hey how's it going hi fine i got this relatively  rare harry potter book first edition first   printing okay harry potter and the philosopher of  stone jk rowling she wrote most of it in a copy   shop and she became a multi-billionaire about  a story with a kid that carries around a stick i'm here at the pawn shop  today to sell the first edition   of harry potter and the philosopher's stone  it's a first printing and it's signed by   j.k rowling the author i'm hoping to sell  the book today for ten thousand dollars harry potter and the philosopher of stone it's  a story about a young boy he's uh when he turns   11 years old he finds out that he's actually a  wizard and needs to go to wizard school after the   book was released in 1997 kids fell in love with  it and it just went viral all around the world   they've done like i think eight movies plus there  was like some spin-off movies and it's amazing   how well this is done where did you get  this i bought it from the dealer in england   okay um looks like it's signed here yeah  and you got a certificate of authenticity   harry potter and the philosopher's stone signed by  jk rowling so it looks in really good shape okay   how much you want for it well i thought it might  be worth ten thousand okay uh maybe it is maybe   it's not i have no idea um but i have a very good  friend that will know everything about it she will   probably be really good with the signature she'll  know if it's first edition yeah which printing   and everything else like that yeah so just hang  out for a few minutes i will get her down here   and have her take a look at it okay all right i'll  be right back harry potter the kid with the stick double ganger you told me you wanted me to look  at a signed copy so i thought i have a signed copy   for purposes of actually comparing the signature  the best thing to do is to compare it with one   that is actually known to be correct this young  man bought this 18 19 years ago and this was some   special printing they came out with yes in 1999  when it had already started getting the momentum   for which it's famous they published uh deluxe  editions of the works and there are a few things   that make these deluxe a lot of this guilt you  know this is actual gold and then you can see that   the text block edges here are also guilt these  are all indications of a typical deluxe production   okay i can even tell just looking at it from  here this is a beautiful copy which is what   you want for a book like this but rowling is  infamous for having many many many forgeries   it's just like a hornet's nest it's always a  problem okay well look inside do your magic   so i'm actually going to compare  it first just to double check you can see it has the general shape but first of  all some of these lines have been double-crossed   right so here you can see this has gone over  more than once there's some shakiness right here   the other thing too is you're actually seeing it  squished you see it's actually a lot thinner and   that's important because it's very typical with  forgeries for signatures to be slightly smaller or   more squished so not a real signature i am sorry  to say i don't think that this is a real signature   i have no idea that it might be different what's  the book worth this book unsigned isn't a very   expensive book but moreover in my opinion this  is actually not even worth what it would be if   it were unsigned because this in my opinion should  be taken off the market so as far as i'm concerned   the value on this is zero okay you're amazing  thanks thank you right yes yep all right um   it's not real so it's not for me but thanks  for bringing it in all right have a great day   thank you well i'm very disappointed i probably  will just give it to one of my great grandchildren you
