Esther chapter 5 in your Bible only 14 verses long but what a powerful passage of Scripture it is so Esther chapter number 5 and look at verse 1 well the Bible says now it came to pass on the third day remember last week the third day was the third day of fasting the third day was a third day of praying when Esther had said to Mordecai Esther had even said to her own maidens had said hey listen we need to fast and pray and trust God because I'm gonna do something that people aren't not to do and that is I'm gonna go into the king unannounced this was very very dangerous and yet a time was of the essence the in Egypt had already been signed that was assuring the destruction of God's people and by the end of the year all of God's people would be wiped out and so what did Astra do Esther obeyed the advice of Mordecai and said well you know what if I perish I perish but in three days I'm going in to the king and so the Bible says in Esther chapter five and verse one that on the third day asked her put on her royal apparel and stood in the inner court of the king's house over against the king's house and the King sat upon his royal throne in the royal house over against over against means opposite to over against the gate of the house so what does Esther do she just goes in and stands there she's waiting to be noticed she's in a place that she should not be she's in a place that if Dirk sees wanted to a house severus is what he's called in the book of Esther if he wanted to he can simply give up a flick of his wrist or a word from his tongue and she would be executed but watch what happens in verse two and it was so when the King saw Esther the Queen standing in the court that she obtained favor in his sight and the King held out to Esther the golden scepter that was in his hand so Esther drew near and touched the top of the scepter that means she recognized his authority look at verse three said the king unto her what wilt thou Queen Esther and what is thy request it shall be given it shall be even given thee to the half of the kingdom well you talk about things working out a better than you thought they would work out remember Esther fully anticipates that she could die today can you imagine as you're getting dressed that morning can you imagine it as you're getting yourself ready and making the walk up to the king's court can you imagine as you stand there fearfully waiting for the King to recognize you can you imagine that that you you might die at any moment she's breaking the law this is a law I mean this is do or die literally and then to have the King recognize her I think to smile because he has favored upon her and to asks her to come he extends the golden scepter a scepter in the Bible was that the rod some time joke you'll see it in the Bible the rod like a rod of iron that's a scepter the rod it was a symbol of a sovereign authority do you know that Jesus is called God's scepter remember numbers chapter 24 and verse 17 a famous prophecy about the Lord that he is a scepter shall come that's the Lord Jesus he is he is all of God's power for creation all of God's power and redemption is wrapped up in the scepter the Lord Jesus Christ and so he extended the scepter and Esther came and touched to the sector saying I submit I recognize the authority of the king what are we going to find in in Esther chapter five we're gonna find two different characters really that three characters but really two that do the lion's share of the activity number one we're gonna see Esther this is Esther's moment Esther has been hitherto a bit reluctant but this is her moment she's obeying the Lord she's doing what God wants her to do she's she's walking humbly with our God and so we're gonna look at how Esther is hung in this passage and then we're gonna see another character in this passage and we know him already but his name is Haman we know all about Haman we know that Haman is a wicked man we know that Haman is an unjust man we know that Haman has already been the one that's driven the edict to destroy all of God's people for one reason and the one reason is that Mordecai did not bow and Haman's gonna take out his frustration on the entire race of God's people so we see Esther and we see Haman and then at the end of the message we're gonna say God Esther Haman you say pastor Kelly I thought God wasn't found in the book of Esther he's not but he's all throughout he's not mentioned but he's all throughout the book of Esther so we'll see Esther will see Haman and then we'll see the Lord let me make a three introductory statements that I think we have to understand if we're gonna understand how humility battles pride okay introductory statement number one is that the fear of the Lord is a proper recognition of God so where does humility come from humility in the Bible is a result of seeing God okay tonight in our Bible study in the book of Job we're gonna see that job saw God job saw God and when job saw God he abhorred himself the Bible says in other words when you see God the way you're supposed to see God you'll see you the way you're supposed to see you does that make sense when you see God the way you're supposed to see God then you'll see you the way you're supposed to see you most of us think more highly of ourselves than we ought to sing the Apostle Paul warned against that in Romans chapter 12 and verse 3 but when you see God for who he is then you're gonna see yourself for who you are of course that famous passage and Isaiah chapter 6 helps us to understand that when the Bible says that Isaiah saw the Lord High and lifted up and when Isaiah the Lord then he saw himself and Isaiah said woe is me and so understand that the fear of God is a proper recognition of God in other words when you see God for who he is you're gonna respect him you're gonna be in awe of him you get a tremble in his presence it's the fear of God and then the fear of God is always going to produce in a person humility and so introductory statement number two is that humility is a proper recognition of ourselves so if the fear of God is the proper recognition of God then humility is a proper recognition of ourselves now it's important that we understand this why we're gonna enter a passage a passage now where Esther is displaying humility now why why is Esther acting humbly because she fears God she understands the who God is and what God's plan is and Mordecai has explained to her that God is going to save his people with or without you asked her hey you God doesn't need you but he wants to use you as to understand that and so Esther has a healthy fear of God which has produced in her a humility a proper recognition of herself but not only do I see that the fear of the Lord is a proper recognition of God and that humility is a proper recognition of ourselves but consider this statement wisdom wisdom is the perspective that we get by the recognition of both of those two a wisdom is the perspective that we get when we recognize the previous two in other words when we walk in the fear of God okay when we have the what we have the humility that's a result of walking in the fear of God then God's going to give us a perspective that we would not and could not have otherwise had your this world needs wisdom know what our church needs wisdom you know what I need wisdom I need wisdom and God wants to afford me wisdom that's why he says in James chapter 1 and verse 5 if any of you lack wisdom that means because we do lack wisdom if any of you lack wisdom let him ask of God that giveth to all men liberally and upbraideth not it should be giving them but let him ask in faith nothing wavering and so what is wisdom wisdom is seeing things from God's perspective but if you're gonna see things from God's perspective you better see God starts was seeing God that's why trials are featured in James chapter 1 because many times it's the trial that causes me to see God in a way that I would not have seen him it's the trial that causes me to look to God when other times I might not have looked to God and so when I fear God then I see how small I am and how big he is and the fear of God and the humility that it brings is going to produce wisdom in my life to make the decisions that God wants me to make and to understand those statements because we're gonna look at a passage where humility and pride are standing in juxtaposition to each other one's gonna win one's gonna win how does God bless humble Esther how does God unravel the plans of proud Haman all right number one this morning Esther humbly followed God Esther humbly followed God you know that's God's desire for you is that you would humbly follow God now to humbly follow God you have to recognize your goddess to humbly follow God you've got to recognize this person to humbly follow God you got to see yourself for who you are you're not all that and a bag of chips know you're somebody whom God wants to use you're somebody whom God created you're somebody who got redeemed but without God you are nothing and so Esther humbly followed God I want it I want you to I want to show you three ways in which a stir did that and and it's interesting because the three ways by which Astra follows God indicate that she fears God that she has a humility as a result of the fear of God and that she has wisdom which is produced by a fear of God and a humility that comes from that fear of God okay so statement number what about Esther she demonstrated the fear of the Lord in her preparation Esther demonstrated the fear of God in her preparation I mean she feared God she understood a God you put me on planet Earth for such a time as this this is my moment if I perish I perish but I understand that my life is a tool that God wants to use I fear God I know that God has a plan that transcends even my purpose on earth and I need to be part of God's plan because he's not gonna be a part of my plan and so how does Esther demonstrate the fear of God in her preparation I think in three ways first of all she has a desire to honor God Esther has a genuine desire to honor God well what does Mordecai said Mordecai said hey Esther God's gonna save his people Esther God has a plan Esther God has made an unconditional promise to Abraham he reiterated that promise through David and second Samuel Chapter seven I mean God has a plan and God's gonna get this thing done and God wants to use you you know it extra dose she resigns - that says okay then I want to honor God now what did Astra know she knew that she needed to do something but she did not know how it would turn out she did not know if she would live or die she didn't know that that maybe it was her maybe it was her influence on Xerxes that would change the course of history or maybe it was her martyrdom that would change history and let's face it down through to church history we have boasts we have great stories of redemption and great stories of deliverance like like Moses or like David and Goliath and we love to make much of those stories in the Bible but let's face it there are other stories in the Bible where God used martyrdom a John the Baptist who who died as a young man probably 32 years of age and yet God used that on the a great stories like Latimer and Ridley and other great martyrs down through the years I'm just saying that God gets his job done what is Esther doing she's honoring God we see the fear of God in a preparation never won in her desire to honor God but not only her desire to honor God her dependency her do you see it right there in front of you her dependency upon God and others so she depends upon God and others and I say God and others you know why because many times it is a group effort and we look at well Esther you know Esther went in all by herself and Esther made that decision all by herself and Esther changed the course of history all by herself but that's not true that's not true first of all God is the hero of the Bible God got the job done okay God uses people but God didn't just use Esther here you might say that God used Mordecai because it was Mordecai that said Esther this is what you need to do and as to humbly follow the advice of Mordecai but not only Mordecai remember what Esther said actually said Mordecai gather all the people and Shushan all of them get them all together and here's what I want you to do fast and the implication of fasting is and pray in other words we need God we need for God to do what we cannot do that's what fasting and praying is that's why we struggle fasting and praying because we always think we have an answer we always think our scheme will work we always think that we could resource our sin our way out and what did Astra know Astra knew that she was facing a situation in her life God if you don't do it it's not gonna get done and so what is it a desire to honor God what is it it's a dependency upon God and others what is it number three it's a dedication of herself entirely it's a dedication of herself entirely to the cause hey I'm all-in I'm all-in I want to honor God I'm depending upon God so I'm all-in there's no halfway by the way there was no halfway here it was either go in or don't go in there was no halfway there was no scheme there's no manipulation there was only one answer and this was this is what it was and if I die I die but I'm going you know what that is listen my friends that is the fear of the Lord so fear the Lord the fear of the Lord I know that there's a God I know that gut my God has a plan and I know that God is big and I know that I need him and I know if the job gets done he's gonna have to do it so I'm gonna give myself lock stock and barrel to God he that findeth his life shall lose it he that loses this life for my sake shall find it I'm gonna lose my life for him it's a fear - fear of God but not only do I see that she demonstrated the fear of the Lord in her preparation I see secondly in our text that she demonstrates humility in her approach she demonstrated humility in her approach now wait a minute she's fearing God but what does the fear of God produced in our life humility humility the fear of God is gonna produce humility boy you see that Nestor's life you see how Esther approached the King how she approached the situation it's not about me it's not about my strength hey it's not about my beauty and boy Esther was beautiful the Bible says she probably the most beautiful woman and the entire land but she's not trying to manipulate with her with her god-given beauty or with her position no she's just trusting God she's humble about it she hasn't reasons not to be humble but she's humble and we see the humility and the way that she approaches the situation I think a couple ways I think there's a couple statements I'll give that to me demonstrate his humility I think first of all she did what she could without trying to control what she could now what you think about that statement she did what she could without trying to control what she couldn't no humility says humanity says I can't I will pride says pride says I can pride says I'm smart pride says I'm pride says you know I'm strong your humility says she money says I can't human it says I don't deserve humility and that was astir she she did what she could and she didn't try to do what she couldn't she wasn't trying to manipulate she wasn't trying to scheme she wasn't trying to end run she just knew one thing humbly and simply I'm gonna go present myself to the grace of the king god I've prayed about it God you're greater than that King God you know his motives and his intentions the king's heart is in the hand of the Lord as the rivers of water he turneth it withers for every will god I know that you can work in his heart I'm just gonna come humbly approaching him she did what she could without trying to control what she couldn't and then secondly in her demonstration of humility secondly she recognized that God typically works through our appointed authorities not around them well it's a tough one that's a tough one for all of us in these dark days that's a tough one God typically works through our duly appointed authorities and not around them Americans we don't like that now we want to pick it we want a a protest we want to and listen I'm not saying that doesn't come a time for that but I'm just saying God's normative way of bringing about change God's normative way of blessing a people group is by working through their duly appointed Authority and not around it and that's what aster trusted here aster went to the king she didn't go in at night like a ninja and kill the King and say hey the last thing that King told me was save the Jews no she's not trying to manipulate the thing she's trying to do it God's Way God's blessing her humble approach we see the fear of God in her preparation we see humility in her approach but watch this number three she demonstrated wisdom in her plan see how they go together the fear of the Lord and then humility and then wisdom the fear of God produces humility a humble person living in thee and the knowledge of the fear of God is going to be a wise person it's gonna make choices that God would make is gonna be afforded the wisdom that God has the perspective that only God can give and that's what umm Astra no sir Astra does some really really wise things in Esther of chapter number 5 I think first of all in demonstrating wisdom she demonstrated wisdom and her plan I think first of all she demonstrated wisdom we see it in the way that she understood Xerxes but what a wise woman here's a woman she understands Xerxes she understands how he thinks she understands what makes him tick she understands what his track record has been and what you're gonna find in Esther chapter 5 is that Esther is making decisions with a with a a wise understanding of who Xerxes is who is services I think first of all Dirk sees is somebody that that makes decisions heavily based upon what his counselor set have you found that out already in the book of Esther what about Esther chapter 1 Vashti I have said no and George like oh whoa whoa what do i do what do i do my wife said no to me what do i do what do i do I know some of you husband are saying I know what to do cuz she says no to me all the time okay but what do I do say causes causes a counselors in and the counselors say well here's what you need to do you need to depose her being Queen you need to have a beauty contest and member the whole thing what deserts him okay okay he's somebody who relies heavily upon what counselors say remember last chapter one more up Haman said hey King there's a people group out there they follow a law that they claim is higher than your law they're not going to obey you and their insurrection is that hard are there only gonna be trouble we ought to kill them remember surgery like oh oh well okay sign the paper let's kill him so who is searching Xerxes is somebody that relies heavily upon what counselors tell him to do what you know Astra knows that that's why she's gonna bring Haman into the banquet with them that's why Esther is going to make sure that she keeps her enemy real close to her because she knows the Xerxes that Xerxes agrees to her that he's going to walk out of that room and confer with his vice-president Haman at Haman's gonna manipulate it and Haman is gonna change it and Haman's know she understands all about how Xerxes works so I'm gonna eliminate that whole temptation I'm gonna bring Haman right into the mix what does Astra know about Xerxes she knows that he relies heavily upon what councillors say she knows this she knows that Xerxes expects respect remember the whole - tie situation but he was shamed in front of all the bigwigs that had come from all over the world his own wife had said no but there's one thing Xerxes wants Dirk sees wants respect don't you find in our passage that's what Esther does she gives him respect I mean overboard look at verse four have our text aster said she answered what do you want Esther said King Xerxes in verse three and Esther said if it seemed good under the king let the king and Haman see that she understands the king let the king and Haman come this day on to the banquet that I've prepared for him that interesting Esther she didn't know she's gonna live or die but she had that banquet ready she she knows that she knows that her her husband loves banquets I mean he he threw a banquet in Chapter one that lasted a hundred and eighty days you got a really like banquets and then when that bait boat was over he did another banquet for seven days he must really like banquets and so what does he do she has a banquet all prepared what do you want honey okay let me tell you it I want I want you to come to my banquet she's a wise woman and I want you to bring Haman to my banquet and watch what a jerk she does and verse 5 then the king said ecause Haman to make haste ok sent the messenger tell Haman drop what he's doing hurry up that he may do his ass said so the king and Haman came to the banquet the asteroid prepared so now hey Esther what do you want um here's what I want come to a banquet I'll tell you what I want why do you ladies do that but just tell us okay now now look at verse six and the King said unto ask Esther at the banquet of wine what is thy present put petition so now it's the second time he's been waiting all day keep him waiting all day finally goes to the banquet say they eat they drink a little bit they look some rest okay okay Esther listen it's killing me what do you want and watch what she says verse 6 what is thy petition it shall be granted they what does that request even to the half of the kingdom I'll perform it look at verse 7 then answered Astrid said my petition and my request is and I see the servants over here drum roll please here it is here it is now Haman leads forward Xerxes leads forward you know what she basically says that's first here's my dears my request my request is come back tomorrow it's like are you kidding me no I'm not gonna come back but that's what she says look at what she says in verse 8 if I have found favor in thy sight in the side of the King if it please the King to grant my petition and to perform my request let the king and Haman come to the banquet I shall prepare for them I will do tomorrow as the king of said are you talking about kicking the can she's kicking the can she's got a big old bruise on her foot from kicking that can what do you want asked her come to my banquet so he comes to the bank what do you want asked her I'll come back to my banquet tomorrow wait the suspense she's creating suspense she's creating anticipation watch this she's she's reeling Haman in she's wise wisdom she sees things that other people can't see she understands things about Xerxes look at verse 8 again with about if it please the king in other words she says King I understand that it's your decision to perform my request I understand that you're the one that that makes the decision look at this let the king and Haman to perform my request you're the one that can do it in other words a king I understand it's your decision and you have the ability to make it happen that's what I understand what you're doing respecting respect she understands Xerxes but watch this number two not only does she understand circuses she understands Haman she understands Haman you know what asked her knows about Haman asked her knows that Haman is full of himself you know who doesn't know Haman's full of himself Haman because people that are fooled themselves don't know that there fold themselves they're so full themselves there's not room for knowledge that they're full of themselves but Esther knows that Haman is full of himself and Astra knows that Haman hates the Jews and Astra knows what Haman wants to do an Astra knows now Haman doesn't know the Esther's a Jew but Astra knows that Haman hates Jews so what does she what what does she wise about she's wise about her understanding of Xerxes she's wise about her understanding of Haman and she knows she knows that Haman is a manipulator and she knows that if Haman is not in the room and the King goes to Haman later and says you know I was talking to Esther and Esther wants to Esther wants to she wants to to save the Jews and and Haim is gonna be all wait a minute wait a minute he's gonna fast-talk astra knows that Esther wants to do asked her wants to reveal the truth about her identity in front of Haman because when manipulators are called to the truth in the moment it's like so astra knows that she's not gonna give Haman any wiggle room but she's wise she understands Xerxes she understands Haman she has a sense of timing but that's rude with the passage it's all about timing so what does that do three days I'm going in next day I'm gonna tell you later on today a next day what is it there's a sense of immediacy she's trying to get the job done but why because the the edict is already out there the Jews are gonna get killed time is of the essence we're gonna get this message to the entire world but not only that she understands it but there needs to be patience too I've got to allow this to unfold I've got to put that Chum in the pot let it sit for a while well I gotta let happen see that she she has a sense of timing she's wise so Esther humbly followed God watched this number to just quickly quick quickly Esther humbly followed God humility battles pride who's proud well hey - so let me make statement number two Haman proudly served himself so as a as a mirror image on the opposite side the exactly the antithesis of all the answer is an extra Debra 5 is Haman Esther's humble she fears God she's humble she's wise but who is Haman Haman doesn't fear God he's proud he's foolish he's the exact opposite of Esther so what happens when humility battles pride well look at how proud Haman is I see us pride in a couple different ways but look at verse a 9 so Esther calls Haman and the king to the feast I'm gonna tell you tomorrow what I want so now Haman goes home verse 9 to watch Haman watch him verse 9 then went Haman forth that day joyful with a glad heart can you see him skipping down the road can you see the big cheesy smile on his face me Haim his love in life man I got invited to this exclusive feast it was King it was the Queen and it was me I mean come on nobody else was there it was the King the Queen and me I mean I just he is just as happy as can be he skips out of the court he skips past the Kings gate all the people are bowing all the people are booing and eyeing and how great is a min and blah blah blah he notices one guy just standing there resolutely note smile on his face firm set jaw just staring at him who's that Mordecai see it look at verse 10 verse 8 verse 9 again but when Haman saw Mordecai in the Kings gate that he stood not up nor moved for him he was full of indignation against Mordecai and that's something in one verse in one verse he goes from man is that he's emotional rollercoaster look at verse 11 and Haman told them of the glory of his so verse 10 mother so Haman refrained himself he didn't do anything right then he came home he sent and he called for his friends and 0sh his wife he's got to tell everyone how great he is and if this story were written today he gets home he logs on to Facebook he puts the pictures the picture of me there's the king there's the queen there's me there's the feast okay see me there cuz like like like like like like right share this I mean he's just like into himself calls his wife who calls his friends over to tell him good hey I want all of my friends go where I tell you hey listen I'm glad y'all came over now I could talk about me right that's what he does look at verse 12 verse 11 and Haman told them of the glory of his riches and look at how much stuff I have the multitude of his children look at my big family and all the things when the King had promoted him look at my big position and how he advanced him above the princess and service of the king there's nobody like me boy she's bragging about himself verse 12 Haman said moreover yay after the Queen did let no man come in with a king banquet that she had prepared but myself and tomorrow I'm invited on to her also with a king hey I'm great I've got all kinds of stuff I got a big family I'm the highest guy in the land I get exclusive invites and by the way I'm going back tomorrow the guy is just full of himself but look at verse 13 yet all this availeth me nothing but none of it matters none of it matters and here's why here's why none of this stuff I'm not happy about any of it here's why none of this availa to me so long as I see Mordecai the Jew sitting at the Kings gate he robs me of all my joy that guy won't bow how am I supposed to enjoy all my riches and all my stuff and all my kids and all my position and all my power and that guy won't bow to me this guy's got some issues look at verse 14 then said 0sh his wife and all his friends now I don't know who 0sh is but might say what this is a cold blooded woman right here let a gallows be made of 50 cubits high hey not just not just kill the guy but do it ceremoniously okay build build a gallows that 75 feet high 50 cubits that's seven and a half stories that's a big old gallows I want you to define is they do it in one day so they got a whole work crew that comes out working overtime to get this thing done look at verse a verse up the end of verse 14 let the gallows be made of fifty cubits high and tomorrow speak thou unto the King that Mordecai may be hang thereon so I've got a good idea tomorrow at the banquet make a request to the King maybe that's something because that's what tomorrow's banquets all about tomorrow's banquet is all about a request being made to the king but it's a totally different request isn't it and so request that Mordecai be hanged then go down in merrily then you'll be happy again then you'll be happy again then go down in merrily with the King under the banquet and the thing please Haman and he calls the gallows to be made Klee cuz we're out of time real quickly Haman proudly served himself what did Haman's pride do to him okay I think first of all Haman's pride distorted his thinking no pride is pride is a heart issue pride is a heart issue you know pride pride is the grandfather of all sin pride it's the foundational sin remember Satan pride was found in him Isaiah 14 verses 12 to 14 pride pride pride is at the root of all of our sin and pride is weighed down Nestle deeply in the confines of our heart you know your heart is your heart is your mind your will your intention your decisions your mind your will your volition and your emotions the seat of affection so your heart your heart is your mind your will and your emotions so what we're gonna find is that Haman had pride in his heart and what do you see it manifests itself you see it manifest is up in his mind his thinking you see it manifests itself in his will and you see it manifested in his emotions okay the pride so first of all it distorted his thinking pride assumes that everything is about you pride assumes that everything is about that's what hey hey man just erroneously assumed hey it's all about me this banquet was about me all the dispositions about me the invitation was about me Esther invited me because I'm great hey he hadn't he had the inability to see the situation clearly cuz she was full of himself but when you are fully yourself you can't see things clearly distorted thinking but not only distorted thinking how about this the pride distorted his feelings pride distorted his feelings but he's so happy and misses grain everyone loves me and everyone worships me and I'm so favored and I have so much but Mordecai no his pride distorted his feelings pride obsesses about what everyone else thinks about me that's what pride is oh well what do they think what do they think about me what uh but if you're constantly worried about what other people's opinion is of you really that's an indication of pride and so who is Haman Haman he has this heart level issue it's distorting his thinking it's distorting his feeling but not only that it's distorting number three it says it's distorting his intentions it's distorting the very decisions he's making because what does the Bible say the Bible says but he's angry but it refrains himself but I want to kill him he goes home he tells his family what a great day he has but I can't have a great day because I'm Mordecai I'm just so ticked what Sarah say just kill him and that's a narrative that's a narrative that Haman wants to hear a lot of times we want to surround ourselves with people that tell us the things that we want to hear so she tells him exactly what he wants to hear well listen wouldn't be wrong it's not wrong for you just to kill him once just kill him that's what he wants to do anyway because anger is always at the heart of murder isn't it no Jesus said he's already angry he already intends to do him harm he's going to kill him along with all the Jews within twelve short months Zera says why wait just kill him good idea good idea you know pride does it distorts your thinking and distort your it distorts your feeling it distorts your intention here it is ready pride hates opposition and will do anything to get rid of it pride pride hates opposition it will do anything no I'm gonna surround myself with people that tell me what I want I don't want people in my life they're gonna make me feel bad I want to feel good I'm ruled by what people think about me Hey when humility battles pride but there's one last character in the story not mentioned but boy is he there loudly and clearly and who is that it's God and so while we see that Esther humbly follow the Lord and we see that Haman proudly serves himself we see that God sovereignly uses them both God sovereignly uses them both see there's kind of a miss thinking that exists in Christianity that is well you know get right with God so God will use you now I understand what people mean you might mean by that and certainly that's true I want God to use my life for good for his blessing I want to participate in all of that but can I just say this God's gonna use your life any way God uses every life he's gonna use every life for his glory now you get to choose if you want to be on the winning team now why would you want to be the after picture in the cigarette commercial now it is the after picture in a cigarette commercial is that are they using that image for good sure they're using that image for good but I don't want to be that picture is God gonna use your life for good sure he's gonna use your life for his glory but I don't want to be the after picture and God is using Esther in all of her humility she's doing it God's Way and God's gonna use Haman in all of his pride to confound him here's what Haman does in astral chapter 5 and I'll close with this Haman build some gallows and you know who Haman builds those gallows for don't you himself go ahead snub your nose at God go ahead and tell him you can do it your way go ahead and tell him you don't need him you're big enough and you're strong enough I don't need Church I don't need the Bible I don't need council I don't need you go ahead and tell that to him you build all the gallows you want to build but you're not building them for Mordecai you're building them for yourself when humility battles pride let me tell you something humility always wins
