Every time I watch a compilation like this I just end up pausing it when I see the Armando Galarraga one, and then going to look up the heart-wrenching interview with Jim Joyce afterwards.

Sucks for Mussina that he lost a perfect game in the 9th twice.

This is when I just "sports hated" Marwin Gonzalez. Now I actually dislike him.

I'm now curious why the cameramen switched to the woman getting escorted out at 17๏ผš11 by the police

I was at Dave Stieb's as a kid and I'd really like to see the ball that broke it up (27th batter). I remember being furious at Jorge Bell thinking he could have caught it.

No thanks. Donโ€™t need to be reminded of Galarragaโ€™s robbery.

Galarragaโ€™s game is in a category all by itself. He pitched a perfect game, and Joyce screwed the pooch.

that's one of those nights you got your best stuff got your concentration everything is going in the air to the floor above Tony Tarasco 24 in the book free to go Cena bottom of the eighth coming up at the yard the Oriole television network the perfect game on the line on this pitch as is the no-hitter I have been that's the point you have a three nothing lead you don't want to walk anybody put on the other hand Messina all night has been able to make the perfect pitch sharply to the glove Robbie Alomar went down of the night two to go for Mike Mussina line the left base hit the villain in Baltimore Maryland on this 30th of May is sandy Alomar junior after 25 consecutive hitters retired by Mike Mussina sandy Alomar breaks up the perfect game and the no-hit bid with a ringing fakes hit to left Rafael Palmeiro comes over to say something to my casino I mean when you are that kind of focus that kind of concentration this could disturb you and immediately Davey Johnson will get somebody up in the bullpen [Applause] so close that face ball in mortality mike mussina wraps up a stunning anyone hit performance in shutting out the cleveland india forty-three years ago two and two the count that is and the Cena's got to cut out and that is the first close call of tonight and Bellinger just put in after he ran for Tino Martinez was up to the job well so was Mussina he got over there very quickly I mean a lot of times long it is hard you take the split-second of looking if he would have done that O'Leary would have beat him to first base but here you see O'Leary is not going to beat Mussina the first base on this play nice play there by Bellinger and even though we're game the Yankees are not guarding the line they're playing straight up and they should be Carl Everett has come out on deck one out pitch struck him out of the cave all the tagged out by Posada who picked it out of the dirt and Mussina with his 13th strikeout has retired 26 in a row [Applause] and David Cota was there just two years ago in the Yankee pinstripes looks on [Applause] when the Yankee reaction [Applause] [Music] mike mussina this is the closest he's ever come one out away perfect game Saturdays and this time every the first hit of the night the first baserunner Mussina was just one strike away from a perfect game and Everett departs lifted for a pinch runner [Applause] you seem to see this disappointment mar 11 year the big city with the Yankees doctor spending his entire career in ball and for the second time coming up just a bit short with a bid for a perfect leave the game at least a runner goes the ball is bounced to Soriano pants or but Bellinger with the tag and the game is over so mallinger bills the egg is out twice in the inning save me the perfect game and then saving the wind and Mike Mussina wins his 14th of the year Roger Clemens one of the first out of the dugout as the receiving line congratulate the moose Mike Mussina and he was one out away from history Fenway Park the Scott Baker three outs away from a perfect game and the crowd on their feet here at the Metrodome remember when we did David Wells perfect game you root for mommy yeah we were all rooting for tables to do it this is something that doesn't happen that often folks John Buck the leadoff hitter in the Kansas City nine ball on a week and a half ago Scot his wife Leanne and sunny Elijah welcome Easton into the world want to know and every time you saw Scott [Applause] you ask him how are things going into oh just great well he's three outs away from experiencing a completely different type of greatness outside three and Oh [Applause] all three balls have missed we have fastball right down the middle while Baker wants it but up believe me that catcher Mike Redmond he wants it to all his teammates want to see it so leadoff walk go for the no hitter the fans appreciate the heat perfect inning and still like they know social one against Baker sub forgot right one and two to her mom hope to the right side out at second no relay one out two outs away from the no-hitter two short Center as sweetie spoils it never liked him anyway in his first at-bat in months he breaks up the no-hitter remember former twin Steve Hoover at a no-hitter going in to Texas and with two outs with a walk and a hit this inning they'll never forget what they've seen tonight from Scott Baio they will not and I'm sure the same can be said for the thousands of you at home liner to short and it's a brilliant one hit shot first Scott Baker what a pitching performance by Scott Baker he came so close to having a perfect game he schemed so close to having a no-hitter he settles for a one-hit shutout definitely our quest player of the game his first career shutout and it's a one hitter and in the background you saw the catcher Mike Redman getting Pat's on the back and he's done a lot of smiling in the last couple weeks for different reasons but he could have poured himself a proud smile as he pitches a masterpiece here tonight he comes the crowd now and a bouncing ball to second base 24:04 Colorado and a swing and a high fly ball toward left centerfield Jackson is on the run still going he Austin Jackson in left centerfield the sparkling play here's the one - bouncing ball to short Santiago and [Applause] 26 up 26 down here comes number 27 it's Jason Donald and a crowded better than 17,000 to its feet the guy we've been waiting for all night ground ball right side Cabrera we'll cut it off Galarraga colors he's out he's safe he is safe he is safe at first base [Music] [Applause] Jim Joyce said he was safe at first base mr. bass is out why is he saying meanwhile she missed the base are you kidding me why is he saying you see right here [Applause] why you say enjoy what a travesty what an absolute travesty bouncing ball left side Brandon in never done this disappointed Armando Galarraga what an outstanding performance tonight players shouldn't get too much Jim Joyce's face because [Applause] [Music] [Applause] Tigers wounded here tonight at least Jim Joyce is standing there taking it like a man Jim Leyland have it's all Tigers their lairs let him have it I just feel so bad for mando Galarraga whatever tonight Jimmy Rollins to lead off the bottom of the seventh for the Phills in a scoreless game shallow center drew Stubbs in position and that is the first out of the bottom of the seventh inning at Citizens Bank Park [Music] pop fly foul territory Votto with room two gone and wood is quick enough to be able to do that eighth strikeout of the night for Travis Wood who has held the Phillies hitless if you wish you saw her John Burrell undeclared the game on the defensive Jim turned in by Miguel Cairo a third this shallow pot is called for by Orlando Cabrera and he has it for the first down the field goes to God earlier he's like a right-handed Mike wait two-on-one left center and there goes the heads up another the Carlos Ruiz first a set of the ninth to the pillows correct myself the left-hander Trevor [Applause] you looking for number six and the second perfect game swung on ground ball through diverse legs up the middle base hit Marwin Gonzalez has ruined the no-hitter the perfect game Darvish has a smile on his face and I believe that the vast majority of the people in this crowd cannot believe it here comes Ron Washington the ball was hit sharply Darvish not able to get a glove on it Elvis Andrus with a diving try unable to stop the ball and history will not be made here tonight though you Darvish now starts to walk with his head held high proudly off this field at Minute Maid Park he takes his cap Bob waves it to the crowd briefly after crossing the third-base line it was a 91 mile an hour fastball that Marwin Gonzalez shot right back through dervishes legs but I tell you partner I'm stunned I really am one out away and the Astros here late in the game more going after that first pitch as opposed to early in the game taking a lot of pitches the pitch was a little bit above belt I have come so close his 111th pitch of the game and only the second ball handled by a Ranger outfielder tonight when Craig Gentry in centerfield bent down to pick up the ball when the ball went through his legs and into Center Darvish threw his arms up in despair but smiled as he walked off the back of the mound and Michael Kirkman the lefty from Lake City Florida is on to try and finish the shutout you talked about everybody was standing here and almost everybody had their cell phones out and they were snapping pictures on the hill the night for the Giants will be used mineral petites and he is red-hot he's had two starts this years last two games on the ground the Bell belt to the bag the tape and the o2 pitch down in the night on the ground of Scutaro Peter on a bell and the pitch swinging a line drive to right pence is going to die and it falls in front of pence for a base in and fatigue comes oh so close do a perfect game like maybe a foot swinging the chopper to arias and this is going to be the ballgame that the cake from his teammates as he should last start as you remember unbelievable one of most dominant performances you'll ever see 16 strikeouts versus one walk complete game so see what he's got left in the tank today for the Pirates tuck play out there that spinosa escapes [Applause] are you kidding me Spinoza with that shortstop arm of his from short right and Susur is untouched through 8 little pop fly he's there and he stops himself at the barrier top of the night he gets jammed flyball centerfield Denard Span two outs and the ball did it hit him and that's it for the perfect game the ball hit Jose Tabata and he goes to first base with two outs in the ninth Oh 2 pitch and a ball hit deep to left Taylor going back and [Applause] Sunday in Milwaukee he was amazing and today in DC he was almost perfect nobody wants to be anybody still outstanding says Matt Williams John Philbin the strength of conditioning coach Steve McCatty here comes the chocolate syrup from the other no here guy Jordan Zimmerman [Applause] it's done hat has to go but on the fame there said that at the groomers down here Rich Hill all over his last tent game says a 259 earned run average no base runners still six innings that gets rich peddle booking and strikeouts again 80 [Applause] at this point in this situation the fielders for average shall start to feel it as much as he does he's looking for one two three seven [Applause] I'm the to start the field special in Pittsburgh [Applause] Adrian Gonzales for the second out of the the pitch count now at 80 [Applause] Gonzalez takes a look at second Asuna it's it's a fail on food for saves it to go a curved grounded the show torrid Seger's gang no nine no-hit innings for rich dog the perfect game gone that no hit o still intact Rich Hill coming out in the tenth inning he's really surprising [Applause] Lopez has worked for perfect innings another hard-hit ball Alex Gordon slides and makes the play and left-center pitch on the way swing ground ball back up the middle fielded by Monta see quick toss and they got him just barely fine play by out Alberto Mondesi yes you are witnessing a very good pitching performance 21 straight retired by the Royals pitcher slow roller tough play man to see in fast scoops throws got it two balls two strikes two out Lopes getting the sign from Perez and brings it in lined up the left-field line foul don't go with that one go back with the fuzz throw that cheddar cheese in there 2 2 pitch strike three call so eight perfect innings from Jorge Lopez item of the ninth inning he really has not been close to walking anybody three balls one strike and that is ball four this is the first time all night that lopez has pitched from the strategy now Grossman gets a base hit into centerfield Lopez almost caught it reaching his glove up but a little too late and fans are cheering both the head and the remarkable night Jorge Lopez and this really nice gesture by his teammates to come out and remind him of what he's accomplished and they know that meds on his way nobody would have predicted that young man right there would have gone eight perfect tonight almost go all the way what a thrilling opportunity to watch that performance great job [Music]
