Patricia King: The Gift of Discernment

hello there I want to share a little bit about the gift of discerning of spirits we know that discernment is the ability to to have a student as in judgment to know what is right what is wrong what is from this source what is from that source but there's a specific gift mentioned amongst the nine gifts of the Holy Spirit in first Corinthians 12 that that refers to a special gift a special endowment that the Spirit of God has given us called the gift of the discerning of spirits and it's found in 1st Corinthians 12 verse 10 there are nine gifts of the Holy Spirit mentioned in this portion of Scripture there's three utterance gifts which is a gift of tongues the gift of interpretation of tongues and a gift of prophecy there's three revelation gifts which is the gift of the word of knowledge the word of wisdom and the discerning of spirits so it's amongst that category of revelation gifts in other words they're given by revelation and then of course there's the three power gifts which includes faith miracles and healings and so today though I want to talk about the gift of the discerning of spirits because when this gift is operating you will be able to discern the difference for example between a spirit from the demonic side a dark spirit a spirit from God which could be his own holy spirit or an angelic present or an even human spirit because the human spirit sometimes we operate out of our human soul even or out of that which springs forth from our unredeemed nature it's not a demon it's just our humaneness or sometimes we're operating out of the Spirit of God so the gift of the discerning of spirits will will help you to discern the difference between those I remember as a young believer i I just fell in love with Jesus his his presence came and filled me he forgave me of all my sin and such a beautiful presence of his love that I could discern him when he was around because I knew that presence his presence is always love it's full of peace as accepting it it's beautiful and so I would go into a church building and I could feel that present oh Jesus is here and that was the discerning of his presence and I didn't even know that that was a gift of the Holy Spirit it was just I was familiar with the way that he had visited me so when you are before a person that says that their Christian you can sometimes tell that they're a Christian before they even say anything because you discern the Spirit of Christ on the inside of them I sometimes will look at a person that I know that they're Christians because I can discern I can sense the Spirit of Christ that is inside of their life and in the words that they speak I can see them in their eyes and so that is the ability to discern Christ within them but also that gift of the discerning of spirits can help you discern the presence of angels now when you are born again you invite Jesus to come into your heart so when you invite Jesus in it's not you know Jesus the man the person that lived in the earth 2,000 years ago the enters is his spirit that enters you jesus said that which is born of the flesh is flesh and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit so when you say Jesus come into my heart his spirit the Spirit of Jesus Christ comes and enters into you inside of the Holy Spirit the Spirit of Christ are the nine gifts of the Holy Spirit therefore when you are born again you have the gift of the discerning of spirits because it's in him you just have to activate it so you have the ability to discern and you can discern angelic presence with that ability so when angels are in Yuma sometimes I'll sense the presence of angels I might not see them with open vision I might not hear them but I can sense their presence and that is a gift of the discerning of spirits in our glory school we teach our classes how to discern the presence of angels because it's it's easy just draw close to the Holy Spirit and you inquire of him and he begins to show you you start to sense or see or or get inspiration from him concerning their presence and that's the gift of the discerning of spirits he helps you discern the angelic presence and even what they're there for unassign minh what they're doing what they look like you know you can learn how to hone that gift and if you want more insight into that please get our glory school teaching because it'll take you through all the different ways that you can follow Holy Spirit get to know him and to discern the presence of angels that gift of discernment will also show you the demonic realm and you can sense when something's not right you've probably already done that maybe without even knowing that it was a gift of the discerning of spirits because you can discern when something's demonic you know there's something not right about this I remember a man came one time into my office and he was using a lot of spiritual language like church language Christianese but I thought there's something wrong this man's not a Christian I said are you a Christian and he says oh yes I am and inside I thought no you're not you know I could tell that the Spirit of Christ wasn't in him I could tell that there was a spirit of error in him and so we talked a little bit more and sure enough I found out he wasn't a Christian he was actually a Mormon and he was trying to sell me a phone system and tried to convince me he was a Christian because he thought he could get favor with me if I knew he was a Christian but I could discern that he wasn't he said all the right words but there was something wrong that is the gift of the discerning of spirits there was a spirit of error a spirit of deception operating through him you can sometimes through this gift you can see the demonic sometimes I've seen the in shadows lurking and moving around and that's just the gift of the discerning the spirits you never have to be afraid if you discern an evil presence because God is with you and it's actually the Holy Spirit that is allowing you to have that discernment so you just need to go go to him and inquire of him on what he wants you to do with that now I realize that this is a very quick synopsis of this gift and the reason I'm bringing it forth to you is to is to just let you know that you you have it available to you and I'm going to pray right now for an awakening of that gift of discernment so if you want that awakening if you want the stirring of that gift if you want it to operate more so that you can have this discernment just posture yourself right now as I pray and get ready to receive from Holy Spirit the awakening of that gift it's already in you but it'll be stirred up and awakened so get ready to receive right now father in the name of Jesus Christ I pray right now for the gift of the discerning of spirits to enter your daughter to enter your son right now in the name of Jesus stir it up awaken it and cause the activation of the gift of the discerning of spirits in their life in Jesus name Amen hallelujah now you believe that and move forward with expectation to see that gift come alive in you now if you want more teaching again as I said you could
