Perfumer Rates... My Favourite Fragrances!

I'm Chris you're watching fragmental you asked for it so we're giving it to you I have our interns who's on my channel again how you doing and I see that fantastic ready for games and ready for games let's do it always ready for the games okay you enjoyed the perfumer rates cheapest video this one is going to be different are and is still going to be rating fragrances if you want to see what they are stay tuned to FM so in the last video Aaron was here on my channel and we rated cheapy perfumes I just thought it would be interesting for a perfumer to rate cheapy fragrances in this video I'm not going to tell Aaron what the fragrances are he doesn't know whether that niche whether they're designer whether they're clones whether they're cheap is you will know watching because I'm gonna flush the names of these up on screen as he's smelling them I will reveal the names of the fragrances to our and at the end of the video some he might know some he might not know I think we should just make a distinction here that just because you're a perfumer does not mean you're an expert in all the fragrances that exist in all the world no so you may not have smelt some of these which is fun because we can still have your your opinion Chumley's and let's give a little bit of background as well just in case you didn't see the earlier videos with Aaron so Aaron is a trained chemist he has a chemistry degree yep and you are a perfumer you have your own line of fragrances so you work with these aroma chemicals and raw materials yeah very very often every day so rather than because of the chemistry background rather than picking out specific Accords you more tend to pick out the actual chemicals that are used in the fragrance yea orsa no oh yeah yeah so how what I don't do is I don't do the marketing job is which is they will tell you what Accords are in there I don't I don't know I'm not nothing to d'marco ting I'm a chemist so I will smell the aroma chemicals I'll smell the essential oils or smart the naturals or some other Musk smarter fixative and from that I'll know the longevity from the Musk's and the fixatives that are used the top notes whether they're a combination of naturals or aroma chemicals and sort of a mime but I'm going to judge it on if I would like it as also if I would like it so it's yeah yeah I think that's really important you identifying the aroma chemicals used in the roses you then know because you know that chemical you know what the longevity of it would be so even though you're smelling these off a test strip you've got a pretty good idea of you know how it would be how the whole fragrance would perform yes and and nothing is I don't know the last time I bought a fragrance outside of mine was over 10 years ago so I don't know what's out there so this isn't an opportunity for me to know what other companies are producing I just know I have no idea okay okay so let's start with us we've got six fragrances for Erin to get his nose on he's gonna give us his opinions we're gonna go through all six and then revisit each one briefly so he can formulate his final rating an opinion he has to rate them because this series is now called perfumer rates thanks for all the support on the previous video let's hope this one is just as enjoyable let's get into the first fragrance now there you go cellphone thank you he has no idea what they are where they're from totally blind sniffing very nice so completely different too so I'm going to go on the wide smart last time to this one sure different different category of so that the person that designed this is isn't the High Street brand so it is not a I want to mimic some stuff and I just base it's not in a can definitely not to shoot in a gun you got you know what I mean it's like that's absolutely no so I can smell like cream us that sort of tree miles I can smell bowls I could smell sort of a balsamic bolts me know I can spend a bit word I can smell and it's how I know this isn't so how I know this is then a more of a nitch well-crafted fragrances it changes so with fragrant and it's not linear so there's some Naturals combined with aroma chemicals and our probably prices about 182 in Japan this would last that this would last probably about 10 hours plus you're right with that and it would have it would have projection of probably about three feet I mean yeah there yeah okay all right did you like it I wouldn't wear it but then I think that's one thing I want to say is I think it's very well crafted yeah but it's the sort of fragrance I'm making fragrances for me so for me it hasn't got the dirty filthy sexy item and it doesn't feel very sexy to me it said it feels like a very nice expensive fragrance so somebody with money would buy that I think it's very nice but it to me it's not very sexy okay out of turn you can change these in time back and I think but it may I think it's well I think it's well crafted but because it doesn't have the very sexy element I would mark it as a 10 [Music] like a bit of Filth I mean this one mild a little bit of Filth maybe maybe not enough for you but see what you think no no not oh it's something in it it's at the top no no you know I thought natto natto but no I don't like at all its own what don't you like about it I don't like green no it's mixed with both balsamic knows it's it's um I can tell I can tell you don't like it I've read just don't I don't I don't right here all right not gonna go go you not gonna gag but it tastes very it's got a good so it's got like a tree moss with green notes into it in the tea I just don't like that sort of no but I don't think neither of them I could talk okay what type of fragrance do you think you think it is would it you know would it be what's definitely I think it's worth I'd ever notice I don't like it so I mean I wouldn't like how what I would like to see without his more is more sort of erm it seems very hard and metallic and I would quite like some softness into it so it's it's nicely blended its Melanie why you to the area helps you yes something that I'd dump like it's something I really really don't like so it's it's but it's nicely blended but this it's the green metallic II it's green and metallic bishop which I really don't like yes sir yeah not vibing with you you're not your style varietal okay well this is good we want the honesty you know despite whatever these fragrances might be we've got some Vicks what I'm joking I'm joking this is what we like Erin coming on the channel because he has no preconceptions about these brands about the fragrances whether they're cheap whether expensive he was just say what he feels and if bear in mind that it's all personal opinion I know there's a chemist sitting here as well but he's also talking as a person yeah whether he likes a fragrance or not and not everyone is gonna like every single fragrance even if you love it out there if you really enjoy it you know there'll be people out there who equally don't enjoy it and we have to accept that so I fully accept them okay [Music] sorry what I didn't ask what you would give that one our turn ok so if I know one thing I can do I can actually remember a fragrance in my brain this yeah so if right so if I took out the green know that I don't like I think it's quite nice the backbone is quite nice but there's a single note which I really don't like so if the sink if that single green note when cut probably rate at about seven six seven but because the green know it's really repugnant okay - it's got that I that's a very personal thing yeah it's just a person I just know I don't know so maybe before I just don't like it yeah okay [Music] right on today third one something fluffy with some citrus top notes so limited so I can suppose limiting so it's massively limonene top maybe she's very fresh very bright and they thought linen low as well what can our college today it did their general yeah it's but it's not sit so it's like it's a very linear so this is very linear smooth with us a citrusy top no they're trying to it's especially bogum on top note but I'm not getting how beautiful bergamot Nez Bergman is it's very beautiful sparkly sparkly and I'm sort of I'm missing and missing Naturals in this so this is okay this has got some Naturals but it's it's primarily a sort of like a synthetic ease sort of top note yeah and there's the softener system as the softness is from the musk so we've got um I would like to see more musk in this to make it last I like fragrances that that have a longevity and I don't think this is a a fragrance I would have much longevity but the projection is very good and sometimes it's a trade-off that you have because the money that's involved in that both is very expensive so it's sort of I could trade off one on the other hand I actually do get a good longevity from this one okay now the top nice guy kiss or smell sort the game that the missus is say aroma chemical it's the dream also gets 130 milliseconds Mon a bit of woods yes but it's more pleasant but now that now the the aroma chemical top note surface that have gone yeah he said it's much more pleasant much more mellow it's much more madder much more softer yeah it's a summary fragrances various it's actually very nice no top notes gone so it's summary words and I can't pronounce that my dyslexia TCH ship right it's a sheep row so it's that's that's the where it said it comes from a soft it for a fee yes it's it's nothing you would work again it's not it's not got all right stuff to punch you in the face like stuff that I spray what you know I think this one would work differently on skin yeah I agree I think I think or not you're not getting the whole free yeah that's just something about in in these videos we can't put everything on skin so I know you know a lot of you out there will be you know will be saying oh you know what that's not what I get but nice and clean so it's like no clean it's a clean everyday fragrance I think this is I think if I smell someone wearing a sword you think they were had thought about what they were wanting to wear yeah so it would be someone who's who understands identity understands her identity through fragrance and would be this is who I am and would have a that this is their personality so I think it's that I I would respect someone who would be yeah yeah yeah it's definitely you make a solid choice to wear this frame yeah so I think it's I would respect someone I would know that somebody had would be thinking about it and so that's okay outside success the right [Music] [Music] beside no side without with the work with the letters on and just don't hear to not get the full hit lousy Comorian and loads of aroma chemicals back to two or three oh it's just a bit boring okay it's it's well crafted but it's just a bit boring it's them lemon lemon bergamot citrus bit of qumar in professionals but I'd say sirs professional it's just a bit boring is yes I find it a bit boring I find a bit tame I find it a bit unexcited bit unnerving always a popular one with the ladies this one it's met it smell it yeah it smells like a wealthy man a wealthy middle-aged man that's what it's sort of fun this brand is aiming for that yes so that this is so okay it's the Vega so but it's for me I wouldn't buy this big for me I went by this because it's um I don't feel in that demographic okay you so see what a mayor sure sure I think it's well crafted for what it is I think I can definitely smell there's been thought a thought process behind yes and there's been like a communication before between marketing and a perfumer and there's been some love and care with this it isn't just sort of shove together and assure ya and spam but it's not again it's not your style no something you would rate that quite lowly no but no no no no no so I wouldn't buy it yeah but I can see the craft behind it yeah so taking my you know my personality away from here yeah but I can sort of fear to be like a thank you for getting up 45 I think it'd be like a a sort of a 50 year old man with money drives a nice car I've got a very nice job yeah nice but a nice person would wear this because it hasn't got the sort of filthiness to it the sort of the the it's not but boy fragrance oh no no no it's a very nice yeah man's fragrance very well-crafted yeah this actually would is as longer-lasting as the first one but Jack's probably just as far suppose of money so I'd imagine somebody with money so many money somebody with their Staters somebody with a nice car probably a Porsche out of ten what would you think it's an eight I think it's what nal I gotta say I'm yeah I wouldn't worry I'm happy with that okay on to the next much better I would wear this so this is something yeah there's a younger yeah it's much much better nc likable I personally like this I think it's well rounded warm another muscle using yeah my mus fixative so this makes me happy so when I feel so it's so I think this is what I blended well this is very well blended because I can't smell aroma chemicals and can't smell essential oils I can't smell patchouli you've not know but it is in there I can't smell sound await even though I know sound it was in there can't smile Emmaline linen low geranium Kumar in so what you're saying you're saying that you think they are in there but no they are in there but you're not but you can't pick them out also it smells blend when things are well crafted what blended you so this is a smooth blend yes and I know that there but you can't pick them out as prominent individual knows really good analogy is like if you have very cheap whiskey yeah you can sort of smell gritty you can taste bits of nastiness very expensive ultra pure whiskey just smells pure and this has got a like a purity to it but it doesn't smell as expensive as the the last one and the first one smells think how expensive but it's I think it's more youthful I think this is for I prefer it yeah IATI and it's not as a nice excitement as the others wish I prefer it is exciting you know I agree all right great I'll turn so far as speaking of supper femoris say that as a about seven or eight for me personally are traitors are like a nine because I buy it [Music] just just other side other side boy boring boring fragrance boring yeah just ones like it just not like everything disappointing I feel when I smell this and I smell this identity I think it's boring and I think it's boring I think with over 4,000 way can I just clarify is your boring it is born disappointing because I think 4 over 4 if you think there are four thousand aroma chemicals Naturals yeah and you can blend them to make how many permutations from there and you come up with something that smells with the same skeleton yeah as everything you know yeah it's just disappointing yeah and I feel disappointed okay in this one's defense having just smelt it on the strip as I pass it over then I will say it does not smells good on the paper as it is no I was I think so I'm gonna go on a limb here I think it's I think it's a Chanel fragrance and you know how I know that because it smells like how should L make a fragrance and I think it's a cheap Chanel fragrance so I don't think it's expensive Chanel friggin sign I think is man in his 30s but I think it's disappointing because not for the person who wear it because I think it's nice but these disappointing that accompany with with prestige and such a beautiful company isn't doing anything exciting did you join someone of me yeah I I get what you mean but I think you know well I'm not gonna reveal who it is but if we are talking about those those big designer brands then there has to be an element of mainstream to them they're catering to the masses then yes I can tell you what marketing I've told marketing have said we want a fragrance that's fast sporty sexy young like a citrusy top no going down to and brought so a lot of unboxing and paying it's not I think it's nice but I think it's disappointing so I think yeah all right Alton okay so it's I think it's nails I think it's obviously well craft its but I think it's boring so get some points knocked off for that side says about a seven six or seven because I think it should not but I think it's bought so if if if I'd never smelt this on in the street you know hundreds of times from different chemical from different companies yeah then I would rate it as an the nine because I think it's really nice yeah but because I've smelt it and I think it's disappointing so I rate it as a six I'll go do picker Sivan alright great so we've got the initial ratings there let's go quickly whiz back through them all this is just a quick Rhys Mel just to see so this was the first one which you yeah ba stomach said in an aids yeah like balsamic yeah it's a very well quite it to me the perfumer that did this has come from a classic background of creating perfume so come from one of the French houses so and I think it's a I think it's well-crafted but I think it's um like a do you know the fragrance or not I don't know I don't I absolutely don't at all alright but that's something going because it smells like I sort of I know how that's sort of lying how it's paella yeah how it's put together so I know I said if I know where if I was to train with them what I would be grating are you sticking with you right yeah I think I think it's not I think it's very well crafted okay I think it's alright I will reveal what this one is to you then this is Roger performs and nygma okay this is my favorite from Alka okay so cognac tobacco vanilla Bedouin Vega that's why I could smell very classy very luxury yeah and smoked your sink knows a lot of his craft outdoor one figure so well done okay so let's see I can't remember ratings will be on screen after contra now then I get to know ya know it's got some sort of a I don't like the way that the the tree mossy bear yeah the tree Moss record has been blended with the citrus I don't I don't like it okay fine so sticking with your original thoughts on that one you smell what I mean that it's got the if you smell like that if you like the tree Moss is mixing this citrus and it's creating something which I don't like this the way they've chords of mixing up that's the part personally but I think again it's well crafted I don't like it okay it'll be really horrible though this this is another one of my favorites is path wonder mildly Carlisle okay I have no idea what you said so the brand parfum de moly okay I don't know yeah okay no you see no you're not familiar wind up done okay so that one's not not for you sticking with that right okay on to the next one just boring yeah it is really boring safe boring bit window clean like yeah so similar opinion to you said what you had initially so okay so this is D or um puff on okay don't like it into one super I'm surprised loved in the community and they surprised I think it's yes I love this one so so this to me is it's all based around iris that's why I don't like it right and I miss what you know that's that yeah notice you don't use all right so that's why them like it makes sense I've got some are Homer coffee concrete's and I'm gonna have to I really don't like it that's exactly what I over letter yeah but well crafted so a lot of people think this is very masculine very almost a nice quality and very refined you know a good kind of autumn winter fragrance because it's quite robust I know yeah I know you said summery and when you said that I thought the arm perform summery book because of that floral either see hearts I think yeah I can see that you know you but I wear as a centrist I wouldn't wear massive citrus so yeah I would wear that to me would be a light fragrance right okay yeah all right answer that one I can just Malcolm are in I can just Malcolm our own with which which is essentially tonka bean right yeah it's like okay and I'm getting a very wealthy man so that that's what I think would be so smells like a welcome pose well blended fragrance is very very well very very well blends it won't spend a bit of money on yes it's it's I would smell this and I would know the person yeah would happen money so not your style but you think it's a nicely crafted gala grands and you know the type of person who would wear it would be someone who wants it to have the luxury you know come across as I'm having money and having luxury yeah middle aged so I'd sort of see like me life getting on 45 I'd see them as like good business so this is a I would imagine like a person who is at the top of their business I'm managing for the people and because it has a lot of status to it exactly okay so I'll tell you what this is this is from the house of a mirage which are known to be you know a very affluent brand yeah they look Sharif brand it's called reflection month much loved by a lot of people loyal ladies love this one because it's very sweet often mentioned as a higher quality similar smell to jean-paul Gaultier Lamar it's very heavy on the Jasmine and white florals yeah it's like that yeah absolutely so it's um it smells expensive so it's my I would imagine a young you know this older so slightly older very in dalek that one yes Jeff wife white sorrel I'm trying to ruin this myself outfit yeah yeah very hard okay it is hard yeah it's hard to do yeah younger sis this is more my age group yeah eighteen younger younger fast dangerous yeah Jonathan second I've no idea okay I don't know okay Germany gas yeah I think it's I think it's a younger sexier and it just cemented the way it's been created it is it's that sort of ambery yeah I love amber yeah so I'm gravitating to a sort of amber so this is Tom Ford's dude would they very iconic fragrance very sexy variants a second one yes much talks about as being a very sexy fragrance a apply oh yeah that's your favorite obviously a whole lot yeah by that sticking with your original thoughts or not great I'll onto the onto the final one yeah still feeling the same about that so from a professional point very well crafted from a professional point of view its they've had a very very good perfumer with a lot of experience make it yeah from my personal thing I think it's so boring I think it's been I cans I can smell this I out there's nothing particular unique about but I well you absolutely nailed this one because you said you thought it was alpha male it's an outfit yeah you were right it is us you know okay you mentioned it being fast-paced and sporty and it's a law on sport or extra okay Vega so yeah I know it's not to your taste but you know no it's a pretty sure not very well crafted but yes it's missing out on dirty yeah thinking personally earthy yeah notes which that the yeah one I'd be like I agree I think it's it's very well crafted frame is to smell soapy off that strip them and then it does off as my skin customers but it is it is a beauty right so the the criteria for these fragrances were some of my favorites I just picked off my shelf some of my all-time favorites that I wear a lot that never fail to to give me an immense amount of enjoyment when I wear them but we all like different things and better than the last ones better much better and I'd like to get you an absolutely tell a difference from yeah when there's been some with experience when they've had time yeah so what your viewers may not know is the time length it takes to make it fragrance the ones that reviewed last time will make very very fast and we've got to get this out yeah next week whereas thieves have been six months two years development a lot of care and attention you absolute absolute you can tell yes and that comes across in the quality so so yes so these are some of my favorites and you know even though some of them weren't Aaron's personal taste that is absolutely fine some of the things he really loves may not to be to my personal say so you know we all like different things in hey that's what makes the world go round yeah so there we go so my favorite so perfumer rates my favorite fragrances I just thought that would be good for the next one we're gonna do some more of these so do
