How to Make Silky Buttercream Ingredients: 500 grams of soft salted butter (not melted) / 500 grams (4 cups) of Icing sugar (powdered sugar) / 1 -2 Teaspoons of flavouring Add soft salted butter into the mixer bowl Use the paddle attachment to mix Mix on low speed and increase to maximum speed Keep mixing until butter increases in volume Stop mixer and scrape the bowl well Mix again from low to highest speed Reduce speed to stop mixer and scrape the bowl again Mix for a 3rd time to highest speed then stop to scrape the bowl The butter is ready when its very pale and creamy Add 1/4 of the icing sugar (confectioners/ powdered sugar) Mix on low speed then increase to highest to mix well Add another 1/4 of icing sugar and mix from low to high Continue to add another 1/4 of icing sugar and mix Add the last 1/4 of icing sugar - mix from low to highest Stop the mixer and scrape the bowl Add 1 - 2 teaspoons of flavouring The buttercream is ready when it's pale, silky and creamy Scrape the paddle attachment and bowl Transfer buttercream into a large bowl or large container This recipe will make approximately 950 grams of buttercream This recipe will cover one 6 inch x 6 inch cake. Or 12 -24 cupcakes Store in an airtight container or sealed bowl for up to 3 days at room temperature or 5 days refrigerated
