Molde Monroe is wanted for the financial terrorist attack Black Monday Monday was my idea it's me where's the Wall Street himself mo is back baby welcome back all the smoke been a minute my god my brother how long has been couple weeks crazy man we got an amazing guest la legend Boston Celtic legend NBA champion Paul Pierce appreciate you before we get going obviously in the midst of someone we were all very close to our brother Kobe Bryant we want to shout out our man ink one for my hat and Kobe to the mural man incredible heroes crazy still don't seem real I know right you know it means a lot to us to have him on our wall just like he meant a lot to us when he was here for us you know we were we were some guys that really appreciated him while he was here I really admired him I don't mind so to have him on this wall it's only right bro yeah let's just start there we'll go back but let's start with it what you and Kobe were going at it for a long time I met up in the finals and tell me and then like I said you being from here and him representing LA so much in you what was Kobe Bryant to you and some of you guys has matchups overall I mean like truthfully Cole was like one of the few guys that I just like wasn't kind of like oh we all were yeah like I play Matt against everybody but him we always had like a different type of relationship I think it was more out of respect to anybody else I've pretty much couldn't care less about it see that way I mean off the court and but you know just to have the opportunity to match up with them know I'm on and off the court was special I mean it made me who I am pretty much I mean I got my nickname after a Laker game matching up with Kobe who won the championship verse pretty much and kind of like sibling at my legacy playing against Henry you know so maybe he meant so much to me in the basketball world and just to see him be like that it was just it's like you almost lost a family member or you did you know like I've lost family members I've lost friends and stuff but for some reason this one like him my one of the hardest-hit hidden ones and he was untouchable that he's like them not in touch with us like right and so like it really like even today man I'm like just looking at the mirror like it's like it's hard it's hard man rest in peace to our brother Cole man and Gigi and everyone else in the tragic accident January 26th but uh let's get to it man a lot of people don't know you from the bay to begin with yeah so I was born in Oakland yeah my mother's brothers they play ball - they went to Fremont High School but then we moved out from Oakland I really didn't get my basketball I was on the basketball in Oakland no basketballs football and baseball so you wasn't an Isis in the family yeah my brother's was good a lot of people don't know my brother got drafted by major leagues San Francisco Giants were all just brother play Division one Miami and you know so I started in Oakland but I was like I turned it to a Hooper when I got there late and so 10 years old you moved to Inglewood well I moved to East Side LA like Normandy and Imperial favored by people with LA know that area is not good so then I stayed a year over there with my relatives and then we moved to Inglewood when I was like 11 a year later and then you know all my friends hooped it was like on the weekend you know I want to play baseball or taco you know he's playing streets tackle everybody hoops all slushy I got to fall in line and this hot started whoo but I really didn't like hoop like that but I was taller than everybody and I was like okay let me start whooping it so I was kind of like a late bloomer truthfully as far as the okay a little chubby kid shape y'all seen these pictures i when did you kind of fall forward like when did you kind of figure out like okay I could do this [ __ ] it took a while man I mean I was like I think I was skilled I remember I got I wasn't I first got on the first traveling team or you know YMCA teen yeah it was YMCA at my first organized basketball in Google YMCA shoutout to think worldwide band Davis Andre Miller Palacio Jason Hart and I wasn't really getting no minutes and I was just like no I like Cooper man I think you know minutes I'm over here and my feelings like tearing up after games I'm in the sixth grade not getting no minutes and then I slice [ __ ] I gotta work on my game pretty much it was just like you know my mom's was strong she was like well you gotta practice more like trainers you just go outside and play all day to the park right going to the park or the weekends outside and or we mostly play outdoor yeah you know so you gonna come home with scrapes on your knee yeah that's what we got tough that man that's where my DNA come from playing in the parks you know playing against grown man gangsters who don't know how to play but gonna file you all day right yeah so you know that's right that's where the DNA come from you see our play so tell us a little bit about the scene in high school around you because there was a lot of players that you play with coming up they made it yeah you know I liked the first Pro I was ever around was Chris Mills from Fairfax everybody respects me and uh was it uh Shawn Higgins yeah but it was it was Chris Mills and Shaw Higgins and uh they would come up to the high school and whoo and this my first look you know I'm a pro like real life coming up in the bands you know I'm looking up at cars I'm looking at they swag I'm like I'm like you know this is what it's like me in the league and they don't miss I'm looking at him shoot and you know I looked up to them you know cash like Tracy Murray they was all coming up before me and then my peers you know we got a lot of guys out of high school I was real good freaky price you know I was just talking to Poole about this [Music] Toby Bailey in Lawton cast it was very competitive I mean it was the only time we battle would be in the state championship did you because you lose oh no Jimmy man that was my guy he was like the next magic yeah what's the drill high together that was my guy stays below stays boss yeah you know about all these cats huh you digging deep oh man I might have been one of the best high school teams I've seen Morningside like if y'all ever get a chance they got a documentary actually you should check it out it's one inside high school class of 94 documentary you can look at us like people don't even know about this why it was this was the best basketball team I ever seen but they had a lot of drama you know they got to see who were some of the greatest like I say that you have seen them all out here people that you that never made it man one of them was shake hard to say can you play it again same problem as you know you know about shake on this was illustrated freshman high school yeah mine in high school I never he was one of the coldest young kids I said I was one year older than him we would be a 6-7 great battle in this was always chasing for like years years and you know you turn around and it sees great layup line all day I never this was LeBron before the bronze yeah no question and left hand yeah I tell his people about him all the time and child says doc ah - a cabman he was a real I remember I remember going playing in LA Nike cap and Allen came to LA and it was him Baron Davis and Mateen Cleaves and Ronnie feels a court Benjamin in the dunk contest oh I could not believe what I was seeing Ronnie fields one and I think if I'm not mistaken but him and Shea was going back he was matching that bump believed oh no these high school cats they all have bounced it was unbelievable where Benjamin was taken off from free throw and hot baby's having a good time - of course Baron Davis no I don't know but I mean like that didn't make it didn't make it she was playing man I'll say like Ricky price oh man I thought he was the next Jordan like he was the number one player out of California in 94 and I played on we played on the same team I was younger than him and he was like every day to me like he was the first cat that I seen that was like six six six seven with handle got jumper usually back then when he was that tall they made you play in the post play made you play down low because that's where I was playing I was like sure I got to get my game together like I was mainly a post player and when I was watching him I was like I got to get my jumper right his pull up he was dunking handles I was like sure I'm looking like Jelani Gardner yeah oh man we had some talent come on LA yeah I mean a lot of guys did a lot of guys didn't killers though I think maybe you know just sometimes when you get it too early you get satisfied and I don't know if that's the case with them I don't want to speak about them like that but you know they always was real good since yeah I was a late bloomer I think that's what kept me hungry you know I didn't get invited to camp until my senior year you know a lot of cats was going to Nike Adidas camp since like ninth grade you know and I didn't even get it invite to Nike camp by the way so that's how later bloomer I was like a divas camp and the rest is history that's what I blew up you play you play you play you bouquet Yoji the angle before you turn this is turn segments turn no listen term coming on the team I was on case was first time we were in case we said we were caseless our team was so broke we was all neighborhood kids came together and it just hooped and what year so this is our senior you're going to try see yeah we uh we somehow just can't get cagey shut up at that the coach from song cage I can't I was like I got a kid on the west coast you know you need to come play with biggest tournament we will lose the shake card in this tournament every year second place and so we brought kg and he stayed at my crib in the wood for the week we practiced at the high school you know people heard of him so we was having practice it was open gym so they let everybody come in and watch you watch oh yeah watch yeah we looking I ain't never seen a cat this tall seven feet out here just don't care like y'all seen kg in the lead right through this is high school I'm talking about every time he block your shot in the stands he like oh like like I think he was worse young like that's all it was I've never seen like y'all see this in the league this didn't just happen in ready yeah like the intensity was like that not never seen that like this I was like damn sweating everywhere he seems you're doing that they messed up oh he turned up on he black way so he played him in the championship week is he flying I'll be playing his Vegas Turner we meet the championship we get to the championship again but this time we got cagey we got all the top players shake cotton illusion me man chasing hard you're lining they all on one team and it's just the cagey turn see Aaron these are the catch if they watch this yeah Sam was like a little Tony out a little defense he was garbage though you remember Dobbs you told me how you turned him out of game 21 a nice no he was he just a little defensive player I gave my 21 at two minutes he bowed as that's fast that's fast that's max winning the tournament you know afterwards kg lived in South Carolina but we was in Vegas you know you're a country kid this is first light City South Carolina but while we have Vegas he tell you the story how we had him like jumping out of cabs running we was like we just we take a cab like re going to Circus Circus today so we bought the Pulitzer we ain't got no money we jumping in a cab we buy all right look we're gonna meet over here so we gonna dip the cab Paul we jump out we've run a cage II don't know what's going on we start breaking it did we get inside Circus section we all meet up he was all heart racing fans like man what is we do it this is in Vegas used to that this is too much it's too lights and then go from South Carolina Vegas oh man he was like man y'all too wild out here cuz I tried to get him so he was moving South Carolina and I was talking to her after the tournament he was gonna come play with me at Inglewood he was like man I'm leaving South Carolina I did get out he got his trouble out there so I was between Chicago in LA but I just think we was a little bit too much fun but little did he know going to the Chicago was the same thing and so I was this close to be a high school teammates so growing up in that leg obviously you're like you're fair right yeah talk about that that was a must I wore a Laker sweater I'll show y'all pictures I got a Laker sweater I still wear every day to school know I was a hoodie that I got I mean who could not be a Laker fan for me I grew up right down the street from the floor mm-hmm right there in Inglewood watching magic I hated the Celtics it was like you you from a lady let alone Inglewood where the forum is and I miss you a Laker fan you know how can you not be I mean so that's what make it real ironic when I get drafted to the south and I didn't work out for the stuff so then when I look back at my career man it's like damn some [ __ ] it's meant to be crazy right it's crazy I heard you speak on it before like you stay an extra year in college because you want to come out and possibly be that you know the number one pick yeah that time it could have possibly been the Clippers right yeah so all right Timbers was the number one pick and I was like oh I want to go all that play so I worked out floor and then I asked him for a second workout like [ __ ] him I was he projected to go number two to the Vancouver Grizzlies and so Clippers wanted a big man they picked a little candy and then I'm sorry I'm locked in I'm gonna go to Vancouver play with Shareef abdur-rahim me a him look Drive come I just slip I'm all-american I'm a top-five player in college I'm off a National Player of the Year so I'm wondering like why is it I'm slipping I'm slipping in the draft like alright I'm no worse than top five go to state pass I could tell you the same order Clippers Denver no Clippers Vancouver Denver Golden State no fight no Toronto was for go to stay five and Dan you God Milwaukee Sacramento was six Milwaukee Dallas Boston and that's I went to the gym after that when I got picked if I went to the gym in I was shooting Clippers Denver Vancouver all the teams that passed me yelling out the cult who the coaches boom Larry Brown hit all Sam I'm like this is all this is my motivation coming out with vengeance then I'm coming out cuz I'm competitor I was competitive I want to be the number one pick I want the if bad worse too so now all these eight nine teams that passed on me this one before they can can't you went to Kansas I was that like drawing to joining that tradition and yeah your time with kind of Kansas I was curly top all that was curly top falls from Inglewood to Kansas was Ottoman culture shot yeah like straight up like I never seen farms I never I never been I lived around all minorities like my skin that's all I ever grew up around like and then you go on you see in all these nationality white Indian I've got like like cattle but I needed to get out of LA you know I was kind of like wasn't really a great student was almost didn't make it because my grades likely have scholarship but I was like I could've went to USC you know all the West Coast could you sell a you so late actually just won a national championship so I was supposed to be the next in line to help them win it again as a top player so I was just like I knew myself and I was like do I was getting in trouble I was on the streets it was just you know it's me and my mom and I'm doing pretty much whatever I want mmm she working two jobs you know night shifts and not get home till late door whatever and it's like you know my older brothers is out the house but also I need to get out of here I need to get to Kansas like you see it a minister's son reaping them to kids yeah even if of the kids I got the kids it's like this is where I need to go yeah I'll I need to get away from everything and focus on school and just hoop and I just said I stayed there in the summer I was I'm not coming home you know how friends that still into cuz you remember I think about it people always trying to get home in the summer especially you go like that yeah I mean but I have friends that lost a life in high school I'll just I was seeing this in front I'm seeing this at a young age I'm like you know I need to get away you know some can happen to me I live in a volatile area mm-hmm and so I need to get away again and you got to be mature you got a noble you see the stuff you see as a kid you like no kid should be able to like grow up around kind of shots firing every other night you putting your hands over your ears losing friends at a young age and when you see that edges you grow up fast man and you try to make tough decisions and I decided to get out college basketball was real back then because that's kind of really before people started jumping straight to the pros it means all the best players were in college yeah three four your three four years yeah a little bit man college was a scene you had Kentucky that's why Walker Allen Iverson Ray Allen Kerry Kittles Marcus Camby you had I mean it was so many Tim Duncan Keith van Horn all day this is my college air like I'm talking about everybody was staying today junior year I was leaving until you know kg was the first one out of high school people didn't know you can go out of high school he went out 95 but everybody was leaving a junior year man we Mike Bibby oh man he put us out he put me out the tournament two times like a killer my freshman year was proposed to go there and in to win a national championship Mike Freight one day they beat us to go to Final Four we was the favorite that year was on your team notice just for people who don't know I play with a Jacque Vaughn who made pros Scott Potter played in the pros Raef LaFrentz prey to the pros then we had a scrappy guard Jer Hassim his coach i stanford right now was tough shooter yeah we have Billy Thomas was a shoe rocker banjee and he to play some years in the pro tool so then Basilica we had a pro squad we were supposed to win it we were supposed to learn every coach and with Roy Williams Island field house man you don't even know when I stepped on that campus growing up in that let go I do to your cell a games and they was the champs that year but when I stepped on and I saw a Kansas game it was like nothing I just knew I had to go to the crowd I mean y'all see it on TV man it was just like something I had to play for people don't understand that I mean obviously went to UCLA but when you cut UCLA SC no matter what there's it's LA so there's always so much other [ __ ] going on yeah the Clippers the Dodgers whatever whatever when you go to one of these smells like basketball is absolute life at Kansas we was the problem or liner right that's the only show in town so the environment is suited for you guys yeah I was signing autographs like every day like we was like the pros like we going places getting free food at the restaurants I'm like I felt like a pro already and it was a slow down I feel like I already made it you'd be surprised man this I don't know like it's just different it's different people spend a night people put wheels on a ticket like seriously awesome down and well here I'm seeing this like yeah this is my first real like feeling they're like crazy basketball culture you know I never seen nothing like this and you're like you said up into that point you hadn't been around this pretty much all white people out there right yeah for sure okay love I went I went to junior college and Butler and budding hands oh yeah I can take tell my culture shock I could not take it quick but knowing that after you going through that and you grow up in LA Laker fan your whole life and end up a cell to I know what was that you know like I know I was feeling real like when I got drafted when I was like did I ain't going over there you know had it I was oh you know what the day was tagged it was just like I was happy to be a pro like we all do yeah you know man at the end of the day I'm Ian now yeah yeah like I don't even think it really matter where I went but when I got picked cuz it was shocking I was supposed to go to the top I ended up number 10 it - it seemed I didn't even work out for mm-hmm it so but then it was the Celtics and I'm hearing all these stories about Rick Pitino I was scared I was like [ __ ] I'm like oh man my few bombs I gotta go play for Rick Pitino I heard his practices it's crazy like if I thought my practice that Kansas was art that's the only thing going through my mind but I was like man I'm in now I don't care don't care if I played for the Celtics even though I hated them growing up no man you know I'm saying I mean I think that's what it was all about all of us we didn't care where we ship the commissionnaire we in yeah tell me about your relationships I mean once you're in this historical franchise Red Auerbach Bill Russell you know all your rates understand the tradition of the franchise yeah I had a chance when I first got there I met Red Auerbach and I got a golf a charity golf thing he would do every year and it's my first time meeting them so I'm sitting on the couch and he comes sit down next to me and I'm like how you doing mr. Auerbach he was like you know he got a cigar that that was real he always had a cigar he was like yeah I watched you at Kansas I didn't even think he knew who I was at the time you know saying it's like yeah Pierce I watched you at Kansas you need to do this for younger the first thing we just started talking basketball and then but now it's like damn just red auerbach talking to me so now it's like damn look at this culture bill Russell's around John Havlicek these are kind of Legends just coming around like now part of this culture I go from one tradition at Kansas so another basketball tradition with looks like legends everywhere and they support they at the games they and they off the court with you I had a chance have dinner with Bill Russell of times such a core brand Maxwell Colin bridge yeah that's my boy that's my man cornbread Tommy Heinsohn just to just hear the stories you know you just like soaked up all the stories you sit there talk to Russell you stood there talk to Heights and like I was you know how was Bert how was you know how was Hondo you know how was having a check yeah you know what you get a chance to that of I hear my like you know how was they off the court you know how did they create be he be shocked man they back in the day thanks to smoke cigarettes in the locker room yeah that was a locker room frigerator they got pictures of that in Boston that's look they got pictures of guys on the self to smoking the cigarette after the game it's still in a uniform yeah like people don't even know this like it's a picture with the beer case right there in the locker room so you get to say what are you 20 when you get to Boston yeah I just turned 21 where are you at just as a man you mean castrate California kid throwing in the Kansas it was just kind of a culture shock but ends up being great now you're thrown into Boston yeah all this history I mean the thing is to like as a young man you just you hear Boston as a racist city mm-hmm you know what I'm saying like it's about Africa yeah yeah no doubt and coming from LA and Kansas and going to Boston it's like that's all you thinking about it's like man I'm in a racist it's just no it's no it's like no you know and I'm just like trying to find my way I'm over here got a part of me and oh no you know which way is left snow more snow and another culture shock again three culture shock and you know hearing these accents you know yeah yeah all I'm thinking like man this city is racist but you know what Boston this has really like as far as sports they pioneered a lot of the black athletes you know I'm saying first black coach first teemed of draffa african-american player and you know I learned about the history but that still don't take away about how people are but you know I really didn't have a chance to really feel a lot of racism because I was a sports rights their purses on the ground yeah together no matter who cut what color whatever the situation is yeah and so um you know I don't I didn't know that life would come full circle that I'll be coming from LA and living in Boston all years so you come out with the strong rookie campaign you may come out the gates and strong talk about your first year in the league playing for the southeast now yeah so I came in with a chip on my shoulder I came in with a straight chip I wasn't gonna like wait for nobody I was just like I'm here I'm pissed that these other teams didn't draft me right I'm coming out this is it oh you only get one shot and this was my shot I need to make a name for myself right now that was just the fire and me the competitiveness and I wasn't gonna take a backseat to nobody I mean that was my mentality I'll just like either love me or hate me straight up this is who I am this is how I play every night like an adult so coming from LA like you said you made a conscious decision knowing what kind of [ __ ] you was running in the street ripping and running you make a move to Kansas to get out of California you get to Boston September 24th 2000 never forget that day stabbed eight times nearly died mm-hmm talk to me about that I mean you know it all started I was you know I was young you know hanging out all the time going to the clubs you know as I was a night when I went in buzz Club and I caught myself talking to some young ladies you know I'm single at the time next thing I know one of the lung ladies I don't know if it's her dude I don't know what next thing I know a guy approached me like that's like you know you don't talk to her nobody way she's like like I already mess with dude okay next thing you know I'm in a tussle with him it happened so fast man normally it happened so fast I don't even know how I got into it it's just one do right here the next thing I know the story come out I was fighting with three guys you know once it was all over with it's over I'm standing up I know I didn't even know I was being stabbed so I looked up I got a jacket on I look up and I my jacket just red blood everywhere I'm kind of leaking down my face I can't really keep my eyes open and they like you stabbed you need to go to the hospital I was with uh Derrick Patty and Tony but II was out the club that night but we kind of like separating well you know walking around some of the females and stuff it's on a good cool dude yeah and then that night changed my life man I remember being at the hospital banging on the hospital door and you know I asked him how am I gonna die am I gonna die I'm having shortness of breath and you know it really changed my life for me to get through that where you got stopped there I got stabbed three times in the stomach and five times in the back by like two different knives and bottle two got hit upside the head with a bottle I got a scar right side of my I had to have plastic surgery on on this part because it was all scraped out I didn't even know when you are drilling this boy yeah you ain't you don't feel none of that you know I was I wasn't on the ground out of it you know I'm up like bend over I realized I was this was all happening and it was like then I had a big old scar yeah so all this was happening and I'm like damn I got to change her something man I could have been I could have been I seen how many people I affected come on you know everybody it was on the news I mean I'm getting important of letters and stuff I'm just happy and in you know the crazy part about it man and I respect life and I appreciate life so much it helped me appreciate life I'll get home after two days in the hospital and I've seen the news and they show a kid teenager got stabbed twice and died and I'm like damn you know I'm saying I oh man I'm lucky man I'm lucky I can't I can't let my family down putting myself in these positions I mean you know stuff happens though you know I'm still a kid hanging out having fun I mean you don't know mm-hmm you don't know and it just it really changed my life I don't think I went out like people don't know this but I actually carried a gun for two years right after that I was so paranoid like I kept it in the car I had it on me I was so paring the way like after that I was just like I couldn't be in crowds I'm like you know you something like that happens to you man it's traumatic especially you know where you're going you ain't bothering nobody and a hearty to do knew who you was and a lot of times there's really just some hating [ __ ] they expect you they expected for you to take the disrespect and not defend yourself you know saying and it always turn the opposite form in the end up getting their ass whipped but the harbor but let's see what it is is you you end up Carter situation and you look wrong but you really just out enjoying yourself yeah you know I'm saying but that's the desert should that attract us as when you're successful but you know what stag but the thing of us as as athletes we people look at us and we targets I mean you see today you know how rappers they getting killed and you know certain things is having enough two guys especially african-americans we targets when we get famous mm-hmm and I don't know don't know other culture you don't hear about this type of stuff it's like we hate on each other mm it's a shame is it's the same type of [ __ ] though and it's a perfect example use a person that's not famous or make it out of your hometown and don't come back nobody don't care let's our peers making it don't come back to give back well here sellout he ain't [ __ ] man her daughter both of y'all successful but you more famous you ain't [ __ ] you know that's just how it is with it but I want to touch back to because this is so this is 2000s as before mental health has talked about it all and like you said you touched on your paranoid the anxiety the fear right touch on that because that this is before this was touch today is not mainly to talk about this kind of [ __ ] back then yeah man like I said I've been really I had it was so bad that I couldn't even like sleep I got wake up in the middle of the night people don't like this is story a lot of people don't know I had to have a 24-hour police surveillance in my house that's our paranoid I was sit outside and I didn't all I did was go to the gym at home for like a good two-year stretch man I was just like it changes you do you you don't know where to go you don't know who to look at you don't know you you on your toes yeah I've really on your toes like man I'll kill anybody say like I'm just like that I was like like that man and so I had to channel all that energy just to our basketball no just like man I'm I was like sort of pointing like losing it so all I want to do is go to the gym so now I'm hours in the gym cuz you know our basketball is fast I start sense yeah yeah that time we're in the gym we don't think about nothing else mmm you know that whatever period we got right there everything else go out the window where's girl problems family problems money problems whatever it's just that you you just you know how that is just like that one moment you got it that day I turned that into like hours in the chill dome like four or five hours in the gym I didn't want to like stop poop and I didn't want to go home cuz now I'm all right it paid off in the next year career highs you play two games like if that was the positive side from which way I went to it made you lock in yeah I channeled all my energy by every single game I did not want to not play trainer I did not want to not play a game like right now I'm like this low management I'm like I can't you can't tell me to sit down but how many people can how many stars can actually say and and it played 82 games though even it however ain't so many stars can say that a lot of guys would beat up y'all took it y'all took a beating back then playing two games dog that says align it you got it you got respect from all your peers when I bring them up I can say he played two games it's hard it's hard cuz you people thinking you ain't it's not because you're not edger you you playing through something mm-hmm you playing through some you gonna have it I don't care mr. Jim tow sprained fingers you plant through some you ain't going through 82 head and people don't realize your incident was what like a month away from training camp happiness right before the season and then people also don't know is that season is when you drop 42 or Co and got your nickname no tell me about that well like I said I was John player went to the staples you know I come home I hope you know you got to show out I got all these tickets I got all these tickets I got my homies my family and I'm like oh man I can't let him down so I made an appointed stable I gotta have a big game so it was a game where I dropped like 42 I believe you know while matched up with Cove and Shaq our beta champs you know David champs their court on a court and then after game it was just like I remembered reporter came up to me he's a nasty blow pit he was like you hear what Shaq said about you I was like what he said I'll take this quote and don't edit it Paul Pierce is the [ __ ] truth mmm it's so next is from Shaq after I dropped 42 so the next day and the paper is like Paul Pierce the truth and so now you know people are starting to call me that I'm like okay I'm fill the day they don't say homies is calling what's up truth just stop you know saying I was like all right so I gotta live up to this now yes so next night I think I dropped 40 again like yeah I think I've dropped back-to-back 40s at today my confidence was through the roof if you got diesel giving you a nickname you got a ride that's respect right there if the diesel giving it up for a decent I'll just give it up for nobody right straight speaking of stating that you remember the game that we are playing I don't know if it was magic with you and bear was about the charity game yeah you remember that yeah take over the midsummer nightmare summer nights all nighter people he grew a member the game and we were on the sideline we had all had tall cups of vodka dawg oh man with the game she thought I was out there his first possession and try to dribble it and dribble off his foot and chicks outdoor together that was that summertime that was this summertime party regarding eyes together with the staple of la summers yeah it was like you brought all the cats in the summer to hang out for a weekend but you and they really made that game that year yes I want to give you props on that so you get a taste of the playoffs 2002-2003 so back then this it's AI in this in the Sixers Jake kid with the nets you know Reggie Artest Jack ow no one there yes before you there's this before year before me yeah year I came here after that you know the team struggling Danny Ainge takes over it's a whole new day yeah man we went to the Eastern Conference Finals and then Danny Ainge come in like the next year trained Antoine I'm thinking we on our way people don't even know people think Paul Pierce has just started playing in the playoffs like I got some big playoff games on but like that the social media don't even know about you know I ended up liking to close our game we're reverse iris have 46 an hour at some big games versus Indiana turn series versus them yeah I played I played against you in the playoffs two years yeah I think you hit it on the head though because it's pre social media to me you're like one of the top five greatest closer clutch [ __ ] players of all like you embraced give me the ball in and I'm gonna make this [ __ ] shot Robin it's the biggest game I'm a drop for like that's what you were known for to people who really knew who write how many players got a plane that he had his own play from the side know I could when I lose five spots on the other side and he comes across the screen he comes to the other post I know you talking about the live play over the top yeah yeah I play that's why started that though we had that man he didn't talk about [ __ ] too cuz get out cold no I said the other day if he played today he'd be making 300 million and I don't doubt that I do not doubt that he was like one of the original stretch for handles problems long was a problem Cybertron that song employed number eight he was a problem I was tough yeah he was a problem dog he can get we got some problems though I was in Indiana when I came back from the bra from your vacation yeah had a 30 game vacation you was one of the most underrated I say at the position say he got jumper I remember I go look Jack don't know this but I'll never forget this guy playing against Jack in San Antonio I don't know how much you had that night but I know you hit the clutch three over me it was like late and then get them shots I don't forget you get a three and it was on it was on if I'm facing you you was on the left wing which would be your right wing I'll never forget this if you go back and look at the tape I don't forget this you hit a three that was so bad break and we was and I ain't one of San Antonio ever at this point this is the place I lost 10 straight years we met we went for 10 straight years and this was a close game we had and he had a big three and I was like but he was smooth as they get though I missed that I wasn't there I wish I would have been there do you was talking to our and drained and asked for you after you whisper like Bonnie sweet nothings to another [ __ ] look I'm finna go this way and I'm gonna pull up and see that no more when you see AI talking [ __ ] the cone is talking to the paper like that two guys that's like that like I say West Westbrook nobody I love it too oh hey I got no friends yeah I got my friend that's what I saw was I don't know weak like as cool as we all know each other we didn't play it inside we go after right never cool write your personal jacket a personal bad to me either like a personal we go you gonna blow me imma bow you after the game gonna family alright but see me playing again she was dead because I actually studied you like yeah my a lot of lot of your game I put my game especially in the post like you had the best footwork ever as a guard especially post up like we all talked like we always talked about that so I used to try to figure that out because it wasn't profile dribbles with you it's one dribble and you took advantage of steps so like we gotta get your praise too because you you are definitely probably started the post game for us in our era and all guards started posting up after that yeah yeah I just I just studied the game and I always tried to get better you know I'm saying I knew I wasn't the most athletic out there so I had to find ways I knew I had to jump heard I could set up other things and you know just working just constantly working on the craft Oh you at your pace - he was always at your pace then what nobody to hurry me my food I was strong so I could give a shoulder if I didn't buy you I could just give you our shoulder to get space and so I really like studied the game and just learn what mushrooms was I played with in that mastered some bodies got somebody's yeah I had a chance to play for Doc great motivator mental preparation is very big with him talk to what you felt like he brought to your team man doc was somebody we all respect because he played the game all the time you know before doc I didn't play with a coach that play that play so it's like you know doctor understood the players and you respected that mm-hmm and he gonna keep it real with you may we bump heads people we bumped heads though when we first got there me and I got the same as I birthday October 13 we bump we bump heads we arguing we had time miles we ain't seeing eye to eye so it took it took a while flustered like we went from mr. to really get to this you know it wasn't always smooth we clashed a lot but at the end it was it was worth it because doc turn me into the player that I ended up being and uh you know I was defying that first want to do it my way but he really taught me the game I heard he was someone who like you said you good bump head but he was someone who's really meant you like he said he shaped you but he mentally challenged you as well but like talk about a little bit from that aspect as far as like I said being a former player but knowing how to get the best out of you yeah I mean dr. who know was a motivator he definitely challenge your day-to-day dr. fight you I try to explain something like just a difference why people respect certain coaches that play more than it respects somebody's coaching they haven't played because you know any situation in the game whether it's some [ __ ] or whether there's anything they didn't been through it yeah so if you go to them you get an honest opinion somebody that's been there and experienced is always the best teacher without a doubt are they dark definitely we had our arguments and that's what pushed my blando cuz he was real which we let you know when you ain't you ain't playing to your potential and taking days off or who you posted like Pete what do you you know he taught me to be a real leader you know to do it every night and practice its start and practice you know the carry in the game and you know he was able to teach me that cuz I was frustrated our first man like playing on so many bad oh man I saw it's like people don't know I was almost out about tell me I was having meant I was having means with the ownership by you know to say working this the year before we got cagey you know this is a year Kevin Durant wasn't kind of I was like we lose we lost 18 in a row we not getting to the playoffs you know I was like y'all should trade me trap Kevin Durant ain't a year and build on out so I thought I was I was really trying to get to Dallas of people don't even though I was trying to get to Dallas really cuz they just they got upset yeah y'all papa but I was like there I give them I was like I would have been the team to help them get over the top that was a good reason for me to like oh they needed you yeah I was like if I could get there that's like they're gonna win 50 games they just need me over there I felt like I had a talk with but they was like you know we don't stick with you we gonna we're gonna build this team out you know we didn't get the number one pick and the rest history we want them in the fifth pick train for Ray and traded for kg now we own more years how things could just turn around let me guess you guys win the year before man I think we only won like 25 games man finals the next win the championship they straight up it changed overnight talk to us about that and what that team dynamic and chemistry and how it all came together you guys are really the first big three although it happened it happened to Trey happened a lot of people think we orchestrated this I mean Danny Ainge got it Trey you know now everybody going to play one in the right ours was the organic straight up and so that when we tried it for Ray I was like okay we're not rebuilding no more we're trying to do something about her we try it for ticket we got tickets are coming and throwing us under the bus don't nobody under the bus but job big three to me was with you Rondo and kg I didn't put ray in y'all big three I made the person now you remember the person value that was just like it was just me Tony yeah Artie was dog yeah but people were scared of us we was out there being up to of a that I never forget those moments because when you play so long you have a chance to play on special teams y'all been on special teams they don't come around a lot you could be one of the lucky few ones to have a stretch but you know you just appreciate those times you can play with all those special teams and you can attest to this it's family its building talk to me a little bit about because we was laughing about it on set of ESPN maybe a month ago about Club shiznit oh shut up the close-knit that was a spot in my I had a basement that was like a club you know days when we didn't have practices next day we like regular our fellows we gonna have a good time in my house I'm have a chef come through we're gonna go out we're gonna meet at my house at like 2:00 a.m. we're gonna go to about 6:00 a.m. you know dude autumn all the guys on the team and we know we invite girls over and we go from two to six is Nick said we gonna be here two to six you know we gonna have a good time right here and get no get no trouble we gonna be good right here I'm gonna make sure my good and we're gonna go home right and I other players love that so yeah it was a good time for the fellas but that's how we built our camaraderie I saw we kicked it though cause the best bringing all the young boys that's how we go kicking and that that brought chemistry GP first got the club shiznit he was he he got traded to Boston he did not want to be a Boston but was he so in the midst of getting your first funders as a la Kate you're renewing the Boston Laker rivalry you and Kobe is always going head to head now you're doing in earnest man I was that was incredible just to be a part of that you know just growing up watching it and then finally and then being part of it it was a slide you know this was what got me in the hoops you know being a Laker fan watching the Celtics I hated the Celtics and now I'm part of the rivalry again meeting in the finals and to do it twice that was out special you know who the thought of kid from LA playing Boston playing against the Lakers in the championship we never win and then play against them again like my only two finals was against the Lakers did you feel like you had to win as a certain you had to like being one of the best players played and about the South uniform you had like your career can't be right unless you win one without a doubt no I mean like you gotta understand Jack you go to practice every day this is hanging over your head down right 16 banners all the numbers I'm like dude look at that pressure I got if I want to be one of these cats I gotta put one up here yeah I mean straight up this is everyday you gotta see this your white in the stands 60 yeah I got a live if I want to be one of them I got to yeah that was enormous pressure man but I wanted that and I wanna talk to us too cuz I think if I'm not mistaken that's is that the game you went off at Game one you went off in a wheelchair and came back why wrong with you parted off Pete and come back is turned it was a light spray Michael I was a life's frame but you know I'd never heard a pop I heard a pop but it was a like spring you automatically think the worst I'm thinking the worst laughs you know I was like it was like heard and I was like [Laughter] the doctor was like get the wheelchair he went like I was like I could walk it was like I'll give you a chance to try to get up I'll look at it like this is super dramatic to try to get up and put some weight on it you know usually it was like just pick him up [ __ ] there's like get the wheelchair hold on hold on when I gets invited my hold on man let me see let me see I feel like weight on it yet yeah you guys it's hurtin so I get him I put some weight on it so I feel like a little light spring I'm good I'm good I was just panicking but you realize what's at stake - yeah and I'm like I can't go out I can't be out of the finals right come on man now right now I'll put some weight on it on my all right I'm cool I'm cool I don't give me a knee brace put the D brace on it just like went back out there your City trailer was there all day you know this is the final right it's the lake's this is like come on now right now this is what my whole life waited for this moment okay I have to get down to put the knee brace on without their final WP button and you get the Finals MVP man that was like a dream come true man straight up you know you you know two hours we put in this gym you know the sacrifice we put into this game you know I mean it's just to get to that point like finally ten years in my career but people don't know to sacrifice the blood I spill the the sway I just sweat it you know the late hours to to not being around family members missing so of so much stuff it's because of that mm-hmm we dedicate our whole life to just this isn't it I mean when you retire you look back at it it's like damn I did that okay that's how much we loved it though it was just like a dream oh man so like I get the trophy look check this out though I fly to LA we go to Vegas we party then I get to LA famous restaurant on sunset katana I go up there with all my boys it's like about 10 15 of us can't tell you you can't tell me nothing I'm walking around all summer with a wife beater on my trophy in my hand and ice at the time I went outside outside on the patio sat the trophy right there in front of everybody right in the middle la boum we gonna kick back and eat drink man I must tell you dog they hated the hot restaurants where you mind kicking it and I put put the trophy right there on the table and sit outside everybody looking I got my crew like roof you could tell me nothing who can tell me no crazy because when we talk to Kovac that he said that was one of the hardest hits in his career losing 2010 that the finals no way yeah I mean the thing about that he got it back mmm oh that's the one I'll never forget that one he got back from us in 2010 oh man I know he said that was the sweetest one yeah he said that was the one yeah the loss to y'all was the toughest and the wind was the sweetest doing it well sure yeah yeah doing it what I was shocked oh man that was cold was he we had four all-stars do you know that yeah for all he was the only awesome in power he had powder saw but he toughened Pau Gasol oh man that first Finals we ran through Pau Gasol oh I've seen Kobe obliterate pal Gasol and I know how crazy I am I had to like but like you said he he made him a lot tougher he made them he made them all just another skill zero I don't think you could teach dog but Kobe put some of his dog in power and it's funny do you recognize Kobe the [ __ ] around when he came to take me back though cuz we jumped to both the the rivalry but people don't know like bran couldn't get through you Braun couldn't get through Ewing in the south to Cleveland talk about those battles epic battles yeah some battles dog Braun bought the best out of me though all right well I well you know you playing against the best he's gonna bring it out of you because if not you don't get embarrassed yeah and you know when I watch them today come on man kind of scared of them totally like tariffs you put the fear of God in everybody I'm like what's going on here no I wasn't having that mm-hmm I wanted that I wanted that smoke I wanted all of that all right all right I'm gonna guard him today gonna guard me cuz I'm going today and I'm gonna take it I mean you're gonna have to hit me upside my head all night and I'm gonna go and I'm gonna live with it I mean I know you brought it all but so I'm true so man he really he really elevated my plan I mean I'd have my career high verse somewhere I scored 50 oh we both scored I have 50 people on my feet beyond him yeah like 46 on me and one regular-season game and just those playoff battles he knew I was gonna you know I know I never was that LeBrons level but I know I can for one day I can be at his level moment maybe not every day but for that one day when we needed I could be the area yeah yeah that's what I was able to do I mean that game seven in the conference and in the playoffs will go down like one of my favorite games which is how we competed it was it was I didn't realizes cuz I remember I was like it happened so fast like the game adrenaline was still going and like people calling me like did I just watch this like alright what you know about my adrenaline I'm not like really how epic it was until like down the road and when I look at it now it's like that was a game that really helped solidify kind of like my career to the next level losers losing in 2010 you said it hurt you talked about Kobe winning but how did that thank you man but 2010 I still not have watched that game seven we were up double figures in that game I still haven't watched it to this day really still to this day yeah I don't know if I could like I'm like looking like what could have been a second championship like that okay I don't think I ever watched that game I don't even know if any other players watch it cuz it was in our hand to him it was in our hand to beat the Lakers again again in the dude on a floor and I would have been like dang I won at home now oh that's the game we're running into three yeah Ron was falling but you know that was I'm gonna head off the ROM ass cuz I was matched up with him he he came to play that game but there was the take the lesser of two evils ya know yeah I mean do we lay around all day do we let Ron shoot or do we try to crowd Kobe you know it's like I'm gonna be helping off him because we're gonna try to stop you know and the hats off for him he'd knock down some big shots for them and I should have been in the fan programs to cloud Kobe everybody in the arena crowd it's like so does he grab the ball my eyes is on him so bran goes to Miami as we sent them there yeah we sent them there you couldn't get past the big three yeah it's all victory now mm-hmm so they go and do that talk to us about that could there was some battles - yeah when they did that I think alive I was like world breaking news town was change the landscape of the game I think everybody cheating when they said the brown Wade and Bosh was on one team I was like what Dad you talking about our big three was cool I was like man ain't nobody gonna beat them like I said that I said that I was like when I saw them I was like they doing something different this is different this is the next coming to like Jordan and Pippen or something I was like I can't believe we did that they did that and I was like I knew I was over you guys bad on the playoffs that year though talk to us about we battle we battle where we just knew we didn't have enough I mean we thought we can get and we went to games well yeah we went to Game seven with the Miami him yeah two-point game two point game with four minutes to go in the net I am I am yeah and they just fell apart bran took over that was our last really bran you guys have been a series though right yeah we went up three - he was up three - and Dan went home for the closeout game six as playoff games ever i'ma say this hmm I think that was one of the most defining games of LeBrons because they're absolutely crazy turn the corner that game it was just like because people was like is he clutch is he this is he soft for that but after that game no question there was no more question yeah that game right there it was like he couldn't miss he hit everything he was gone dunking everything and they needed it because all the pressure cuz did not think about it it was like sure one two three championships remember that interview was like I'm not lose that game oh man it would have been a media nightmare for me and so he put them on their shoulder not bad I think that turned him right there that turned him into a beast right there yes so go in you guys lose to them and then that's kind of at the beginning of the end of your big three and then you lose a key component and I've heard you know we hear from the outside looking in how it went down and he did do this he did you like what did and didn't happen with Ray Allen left well this is my hotel already and the reason I had a problem a little blind he went to our rival well James LeBron James was a rival of the Celtics regardless if he was in Cleveland right or Miami and it goes with some of the heated matchups and it was a slight down they just beat us and then you're gonna go over there - I was like calling I'm like you know they was in the middle contract negotiating with him Celtics before he left and he wouldn't answer nobody call and I'm hearing that he's talking about going to my so I'm calling them he's not returning my call I just feel like as a certain respect as a teammate as a brother we could have this conversation like if you know wanna play with us know more at least let us know so like father like you know bro it's a situation I'm gonna go over here but - just don't say nothing to us don't talk to us and then get up and go over there to me I felt that was like a slap in the face or disrespect from a breath and you know what I'm saying so that was my whole beef with her you know and you know other guys felt the same way mm-hmm you know and since then me and him I've talked and you know you get everything as brothers you know I don't have no problem with right today right I don't know the situation with Kevin and Rondon everybody else but I'll smooth things over with him but I just thought initially as a brother somebody you've been through stuff with you know our families our kisses our friends and our wives as our friends and you just get up and don't say nothing and then it's like you go to them I just felt that wasn't disrespectful mm-hmm and that's why if people didn't know the story that's the story right there mm-hmm Waimea Hill happy you talk about it with kg yeah I talk about it a lot yeah man man we talked about it and you know some sometimes you know people make up sometimes people don't I don't that's him mm-hmm how he gonna deal with it you know I respect it either way I mean you know you killed a certain way about it maybe your story is different than mine right you know so but that's my story I've always been someone just kind of in the midst of it because I just kind of feel like I wasn't supposed to be here to the beginning so I've always been a somewhat just a fan and taking everything in and respecting your game and respecting the great people I got a chance to play with and against but I always thought you would be a Celtic for life yeah so we 2013 and traded to Brooklyn which Boston is still to this day people don't know benefiting off that trade yeah but talk to me about how hard it was there just to finally leave Boston that was a tough pill to swallow leaving Boston mouth on for sure I always said after I won a championship been to too far like I'm overtired here I've been here 15 years like I'm gonna lay it down a year to Andy here so when you know Danny talked about the possibility of train I was like really you know we've been here all this time and you know but the fact that he had that talk and didn't that's why I respect Danny because it wasn't I didn't wake up and I was like golf but we had a conversation he was just like we're looking to rebuild I could put you in a situation where you can have another shot at it and we talked about Brooklyn and it was just like it wasn't just send us off anywhere but I mean kg got traded together and we just like all right we can select a little mutual agreements all right ain't looking every bill here they were looking to trade get some draft picks you know the run is over I could send out a Brooklyn there Williams Joe Johnson y'all okay so give us a shot I guess you know at this age I'm older get to go to New York you know at least I got cab with me and so you know as much as it's done and it was a tough pill to swallow like alright we can't swim you two agree man and I'm glad we can have this conversation that's me and Danny right you know yes yeah oh you so loyal to a franchise so long but I think and you know people get lost in the mix while players leave and they're doing it's such a business but when we do something on our side is [ __ ] up but so do you all we ask is communication let us know where we stand exactly exactly that's art and that's why I come for ever respect him for that and because they don't have an auditor no you look up now you look up on Twitter or Instagram and you trade it [Music] they didn't have no pics when he was with Phoenix they traded for Steve Nash they had one picked the second to last picking the stamp set and the second round on the drive and they picked me oh yeah I didn't own any so I favor speak [Music] so Brooklyn you guys go there well like you said with Joe Johnson still one of the most underrated players in the game bust my ass in the big three championship last year shadow Joe Joe in there Williams you know at one time was arguably the best point guard in the game so you're having to solid solid future hall-of-famer vets going to Brooklyn talk about your brief time in Brooklyn yeah I mean it started off rocky cuz we was we was garbage at first we could win I remember you know J kid this is his first time coaching he the coach man I'll never forget this story dog Christmas we playing the Bulls they blow us out on national television and check here come in there yelling he yelling at us I know kg Cotter and guy Jake here face dog I thought he was about the woods thank you I was live went up in his face I know who had his towel on like he had his towel on like by the getting a shower in front of everybody and then just walked off to the shower I swear from that point on it turned our season around like Katie cares so much no I mean it wasn't just random beginning of Jake here face Jay kid you know okay so you have the point is career like oh yeah let me say yeah a lot of years yeah they pier they played Olympics together all right but I swear from that time from that point it turned our season around 2 kg just let the fire under Jay under us and we just started bawling after that but he got I thought he's I thought this was gonna be a trail Sprewell part - mmm like straight I was scared for Jake you I can't see Jake here personality kg person I couldn't I couldn't see them going to blows in the locker room our fighters watch from across the room man take you ain't no punk either now got straight-up area so uh [ __ ] now you face Miami in the playoffs again they can do and we're Brooklyn mm-hmm you know the thing is crazy thing is we beat them four times that year in the regular season we so I'm thinking we we got a shot you know regna season that we watch it no matter playoffs come take them but it was too much for us the Browns in this prime who's priming he was priming this is the best you know he's still prime and actually I never seen a prime this one he started since his fourth year he was prime and I write just good I couldn't get over once he moved on I couldn't get over to the bra no more and so that was uh now stuff so then you moved to Washington and I heard you talk about this before this is kind of like you say you know this is you're heading towards the end so now you're mentoring some really young talented players but still having your moments yeah I mean knocking down big shots calling game Washington was one of the funnest that was my year stretch I never had just now put into a role to where I'm old G right I got two young stars killers too you know yeah I kind of mom pin get they mind right you know see them develop every day show them how to do it you know I ain't come over there like I went over there like look man John Brad this y'all team running I'm over here just to help this is y'all team I had my day where I was this is y'all before and I want y'all to know that I'm not coming over here for that I'm here to help y'all need especially from hall-of-famer yeah they need to hear that that's like one of the first conversations I have well I'm just here to help I'm gonna work every day I'm gonna give y'all my experience and mid so y'all this is how y'all need to work maybe days they come in are like nah y'all need to get on the court ain't no like come on Mike do y'all need to go a little harder y'all the leaders y'all ain't going hard enough but Mike when people heard me say that to them like coaches and other teammates it was like nobody ever went at them with a lot of time you can't it's a crazy world here so the way you talk to stars yeah so for you to be able to come in they're in and they needed to hear it too yeah so it probably shocked a lot of people I don't think they've just been around a lot of guys they really respected mmm and I knew our God they respect because I ha came to proud approached every day they like damn the og he coming to practice every day he ain't taking no days off he here early he he get shots up he lifted hey so they starting to see that now they starting to do it and that's what I want the brain of a dad bad bad year was so much fun especially to play alright I wasn't gonna put up big numbers no more yeah did you talk to us about word that DNA come from I think it come from just not caring about fella no like I was like if i'ma make the play or not I hold my head hard alright do the next one I'll get the next one fellas but I have to install that in my teammates too cuz like if you and them situations that you let your teammates down and then you you kind of like corrupt and you lose them so like when I was in these moments cuz there's a lot of moments I didn't come through but I'll be like I sorry I'm the next one I got the next one right like I had don't worry I'm gonna get the next one you got to keep them gasps lightens okay we believe in P time I come this way come this way you got to show your team confidence in them situations whether you fail or you succeed you got a steel shoulder yeah oh my go down right and I'm gonna take it from the media after don't worry it's cocoa ain't nobody following that right tough so you heading home now final year you go back and play with the team you possibly thought you could have been the number one pick - yeah it was a year 17 for you you're 17 you're a yeah you're 18 I'm into the Clippers so I was like just a move like alright I'm coming home my boobs doctors here's making the easy transition to retirement I normally live in Los Angeles that's worth you know from my family and so I decided to make the move you know at that point I don't know didn't have much left in the tank so you know I was just pretty much I just was pretty much at the country club and truthfully go home be a mentor you know didn't really player lives but I was ready my medicine was ready for retirement and so at the end I was like how am i how can I just help doc you know play sparingly but I had a real magical moment though at the garden your last time at the garden talk to us about that oh yeah the way I couldn't I was watching the game and to see you come in and hit these [ __ ] shots I'm just like yeah my last game at the Boston Garden I was special I was like damn you know when you retire me and I and I see it coming I'm like this is it this is the last time I'm a step on this garden floor you know it's like damn just really it you know this is really it you know I played all these years and I'm like damn so I had a chance to come in the last second and then when I look at my career I'll be like somehow harder this having it like you know damn you know I hit my last shot at the end of the game and then Boston Garden and just wave them off it was like damn it's supposed to have two pounds supposed to have let me come in here not one last shot that's pressure I was sitting the whole game right and I come in like the last minute stiff you're selfish yeah I'm still busy but just you know sometimes moments happen for a reason I was putting the special moments where I could knock down one last shot in the garden who was the other owner when you got drafted when you wanted to get me supposed to get job for the Clippers who was on of October then Donald sterling so as good it didn't happen just high post jobs I've just thought about that you didn't want to go to anyway here from California man Inglewood to be exact and then to go into a city of Boston for so much history yeah but then a history of races I mean you hear and you're kind of just like but you're here now and then when it's all said and done you got your number up in the rafters with bird talk about that you know I never could have dreamed that one you know the dream was like Hari I don't want to grow I want to play for the Lakers I want to win the championship on it I never would have dreamed that would write the Celtics yeah you know that one was like the fathers of my dream like I'ma be a Boston Celtic when the championship give my number retired in the Boston card Wow I came from LA I care from a lady who would have thought that and I remember at my um at my retirement speech today the night and went up I just remember saying like man there's so much history in this building and for me to be a part of it I was like if I never make the Hall of Fame for me to get my number retired in Boston yes that's all I have that's all I ever need to be up there with them you know that's crazy when did you finally just kind of sit back and look cuz I don't I don't know I'd never do until now like when did you finally kind of sit back like god damn and just look at your soon-to-be Hall of Fame career now I still do it right three years in the retirement I still look back in like man yeah I play nineteen years like didn't work man I still look back like this is like I guess you right because we're you in the middle of it you just in the middle of in the moment so now you know sometimes I catch myself like you know let me look at some YouTube or me let me see if I could have played in this error you know you could just so much highlights you someone and I said I think Melo gets this treatment too like but I think more you because there was really no social media when you were when the truth started like you get overlooked and disrespected as as someone who was one of the greatest small forts in the history of the game hands down and people don't understand that and how does it how does that make you feel does it you know it real Hooper's no other like today you know perception is reality now and you know because what a lot of people think of my career they only think of the big three they know the work think I'm being a baby they don't see the Primo they don't see that part of my career they only know the big 3 era where the reason why Braun and so like when it's always been like that for me so it goes back to draft night I got drafted number 10 overlooked so it starts so this is nothing new for me that's what Paul Pierce is he's gonna be overlooked probably hunter radius sometime but I'm fine with that you know it's real like you say real real no really no really no real and nothing I'm cool with that right I'm cool with that that's all that matter we all been through a lot is there anything that you that you would go and change that you which we shouldn't go back and change on your career you know what I think we all go to things and all go through struggles for a reason you know even from me being stabbed in the nightclub so I don't know if they I don't think there's anything I would change my story right because I think I'm kind of mold you to who you are you know through the good through the back it's just emotional and you know now I can go back and tell my kids good stuff the bad stuff tell them who they dad you know was and I'm proud of it matter as though you know I'm proud that certain things happen in my life that I was able to get through and shape you you know I just tells you who you gonna be you know so I'm happy I'm happy with it all don't talk to me real quick what do you think would have happened if you would have got rank AG three or four years before we talked about that man yeah Kevin do we talk about that I really was in Minnesota we at the end of the year we competing against each other like it's the playoffs this is like one of the last games of the year well things wasn't very good he wasn't going to playoffs Minnesota I wasn't going to play off so we talking [ __ ] to each other and I remember looking it was 2005 I believe 2006 I remember we talked a wick our owner sitting on the bass line I'm at the free thing like this kgs out the free-throw line I look right at him and I was like if we get him we're gonna win the championship during the game this in the middle of the game this I'm at the free-throw line you know about the box out owner sitting right there this out closely is on the baseline he thought self we get him we're gonna win the championship that was three years before we got yelled it out everybody heard wish it could happen sooner the championship win unless it was all meant to be there talk about him he had him we were lucky enough to have him on the show and that's the first time I really got a chance to feel his energy off the court oh man and it's similar yeah but the energy like you just feel his energy all day long people gravitate toward Kevin so like we plan on playing rice this is Kevin first get on the team so I remember we've been on playing rides and you know I had my little headphones on I'm sitting and you know flying and then I look over here at the table you know how to plant the flights we had they have someone had card tables we play cards so I looked over cagey sitting there and I'm looking at like five six of the young guys sitting around them like a campfire time just like they gravitated toward room like this and he just telling them stories and stuff yeah so you don't have to plan with a flight three four five years I'm hearing the same stories just gravitated toward us like May told me the story you didn't do that the last time oh man it was those the bestest show his energy how people just gravitated toward I mean we sit in the locker room next thing I know after practice we there for like two hours just listening the camera chopping it up you don't even realize the time going by those are the moments you missed though when you're done like I don't miss basketball I missed it but you missed those that times when you just [ __ ] with your people what it is there's a good thing about it - yeah off the course yeah bus ride train ride and then we all go through the same stuff you understand you guys we all just like just like before the we outside we talking about all the same stuff we've gone through off the court you don't say very similar so your transition into media will get to the ESPN and what you're doing but you gotten AB equal weight and this kind of goes to the social media era people are not understanding who you are and then you know Dwayne being too uh you know and all his greatness but talk to us a little bit about how that kind of got going what happened you know I think that was like really a big misunderstanding because like I respect way the way we knew that yeah but like for me as a competitor you know I think it was taken out of context now two questions was asked where you better didn't weigh it or do you have a better career was he supposed to say you know I was like I think I'm better you know clearly if you look at his accolades career-wise yes he won three championships yes he's one of the greatest two guards all-star MVP Finals MVP one of the greatest finals ever but I'm looking at it like do I think I'm a better player than way I said yes I think I thought I had I think I had more skill I think I'm taller I think I could do everything he can do on both hands now that's what I was referring to now whether you agree with it or you don't that's why even if you say that that's not would like it doesn't disrespect him doesn't greatness and that's what I hate how the media wants to spin [ __ ] and make it like a war when it's just when you really in depth get to explain just where you're coming from yeah I don't have to demean him to be confident in myself am i exactly it wasn't me putting him down right like I respect why I spent everything he's done for the game of basketball this is not me putting him down this is just how I felt well we won a championship I went to a camp in Spain and it's like how does it feel to play to beat the best player in the world and I was like wait I'm the best player in the world like this is what I said they made a big deal of it I was like well you know I'm just coming off the championship I'm just coming off a Finals MVP and I feel like the best player in the world that out of context you know why can I not feel like right why can't I feel like that I got the chip and the trophy and the MVP right so whatever people who don't take Paul Pierce out of context I just whatever did you see yourself doing what you're doing now did you see yourself getting paid good money to do it no man I really didn't but he see it but like I had a chance to work the finals while I was still playing the Clippers and I was just like should not do this every day like you'd be in the locker room talking hoops like I could easily talk hoops I mean this is my life this is what I do every day and so like I was like I could do this shoot if I could just go in the studio talk some hoops tell them what I feel about this what I feel about that I feel like I know the game that I could speak on it and so it was just like kind of like it's kind of like brought to him you know I was like you know I can't see myself doing this you know and it's worked out man I enjoy my job y'all still we still talk the gang they still sit around watch it like talking what's your thoughts on the current climate of the Celtics man truthfully before the season I was like okay they're gonna be all right but now the way Jason Tatum's playing I feel like they can go to the finals I mean he has tooken the next step mmm a superstardom and I was like before it's like maybe like you know you gotta have that star to win and he's turning into that right before our eyes like I mean this that he's on I don't see it slowing down anytime was like when I was just happy but I wouldn't watch the play and I was like yeah it's only a third year I was like it's a star yeah it felt like he'd been in the league right like I forget he was just a rookie playing against LeBron in the finals in the conference I forget that like it was just fourth or fifth year but there's third year doing what he's doing I feel like the south just can get to the finals I really do and I'm always honest about them like I didn't think it last year I said no I didn't think of the year you know before no no I like I'm just not play but I'm like but like actually I really think they can get to the finals I mean Milwaukee they good but do we like really believe in them like that first I mean yeah they don't get the respect but in the playoff yeah I mean we're like mm-hmm any number one nothing I would say the regular season and the Warriors have the greatest regular season we didn't win that year well yeah almost kind of like waters it down like you got to here in the playoffs to get that respect absolutely so now after Milwaukee it's like who else you see any comparisons with you in title and it's gang I see a lot of them he got he's smooth know you've been doing that decide three you don't know you've been doing so yeah we didn't have a social media yeah I don't know this news sidestepped ajaan CDs trainers teaching these players all been doing that he's been doing that all right that was a shout out to go now bro bro bro Marcus smart I know you're a big fan of him how well Marcus is a throwback he could play in any era in the NBA I mean he fit in the mold I mean tough I think you need guys like him and you know y'all fit that mold so you need them guys like stack like you like Marcus - everybody loves playing with those guys like new Hosey like you can ask any all-star MVP superstar they like who your favorites gonna bat cat right there get in the trenches and and do championship type plays like diving on the floor he want a guard whoever like you need them guys to win straight pop and Steve crazy said all the time cuz I can either win the championship you need a guy like Stephen jacks you need a guy like Ron Artest yeah a guy like Tony out you got to have a guy like that understand but that's gonna be the glue guy you know the man you gonna sacrifice sometimes more than anybody else willing to sacrifice on the team to win the game they need to have a special on this like huge position that this life that's that story I don't things being told and you don't get the outside rings back to love but like you said understanding respect and love you players like you understand and respect players like us they'll understand it yeah that story definitely got to get told because we hear from you we hear from Kobe I mean I mean a lot to us you know is underway we know me to get our props some [ __ ] we did that we didn't get it but at the same time we know either play the game we know he plays know it ya know yeah like I like I said for us was Posey he was the glue that story need to be told man I would love to watch that because there's a lot of names that people need to recognize on on that what's with some of your favorite non Southie teams my favorite non Celtics team players to watch today players to watch today Westbrook for show who caught me not he just don't get no respect this dude got three straight years averaging the triple double but he's not like how you don't getting the MVP raise every do this again what a dubbed Oh nobody's ever does this is that's almost equivalent to saying it's a wilt hundred yeah I don't think we'll see that right I don't think that will ever see nobody averaged a triple-double three straight years with dirty that's what I'm saying the most disrespected superstars we have any yeah without a doubt I mean then they Hall of Famers already and they are they disrespected me I mean that's not a watch out for them though yeah thoughts on battle-ax like I love with the NBA is right now especially in LA Bronk y ad PG mm-hmm doc oh man III gotta give the I gotta get an edge so Clippers me too I mean I just think big tougher when it comes down to it they got more tough guys I'll give him that but don't win the game for you all the time but you need it you need it but the Kang's got to be the cat so tell me this job who's the glue guy that you need on the Lakers who's the glue guy is right now I think he got it he just got inserted but I think he can come into that guy Morris yeah Morris can be they don't have him now I mean they don't they don't have that glue guy now but I think Morris can answer today they got three poem in for the Clippers LeBron in the playoffs why my opinion is the best player in the game in my opinion I mean there's nobody that can go out and give you 30 and lock you up really like yeah and I just look at it like it if anybody had to imagine athletic Tim Duncan with LeBron James you seeing it right now yeah I've never seen LeBron with a player like that so that's why I'm not myself yeah I know that's gonna be scary I think the Clippers come out the West I feel like I got the best player and he's the most clutch player in the league he definitely plays Kauai is definitely clutch yeah I got the Clippers out the East I think it's a toss-up man man after our leader y'all said Milwaukee and I was sticking to it but like now I think the Celtics had come up is I'm telling Jason Tatum is different right now I had a chance to watch it firsthand he when he played against the Lakers and then he just recently and then he just played against Houston no fear he differ now I'm telling y'all he different he can match up he can he can match what Yanis is doing right now hmm what music you grew up on like what you list - I already know that we grew up not know some of the same [ __ ] but what you what you jam with to jamming growing up Westco so smooth but it started early it was like early like 842 short because I swore I was born spice you dog grew up on the Mac balls oh man you bringing about you know you know they're you know when I moved to LA was all about snoop trade park yeah I never had a chance to meet pie I saw Paco okay I saw him I was in college and I went down to freak Nick I don't know it was like a holiday it's Spring Break you're Atlanta they don't yeah you know everybody go out there and so I went out there in college and he was at Lenox Mall so I just saw him walk by and I just sell crowd of people around him hmm it was like just seeing his aura it was like man I never met him but I had a chance to like see them like I see them move like they're gonna pop eyes like they gonna pop when artists to another you pin something new you're a big fan of Prince and named your son oh yeah Prince is a legend man I mean you know God's dressing like Prince he was doing this 30 years of yes oh that's crazy gosh I'm depressed I was this wacko he was just this way top five artists all-time you know you see we got our top five artists your top five all know top five well I got two of them s on this wall of course for show Biggie and Tupac and I'm gonna throw jay-z in there oh man it's hard everybody gets stuck after those three josie pye everybody gets stuck right there alright I'm gonna go off what I used to what out with who I used to just always bump all the time oh damn this is that's the spice snoop snow snow snow for show and then that last one oh man I'm either to go some throwback I'm gonna say Eric be the rock being where I can't go wrong teach us hey I like your ice the punk he'll see that again be that big day was hard yeah rock him I'm gonna say rock him that's nice we in a nice space right now I was fortunate enough to battle a little bit with Steven Naismith our first take about cannabis and sports what do you thoughts over okay the business of cannabis and then athletes in canvas I mean I think the more and more people get the knowledge you know there's a more accepted because like us growing up you look at it as a life people always looked at cannabis as a gateway drug other things which is not gateway to snacks gateway there's no get some to eat that's all right and I think it's been widely accepted and I'm in the cannabis business you know I'll do a wholesale Western Green Mamba okay and so yes I'm in the I'm in the space and you know I feel like I said there's a place for it and not only in sports but in just life you know I mean the more and more you learn about it and learned to help I can help you you know right now we're in the middle of opioid crisis where people are like getting addicted and dying if you have alternate ways of medications such as cannabis why is there a big deal surrounding it you know we but we don't look at alcohol and by the same way that's really killing you we don't frown upon but we frown upon cannabis he's actually professional professional team you know like you said no [ __ ] Celsius or smoke with cigarettes in the locker room how many people those period you know to me like the real like the problems they don't look at but I think because cannabis has been stereotyped as a black drug for such a long time that it's really starting to people realize that it's not all right it's no no color right you know everybody partakes and like you said I think the key is the education you figure it out you know snow big deal at all quick hitters favorite road crowd to silence New York Knicks funniest picture ever all time clutch five all-time clash who I think is clutch up top five for sure Jordan for sure Kobe Larry Bird nice bird I must say Jordan burr magic not a little magic in there I mean I remember that we still played a hook shot of hitting the guard and last one almost say I'm gonna give it up the D way man he up there like that toughest matchup of your career toughest matchup you know what I didn't say different people of a different time because think about this I got to play against Vance Carter Melo Bronco be t-mac just like Akio so many different ways and I think at some point all of them have given me 40 a smile Kobe gave you 40 we bad jail arose with two mouths [Laughter] but I I consistently go back because all them guys hard to guard and like for me I'm gonna say Melo because Melo made you fill that out he's strong no but like how he made you feel him like fill his points and what I mean by that is like he gonna like you some shoulders all night no chest he's gonna like he gonna be physical more physical than all the rest of them with his for somebody to do that to you appreciate [Music] his physicality the way he did it you know the rest on one was more finesse with it for his physicality are giving it like hated that and so I'm gonna give it up the bell oh no no oh man that's a wrap we want to thank our guests oh oh we have a segment out always that Jack begs our guest for something Jack what you begging for today well since the conversation is going on you got some grass what kind of whatever whatever's your grass that has the
