PERFECT way to make HipHop/TRAP drums in Logic Pro X (10.5 UPDATE) | Drum Machine Designer Tutorial

hey you guys it's Jamal I'll be on it and welcome back to another logic X tutorial logic has done something incredible in last two weeks they updated the software it's a 10.5 logic is now and finally hip-hop track producer friendly basically made a new way to do your drums on this plugin called drum machine designer and it's just easy it's so user friendly it's kind of like pretty loose to drag and drop your samples feature and it's it's just great I can't have nothing bad to say about it so today I'm going to teach you how to do the Machine designer and make hip-hop and track drums it's really easy you're gonna love it yes I know you guys if you don't have logic I have a link below for the free trial is free trial for 90 days and if you do have logic in you but it through you know the app store is actually a free upgrade so go download and get the new one and let's start making beats so if you take a look at my screen I have a sample here very drake j cole s i got this sample from a sample kit that i cannot remember the youtuber name of so i will put that link of this sample kit and in the description so you guys can some stuff to sample so the first thing you want to do is hit f f boom it opens up your file kit this right here this file your media kit is your gonna be your best friend you wanna you want to put all your drum sounds on your desktop but put it in a folder so i have i go to my desktop under my files tab desktop i have a file called production i click that and i have all my kids in there so you want to organize your drum kits so you can get to them easily please it's gonna help you out get your first instrument drag it until this light gray area you see a pop up menu comes up because quick sampler original quick sample optimized drum machine designer that's what you want just drop it on drum machine design at once and look at that boom look how easy and beautiful this looks it's just so simpler we used to have used ultra beat and use like the background channel of ultra beat to do this not anymore look at this it's beautiful alright so you go to the kick you can press this to hear to sound the kick you can have a drop-down menu right here boom you see it you see the one shot this is the sound you can change it up you can slice it so here my favorite part right here you can go to the sampler detail or a pad control either one like let's say this pitch I can change the pitch right there like you don't have to go through any other plugins and do anything extra it's right where you can see a volume delay pan is right everyone everybody can see it like it's so simple so okay I have my kick cool let's exit out let's grab a snare next how about that hit boy I like his snares alright see that snare so drag it again highlighter over this track drum machine designer drop it and it goes right to the next one so now I have the kick and the snare you guys this is so easy so I have the kick in that snare now if you you don't have to exit out I can actually so let's get some hats hi-hat you can just drag and drop it boom hi-hat so have a kick snare hi-hat I want to clamp found my clamp all right I found this chant I like that drag of champs and I'm gonna grab an open hat as well Oh last but not least let's get 808 let's make this interesting you guys those get it away 808 all right so I got everything I want you guys had eight away as you see this is the drum machine design right here when I press the down button oh there's all the instruments right there fully all tracked out separately unchanged this let's just change it to fancy fancy kit let's name it fancy kit and the great thing about this before with the 808 you had to put it in a separate channel and and work to it always on a separate channel now you can put it right in your drum kit you don't have to actually if I press command okay it pulls up a keyboard it's already chopped up your ADA ways for you this is beautiful you guys just don't know you don't have to chop up your ADA weights you don't have to put it in a x24 channel this is beautiful anyways alright so anyways I click the main channel control create pattern region so now I have my pattern region let's close this file first thing you do is go to 32 steps I need some more steps bone plate thing let me show you see the sample at the same time so the beautiful thing is about this is I could just click one of these green squares and drop my instruments where I wanted drop them for instance let's do it where's the high high hat is right here next thing I'm gonna do is you see this this is me 16 see 16 steps I'm gonna change the 32 I'm gonna do that for my claps and my snares when you're roll step rate is at 32 this is right here I'm screwing when is that 32 I always know most of the time most of the time it works the kick in the clap the main one is always gonna land on nine and twenty five one two three four five six seven eight nine and this is 25 it's always gonna land on that watch this I haven't heard of yet I know is gonna land on it watch this and I was going through putting things in really fast just for tutorial purposes [Music] [Music] so I have my pattern as you see it's very simple pattern nothing really crazy the next thing I want to show you guys to do you now have this drop-down menu for instance you see these high hats right here my hat my high hat is right here drop down menu boom it comes down you seen velocity and no-repeat if I click velocity I have gate I know octave I can do a lot of different things so what I like to do is change the velocity on my high hats so they all don't hit on the same force that doesn't sound really natural so don't send like this makes it sound a little more natural and honestly you guys this is music nothing is wrong and nothing is right it's how you like your creativity so alright that's cool now look at this note repeat note repeat is really dumb this is how you do your your rolls now so you see note repeat means one if I bring it to two right here and all I did was click it click it and drag up them down to make it less or drag up to make it more so I'm gonna hit it at 3 let's try that so I'm just changing stuff around I like that I like that too so you see the note repeat very cool it's very simple so I have this snare I'm gonna I want to make a roll at the end so this how you do something like that are you guys now that I have this little um drum pad on my plate at one more time and it's so beautiful you can just you see me just lowering the things I want to lower a rising sink things I want to rise it's beautiful alright anyways so the patterns done but this patterns no good for arranging purposes so what do you do I've pushed control and click convert to MIDI region that's a little better but it still got done control click one more time separate notes by pitch and they go all on their own separate tracks you guys this from machine designer is beautiful it's easy logic couldn't make it any easier to be a producer it really couldn't make it any easier now that everything is separated we can arrange at times to arrange it now let's do it command C go to the end of this V command C one more time eight bars 2016 and one more 8 probably so and like this new tool just makes it so easy to arrange track so if I was arranging out probably start up like that no hi-hat are you guys so I just arranged a beat is probably how we'll have it but remember I talked to you guys before that I'm gonna change the 808 surround this is what I mean so the 808 they're hitting they're hitting hard I like them but it's not in the tone I want so what I'm gonna do is command K it brings up the keyboard you could type one that's the key you guys that's the key I want I go back to this command and actually and actually could just command a to do that I don't have to do it that way I'm gonna drag all the notes I see [Music] that's hard that's her on the phone there's no so that's gonna be next Note 2 so command [Music] and let's see how that sounds ought to go there as you see the drum machine designer is beautiful logic thank you cuz you guys
