chapter is all about the nomads people right or as we say if you look at the chapter name it's the pastoralist in the modern world the people who move from one place to the another place right they don't have their own homes right they are the people who just keep moving from one place to another depending on the needs right they don't have a very specific permanent residence they don't have a permanent job also so their kids are moving depending on the season depending on various different climatic condition and the other different conditions okay so this is the chapter which is all about please make sure you remember this yes very good I know that I know that that's why we are here it took us it took us some time to come up uh to come to you for this particular chapter but here we are okay so everyone in today's class these are the important things we will be looking ahead so take our movement look at the topics that we will be covering today so in this particular chapter we will be first of all we'll be introducing right we'll be understanding that what are the different types of tribes we have right what are the different types of people we have in the India like different communities right then of course you'll be understanding their traditional lifestyle and how the British rule impacted their life this is really very important then of course we'll be discussing about their uh adaptation that they had right and their livelihood and the last we'll be discussing about the tribal community of the Africa everyone so we can say that in this particular chapter we have three major topic we will be discussing about the past turtles Right the nomads people then we'll be discussing about how their life got impacted by the British rule as a third point we will be discussing about the life of the Pastoral in the Africa are we clear everyone give me a quick thumbs up very good very good epic very good yes bhumika very good very good sakshi yes hello ronak let's focus let's focus over uh over here everyone Hi Tamanna yes I will be telling you the important question in this particular chapter don't worry okay are we clear everyone give a quick thumbs up yes so the important thing about this particular chapter is that in our country we have different communities right and these people are spread throughout our countries now what we call them as of course we call them as the Pastoral right now they are the community of the people right they move from one place to another based upon the seasonal changes that will be happening and in order to take care of their cattle so specially especially these people will be moving because of the needs of their cattle so usually these people will have the cattles like they'll have the camels or the cows cows not that much or the fellows but majorly the cattles that they have and just to provide the food to the cattle they move from one place to the another I'm sure you must have seen lots of lots of people around you sometime I'm sure you must have seen them migrating also with a herds right they can have goats sheeps cameras and the other animals also yes very good so everyone this is a very very important definition for one marks please make sure you remember this right now it can be asked in a different way so just remember the definition it's the same definition for all the people right for specially the people who will be moving so it's the definition that all of us should remember then very good very good Dinesh very good sakshi good evening yes epic yes nomadic herding hello so in India we have three different types over here based upon the region they have found so we have mountain and Hills we have plateaus in the coastal area and then of course we have the desert region so we have three different areas in these three different place places we have different set of people over here everyone see this this is a political map which is in a textbook also to actually locate where the we will be able to find these tribes okay please make sure we will be discussing about this map again but as of now if you can see over here we have so many peoples right clear everyone so this is super important please make sure to look at this particular graph which is there are textbook also yes good evening everyone okay so now let's get started everyone yes now we are talking about the people who are there in the upper part of the country in Jammu and Kashmir yes yes they are okay so we are talking about the bhakarwal tribes of the UK right now of course they have the goats yak and the camels and the sheeps also and what they do they move seasonally if they're extreme winter in the North or in the Jammu and Kashmir they'll be moving to a lower part of the Himalayas right why they are moving because they have herds right and those herds need food so they will move from a place which is extremely very cold because at that time it the all the grassland will be covered by the grass that's why they move to a lower place where they can get the grass easily are we clear everyone yes are we clear off come on yes very very good so that is the reason why they move okay so they're moving seasonally now they'll be selling the kettles and of course they maintain the you know kind of a small lifestyle that they have they definitely uh they they are different types of tribes which moves from the different different regions of the different uh regions rearing means over here that of course they'll be taking care of them right taking care of basically they will be actually helping in the growth they will be having them from the very beginning taking care of them giving them food and of course making sure you know to use the products from them also then of course let's specifically talk about a very very known tribe that we have right in the Jammu and Kashmir so this is important all the names are important so we'll be focusing on that the important name that we have is the gujar bhakar waltz right in of the Jammu and Kashmir so they are the one that migrated to Jammu and Kashmir in the 19th century and they have the cattles with them right they have the cattles with them and from that Carol they'll be taking the milk and of course they'll be selling in the market they'll make the buttermilk or the ghee and they'll be selling in the market especially as the winters become extremely very harsh with the Jammu and Kashmir they will move right they will move to a region which is not that much cold so that they can have the cattles easily fed right that is a reason they move to a lower Himalayas right especially which ranges again a very important part we all should remember which is the shivalik range during the winter okay and during the summer time they will move back foreign are moving because of a same one reason because they don't have the food for their animals that's why they move so we have this community remember the name of the community which is there okay here we go then of course the other important parts that we have to remember is that the return back to the return back to their camp at the end of the September right and of course they will be moving around in the kafilas in a group in a bunch that we call it as the carfilla yes good evening everyone yes bhumika I've explained it what is the target oh I completely forgot about it thank you for reminding me a little bit but you haven't missed anything but it shall be had in the first light budget quickly go back and see they are the people who moves right from one place to the another absolutely correct man absolutely correct don't worry you're right on time we haven't done much okay everyone please make sure to hit the like button right please make to make sure to hit the like button for the video Target Target let's have 50 Target of 50. I don't know but let's have a target of 50. let's start with that yes very good okay let's start everyone right very good so the target of this class is that by the end of the session we should remember all of this there's no hurry you have ample amount of time please stay with me I want all of you to focus here and if you promise right if you promise that you will be paying attention we will finish this chapter really very soon and then we have a quiz also we have a mentee quiz right so let's quickly finish this and then we'll come okay it's a very very important chapter okay now we will see the cyclic movement of course these people will be moving uh in Winters and will go back in the Summers absolutely correct thank you for makeup okay tanishka up to you all of you have my hearts so yes have it very good very good okay so this is about it everyone this is very important very very important one marks question what we have over here the other Himalayan tribes right other Himalayan pastoral communities includes the bhutias right okay this is very important everyone these three super super important please make sure you note them they can ask you in the examination also okay please make sure sakshi they move from the uh upper ranges in the summer because see they they know that they have the grass now in the upper region especially in the summer when the snow is gone the grass is there for their kettles too Grayson that's why they move from the lower part of the Himalayas to the upper part okay sakshi I've answered your question yes very good good evening everyone I can see many of you have joining now hello Bridge hello kamna very good sakshi have answered your question okay now now let's move to the from jamos from Jammu and Kashmir to a little bit to the Himachal Pradesh right so we have the group over there which are called as the Gadis okay just remember the spelling and the name remember the name also yes yes it's it's uh she not sakshi yes okay so let's see over here everyone so what they do they spend their Winters again similarly like the Jammu and Kashmir tribe they also spend their Winters right in the shivaliks range foreign then by the September of course they'll come back right of course they are the people who actually do a little bit of farming uh everyone are we clear with this clear yes Tamanna will just see you over here see over here I'm sure you can see this map right yes we can see this map see over here so this is the gadwal region right now of course we have it in the uttarakhand yes clear very good yes yes yes clear right very good yes it is it is it is vaishnavi okay so we'll remember this everyone so they are found in the garwal region and the kumau region of India the two regions which is very close to the uttar Pradesh and to the Nepal are we clears only and you look dry forest see a lower region yes they are nomads we call them as Nomads right or the Pastoral group okay pastoral group right and they will stay at one particular place but what happens with this these Nomas is that they will be moving from one place to the another okay clear very good yes awesome now here we have the same point that we have but these are the community which are there okay this is a one marks question I told you that's why we have it over here do remember that what are the different types of communities which are there okay are you ready for a quick question everyone quick question yes very good so here we have okay Sherpas right and the killers are the name of the communities in the Himalayas is it true or false quickly everyone yes it is yes or no yes as of now we don't have the polls but the next question we'll have the polls also good evening good evening I can see uh yes yes very good everyone the correct answer is true yes these communities are there in the Himalayan region very good foreign yes I'm repeating the map part I will repeat the map Parts Tamanna first we'll discuss about all of this and then we'll repeat Shashi yes they are different they are different but in the uttarakhand right right in the uttarakhand we have different tribes all together okay epic I don't know must be a tribal women sorry uh Nomads women okay very good very good so are we clear with this everyone yes okay Charlie let's move ahead and let's discuss about the community that we have over here yes is it could be yes bhumika I don't know you tell me okay now everyone we are talking about from the northern part right we're moving up to a little bit West so we have the the hunger community that we have in the plain region from the higher Heights we're coming down to the plains now okay yes so we have this community which is there in the Maharashtra their occupation is usually of the Shepherds right they are the blanket Weavers they'll be making sure right they are basically doing uh you know they will be making the blankets all together then of course they have the Buffaloes and of course they'll be selling the milk and the different other products also during the monsoon season especially we know that you tell me what do you think about the Maharashtra do they have a good rainfall or less rainfall yes right what do you think in Maharashtra what happens yes less rainfall absolutely correct yes very good it could be yes yeah very good everyone okay okay so in Maharashtra we know that there's a less rainfall so what these people do during the you know dry region they will move and during the monsoon season right they will be there so that their kettles can easily graze in Maharashtra there's a less rainfall so what they'll do in the monsos is in monsoon season they will be there but as a dry season comes they'll just move away from to the different parts of the cities of different parts of the state and maybe to the next States also so they migrate see why they are moving everyone we have to understand this one point which is that the movement is happening so that the cattles can have the food right and these people also will have some opportunity to earn the money yes yes okay nice Northern plain means the parts that we have of North India right in the uttar Pradesh over there okay West part of course we have Rajasthan Gujarat central part of course we have madhya Pradesh and then of course when we come to South we have the Telangana Andhra Pradesh and other states okay that's from where the beginning and of course we have the eastern part of the country also yes it could be harika it could be okay now we should understand that that how the movement is happening see over here a very very important point that all of us should remember so what happens see over here we have the dry Plateau right they will move to the konkan region which is the coastal part of the country I will tell you I will tell you arid means a place where we have less rainfall semi-arid Zone a semi-arid area means which have a very less rainfall Less in a sense less as compared to the other parts okay yes very good very good are we clear with the edit means kafila means basically a group of people who are moving together okay yes the names they migrate because of the water right and of course they they don't have the food for their cattles that's why they move in the dry region the grass will not be there the trees will be which will have very less amount of grass for the animals to eat that's why they move okay I'll ask it a question thank you for helping your friends okay so now they are the people who actually do a little bit of cropping so they harvest what they harvest the bajra once they have the bajra with them what they do they take the Harvest and they move to a coastal region which is the Concan region right which is there in the western ghats so it receives a good amount of rainfall so what they do they come from their dry place they have the bajra right and they come they come to the konkan people and corn can people with their Open Hands welcome them they take the bajra they stay there for some time they actually help them also and they buy the rice from them okay from the konkan people right and they take the rice and they survive for the for that particular duration clear everyone yes see over here we have these important points please make sure to take a screenshot of all of this and I will be sharing the PDF also okay so when the field was about to make ready for the Rubik Harvest they will add them right they'll have the manure of of course they have the food for their cattles also yes they the content the concrete will be supplying the goods Rajesh they actually moved to Concan region so that they can actually live because in the dry region as the monsoon is not there right it will be pretty much dry and that animals need food so once they have their Harvest done once they know that their animals have no food to eat they'll move to a region where they have good amount of food okay I hope that you're clear with this okay and before this this is what we have over here this we have already discussed clear remember this diagram everyone okay see they are moving from here to the part okay and of course after some time they'll move back awesome awesome here everyone let's look at this particular movement yes okay sorry roshni got it roshni so over here we can see the seasonal movement happening especially during the monsoon season in India what happens that in the planes right of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh the nomadic people will be moving to the community where of course we have the monsoon season not the dry season right they will move there okay the two migration or the movement we'll see is during the monsoon and the dry season wherever there is Monsoon from the dry place will move to a monsoon place where of course they're animals and they can easily survive clear everyone so it's a very easy thing right for example uh let's suppose if given you and choice I'm sure you've heard about right distance which will keep them warm and if it's really extremely hot they will go to some place which is in Hill station and I'm sure now also a lot of people have their you know winter home and their summer home so similarly these people don't have a proper proper home but they used to migrate they used to move and then they will come back see just think about it now these people know that they have to come back they don't want to stay at that particular place they know that the situation is a very harsh they will not get jobs they have to move again but still they were okay with that they don't want to get settled yes very good very good so hello we are talking about the movement of these people happening in the dry and the monsoon season remember this everyone is extremely important during the mount Susan monsoon season they will move to the coastal parts and they will return right when it's raining over there it's been moved during the rains because the kettles prefer the dry grazing so of course they have the food for their kettles moving ahead everyone now let's talk about the communities of Nomads in the southern part of the country right clear everyone so we have golas we have the kurbas okay these communities which we have in the plains right everyone I hope that all of you are wide awake yes and I hope that all of you are paying attention I know history can be a little bit boring but let's imagine right we are also moving along with them and let's look at the lifestyle they have right yes Russia where we have this word can you tell me Tamanna it could be we have this in our cbse textbook yes very good very good I hope that all of you are paying attention right yes very good very good yes okay okay Charlie let's move ahead everyone thank you for telling me I do have my book but it's a little bit far away from here so I'll not be able to take it now yes we will be learning about Africa also Epic yes bhumika yes so after the crops which we are of the once the harvesting is done right the small small you know six will be there which is left after the harvesting of the grains we'll call it as that stubble yes uh the passengers moved to the coastal region during the announcement but they returned before rain starts and so why do they move uh go there in monsoon again so what is happening basically they're moving from their region which is dry to a monsoon region right and sometimes they know that once the monster is beginning over here maybe there the rain will stop or then the monsoon is done over there so they will have the grass over there so they move accordingly right wherever there is a food for their animals they'll move accordingly okay now everyone let's talk about these two communities which are there in the southern part of the country so we have in Karnataka and we have in Andhra Pradesh right clear and of course there is it's a plateau region more of a clear land we have over here right and there are two communities right that we have will be talking about please make sure to remember the name of the communities is extremely important they have their cattles with them and some of them will be doing a work of weaving right they will be taking a part in the weaving Rani is a type of community yes so they live they will be living near the woods near the jungle right they will be doing their work they'll be going in the market they'll be selling their goods and come back okay so this is really very important this is nothing this is really very easy for you to remember also then over here we have the nomads in the desert okay how many of you are from Rajasthan tell me how many of you are from Rajasthan sakshi will tell you the page number in a bit but tell me everyone how many from from Rajasthan I'm sure you've heard about the camel cattle Festival right it usually come in the news also yes so what happens we have the people the nomads people over there are called as banjaras I'm sure there in the um some of what in Punjab and Maharashtra also they will be selling the basically they will they will do a little bit of harvesting they'll sell their cattles also yes camel fare is there right and of course they will be selling goods and of course they will sell kettles so that they can get the grains right and they can have the food this this community over here is called as Rikers this is very important okay Rikers right and they are the one that have the cultivation they will sell the goods also right and animals also clear one of the major major group that we have over here which is the Maro group especially marrow group Maro Rikers right they are the community which lives in the desert right and they are the one that have the camels and the rare them along with the sheep and the Goat they are specifically found in the northern part of the country in uttar Pradesh in Rajasthan madhya Pradesh parts of Punjab and a little bit parts of the Maharashtra also Banjara I'm sure you must have seen uh let's suppose um how many of you have seen if you are crossing a city right if you're crossing a city you will see that you will see the small smaller Huts made up of the cotton sarees and clothes right how many of you have seen that yes how many of you have seen that yes right so those are the people who are called as banjaras they will come for example for a certain period of time right and then they will leave maybe they're making the um especially they'll make the uh dharis that we have right especially during melas if you have seen I'm not sure how many of you have seen melas right the fair that you used to have earlier but during that time that these people will be coming and they'll be selling Goods write some plastic toys maybe they'll sell some mirrors etc etc okay yes I'm yes me me right yes I'm sure in the face we have those big julas right and lots of games we have over there yes I'm from Rajasthan yes okay so we're clear with this right everyone we are clear with this okay let's take a quick look at this question over here we have name the personal group that lives around the central plateau of Maharashtra and grows bajra during the semi dry region okay very easy hint everyone right we're talking about a tribe or basically sorry we are talking about a community which is there in the Maharashtra easy peasy right quickly answer this question yes very good very good yes and the correct answer to this particular question is is option number c very good is the dhan girls okay this is very easy to remember this so they're in the Maharashtra so now let's go back and let's take a look at the map here we have the map right now everyone let's see the map work over here so we have the gonzers in the right we have it in the jamun Kashmir here we have the bhutias side region we have gandhis also right up we have the Rikers in Rajasthan Banjara is in the central part of the country right we have the dhangars in Maharashtra we have golas kurbas and kurbans right in the southern part of the country up you can easily relate right now is particular map say yes or no yes two of the things which are not clearly mentioned are right over here is the we have the maal dharis right which is there in the gujarately we have mon pass extreme and we have two communities which starts from m this is this map is very important everyone please make sure to look at this map right it's very important from the exam point of view yes okay let's move ahead everyone right and we have discussed about this so now we'll go back and we will start with this what are the different types of communities we have now what are the challenges they were facing this is very important Okay one minute I can see a question is asking that ma'am what is a plow good which a given exchange it could be anything mostly the bajras the millets that we have right okay sakshi sorry Shashi yes it's okay do take care okay so she has answered your question yes right exchange of the grains right blow Goods again it comes from a point that the tools that I use in the flooring process right yes and they will be looking for the food right so they will be getting in exchange they will give the plow waste right and of course they blow goods and they will be uh taking the millets and the other things okay what is waste land rules we'll be discussing about that here we have on this only okay everyone the first part of the chapter is done now we're moving the second part okay what were the challenges these people uh faced as there was an entry of the britishers now we know that britishers came to our country and they're like we have to organize these people they're very disorganized disorganized people right so when they come they said that okay you know what Nomads you will not be moving so what they did first Ebola what are you doing we don't know right so they try to restrict the movement of these communities it was very difficult from them right because which was definitely not acceptable to the British uh era company right and of course it's a British company clear so that happens grazing lands were transformed into the cultivator lands they were like they started the cultivation over there then of course we know that they call that any Wasteland there's no cropping right they will take that land right and it's a uncultivated land cultivation are we clear everyone yes are we clear yes awesome hello chitra welcome to the class Cleo land is a waste land and it's a wastelander they will be giving to some people and or else yes very good so that was the conditions and then after that we have the forest act this is very important everyone take a screenshot of this please make sure to take a screenshot of this so they passed a forest act also like Forest at vidyan honey foreign which is not used or which is not cultivated they took it under their control right and they said that either it could be a reserve Forest where only our people will be taking the wood you will not be able to take the wood and you will not allow to let your animal Grace and we have protected areas where we will be making sure that there's no such actions or activities are happening clear ly right clear they made sure that this was acted by the government and followed by the people clear yes I am explaining in Hindi or Ramya here and there in Hindi but mostly in English yes okay so we are clear right the reserve forest and the protected Forest that we have over here very good very good everyone hello good evening everyone has a Josh in class I hope that all of you have hit the like button for the video yes how many of you have hit the like button for the video yes very good very good very good everyone please make sure to hit the like button yes awesome let's continue everyone so what they did if you want to come right if you do if you want to take some anything from the forest the britishers say that you have to take a permission from us and if you are going without a permission we will take the fine from you interesting right how many if you want me to repeat in Hindi let's have a fair thing right majority of your uh if you want in English um anyways I'm teaching in English only yes Done Right very good very good hello Anita hello yes so if you quickly revise this right what happened the britisher came and they told Kate now you will not be moving from one place to the another we have these we have these forests in divided into two parts we have Forest reserved Forest which of course we will be only taking the goods from it and then we have protected Forest where you are not allowed to go with your animals then they said that if you're going also you have to pay fine you have to pay us money so that you can go along with your animals and your animal can race and just in case if you're not taking up permission we will charge fine from you which is definitely not good for the community people because they don't have the money so these are the things which were which came into the picture when the britisher came to our country or as we got as a British era or the color or the colony era clear then apart from that the life was not at all easy for these Community people they have to get permanently settled right they told British people told you you will not be moving now you have to you have to settle at one particular place then of course the government could not collect so they said that if you're moving here and there we will not get the tax that's why you want you have to settle there then of course they said that they have an act which is a is the in the year 1871 which is the criminal tribe act just imagine can you imagine everyone yes can you imagine so the British government in the year 1871 passed an act called as criminal tribe act if the community are moving they will be charged under this act are we clear yes are we clear everyone yes Village Forest also yes yes yes rishabh so I'm sure you know that the people will be going directly into the Forest right but these people know that in in Forest we have the woods and the other Goods so they made it really very restricted okay now here we have more about the challenges which were faced by the people first of course they have increased attacks they even take a screenshot of this first then I'll explain you yes everyone please you take a screenshot of this really sorry yeah so the British government increased the tax right then of course that every time they are their animals are grazing they have to pay the money between 1850 to 1880s the right to collect the tax what they're on the contractor so there will be a third person right a third party who will be going and collecting the money from these communities then by the 1880 the government began collecting tax directly from these people grazing track uh cattle to show the tax also yes prashab the criminal tribe Act was that that if at all the communities are moving right from one place to another if they're not paying tax they will be charged under that clear so you can take a screenshot of this also see you over here you can take a screenshot of this yes very good Shashi yes okay sorry clear everyone very very good okay let's take a look at the question here we have how did the forest act affected the lives of the pastoralists right how did it affect it if for example if you are living around saying if there is an act on you how you will feel yes pick the answer everyone given unlimited access to Forest right required a permit to entry they weren't fine even if they overstay or their movement were not regulated very good how the forest acted changes the life of the community yes of the nomads very good everyone you're absolutely correct they actually require a permit to entry into the forest which was definitely not correct for them [Applause] came to our country they have this particular law acted yes see option A Tamanna is saying that giving unlimited entry or access to the forest which was not the case right britisher came and told that you will not be entering into the forest that's my option a option C and option D are invalid awesome yes everyone so let's move to the next topic yes are we clear everyone uh I know even initially many of you I'm sure must have thinking that are limited yes you're kind of correct yes absolutely yes okay let's move to the next topic everyone over here what we have so again we're just talking about the same effect over here so of course they will not be able to uh they have very small area for the animals to graze they cannot let their animals graze for a longer time reservation of land was there they and the britishers say that if there is a you know very continuous grazing happening on a small piece of plant it will become better in land and of course it was a case with these people also if their animals are eating or grazing at a one particular place only the land will become Barren right of course it will not be able to produce that's why they look very much affected right this is very true about these people of course the cattle died during the uh you know any of the condition when there's a feminine or the drought the animals will also die in uh Tamanna Baron land beans a land which will not be able to produce goods for example uh if it has a grass right if there's a continuous grazing what will happen we know that the top layer of soil will just go away and it will not be very fertile so to become a dry land okay yes okay moving ahead we know that even though these people were suffering right we know that these people are suffering but still they try to adjust the new Norms what they did they start settling it down right they came and they started a small cattle horde they started stopping by right what they did they started the cultivation they started the farming process right they started sending uh you know they started taking the money from the money lenders and invested in the small businesses they bought some cows they settled down there they start selling the milk right and that's how they actually kind of adjusted to the new Norms which were imposed by the British government on them then of course they started in coming into the trades also okay so you have something okay you take this animal the trading started in this particular way Norms means a certain set of actions or the rules that we have right so how are these people adjusted to new rules or the regulations that is the uh context of this particular topic are they clear thank you that's very good welcome to the class I hope that you enjoyed this session okay are we clear everyone come on are we clear with this so two topics are done it's so very quick I'm super proud of you see two topics are done we are we have discussed about the different communities of Nomads that we have in our country and then we discussed how their life got affected during the British era now we are moving to the last third Topic in this chapter which is all about the Africa right right which we have in Africa how these communities were getting affected or how these communities were there in Africa also and how they were living there okay yes now we know that Africa is a very very big continent right some some parts of it has a Greenery and majority of the part has a very less amount of the rainfall there also we have different types of communities who are living right again a nomad communities they will also be moving from one place to the another yes yes Nilesh okay yes Nilesh yes yeah I am listening to you please add your doubt if you have any yes okay so here everyone which is very important see over here the communities which were there over there right were the turkas we have the Boron we have the Somali we have Maasai we have and we have any okay clear so remember the name of the communities these are the communities which were there and they were living in a semi-dry arid region they don't receive much of the rainfall and because of that only they'll be moving from one place to the other that's for their cattles again everyone we have we should have a very basic understanding see there's the they're very similar to the people that we have in our country right they are they also have their animals they also have their cattles and they were moving from one place to another in search of food water and of course for their animals right Nilesh their type of community the name of the community is that okay are we clear yes yes we have the mentee of the last yes we have that okay so these are the types of these are the names of the communities we have now they used to trade in the milk meat animal skin and wool right and they have their other occupation also they will be doing a little bit of Agriculture also clears these points are really important now everyone look over here this is super important right so we know that Maasai okay how many of you have heard about the famous famous National Park that we have Masai Mara raise your hand I'm sure you must have seen on various documentaries The Great Migration happens there we have amazing set of animals there in Masai Mara yes is there in the Africa continent right yes see over here everyone is a very old very old community of Nomads right very very old in the southern part of the Kenya and we have in Tanzania also see over here they've mentioned the ears also it's a very old community of the low mass people who used to move from one place to the another as the britisher games and as of course that interference occurs what happened they also stopped moving from one place to the another they also suffer like similarly to the people that were suffering in our country okay so what happened due to the continuous loss of the grazing right at that particular time Way Long back before the britisher also came into the picture they actually because the climatic condition we can say because it didn't adapt they also lost some of their animals that had affected them yes so she will be discussing about that we don't have it over here in this particular chapter but give us some time we'll discuss it out ramaiya will find it out here we will find over here now whether the britishers implemented any act on them or not okay now let's talk about that how the Maasai Community was there and how they were doing right so they must say the Maasai Community right they were actually stretch up to the Kenya see over here we can see the key near item and just below that we have the Tanzania so this community was spread in two countries that we as of know now that means it was a very huge Community right which spread such a long region yes everyone right very good very good so in the year 1885 this particular land was cut into the half part right and the britishers made it into the two different paths this is very important for us to remember it was a britishers who came and I said that okiro will have we will cut this okay then of course the area becomes really really small it is anyways a semi-dry arid region so the movement of the community becomes really really difficult and they face the lot of problems and they had the similar issue that we have in our country also clear everyone yes are we clear with this come on a thumbs up is needed quickly everyone right see now this part is really very easy because we have studied this very much similar that we have in our country how the communities were getting affected in our country is very much similar to the Africa okay very good very good so we know that as the britisher came there they actually encouraged the local peas and Community to expand their cultivation British britishers actually told the community people that you know you should start the cultivation stay at one particular place and start the grazing process issue pashu means grass thank you Risha for helping your friends out okay the pre-colonial times right the muscle the Masai people right what they do they do a little bit of Agriculture write a little bit of politics and a little bit of the year you know they will try to find the balance over there and they're living and when there's an entry of the British or things definitely changed yes okay let's take a look over here everyone now this is what we are talking about the national parks right the National Park so the large portion was turned into the game reserves so as the britisher came they said okay wow you have so many animals fine we will will make them as a reserve area and we will do the hunting so that is why that's how the Masai Mara National Park Way Back how the intention was something else but now of course it's there for the preservation or for the conservation of animals that's how the various parks that we have in Africa was formed so that the britishers can actually have the hunting basically it become a hunting ground for them so definitely the community people were not allowed to go there they were not allowed to take their animals for the grazing and as they were suffering their herds and the cattle suffered many of the cattles die because they were not getting the proper food clear yes everyone are we clear clear yes moderator can you take care of the chat come on everyone let's stay focused right yes tell me that you're here in the class very good very good everyone a quick thumbs up very good come on everyone very good bhumika all of you who are here in class have to give me a thumbs up yes sakshi tanishka yes Ramya pradeep sakshi very good very good there are two sakshis here in class game reserve means a place where they'll be doing hunting yes Russia awesome yes Shankar very good gopal welcome to the class sorry I think you're Rashi yes pranavi that's very good bhumika yes Nilesh yes are the [Music] okay now let's continue everyone over here right now they also face the similar challenges that were faced by the Indian people right so they were losing their grazing ground and of course their resource of water there was a pressure on a small area of a land so they were living in a small area and they were losing out the resources also right they actually land uh led to the losing of the grasslands right eventually when the animals are there and when the people are staying on a one particular piece of land for a longer time the land will become Barren right of course I'll not have the grasses over there so that was there so over feeding also have declined the health of the cattles apart from that the health of the land also clear the animals were not getting food and it was getting over and over used up again then of course we have that what were the things that were done by the britishers over there the britishers strictly they clearly clearly told them that grazing is completely banned right and they have to take a very special permit to move in and out similarly to our country then of course they frequently harass the people and they will punish them unwantedly and put them and impressionize them to give the taxes trading activities which were happening earlier right become completely completely banned in these particular region clear everyone yes very good let's take a look at the question I know here we have a very interesting question after the partition of Africa continent the Maasai was pushed into a small area Dash and dash two names right is a very easy land was a rare really really big land right but after the partition it becomes into the two land what are the two different lands very good very good I can see the answers and the correct answer over here is the South Kenya and the north Tanzania very easy yes option buddy is absolutely correct okay moving ahead everyone they were drought in the Africa and because of that these people suffered right so during the coral period during the British shows time they have to given a fixed area and they will be forbidden to move small areas here you will not be moving cut-offs were there right and they were forced to live in a broad prone area and their cattles will die eventually of the starvation or of the diseases yes Nilesh you tell me there are great holder of what so of course they have the Sheeps at that time they have the Yaks okay draw a curse due to the less rainfall yes scarcity of the ray okay moving ahead everyone let's quickly take a look this is not so important from the example interview but we have this the community so the community have two types of people we have the Warriors who will fight who'll just go and take the animals go and take the land right and then we have the elders who were the leaders so these two are there and of course as of course as a community were there they will be leading and of course they'll be going out so as the britisher came they're like okay no you know what we will be taking a charge of your community you don't have to do anything and that's how the authorities were taken from the chief right from the older people and I was given to the uh the britishers and that actually affected these individuals right and of course this whole Community because of these activity only a lot of things change in the community so they change their annual movement they reduce their cattle number they were pressurized right press for right to enter a new area they have political pressure from the government they didn't get any support and eventually they have demanded the rights of management of the forest and the Water Resource so the britishers took all the control from them so with this we can say that we have an understanding what had happened right to the people in Africa also especially the Maasai community and now we know that in Africa also we have people we had a community which we used to be a Nomads okay with this everyone we are done and now I think it's time for us to look at the mentee here we have a very quick summary of the whole chapter please you can take a
