Peter Malnati gives emotional interview on death of Grayson Murray

Appling with this horrible news about the passing of Grayson Murray you wanted to come here today to speak a few words about Grayson and the stage is yours yeah um you know this is this is going to be really hard um I was you I didn't know Grayson all that well but I spent the last two days with him and it's so funny we get so worked up out here about you know bad break here or good break there and look you we're so competitive so competitive out here we all want to beat each other and the time like this happens and you realize we're all just humans and this is just a really this is a really really it's a really hard day because you look at Grayson and you see in him like someone who has you know visibly outwardly struggled in the past and he's been open about it and then you see him kind of get his life back to a place where you know he's feeling good about things it's just so sad I mean I was with him Y and he was playing great like his game is so good he's so good at golf maybe if I tell a story about him that'll help me get some composure um this is a really telling story so he played He he'll be the first to admit that College college wasn't real good for him it didn't work out great but he spent one semester at Wake Forest and he played for Jerry HW there you know Jerry HW coached uh he coached Bill coached Webb Simpson he coached Al TUS um among many others and and uh I got to talk to Jerry um a handful of years ago I was out their practice facility um the week of the Windom championship at Wake Forest I was talking to Jerry and he told me he said you know he said I had I had Bill come through here I had web you know I had lot he was but the most talented player I'd ever sit foot on this campus I only got to keep for one semester and it was Grayson Murray and um so he said that and you know Grayson like he put that town on display this year and it was really really fun to see um and then yeah just to to know that he's not going to be doing that anymore is I think that's it's a huge loss for you know for all of us on the PJ tour it's a huge loss for our fans it's a huge loss for in time like this you realize that as much as we want to beat each other as much as we want to be competitive we really are we're one big family and and we lost one today and that's that's terrible
