now you were married in what year i don't remember 67 years ago okay how old were you when you were married just barely 20. so you were 20 and there's about close to that age okay so you had marriage 20 and then you had your first meeting big meeting let's let's talk about when did you begin preaching where you remember god moving with a in a mighty way was it in a church no it was in athens greece now i've been holy meetings in the united states tent meetings and auditorium meetings and citywide meetings and church meetings and so i was very busy conducting meetings in the united states and one day i get a letter from a man in athens greece who is the bishop for the church of god he says i've heard about you sir and your ministry will you please consider to come to athens greece for a meeting now i never knew where greece was that it existed i prayed and the holy spirit said to me now i'm just young i'm in my early 20s so now you already had been holding meetings in the u.s by the time you were 20 years old oh yes okay yeah churches 10 meetings all that yeah okay now take us to to i wrote him back after i prayed i said that the holy spirit and the lord has instructed me i'm to come i accept your invitation and then you went there then i went to greece and how many people showed up oh i can tell you it day by day line by line because it was an incredible miracle was it a big auditorium first i'm in pennsylvania and i'm conducting this meeting under the tent i went to the travel agency theresa and i and i wanted to find out what it would cost to get a ticket to go to athens greece i mean i don't know anything about anything about money or that what you have to do to put a meeting on so they tell me it was going to cost 900 and 65 cents to go to athens then to go to israel come back home i told theresa where are we going to get 900. i'm in my early 20s where are you going to get 900. i go to the tent meeting little tent i'm conducting this meeting 300 people and places packed people were outside the edge of the tent i went to the meeting and there was a lady there that was bent over hunchback and when i stepped on the platform i saw a light over her and told her to get up and she got up and she began to run she got instantly healed she was a little farmer the next day she's back in the crusade i walk in i sit up on the platform and she walks right up to the platform and she hands me an envelope she says prophet of god this is for you i was the lady that god healed last night before you came i sold my farm i had the money in the bank and i went out and got you a love offering i put the little envelope in my bible and sat down because i was embarrassed you know 300 people's nothing but to me then 300 people was like 3 000. she turns around she walks back to her seat she sees that i just put it in my bible she comes back upstairs up the stairs up on the platform of the tent she puts her bony finger in my face i can still see it doing this thing she says prophet of god you better look at that envelope geez so when a woman talks to you like that what do you do you do it you bow yes ma'am so i opened it up and then inside was a check for 900 and eighty dollars oh my goodness it's 65 cents what you needed for greece so you went to greece now yeah i didn't think i'd bring all this out of him but i'm glad i am so so you you you went to greece that dear lady who was here paid your way and what happened there so the man who invited me meets me at the airport he's old he's bony he looks like he's been through war persecution and he was and we get on the bus didn't own a car so we had to take the bus to where i was going to be staying that night and i i was just a little boy you know i'm so excited this is my first crusade you know what am i doing in that disgrace you're not far away that is yeah it's the wrong way so i asked him i said can you show me the hand bill that you printed for the meeting he said brother cereal said that's just a little problem i said what's the problem he said we're not allowed to print and pass our gospel literature in grace it's against the law the greeks feel like they had the gospel first in early days and that they had early christianity first and they have all of their orthodox churches and so forth and so eventually evangelism you have in your anathema you cannot they put you in jail not only put you in jail they'll take you off to the island and put you in jail and beat you so i thought no anvils i said that's already yeah cause i wasn't worried about that if god did something the word would spread my mouth so i said uh where were you gonna hold the meeting let's see can you think of this little boy we're on the bus and he says there's just something about that too now i got suspicious i said what are you talking about he said we can't rent buildings it's against the law you cannot hold a crusade you cannot hold open meetings you can get a little store or something and christians can gather there but that's it i thought no hand bills no auditory i said i thought maybe they had a church didn't have a church senator god which was one of my key backers for the meeting and the church of god nobody had a church that was more than just a little handful of 30 40 people and you know the history of greece so i'm you know you can attest whether i'm speaking with the facts so it's a fact because i was greek auto orthodox myself oh is that right well if my room i'm not going to talk about no sheets not a pillow no bathroom just a little sink and a mattress i thought you know these people have really suffered the next day i get out of that dingy little place and i go walking down to the circle in the heart of athens they they kinda gone a square and i find a hotel and book myself into the hotel and then i start calling uh the gentleman and find out how we gonna have this meeting and i i looked at him you know just a young kid i looked at him and i said sir if you can't print hand bills if you can't rent i said will you please tell me why did you invite me and let me come all the way from america here and he looked at me tears came in his eyes i could see him to this day he said son when i wrote you you wrote me back you told me god and the holy spirit was leading you to come and take my invitation he said do you think i was going to stop god smart laid me right out brother i may not i felt so humble you know and i told him i said it's all right don't worry about it i locked the door in my hotel room it was seven eight nine ten days of prayer and fasting [Music] i didn't come out one day about i'm thinking maybe seventh day or something like that knock comes down my door i said who is it and there's a female voice on the other end and she says i'm mrs tarakis how do i know tarakis tarakis she says my husband is the vice president of the bank of athenia and i've come here to talk to you that lord i opened the door i mean i didn't waste one second i pulled her right in i said what can i do for you she said it's not what you can do for me it's what i can do for you then she told me the story how two weeks before i arrived in athens she was walking down the street she heard some music she went down went up i should meet say the stairs to where that little room where music was coming from and it was a handful of christians clapping and singing and praising the lord and she got saved in that meeting and now she heard about our dilemma and she says the spirit of god spoke to her and said you go help this man so now she's sitting in my hotel room and she's saying i'm going to go to my husband and i'm going to tell him he is to get to the president and you are to get your license to conduct the meeting and print the handles and she does and i see her husband and i see the president and he's sick laying in bed the president of greece greece that's right she he's and he's sick and he's and she he says do you really heal i mean it was an awesome experience i got my before i left i got my freedom wait you prayed for him yes god healed him i don't know where to go well you prayed for him and that way i never saw him again i never saw him in the background you got you got what you got a i got a uh a um whatever you call it i got the freedom to conduct to preach have to print hand bills i got freedom to rent an auditorium the next day i went down and rented the kentucky theater in the heart of greece only seated 2 000 people but that was a big miracle for me sure especially in greece make a long story short the place was packed to capacity every night every night thousands that was the turning point for greece that's what turned greece around and now they got some great churches in greece and that's where it went how long how long did you stay there i said you're two weeks now this i'll just tell you this last part of the story i've gone about seven eight days they used to put the sick penny in the streets like they did in bible days cots beds ambulances they found out the way i came in and i would walk have to walk through that crowd of people and they'd all grab me and i'd stop and pray for every one of them as we went into the theater and i went in about the seventh or eighth night because i wanted two nights more nights and the crusade is over and i walk in and these pastors old persecuted you could tell the suffering is on their face and they're crying i said why are you crying i said you want to be rejoicing for what the lord is doing they said brother so we're crying because tomorrow will be the last night [Music] we have prayed for this to happen here for scores of years we have suffered and paid the price and now you're going to leave us i said but i don't have any more money you see i was paying for the auditorium the government gave me the auditorium on one condition they let me print on one condition i would never take any money from the people so i paid for the auditorium the little bit of money i had that i was going to go to israel with i paid every night 300 or so dollars you took no offerings you could not take no offering so i paid for everything i went back up to my room and i said lord what are we going to do i said they're crying they're heartbroken i said i can't leave them and the holy spirit speaks to me and says call mama we call mrs cirillo those of you that know her we call her mama and because she is mother to millions of people around the world so i called teresa and i said honey and like first this is my first call i haven't made any calls all this time while i was going through this trauma and so i call i said honey this is what god's doing and it's beautiful it's marvelous and i said i just wanted to call you and talk to you because i have a little problem she said to me honey i know why you're calling she said you need money i said yes but i said where are we going to get it she said i'll tell you what i'll do we had just bought a house in newburgh next to grandma and it was being built it's an 11 000 house so you can see wasn't very much money in those days eleven thousand dollars and so we put a down payment on the house deposited while they were finishing it up and she had the down payment money in her bank and she said to me i'll get that money she said i'll sell it send it to you i said honey you know if you do that you're going to lose the house now you know we've been out on the evangelistic field for five years we traveled with three children in a car sometimes we couldn't afford a motel room i'd put my children in the drawers put a pillow in there and that's where they'd sleep we paid an incredible price i said i can't ask you to give up your home now we've saved for five years she sent me all the money we lost the house we lost the deposit and i came back home first thing i did when i cut off the airplane i went like this i took my pants pocket and took my thing and i showed her it's all gone but what a thrill oh i'm sorry okay what a thrill we had on that airport knowing what we had done so i went back out on the field in the united states and then god blessed me he blessed me with so much uh extra money what it took me five years to save i saved in one year and i said to mama i said honey it's time for now we could buy a house that we gave to the lord she said okay let's get in the car we would drive around day after day one day she said why don't we go back up and look at the place where this new development was that we had bought one of the houses and they were building it for us and we went there and i said honey look i said there's a sign on our house i said it says for sale so i rushed to the phone i called the real estate man i said jeff his name was jeffrey barron the real estate baron so i said amazing you remember all this wow so i said jeff you don't forget this supernatural thing well i mean for him to remember names first names and so i said jeff i said uh theresa and i are helped by the development we see you got a for sale sign on our old house now it's two years later he says uh that house reverend he said that's the biggest lemon i have ever had i've sold everything in that development but i can't sell that house goodness wow so mom and i we run in to see what it was like it was just like brand new not a person slept in it for a year not one person so he says would you like to buy it i said maybe you know so uh and i'll make long story short we bought it and then we sold it for 18 000 after we bought it for 11. he said you can buy it for the same price as a year ago though the prices went up and he said i'll tell you what else reverend he said i'll give you your deposit back oh my god we took your depo said i'll give it back to you miracle what an amazing lord we saw what a story i mean we could stay for many hours we don't have i gotta get home we have maybe another 40 something minutes but oh that low well let's let's just get a little more okay he never stops no because you know who knows when we'll do that again perpetual yeah let's let's go let's go from that time when now you came back from athens yeah you got the house back ministry began to to grow what was the next big event in your life that you can take us to and talk about probably brazil brazil okay so you went to brazil you were still how old how old were you by by this time oh my late 20s it's absolutely amazing to me that that uh you were still in your 20s yeah traveling the nations back in those years yeah i said my late 20s i could have been 29. it doesn't i'm not sure but i mean we're we're talking in what back in the 50s 60s yeah yeah right because 60s 60s so things were really tougher they were tougher days bad even when it comes to traveling so you went to brazil puerto alegra you've been there i've been there of course i have yes but you know the reason i'm asking all this is because it's amazing how you know you talk about greece you were really the first evangelist first first to break through since bible days no doubt yeah you got to hear this because this is why we're here talking because dr sorello is really the man god began using to open the gates again after hundreds of years of them being shut i went to athens a few times but this was back in the 90s i did not know what you went through it was easy for me to go there and rent a stadium and all that yeah the laws had changed by then but now you're in brazil this was before the great move we see today of course so talk to me about that a little bit well brazil was where i had a defining moment you know you can look back over your life and ministry sure and you find defining moments we've all had them yes yeah times where god is so real to you you can touch it sure with your hands you can see it with your eyes and i was i broke open brazil excuse me no but i'm kidding that's true that's true yeah yeah we raised up maybe 50 000 preachers in brazil put over a million people in church buildings in brazil you got their look no but it's true i'm just amazed you know i'm listening because i'm reaping a lot of the harvest that you sought for yeah well i i my ministry changed in this defining moment i was having the crusades god was blessing one day as i was speaking to 50 000 people in puerto alegra brazil in the exposition grounds and all of a sudden my chest collapsed i thought i'm having a heart attack i grabbed the little platform that the little pulpit that we just stick a couple pieces of wood together nothing fancy and i fell over and i called my crusade director where he was sitting claire hutchins did you know clayton he traveled with me for maybe 10 years and taught a great bible teacher so anyhow i called him i said claire come i said you finished the meeting i said i gotta go so i staggered to my car which was always parked behind the platform so i could sneak out before the mob would catch you so anyhow i got in the car fell in the back seat they drove me back to the hotel i got into my room i fell on my floor like one did wet soaking sloppy wet from head to toe and i prayed i said god am i going to die and god spoke to me now sometimes you need to know as be as as believers sitting here in this uh studio that when we say god spoke to us it doesn't mean always that god spoke in an audible voice god speaks in many ways he gives you a witness in your spirit he speaks to you he directs you you get a sense that i should go this way or i should do this or do that that's god speaking to you so i had god speak to me i'm laying on the floor and the voice says you're not going to die but i allowed this to happen to you for a reason and i prayed i said god please teach me i want to know what's the reason and then he asked me a question he said to me son what do you want out of this life i thought god you're asking me what i want i said don't you know i've given you my wife i've given you my children i've given you everything that i possess and now you're asking me what i want and it was there then and i'm not going to talk about it but god taught me one of the greatest truths that i ever heard and that was all truth is parallel talk about this just a little bit all right just a little bit i it's taken away too long can we do it another time another time okay well okay so but i wanted to know what what he meant by that and you see i knew my call from that heavenly experience that i had i knew it was to reach the world but how can one person reach the world how can billy graham reach the world how can all roberts reach the world how can benny him reach the world it's impossible the world multiplies too fast we've got almost eight billion people on the face of the earth right now more people are born and raised then die every year almost 100 million we're in a race against time so in brazil yes that's where something happened well god said you want to reach the world he said i said yes he said i'll give you the key to the closing world and that's where he taught me all truth is parallel i give just a smidge he said look at the world and you'll see there's a cry that's gone up africa for the africans india for the indians mexico for the mexicans south american for the south americans indonesia for the indonesia yankee go home and god said what is happening in the world is the national is crying out to rule his own country they don't want americans they don't want the british they don't want the french now god's teaching me all this a little boy on my back you want to reach this world he said be smart like the world he said the key is you raise up the african to reach africa you raise up the indian to reach the indian and that's when i came out of that experience i changed my whole course of doing things well this is when you began training now that's right so that's what the turning point that was the defining moment and that really has set you apart we've trained 5 million 5 million nationals so that's why when i travel today your children are everywhere people that you've touched in your training meetings in africa see we can't send enough missionaries thank god for the mystery but we can't send enough repeat something you told me years ago about the percentage of preachers preaching to america 94 preach here in america 6 preach to reach the world so 96 94 94 are preaching to less than six percent of the world's population wow so it's not fair 90 so over 90 of all the preachers are preaching to six percent of the world's population while only a very small group is preaching to the rest that was when you told me that years ago it changed the way i began to see the world because america has been evangelized over and over and and yet the world is still crying out yeah the unreached populations of the world are enormous what would you and we we don't have a whole lot of time but what would you tell us because maybe we'll never hear this from you again i'm going to plan to come maybe to your house and continue but what would you tell people if it was the only time you could say it about evangelism what would you say to us oh it's very difficult than it because it all boils down to your relationship with your lord the closer you get to him the more you're willing to give up and sacrifice your life they want me to look into that camera and i'll do that for you because people need to hear from a soul winner and you've been winning souls oh my god altered calls of a hundred thousand and and your please forgive me but i mean the the soul winners of the world are dying off yeah and very few of us are left behind left around that really minister to bring in the multitudes and the multitudes come because they see them miraculous i mean billy was probably on his own he and some others still that are going today you know stand alone in that god has so anointed them but when you look at the world worldwide the the healing ministry is no longer standing away yeah talk to us a little bit about evangelism well if all truth is parallel then the greatest parallel we can have is our lord and if you want to understand consecration go into the garden of gethsemane look at him with sweat drops of blood he didn't have to go to the cross he had a choice and he says to his father not my will but time be done doc when it comes to world evangelism it's it's that's really what we have to focus on today amen so you've you've done an amazing job some of us are still in it our time is running out what do you see coming for the world and for the church well i believe that we are about to experience the greatest move of the power of god being revealed to the world when i talk about that i mean supernaturalism is going to be released on an unprecedented basis we are going to be the instruments in the hands of god to see the bible miracles but not just of the new testament get ready you're going to see the old testament supernatural miracles of god come to the church don't fool yourself you can't play with this because i'm sorry i shouldn't have said that but no i want you to say what god is telling you to say when you say the old testament yeah yesterday the miracles red sea opening yeah exactly i wanted to explain that to some people yeah well the manifestations of supernaturalism that came to the prophets you're going to hear the voice of god again and when i say the voice of god i believe with every fiber of my being that you will hear there'll be some that will hear the literal voice of god as the old testament prophets heard it when it speaks about them receiving a word from god it was not something in their imagination it was literal a few days ago you and i were alone in your home and i told you that the lord has shown me that persecution is coming to america and you said you feel a witness yeah you want to talk about that well i don't know if i am qualified but you felt it too in your heart well i feel that we need to be ready for whatever comes and to be spiritually equipped so that when things do happen they don't take us by surprise you have been prosecuted probably more than people realize i take on the whole federal government i know and one and had the judge slam the gavel down and rebuke the attorneys for the government but but you were prosecuted to overseas oh i know i know about some i've been in jail at least five times i heard they took your passports away from you they did in china china won one of those it was in nicaragua nicaragua nicaragua yeah and you prayed and they gave you back your passport sent it back to me through the mail ortega the president they took my bible how do you like this for bible i have used this bible benny to preach for 73 years you know why is that why is it that all of us preachers don't let go of our old bibles i i still have the one i began preaching with and i keep putting it back together and it looks like you do the same yeah doc um when you were in jail what was it like being in there for the lord well i mean i've never had that but what what is it like to know you're there for jesus while you are going through the experience you're not thinking much along those lines at least i didn't but when i was incarcerated and picked up thrown in the back of a police car driven to the outskirts of mexico city and was before magistrates for four five six hours at a time before they finally decided to release me my uh victory was the razor sharp knowledge that what i was doing they could not do anything against me i don't know if that makes any sense yeah but as i would be being interrogated in nicaragua i had machine guns pointed at me what what other countries did you have trouble brazil i didn't have trouble i just was well that's i mean argentina yes in rosario argentina you know rosario okay i had a meeting in the stadium with 80 000 people in rosario and they arrested me for practicing medicine without a license now today today many precious pastors are being arrested in china yeah you know nobody talks about the painful persecution that's going on now throughout the world and you're one of them that has experienced some of it like that yeah i don't consider it anything that i have gone through as but doc the thing is the lord has used you in such a mighty way and i really believe the lord's going to give you a word for us today before we say goodbye but you have suffered and not only have you suffered you know around the world but even with your family if i can suffer more with that than anything the world did to me but i never suffered i don't consider anything that i've gone through i'm like the apostle paul you know you know these light afflictions i'm glad you see it that way every sincere i went through tremendous things you know but the most painful is what family having to sacrifice being with your children your grandchildren your great-grandchildren and them wondering where's my dad where is he why isn't he with me before we leave because we don't have much time and i don't want to if you don't want to talk about that i understand but can you talk to us about mark a little bit well i can't say very much you have to talk to mama about him but is it in the book yes what do you say about it in the book you have to read it i will read it i can tell you this i i'm allowed to say this but dr sorello had a very painful experience with his son who's gone now he's with the lord he was young how old was he by the way 30 son and i called him that was a few years ago oh almost been 10 years now and i called dr sorello and i just wanted to tell him how much i love him and my support and your response was shocking you said you know some reached out to you i know they did but not many i was one of them you were you always were there for them you always were there down through the years well i've always loved you we dishonor our leaders so sad whether it's oral or rex or yourself for others the church doesn't know how to honor servants of god i i said to many people i said if miss schuman was alive if she lived longer because i never met her but had she lived longer i would have been so privileged to help her to take care of what i mean needs you know not that she needed it but i i would have been there gladly but it hurts me when i think about the many great people i met that died with no one around them sad really who touched the world and the church just went on not caring about it and when they went through their pain nobody bothered with them so wrong so wrong so dr sorello you know he's gone through things i don't think he'll talk about it i don't think he's right to talk about but you know we talked today about all the great things and you'll need to get this book and you know there's pictures here with the president of ghana that i met years ago and uganda and others i mean you've affected the world but the price the price that he has paid staggering and now you're building the legacy oh yes the last thing i'm going to do for the lord and you're almost what you're i'd say half done maybe or somewhere about about half yeah right here in san diego and uh i'm looking at these beautiful pictures pauline i wish i had brought some pictures but well we'll we'll we'll have you back and the amazing things god is doing to you but you really you sweet people you know a little caveat that led to the building of legacy ben is mentioning that we're building a facility in san diego on 18 acres which is 300 000 square feet on the highway on the highway and i it started five years ago when i went to speak to a little group of people in chicago illinois as i stepped down on the platform i heard a voice it said to me son do you know prophets never retire i lord why prophets never retire i couldn't wait to get upstairs to my bedroom and i knelt down i said lord please what does this mean i hadn't thought about retiring no no but i had thought about taking it a little bit easy you know maybe spend more time with mama more time with the children and uh anyhow i heard the voice again it said i do not want this ministry that i have given to you that has raised up millions of nationals i do not want this ministry to die i get up off my feet and i said all right god i'll build you a legacy what's going to be in it all of the teaching and the training that god has given to me and to you you're going to be in the legacy people are going to be able from around the world to receive the teachings your teachings should never die or should never die catherine should never die so it'll be all of us in there never know all believe this but we thought he was he was going to go i was dead i was literally dying i was in a wheelchair i was a hopeless and my dear friends over there they know there was a hole there was a hole in one of in my right lane this lake here there was about am i about right now or that smaller that big i was actually nice it was about what this big in his in his leg and it went how deep was it about two inches and and they they didn't know what to really do i think you were on all kinds of medication everything pain pills couldn't get enough pain built pain was so severe it was can i can i look at that sure can he come over here and help us yeah i can't okay come on come here now the the whole if i recall was right there and all you have now is a scar yeah just a scar supernatural and this was about this much like in grew and covered the hole back up and so you you see all that area just one more time guys this whole thing was open like that it went in about this much just kidding two inches and and we all thought you know this is it it's you know he's not going to survive what happened before we take off like what i was sitting in my wheelchair remember i was not able to walk i was sitting in my wheelchair in a room with two of my associates and mama all of a sudden as we were sitting there a wave of the presence of god swept that room dear lord it was like nothing i ever felt in my life and it hit my body my whole body became like electricity i jumped up out of the wheelchair instantly and then from that day forward my skin on my leg the wound was healed and the skin grew back my doctors cannot understand it or explain it but i received the greatest miracle what a god we serve yeah you know um jeff get get ready the pastor chris partnership promo we're gonna go
