live from New York it's the show that produced one of the weirdest segments in sports television history coming up in 45 minutes he is really excited about this and's on those cated beans again my initial reactions were one of the best ever College Pro there's only a handful that have done it at a super high level in both Jim Harbaugh is trying to reach the Pinnacle in both he came very close Jimmy obviously did Barry Switzer did and Switzer isn't necessarily given the respect of the others because it was Jimmy's team and then of course Pete Carol uh my second reaction was Russ and Pete kind of better together than aart yeah for both of them and so and and then and then my last reaction was don't hire Dan Quinn why because because if you're GNA move on from Pete Carroll do it to move into a new era not to hold on to the bastions of the legion of boom defensive era and I think that's what everybody thinks they're going to do that is not what I would do I was not overly impressed by Dan Quinn uh when his first time being a head coach with the Falcons but even if I was he's probably going to be a head coach somewhere I wouldn't want him to be the head coach in Seattle if you're Pete Carroll did not see this coming Pete Carol at his end of season press conference like yeah I think I'm going to be back I plan to be back I don't think he wanted to be out so you're doing it because you want to move on if you want to move on then move on and so those are all my kind of initial rapid fire thoughts when I first saw it yeah it it was a gentle firing that's what it is right cuz at first they said he'll stay in the organization I'm thinking like GM or something like that but no advisor that means you're probably far away may you could be around I guess but you're probably far away and you're just advising so it's a gentle way of firing a guy who has been kind of legendary you know um and so I was stunned they had a good season you know I didn't pick them to make the playoffs but a lot of people did they came close they were a good team I here's where I well I agree with you totally on the Russ thing like it's it's a shame for both of them yep right now I don't I'm not saying they would be a contender necessarily with Russ maybe cuz obviously they were still playing good football I know they had the one bad year when he was injured his last year there but he was better with Pete Carol and Pete Caroll look he obviously is a great coach in his own right and what he did at USC but in the n if my math is correct He's 33 and 36 without Russell Wilson oh man and he's 104 and 53 with Russ like Pete was a mediocre NFL coach when you look at his records he was a mediocre NFL coach until he got Russ I'm not saying it was only Russ but when he got Russ they start Mak the playoffs every year obviously when the Super Bowl got there again so I I think it's unfortunate especially when Pete was going to be done like two years later and Russ looks like he's not quite done the just the flip side to be fair to that is we could also do the same thing here's Russell Wilson with car and without which is why like I do think for both of them it did feel like you know Russ wanted it to be over and wanted to move on but it does feel like they maybe were best off together and and I thought B Carrol did a really good job last year actually a great job last year with that Seahawks team that people thought was going to be a bottom five team in the league getting them to the and they this year were alive to make the post with minutes in the final game of the year and then I'm talking about even going into Sunday the final game they just needed Green Bay to lose and Green Bay didn't I do like Dan Quinn there though okay that team look they've never had only great quarterback they've ever had is Russell Wilson all right and they're they've always had good running games for the most part Sean Alexander Maron Lynch now they got some good running backs and defense so Quinn obviously I think would strengthen their defense so I I kind of like Quinn in that spot just quickly if you were to put an offensive coach in there who do you want oh I think that listen I would be I'd certainly call Jim Harbaugh and be like hey you had that fun little Feud with Pete Carroll back with USC Stanford days do you want to replace him Shane Waldren I think will get calls Ben Johnson will get calls by everybody like I I I just wouldn't want to try to just kind of you know kind do a a reunion tour of the good old days I would try to fully Turn the Page gotcha okay as long as you didn't save reel I'm good no he's not an offensive coach Chiefs Dolphins what's at stake for Kansas City this postseason greatest fiveyear stretch in NFL history and it's not arguable they win the Super Bowl it's the greatest five-year stretch in the history of the league the that right now the fiveyear stretch they just completed eight Mahomes First Years of starter through last year is outside of the top five best you know in a half decades because the Steelers had two in the 70s kind of overlapping where they won three in five years the Pats first run the Cowboys in the 90s those are the best ones uh that are not the very best the very best is the New England Patriots from 14 to 18 won three Super Bowls went to four were great every single year here's right now this moment how the past 5 years for the Chiefs measure up to that fiveyear run by the Patriots you'll see the regular season stuff identical postseason losses identical you can look at it if they win the Super Bowl show it to us what it will look like well same division titles same conference Championship appearances same Super Bowl appearance same Super Bowl wins better playoff win loss better regular season win loss and that's right now the gold standard that's right now the best 5year run ever so we can argue Brew about whether or not they're going to do it whether it's realistic but if they do it it is inarguable it's the best 5-year run ever and what starts becoming arguable is well given what everyone has said about the chief's offense this year and the receivers and all of this does this right there that moment put Mahomes in the goat conversation our friend Colin is already I think soft launching a Andy Reed goat coach conversation I I I know you don't I I I know you don't like it but I think Brew I think you know Brew makes the point about you know Andy whether it's Donovan McNab or Kevin Cobb or Alex Smith or Mike Vic or you get the best of all these guys and bellich if there's such a thing as Legacy going backwards it's certainly had its reverse you know s horns on for the last couple years I I'm not saying I would go there but it will be out there but the Chiefs having the best fiveyear run ever will be definitive if they can finish the deal this year look I I don't disagree with a lot of what you said um I I'm glad you you took that positive route all right and that's fine if they lose oh they're not even a dynasty all right I I think the I think there's clearly I think it's five definitive dynasties in modern NFL history s going back to the 60s they've all got at least three Super Bowl wins and they all went back to back and so to me the Chiefs have to get to three now obviously they may get there in the future but they've got to get three win three Super Bowl wins and they've got to get backto back so if they if they don't do that I think kind of the dynasty thing for at least right now is out the window for momes I I actually I will not say this even though I think he's the best quarterback I've ever seen I will not say he's the goat but I bet you some people will start saying that if they if they win the Super Bowl they'll say with these receivers he's got cuz his individual numbers are going to be better than Brady's and he's just individually he's better better than Brady in terms of moving it out of the pocket and things like that so if he if he has I don't think he has to get to Seven I will say he needs to get to three he needs to get to less than half I'm not saying I think some people will say that I I think it's got to be like five but I think a lot of people will start to say man come on he just won with this group we you know he is the goat and then I I think if he loses quickly if he loses I think there will be those so I'm I'm going both sure there will be those that's and if Baltimore wins there will be those that say Lamar jackon is the best quarterback in and I will not be there either but there will be those that say that I won't be there either but I think that'll be fair I think that I don't I don't think that's an outrageous opinion if Lamar who will have won League MVP then wins the Super Bowl I I won't believe it but it won't register to me as like that's an untenable opinion you I mean and so like I don't think that it would be ludicrous to say it because it's like he has the same amount of MVPs like the he just won the Super Bowl May the and so I think it what I think will be ludicrous is the memory huling all of last season ever existing that's happening to Patrick right now which is people asking how good is Mahomes without all pro receivers well I don't know he's the defending MVP and Super Bowl MVP without all pro receivers last year there's been a lot of commentary this year that pretended last year didn't exist but it did so I wouldn't think the Lamar things unfair on The Brady you agree though it'll be out there oh certainly it'll be out there and I won't think it's outrageous I think that if you win League MVP and the Super Bowl and you were already considered of the viewed as the best every single year right and so but on the Wilds you got you know seemed a little perturbed with Bruce talking goat stuff with Mahomes we going I W be will you be there I don't think you'll be there either I don't know maybe what how many rings Michael have when he was considered the goat the answer is three Kareem at that point had six Russell obviously had 11 magic had five Michael retired after a short career when we thought he was really done it's like yeah he's the best we've ever seen he's the best in the postseason he plays at a higher level I don't care about the ring counting stuff and for the As far as the trajectory of it Brady had three rings at the end of his 14th season then he right and then he went on another run so momes will be what forget the stats MVP's numbers from a winning Pace momes will be drastically ahead of where he was in that regard so no I don't think it'll be it would be outrageous for people to believe it because people don't think the team's that good this year because they they well to be honest if they win it I mean he made work magic but they may win it like Brady won some of his with the great defense and he a few a lot of that's yeah yeah that's bill bich so stop dissing Bill bich well just saying bill is is is legendary but he hadn't done anything without Tom break I say the weather will be cold and the chief's odds to win the Super Bowl actually colder currently the fifth best odds to win the title if you're anything like me a $2 bet would net $22 wow that's pretty good though yeah I thought you'd said you did four units that's an $8 BET right move my unit down to 50 cents oh wow okay uh do you think the Chiefs are being disrespected here B not at all not in the least bit they're five and five over their last 10 games and I'mma pull a Nick right here's the list of quarterbacks they've beat oh I like this you're right Tua you know you Tua now Tua looks is great compared to the rest of these guys Aiden o Connell biley zappy somebody named Jake Browning e stick that's who they've beaten in in in their five and five wins they're one and four against playoff teams this season and averaging fewer than 19 points a game against those playoff teams and so I look the only reason they're even fifth probably is because of their history and the respect for Mahomes and Andy Reid and look at this graphic Nick they're 15th in the league in points per game only seven teams ever not since 2000 ever have reached the Super Bowl when being 15th or worse in points per game so they' got their work cut out for them no question about it and and also when you look at the history of the Super Bowl like nobody's gone back to back since 2004 the Patriots so 19 years so you look at they haven't played well they're they're not playing well against Great teams teams don't generally nowadays win back-to-back Super Bowls like the the the graphic I just so there all types of reasons to think it's just not the year for them so this is everything you said is true and you're right I do like looking at quarterbacks you've beaten I think that is actually a pretty instructive case every Point you're making is Right which is why they are being disrespected because what their rank their ranking is not based off their history their ranking is who are the four teams ahead of them oh the one and the two seeds that's it their ranking is based on their seed right now like right now they have the fifth best odds which they should they're the three seed so you should have and Detroit has the sixth best odds like that's right the rankings saying they aren't being disrespect no I'm saying they are because they are being treated as if they are just your typical three seed and everyone at this table knows they're not everyone at this table knows that does anyone question the defense does it no no they don't okay and they have this guy we can show it to you right now walking into the postseason the best we've ever seen so should they be getting a slight bump that is better than the typical three seed of course they should of course they should they have the statistically speaking playoff goat quarterback and statistically speaking second playoff goat not tight end pass catcher can we show Travis Kel's postseason numbers those aren't his ranks amongst tight ends those are his ranks amongst players and he's behind in every category only Jerry Rice who might be the greatest football player to ever Liv who also played for a thousand years and you know was in the he jumped the he he's jumped everyone wild he's numbered he's numbered two in everything and by the way he's number one in yards per game even over Jerry for guys who played at least a dozen playoff games so do I think the Chiefs should get a little more respect than the typical three seed that goes into the playoffs a little uneasy yes I would argue it's actually worked in the other direction I would argue their history is why they're as low as they are because people are judging them against old Chiefs teams I don't think so though cuz I just I mean they haven't played well this year against good teams they haven't played well for the whole second half of the Season like I think people are just looking at this season and and they're giving them a chance because of momes but so where would you have them be right now they should be third but brw if the Baltimore and San Francisco should be ahead of them they should be third brw if you did a uh we kick this around sometimes if there was an idea that you could draft your opponents right if you were the captain of of a playoff football team do you think anyone is drafting the Chiefs super high or the Chiefs still sitting there like oh shoot I guess I'll go to Arrowhead and play the chief so that that's a good question if you're Baltimore and it's like let's say Baltimore you know beats the Browns or the Texans in round two and that game is on Saturday and Sunday being played in Buffalo divisional week weekend is Chief's bills and Baltimore gets to host either one and let's say that there's no major injuries for either team who do you think the Baltimore Ravens are rooting to win that game obviously it's obviously the bills they do I know it's obvious I mean look I'm not saying they want the CH obviously you fear or have a healthy respect for the Chiefs but I think Nick this year the ceiling for both of these teams had at least what we've seen Buffalo has been hire now Mahomes can obviously go crazy even more so than Josh Allen but we just haven't seen it this year so I think Buffalo shown you you you'll be thinking man Buffalo could come here and throw the game away or Buffalo could come here and wipe us out it's like LeBron as a seven seat like don't want to play him uh what's on the line for Tyreek H maybe a little regret oh could it creep in just a bit let's just let thought exercise here wow um from a team success perspective could you have written a worse script for Tyreek then all right your first year without momes they have the highest scoring team in the league momes wins MVP they average 30 a game in the playoffs and win the Super Bowl you guys don't win a playoff game and your second year without momes you go to his building and he beats you like is is there I understand he got his money in his yards I would argue he was going to have good money and good stats if he stayed in Kansas City do you think a little bit of angst can creep in if his season ends for the second year in round one and for the second year at the very least the Chiefs are still playing and maybe we'll see how far they can go look he obviously wants to win and if he were in Kansas City they would be probably the one seat and favor to win the Super Bowl at least right there with San Francisco with the number 18 defense but yeah well go ahead well I I I think he has nothing to lose he's a wide receiver wide receivers are not judged by Super Bowls that's why I said he wants to win and so I don't want to like yeah if they lose to the Chiefs he's like man I want to get but this dude's already got a Super Bowl and Terrell Owens Randy Moss didn't even win it with Tom Brady all right Larry fald Calvin you're right butv none of those guys have even won one Super Bowl ring Tyreek won one and Nick this why like I completely disagree with the regret thing because his numbers have been decidedly better with in Miami than they have than they were in Kansas City and in Kansas City sure we were talking about he was a great receiver no one was talking about him as a top five all time and definite I mean Hall of Famer probably would have made it but here's what I here's what I say when you're I think Super Bowl rings for receivers matter when you're really good but not you might not be like a superlative great and I'm not taking a shot at all Edelman was a his his legacy is was a great playoff performance and I don't think he'll get into the Hall of Fame I know you think he is I don't think he is but what my favorite player growing up Lyn swan in the Hall of Fame because of what he did in the Super Bowl you know cuz his numbers in regular season weren't there so I I think Tyreek like he got more he's actually getting more individual glory and love than he did in Kansas City and he still got a Super Bowl ring so you can't even say he wasn't a winner all right we got to go final thought no no no it's fine thanks for watching subscribe here to get more from the show and to check out clips from other shows on FS1
