what god's going to do in this house tonight i don't know about you but i come with expectancy i've come tonight expecting god to show up in this house hallelujah a man the tremendous presence of the lord can be felt here tonight which we are so grateful and so very thankful amen as i make some announcements you can be seated i want to mention tonight that there is a meal that is being planned for the family and the guest ministry that are here we ask that you would join tonight with the ministry for the dinner and also there will be a special guest minister that will be preaching this sunday morning i won't be here but those from this church will be here amen and you can anticipate a guest preacher being here to preach this sunday morning as an extension of this occasion of installation celebration that's what it is this is a celebration tonight amen and then this sunday evening pastor micah narlock will be preaching in jesus name i think it ought to be already made up in our mind we're already looking forward to sunday night we're already looking forward to somebody leaving here changed in jesus name hallelujah hallelujah so this service tonight it is a passing the mantle service defining moments isn't restricted to set time of minutes and hours defining moments can be years it's the immersion of god and not the task to know the will of god we must first know the ways of god each of these men of god have been diligent in the ways of god whether it was pulling a fifth wheel trailer or putting up tents they understood the ways of god therefore the will of god can be accomplished tonight in this passing the mantle service it is my distinct honor and privilege to be here i am so very thankful to see so supportive ministries that are represented in each section that are here tonight what a what a commendable show and display of favor of support look what the lord has done hallelujah i'm here to celebrate tonight let's continue this great spirit of celebration in this place tonight praise the lord everybody praise god it's good to be here tonight and uh first of all i want to say to the norlocks welcome to north carolina i wrote by this morning about seven o'clock and started to blow my horn and then i remembered the baby and i figured out wouldn't be a good thing to do but most people here know who i am some of you may not but i am they call me bishop chapman they say what do you do to get to be a bishop you get gray hair and but in the early 90s i got the feeling uh the call to come to morganton i preached my first service actually in 1986 there was a church and then the pastor passed away and things happened to that church closed but i was feeling the need to come to morganton and start a church that taught this apostolic truth and in november of 92 i met the district board of united pentecostal church to come to uh there was another guy that has was meeting the board and he'd had years as a missionary and as a home missionary and several things and a good resume but when i went into that room and started telling them my burden then the holy ghost came down and uh they were in tears and uh so they said they felt it was the weather lord that i come so we came and we rented a little building i mean when i say little it was little and would seat we packed it out pretty full but uh it would only seat about 25 or 30 but we had close to 100 at one point uh in a special service that we had but uh brother roy helped get it ready sister christine was in the first service with us and we worked and tore down walls and built walls and uh they gave me these codes we had to go by and they they said uh the commode has to be so many inches from the wall so there's a building in town today the commode didn't get moved but the wall did and it's it's a fake wall but it got moved and they told me the commode had to be so far off the floor and so i put the commode down and the commode seat on and i took the rule and i measured it and i was a half inch short so i run out to lowe's and bought one of those cushion toilet seats and i pass code because you really got your mind made up there'll be something you do but the first easter that we had service we we had 11 people in attendance the second easter we had 52 people in attendance we won a a certificate have been the fifth fastest growing church in north america the third easter we had nine i kept waiting for them to come and ask for the certificate back but they never did i finally just burned it or something threw it away you know because anyway moved on but uh i was ready to quit i i didn't tell anybody but i was ready to quit i was ready to go back to gastonia where now he's at and i was ready to quit and go back to gastonia and i didn't tell anybody about it but i went to the post office one day and took out a letter from a man in missouri and he said brother chapman you don't know me and i don't know you he said i've never heard of you and i've never heard of morganton north carolina before said but i was down praying that god spoke to me and told me to write you this letter and said he told me to tell you don't you quit don't you quit you're right where god wants you to be well we went through several buildings we went through several congregations we rode the pentecostal roller coaster up and down up and down around the curves and it got scary sometimes but then i knew that god was doing the work and in the uh 2000s i got the feeling that i need to turn it over to my son and did in 2005 in september of 2005 and brother lance asked me what date was it easy i'll never forget it was my birthday somebody said you want to do it on your birthday yes and so i turned it over to my son on my birthday in 2005 not knowing the rest of the journey and we won't get into all that tonight but there was reasons why god's timing is always what time god's timing is supposed to be and tonight some people may wonder about why things are transpiring the way they are but god's timing is always right but i thank god that he helped me to lay the foundation of a church i thank god for my family and for what they have done in this church and i thank god because they bring honor to their parents and y'all pardon this next statement the only regret that i have is that their mother could not be here with them tonight i told them and then say that with all sincerity uh she passed away in 2006 and if she could be here she'd be so proud of her family but i want brother and sister norlock to know pastor and sister norlock to know that bishop chapman is 100 behind them and want to be there to help them and encourage them in any way possible and will also be a friend but you know we want to do something tonight this is their first service actually going to be when they get to be pastor so we want to take up a good offering for this church tonight so we're going to ask you to uh take out your wallets your pocketbooks [Music] take out something it's great to have an opportunity to give wonderful to have an opportunity to give so if we'd all stand [Music] i can't get to my wallet sitting down it's kind of hard at a drive-through i'm like leaning over to take the seat belt loose lean over feel for my wallet finally find it dig it out and then got to put it back so you need to stand up get to your wallet [Music] and where'd he go where would a greg go [Music] we're going to who receives the offering who's he's got i look at they've johnny on the spot they need one named johnny but just give tonight as god has graciously given unto you you'll bring your offering as they sing tonight [Music] i am so blessed my soul has found rest oh lord i give you thanks [Music] thanks i give you [Music] thanks i am so blessed my soul has found rest oh lord i give you thanks lord we give you thanks thanks we give you thanks [Music] [Music] one more time [Music] i give you thanks for your time i am so blessed my soul has found rest oh lord i give you thanks amen lord bless us offer and use it for your kingdom and glory in jesus name praise the lord amen we thank the rock church we'd like to thank bishop chapman uh for laying down the foundation here in morganton and we appreciate all that you've done amen let's give the lord a handclap our praise hallelujah thank god for a church i am so thankful for a church hallelujah amen i am i feel very privileged to speak tonight and i'm very honored to have served with my pastor for these last several several years if there if my pastor and sister chapman and all their children would come up here at this time i would appreciate it if you'll come up on the stage hallelujah are you thankful for a pastor amen i know the rock church is thankful for the pastor that has served for 16 years hallelujah here in morganton north carolina hallelujah i am thankful for a man of god in my life hallelujah to help me to steer me in the right direction amen hallelujah but today let us give honor where honor is due i was thinking about what i could say to sum up you may be seated about these very special people and i say people not just a pastor pastor doesn't serve alone he serves with a lady with its children making sacrifices everywhere and every thing that they do they make sacrifices for the church and their family amen and i love my pastors family and i appreciate them today but i was thinking about what i could say there are so many words that i could describe them from committed to dedicated to spontaneous that might not describe our sister but definitely our pastor hallelujah but the words could go on and on but i think best of all what could describe them is the people that are here today the people from the rock church the people that have been touched by them in their ministry the people that have been affected by them i was looking at the calendar and thinking about when i first came to church and i looked at the calendar and to my astonishment 15 years ago to this day september 10th was a sunday and at that time a 26 year old man walked into my store into the flea market which he hated going to the flea market in the first place but then at that time we had church at 4 pm in the afternoon and he got himself up in that morning and for something for some reason he felt a tug at his spirit to go to the flea market and he walked into my store in the flea market he invited me to church i had never been invited to church i had been in the navy for eight years i had just recently got out of the navy through one of the largest trials in my life and he had walked in and invited me to church it was that day that my life would be changed forever it was that day that my wife would meet sister chapman and my kids met their new lifelong friends over the years i have seen the chapmans making sacrifice after sacrifice for the church and members of the church my family today is so grateful for a man of god that taught us the truth that took time to but to give us bible studies that took time to tear sheetrock down that took time to go out and play basketball or whatever he could do to connect to people to bring them to the word of god and to love people to bring the increase to the kingdom of god there are many in this church that have similar stories as i do and thousands of people in this community that have been affected by you and your family today on behalf of the rock church i want to take this opportunity to present to you a small token of our appreciation for you your wife and your family hallelujah let's give the lord another handclap of praise i am so thankful for my pastor and his wife and family [Applause] there you go [Music] [Music] [Music] hey thank you guys we love you i'll say more later but we appreciate you very very much let's give god a handclap of praise [Applause] [Music] we have one more thing [Music] we've got one item they would that the church wants them to open right now [Music] [Music] we thank you for your love of truth people and god you have given us an example to follow we thank you for following the spirit you will be missed as you go into a new chapter our thoughts and prayers are always with you [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] thank you jesus oh thank you jesus amen why don't we just take a moment to love the lord let's all lift our hands across this house god we love you in this place tonight oh we thank you jesus come on let's worship the lord one more song in this place hallelujah [Music] the lord is my shepherd [Music] he goes before me [Music] oh i'm filled with [Music] anointing oh [Music] hallelujah [Music] always holds me close [Music] he always [Music] the mountains and valleys oh his joy is refreshing joy is refreshing restores my soul all his mercy mercy and goodness [Music] [Applause] oh [Music] always loves me [Music] i am [Music] is [Music] your spirit is within me so i will walk in your peace your spirit lives within me [Music] [Applause] your spirit lives within [Music] your spirit lives [Music] [Music] oh come on somebody he's my comforter [Music] [Music] would you lift your hand just say hallelujah [Music] [Music] yeah you're my comforter [Music] oh thank you lord come along across this place let's love him tonight oh we worship you come on let's give it to jesus right now he's worthy of praise come on somebody make a joyful noise unto the lord [Music] hallelujah hallelujah hallelujah hallelujah mighty god mighty god mighty god mighty god you may be seated as we approach this service today as i've prayed over this and pastor narlock and myself going back and forth and prayed over it there has been mixed emotions even in the service today walking out i turned to pastor narlock i said i feel like we're walking to the gallows both of us not just me not just my wife both of us i said i met both of us [Music] in times like this you know and i've tried i i don't see this happen often i don't know but in times like this i don't know if there's someone said to me if you had wrote a book on how to do it half of them weren't read it the other half wouldn't understood it i don't know if there was a special way to do this the right or wrong brother james you're right it is a celebration though and even it's it's like the sadness of watching a child getting married and going off you're crying but you're you're happy i told someone i think it's pastor erskine or someone this morning i felt like i came out here i told i wanted to cut grass one more time and i was cutting the grass and i'm crying cutting grass and i felt the joy of when i saw my oldest son get the holy ghost and the sadness of when i buried my mother all at the same time 28 years when my dad came here in 1992 i didn't want to come i told him so i was 12 years old just finished my first year of bible quizzing and i'll never forget the night of east coast conference i remember who preached but that night god got a hold of me and he put a set of keys in my pocket a little 12 year old boy didn't understand for you've got to understand the keys to a city is not given by a mayor nor by any man but by god alone there's no governor no president to give someone the keys to the kingdom or the keys to a city but god gives a man the keys to a city and i remember then the only desire i had this is young man i wanted to be a soul winner and i felt authority i felt power i told a whole missionary recently said brother chapman what do i need to do to reach my city and he's walking around all timid and stuff i said man you need to own your city you had to own it that means he called me what do you mean i said do you have the keys or do you not have the keys of that city you walk into the mayor's office you let him know you're the pastor everywhere you go you're the man of god for that city and for 16 years i've felt that there wasn't nowhere i went i was someone knocked on my door several years ago and asked me to run for mayor and i said i'm not going to lower myself down to be mayor i'm the pastor of this city but in april of this year something happened i didn't tell my wife i didn't tell my pastor i didn't tell nobody but i drove through the city and i reached into my spiritual pocket and the keys weren't there i'd step to the pulpit brother morrison's so good to see you my friend all all the ministries thank you for coming i accepted the pulpit and i had no vision i was scared pastor erskine i felt like an evangelist always having church so i began to pray and fast some of you know that gastonia was a church that we had already taken and we're pastoring both churches and uh but god began to deal with me and i i remember i left morganton that day i was sad i was scared i was afraid and i began to drive down 321. and when i saw the sign i said welcome the guest on you i felt the keys in my pocket again i called a dear friend of mine on the other side of the country i said man i don't know how explain this this doesn't make any sense i love the i love the church but god said it's his church not my church we like to say that in conferences and we like to talk about it's his church not my church but uh i want to give honor to this church you are our waitress our cashier at food lion our attendant at the gas station you were that man trying to provide for his family at the jamestown flea market you were an orphan you were a weary drug addict you were our neighbor with rowdy kids that wouldn't let us sleep you were that depressed high school student you served me my biscuits and gravy at mcdonald's now you know why i look this way you cooked enchiladas at our thursday night bible study you played ball with me at college street you were that good old baptist you were not a people but you became an incredible church i've been honored to be your pastor but i'm even more honored to know where god placed the keys [Music] before i go there i'm just going to take my time i want to give honor to my family charlotte keep singing that girl sings everywhere we go she makes up words for songs bo is my little giant of a man if you don't give an offering he will cut you sophia my princess with such a sensitive heart i'm proud of your bible question this year girl to my sons victor and trey you bring us honor these are good men of god that not only they love the lord but they love the kingdom of god and to my girlfriend my best friend my gift from god my analytical always got a plan married a man with no plan i never like to travel alone without you every time i'm away i want to come home as quickly as possible thank you for sharing this journey with me pastor mark copeland i want to thank you and to the church of sebastopol if you would extend my thanks it's your leadership and undoubted sacrifices that you and your family have made i don't know it i know every church makes them that you afforded a place for someone like nina sister near no luck to be saved and to become such a great woman of god to the church of sebastopol and to pastor copeland thank you so very much you've given this city a gift that we can never repay i honor you honor your family tonight to elder and sister narlock man you got more energy than three kids combined i don't know how you do it sis i like you guys i love everybody i don't like everybody but i like you guys and i want to thank you from the bottom of my heart i don't know the journeys and the trials and the sacrifices you made to train up such good children but the sacrifices you made mama dad you have given this city an angel a gift and for that we honor you why don't we put our hands together for these people [Applause] i don't know how many prayer meetings you had how many times but it was worth it and it's going to be worth it for hundreds or thousands of people thank you to the elder sister narloken to nina's family to the extended family to all the family that came in to support this beautiful couple thank you thank you from the bottom of my heart it makes me feel good to know that they have the support behind them [Music] i want to say this make it public pastor mike narlock did not call me about this no one knew my wife did not even know what i was dealing with i'm driving around gastonia crying like a big baby what am i doing and then i was reminded that about a year ago may i keep a contingency letter in my office pastor erskine and my wife have access that god forbid if something were to happen to me and last may of 2020 as i was praying i put down one name on that list if something were to happen to me that i want mike narlock to be pastor of this church i didn't tell him that he had no idea and so last past april i made contact with brother narlock and i said bro i think it's the will of god for you and nina to be here he said what do you mean that's what he said i said i don't know what i'm talking about man if my wife hears that she's going to lose her mind but i really feel it's the will of god so we begin to pray fast they came out and visited we felt we had to keep lord wouldn't let us release it and and um we got confirmation after confirmation after confirmation after confirmation after confirmation it just kept happening god kept showing his hand he said this is the man this is the angel and this is the first lady for the rock church of morganton and i stand before you before i turn the service over to the preacher i want you to know pastor micah i think your wife's taking care of the baby you have my confidence and i can only imagine just as much as we feel the tearing and the pulling and uh brother shoemake preached an incredible message that i've had to go back and listen to 10 times since june that god takes the bread he blesses it but then he breaks it to multiply it and he has blessed us but he's breaking us to multiply us and he's breaking you and nina and i know because of that breaking it's going to multiply this church and i thank you for going through the breaking i thank nina for going through the breaking for uprooting everything you know to come somewhere where you don't know if you're going to be accepted or loved but i can assure you this church has loved us and they're going to love you this church has been with us through good times and bad and they're going to be these are the most loyal and faithful people you're ever going to be a part of and they're going to stick by your side i know these people the rock church would you stand clap your hands for pastor nina narlock [Applause] you can be seated to the saints of gastonia that made the trip tonight i just have this to say to you put your seat belts on keep all hands and feet inside the car at all times you take that however you want it pastor erskine sister erskine thank you for being here tonight my dad made mention of the loss of our mother his dear wife all those years ago my first year pastoring uh we we had about 13 or 14 in church dad we had seven funerals that year and last one was my mom and uh my dad came to me and said son i need to take a sabbatical from ministry and you need a pastor in your life he knew i was too much of a knucklehead not to have a voice i said dad who do you suggest and he said i i think pastor teder's going to be a good voice for you son and dad i can't take thank you enough for having the foresight and vision to do that i really mean that you are one of my heroes i mean that i hope that every day of your life that i honor you and that my boys honor you i mean so i called pastor erskine i'll never forget that call i did not call him to climb some proverbial ladder of apostolic success i don't even think i knew what that was [Music] i just wanted to save my children i wanted to save my family and i wanted to be a good preacher and a good pastor but however pastor your leadership has elevated me to be a better husband a father and a pastor and i thank you for that and you mama erskine for hoping you're home to us for being a voice for my wife and a shoulder to lean on thank you so much and to the newport family i know i'm a far distant son brother but every time we get to come it's always good to come home and we love you and thank you for being here tonight pastor erskine thank you for serving on this corporate board of the rock church for so many years and for years to come that you are committed to serve we thank you and for more importantly i thank you for a steady hand and enough room in your heart for the crazy chapmans namely myself the rest of them are easy to love but why don't we stand tonight i've asked brother narlock and i both have agreed that this was the best choice for it pastor erskine we thank you and we honor you we want you to come tonight and preach to us the word of god once you put your hands together and welcome them to god tonight amen why don't we magnify jesus together everybody everybody everybody father we love you god we love you we love you we love you i love you i love you i love you i love you i love you amen you may be seated for just a moment and uh i must tell you uh brother lance i think it was you might have been greg i think it was lance spontaneous doesn't even begin to describe billy chapman you got that man you get paid you get paid more if you play that for me i promise it soothed my spirit there you go and if they don't pay you more you let me know and i'll pay you more uh you know what i'm talking about anyway to the church in morganton god bless you i really really really do mean that um i really mean it may god bless you i can't think of anything aside from burying your pastor your first lady i can't think of anything that would be more more raw than dealing with what you're dealing with but uh may god bless you to the stragglers from newport who are coming from summit uh i don't know why you want to hear me preach again but anyway god bless you brother chapman i love you very very much we've known each other for a long long time a long time and i know i saw austin around here somewhere austin peters anyway there he is god bless you my friend brother patterson who also serves on the corporate board of this local assembly and they will serve as long as they want us to but whenever they don't want us to just tell us and we'll get on down the road that's just how it works and so god bless you elder narlock uh god bless you as well and brother chapman was right uh you man micah's micah's top shelf he's for he's going to take this this church places i really mean that and i'm going to say this respectfully respectfully uh i believe that this is the will of god i don't always understand it because billy chapman is one of the greatest soul winners i've ever met the guy is spontaneous and uh but he probably did something that you couldn't do i mean he dug this thing out but i'm telling you i think god's got you here because you're going to do something that brother chapman couldn't do i don't know what it is but i really believe that with everything that's within me i've told my wife this i'll tell both of you this now i really think that you're the next step and uh i believe that with all my heart i really really do um also ryan thank you so much man you are stuck had a mercy you're so gifted man oh man if i had half your gifts you're so gifted and uh brother jeans god bless you for taking time out to be here to help them celebrate dear friends of course but you've got a long drive tomorrow god have mercy lord help you so thank you uh brother forrest i saw you somewhere over there want to go frame a house together somewhere oh go by yourself i'm not interested anymore amen brother copeland where mark there you are i want to tell a little story about brother copeland very quickly copeland and i were in manhattan 10 years ago and uh now i don't i don't i don't listen to country music but i do know this i do know this name and so it's it's our last day there he's down in times square he's gone on a long i think it was a trench coat maybe a black one and i think you had a black cowboy hat or something on and so there's nowhere to eat but there's a mcdonald's that's open that i got my story right okay and so i'm back at this this church that we were working out of we were on a missions trip and mark is uh brother copeland or i'm just the first name guy uh and uh i mean i signed official correspondence ted it's just who i am um and so uh it's about midnight and he comes walking in his trench coat his black hat on and he and only as brother copeland could do he said now you're going to believe this and we're sitting there there's a couple of us sitting there and said well what happened he said i'm standing in line at mcdonald's he said and while i'm standing there there's a i don't know if it was a lady or a man and uh they're in the mcdonald's and they're looking at him you know you're you know you're in times square being gawked at and he's just standing there and they said i know you you can't hide from me and i'm thinking man here's a legion deal okay like you got spirits or something i know who you i know who you are and brother copeland said i just stood there and just kind of turned around and they said you're clint black i know who you are trying to hide right right so awesome man it yeah it's gonna be great for a little while and then they turn 15. i know i know sorry grandpa but this is how it works all right but anyway god bless you you guys are top chefs you still didn't come preach for me where's brother morrison remember we were we were at uh benjamin's and uh brother narlock was supposed to preach for me and he got tied up preaching for somebody else that paid him more money and so you know how evangelistic all right he said well brother erskine i'd love to come preach for you but this brother right here pay good so i'm gonna stay right here if it's all right with you and i said well man rock on slick have at it no i'm just kidding but anyway god bless you i really do have great hope for the future of this church would you stand with me this evening as we turn our attention to the word of the lord and uh the book of uh the old testament book if i could say it that way not all because it's no good but old because it it matters today let's turn our attention if we could to the book of numbers chapter number 27 to my precious and sweet sweet sweet sweet wife who is the best thing that's ever happened to me this side of jesus christ and someone asked us this week i guess how long we've been together and we have been dating since we were 16 years old and she's 37 right now and i'm 27. so long long time i love my wife she is she's the bomb the bomb the bomb lord jesus man our life i'm telling you if we wrote a book there's no way people would not believe it i'm i'm telling you truth is stranger than fiction when it comes to her and i it is our we laugh she's like we laughed today so hard that i couldn't breathe anymore i was like gagging trying to get air over something that happened numbers 27 [Music] verse number 12. and the lord said unto moses get thee up into this mount abarim and see the land which i have given unto the children of israel when thou hast seen it thou also shalt be gathered unto thy people and aaron thy brother as aaron thy brother was gathered for ye rebelled against my commandment at the in the desert of sin or zen in the strife of the congregation to sanctify me at the water before their eyes that is the water of marabha at kadesh in the wilderness of zinn and moses spake unto the lord saying lord let the lord the god of the spirits of all flesh said a man over the congregation which may go out before them and which may go in before them which may lead them out which may bring them in that the congregation of the lord be not as sheep which have no shepherd i want to preach this evening for just a little while if you'll help me i want to preach a final request at abarim a final request let's pray father we love you today we thank you god for the truth because your word never changes it's always the same to everybody and god let us be a part of the kingdom in this last day and age we give you praise and glory and honor we love you you're magnificent oh god in jesus name we pray amen god bless you thank you for standing you certainly may be seated the first time the word shepherd appears in the scripture it is used to describe the world's view of a shepherd the first time the word shepherd is used in the bible it is used hey darryl it is used in genesis chapter 46. in verse number 34 and it says this ye shall say the servants trade hath been about cattle from our youth even unto now both we and also our fathers that you may dwell in the land of goshen for every shepherd is an abomination unto the egyptians and that's the first place the word shepherd is used and i am convinced the reason this world had and has currently such an incredible disdain for the shepherd is because they cannot fathom how important the role of a shepherd a true shepherd really is and the role that that that shepherd plays in the overall well-being of the saint of god the greek word is pomane and uh we we we it's translated uh shepherd and and that's where we get our word pastor if i could say it that way a pastor is a shepherd indeed and for millennia this idea that god has posed in the scripture that his way of directing his people and feeding his people would be through the mouth of a shepherd brother chapman mentioned this evening and i i'm just going to be very transparent about my my my deep sense of feeling regarding the the shepherd and brother chapman said it i believe he said it to elder narlock uh this evening when he was talking about to micah and he said you've given us an angel the bible speaks about the angel in the book of revelation and i i i believe in the evangelist i am a four-fold or a five-fold ministry however you want to do the pastor teacher thing and i'm for it i believe they still exist i believe there are still apostles i believe there are still prophets i believe there are still evangelists and pastors and teachers and i believe they have been sent by god for the perfecting of the saints i don't think that any one ministry has the capacity or the capability to perfect the church i do believe it takes the whole spectrum of ephesians uh chapter four to to define what a church needs to be and should be to be effective but the bible tells us in the book of revelation that there is this this this angel of the church of thyatira and an angel of the church of sardis and an angel of philadelphia and an angel of pergamon and you get the point and he said when whenever i want to speak really speak to my church i'm going to talk to the angel i've had great evangelists in our church and i when i say great i mean like the ones that uh uh they're you you get to you get the point and uh and we have great church powerful church church services that will be remembered i remember one time we had an evangelist preaching and if i called his name everybody would know him and uh he's an odd bird i'll tell you that but anyway we're very very very good friends and he preached and the holy ghost was moving it was so powerful ryan and the altar service was just like dynamic it was like explosive and it was raining outside and people were running all over that sanctuary they i mean i mean just a hundred's just just going i mean flying everywhere and and they were running into each other and it was just becoming uh chaos and the musicians are still playing and it's raining outside and we got people running outside in the rain our church is on the highway people are going down the highway looking at people like they're nuts it's raining they're laying out in the parking lot on the asphalt in their suits and their dresses and we're just having i believe in evangelists if that's what an advantage does kick it up brother let's do it again so i'm for that but i'm telling you the deepest moves of god that our congregation has ever had i'm not gonna no i am gonna the most meaningful and life-changing and impacting on a regular basis always happens when that man of god steps to that pulpit and he knows he's got a word from god i'm telling you god begins to minister i'm not belittling i'm not demeaning i'm not being unkind because an evangelist can do things that the pastor cannot do but i'm telling you it's been my experience after pastoring almost 31 years the same congregation that my wife and i started in our living room i'm telling you the most significant and life-changing and life-altering events have almost invariably come the the major let me say the majority of them have happened when the pastor is in the pulpit and i know that god has been using the pastor the office of the pastor for many many years this way um thousands of years and so i understand that that the ministry of the pastor as we read in genesis chapter 46 is not a a positive ministry in the minds of of this world this world has great disdain for the pastor there was a day when the world honestly respected the pastor and the man of god and you you you probably don't know this because many of us uh have never operated in in this kind of society but there was a day when there was a natural acceptance of the ministry and and they would receive all kinds of benefits when they would go buy something like now you have like uh uh uh you know senior citizens discounts there was a time when there would be ministry discounts pastoral discounts they call them preacher discounts because there was respect for the ministry but in today's society things are rapidly changing you see they are changing and i know society doesn't appreciate the pastor i get that this world doesn't appreciate the pastor i know their opinion is that we are an abomination but i'm telling you god still uses the pastor like he uses no other aspect of ministry that is capable of impacting the church like he wants the church to be impacted so the church reaches the world like we're supposed to be reaching the world there is a tremendous amount of responsibility that's given to the pastor pastor narlock a tremendous amount of responsibility i don't ever recall reading in the bible anywhere in any text where god was angry with the sheep because the flock was unhealthy never it is not in there anytime god is looking at a flock that is unhealthy he places the responsibility upon the shoulders of the shepherd every single time in the book of zechariah he simply states therefore they went their way as a flock they were troubled because there was no shepherd why was the flop troubled they were troubled not because they were a troublesome flock or not because they were recalcitrant or not because they were stubborn they were troubled because they didn't have a shepherd that's why over the years it's just it's just happened this way i was uh of course i was up at uh wherever that place is pigeon forge uh this week and and down south at least this part of the world uh they call many people around here like if you pastor they call you preacher preacher preacher and and i i tell my don't don't you call me preacher i ain't your preacher i'm your pastor i i mean we can bring in you know somebody else be preached for you but i'm not your preacher i'm your pastor i've had little kids who go to public school and uh and and they can tell they're in you know they're in church and and they'll say to them well what what what's what is your your pastor's name honey pastor no honey what's his name pastor no but baby he's got a name i i i i've only known him as pastor i didn't even know the brother had a last name it's just pastor he just paid your pastor and i i i don't get i don't get my kicks out of it when they call me that like i'm in supreme authority but it reminds me whenever they use that word whenever they say pastor and not brother and not not not preacher and i'm not saying that's the wrong thing to do i'm just telling you how we do it in newport when they call me pastor they're reminding me you are responsible for me you are responsible for getting me to heaven don't you ever think that you are off the hook don't you ever think that that you cannot correct me and you cannot preach to me because you're afraid you're going to hurt my feelings every time they call me pastor they are reminding me that i have a tremendous responsibility i've got to give them to heaven you've got to get their kids to heaven brother you've got to get their family to heaven so let them call you pastor don't let them call you micah don't let them call you that stuff you are the pastor of the church and i would suggest from this day forward he may have been the evangelist and he may have been micah to you but he ain't micah no more that is the man of god in this church and he is the pastor of the church and he needs to be represented as such he needs to be treated as such and you've got to act as such so the shepherd may be an abomination to the world but it's not an abomination to the church and whether you believe it or not you've got to have a pastor to go to heaven brother narlock i just want to talk to you for just a moment if i could i had a young pastor call me a couple years ago and uh he said i know this is the nod request but do you think i could just come and spend the week with you and i thought that's not only an odd request that's yes come on and i said you can do it but you might be pretty bored because you could be hanging upside down 30 feet in the air uh setting some mono trusses on six inch wall plates but come on come on let's go and they wanted to come and find out how we do it i want to know how you do it i don't know how you build a church i want to know what you do i wonder how to do it brother and sister narlock i'm telling you i don't know how to do it i'm just telling you i only know one thing about building a church just one that's all i know everything else seems to take care of itself i just know one thing i don't know how to tell you how to do this but we're riding down the road the first day and we're talking and having a good time i let him meet all of our leaders we he went to one of our our our leadership meetings and and did all of that and and he was eating all that up and and so we're going down the road the next day and we're driving around and spending the days together and and he said okay he said i want you to tell me i've got questions i want to know how you build a church and how you make an impact on their lives i figured okay buddy you wanna know i'm gonna tell you i told him everything i knew it took me about three and a half minutes i don't know how it happens i'm telling you to this day sir it is a mystery to me i feel like i have one responsibility in life and i'm driving down the road with this young man he's wanting to know how much i pray and how much i study and i pray every day and i read my bible literally every day don't tell me you called to preach and don't read your bible you lie to yourself okay i'll move on and so we're driving down the road and uh he's asking all these questions and and i'm i'm like you know buddy i i yeah i'd pray about that one and he asked another one and and you know brother jesus i said i pray about that one and then he asked and i said oh man oh my oh wow bud whoa hey i'd pray about that one and that and i that's all i don't know what to tell him and finally we're just going and he keeps asking these questions sincerely asking and i said okay i'm gonna tell you this is what you've got to know this is all you need to know he's sitting on the edge like oh here we go i'm gonna go i'm gonna go from 15 to 500 in about three weeks bring it on i said this is all i know the lord is my shepherd i shall not want he maketh me to lie down in seven of you know good green pastures he leadeth me beside the lord is my it is the shepherd's responsibility to make certain that the waters around the church are still waters because i'm telling you today sheep will not feed around troubled waters you may be having church people may be running they may be jumping there may be singing you can have all your programs you can have all this but elder i'm telling you it's been my experience in 30 31 years of pastoring be 31 years here in a couple of weeks in 31 years of pastoring i have learned that sheep will not feed they will attend but they will not feed by troubled waters whatever you got to do sis make sure the waters stay stay calm and still whatever is happening when they're blowing up you've got to maintain when they're freaking out about something you got to have that that inner sense of security and nobility and strength it doesn't mean you're not bubbling up inside but you've got to convey to them it's going to be all right it's going to be this is going it's going to be okay i know they left i know three families have walked out but i'm telling you it's not the end of the world this is gonna be all right i'm telling you today pastor friend if you really want to build a stable healthy church you've got to learn that sheep will not feed beside troubled waters he said the lord is my shepherd i shall not want he maketh me to lie down in green pastures and he leads me beside the still waters waters brother narlock have got to be still they can't be troubled sheep get nervous when that happens when you come to this pulpit don't bring trouble don't bring the church troubles up my god they know about them anyway you're gonna act like you're gonna tell them something they don't know know it for i know anyway most of the time that's why they come after the church who told you nobody nobody sheep feed besides still waters sheep feed besides still waters i'm going to hasten here this evening and get to my point i know that pastor chapman has done a great job building this church as he has and it is a great church but but i i found something in the scripture that is so very very very true i read in the book of corinthians the apostle paul and he said this he said you you you followers he said you follow me as i follow christ rock church let me tell you something you have got to follow him as he follows christ you can't follow me as i follow christ you can't follow brother james as he follows christ you have got to follow your shepherd as he follows christ paul said you follow me as i follow christ you you don't follow peter as he follows christ cause peter ain't your pastor i am well yeah but over and and i got a friend that goes to church and and they can and and they have great church it's the same execute you know the same deal i'd say your kids come home and say this but i was one of those kids that did that yeah yeah yeah but johnny's mom let's him mothers would you like to answer this or shall i answer it for you but i'm not johnny's mother and i don't care what johnny does you're fitting to get your hind in torus but john i don't care what they do in newport news can i help you for a minute seeing how this is your first official day and i got like 31 years of these days when they go to a meeting and come back oh jesus god have a help of jesus lord jesus oh god and then come back and then all of a sudden you start seeing these whacked out wigged out freaked out you started seeing all these stupid kind of stupid stuff yeah man i had my boys go to a meeting one and they had ties they must have taken the knots and wrapped burlap bags up and then took ties and wrapped the knot was sticking out like this mark and i'm like what are you doing well pastor matter of fact i had one i had one of my best preacher friends was on the platform with me one of my boys walked up they not should have not done that and he walked up and said hey pastor i didn't say i love you god bless you so awesome man kick it up i said what is that around your neck and my friend said that looks cool i said it may look cool for you or you pastor but it don't look cool for me you get that mess straightened out boy you ain't following brother [Applause] he ain't your pastor i gotta deal with your nasty stinking rotten attitude every day of the week and you follow me as i follow christ i'm not being unkind i'm not being mean hey man i love my people so much i cannot wait to get home but i'm telling you i can't pastor your saints and my saints can't follow your preaching so rock church if you go to a meeting and you know you see something or hear something that the man of god does not permit don't be stupid you can bump my offering up about that one buddy all right a bit extra onion right there son i feel like staying on that one but ain't no my business you follow your pastors he follows christ let me get my message and i'll be over we read in our text tonight in the book of numbers chapter 27 and moses is about to move off the scene brother chris can't do er can i get some verses if i need them it just if i need them moses is about to pass off the scene and the condition of the flock is ever in his mind he is consumed by it as a matter of fact listen to me he is so consumed by it that according to his father-in-law jethro moses is even willing to wear himself out to the point of death meeting the needs of these people who are stubborn rebellious and recalcitrant you see moses loved the people of god as a matter of fact i'm telling you moses to me is the greatest personality in the scripture outside of christ i know david's great paul is great and that's that's good everybody has their own but he's my favorite figure when you can become the meekest man on the face of the earth god can use you god can trust you with a rod that turns into a snake when you're the meekest man on the face of the earth god will give you power that he'll give nobody else if you can become meek not timid meek meek meek one time i'm going to show you the love that moses had for his church for his people one time god is getting ready to wipe israel off the map we know the story and moses is is trying to intercede with god and and god just like get out the way i'm done with this i'm so sick of this i'ma wipe these reprobates out i am done and moses said uh god i know i'm out of place here but if if you're not going to deliver them then don't save me either how do you talk bad about a pastor when you come in time after time after time a broken heap of failure that says god if you're not going to forgive them don't forgive me either and you want to criticize him and fuss about him and complain moses said as a matter of fact just go ahead and blot my name out if you're not going to take them in see the bible says and the lord said unto moses would you get verse number 12 for me numbers chapter 27 i'll read that real quick and i'm closing brian get ready buddy and the lord said unto moses get thee up into this mount mount abaram and see the land which i have given unto the children of israel and god said and when thou hast seen it in verse 13 thou shalt be gathered unto thy people as was thy brother aaron he said now i'm going to tell you why i'm going to do this he said because you rebelled against me i know i know that you've led my people and i honor you but man you've got to do what i tell you to do so what i'm going to have you do is go up into the mount area of of abaram and abirum simply means the region's about and we know it to be nebo and he said i want you to go up into abram to the region's about and i want to show you what you missed he said because you made this mistake kadesh now moses is about to pass off the scene and this is what i'm preaching tonight these people look these people just cost moses the promised land he was on his way to the promised land they just cost him the promised land moses was so mad at them that when he got to the rock he didn't speak to it he hit the rock you know the story bam and god sent water and said i'm i'm going to provide for my people but you're going to pay for this one buddy and i can imagine moses saying but god they made me so angry god i wasn't angry because they they didn't listen to me i was angry because they didn't do what you asked them to do god i was standing in defense of you this is not about me having an ego austin moses was saying i tried to get them to do what you said maybe perhaps there was even a fear inside of moses and he said god i i i really just wanted them to do what you wanted wanted them to do and and i just i just got angry and and i hit the i smoked the rock and water came out and and sustained them and yet god here i can't even get into the promised land because of these people that's how you and i think but before moses leaves you hear me out before moses leaves verse 15 of that chapter he said okay god i'll go but i need to ask you something he said moses spake unto the lord saying verse 15 verse 16 let the lord the god of the spirits of all flesh set a man over the congregation which may go out before them which may go in before them which may lead them out which may bring them in that the congregation of the lord be not as sheep which have no shepherd his final request sir god send them a pastor because they're going to be lost without a pastor even when their behavior and their actions cost him the promised land even when he was sitting in his own despair and despond even when he was frustrated by what they had done and he looked out across there and saw the beauty of canaan and i know the amount of transfer i get all that stuff and i'm talking about in the present moses is looking out and saying my god all because of a rock all because there was some people that were stubborn and rebellious on the way down he said god i got one thing to ask of you i'm getting ready to check out it won't be long enough and i'll be up on top of nebo and you'll bury me where no man knows lord if i could just ask this one last thing all the prayers i've prayed all the things i've said all the things i've done god i've got one more thing to ask you will you give them a shepherd the final request of moses at abram is absolutely life-changing in my mind one of these days i don't care who you are you're going to come to that place in your life where you're going to have to trust your pastor or you're going to have to believe your brother you mark my words do you remember esau you remember laban and i'm done you you cook me up ryan remember esau is trying to restore his relationship with his brother and they find each other and they say they hug next and then elder they're like man i finally i've restored my relationship with my brother we have been separated we have been torn apart because of the vice of wicked and evil and and now i i've restored my relationship let's go let's go offer let's go to church we got our relationship back and esau looked at uh at jacob and he said come on let's go and esau takes off and jacob's like hey whoa whoa whoa whoa hey bud where you going the bible says that esau was a cunning man and a hunter of the field he was used to quickstep he was used to roughshod pastor pastor he was used to just running over people he was used to just doing what he wanted to do but jacob sent someone up to the front and said tell my brother i need to talk to him quickly they go and they get east on esau comes back he said what's up bub he said you're going to have to go on without me hey what do you mean without you we just restored our relationship no no no no i love you and there's nothing i want more in this world than to restore my relationship with you my brother but i got sheep right here and they are tender and some of them are with child and if i go running off out of here they're going to lose them i'm going to destroy this flock i'm going to kill some of these in the restoration of my relationship with you my brother i love you and i want to be your brother and i want us to have a great relationship but if you are telling me that i've got to choose you over my flock i'm here to tell you today we're going to have to maintain a relationship of separation [Music] because you're a shepherd you are a pastor now and the most important thing in your world beside your your precious wife and your sweet baby besides that because that's number one but the most important thing in your world is this church it's not you it's not what people think of you it's not what they say about you i i know my life many times and the way i preach the things i do and all of this i understand i start the tongues to wagging in drawing rooms all over pentecost but i made up my mind the most important thing to me is those people and i've got to produce for them a safe place where the water runs still where i'm watching them go into the prayer room at the church at four o'clock in the morning [Music] safe place where they bring their kids to an altar and their kids are sobbing and crying and reaching out to god and little four and five-year-olds are getting the holy ghost and speaking in tongues and they're saying pastor i want to be baptized i want to be baptized dude you can't even hardly speak english and you're talking in tongues and you want me to baptize you let's just wait let's just let's just get this thing good and solid inside of you because it's a safe place [Music] they're going to want you to do this and they're going to want you to do that and they're going to want you to participate in this and they're going to want you to be a part of that my church comes first listen to me you just ask that man that's her pastor you're gonna have to get to the place where your ego is small enough that you're gonna have to tell guys i'm sorry i can't come preach for you right now it's nice to go out and patch on the back and tell you how great your preaching is and all that it's fun i'm telling you it's fun to fly all over america and all over the oceans and it's fun to do that but it gets old trust me but you got to get to the place buddy i'd love to if i can come on thursday and friday i'll be there but if i can i can't miss this weekend now some of y'all might not live there i know what i'm talking about my church comes first my church comes first my church comes first i love my brother but my church comes first because i know if i push that church too fast elder if i push him too far if i don't do things right if i don't have a safe place if i'm dealing with troubled waters i know that i'm going to come back in one one week or two i'm going to have lost this family and i'm going to have lost that family who might have lost this young person am i have this rolliness creeping in because i'm out there just running with my brother i decided brother jeans i love everybody i really really do but i'm telling you my church comes first the rock church of morganton i really believe with everything that is within me the demands on this young man because he's a great preacher and he's a great proven evangelist and everybody wants a piece of him trust me because everybody wants that in their church i'm not telling you not to i'm just telling you're going to have to learn to pick and choose i really feel this in my spirit baby i got to go preach for these people a gentleman asked me to preach for him this week at conference and my wife was standing with me and i could just tell the you know margin tell and i said buddy i'll have to get back with you i need to check my schedule i wasn't i wasn't a cop-out i wanted to check my schedule and make sure i was available my wife and i walked away and she said baby you need to go preach for him preach that meeting for him she said i just feel sorry for him go preach that meeting for him i love my brother but billy i'm telling you right now if it's between my brother and my flock me and my brother can remain separated to the day jesus christ comes because i've got a responsibility to tend to that flock darryl that's my job would you stand with me in this place tonight [Music] would you lift your voice right now hi to god and magnify the king of kings and the lord of lords and magnify the great god of heaven come on come on come on come on come on mike and arlo god's got his hand on your son moses said god i've got to request of you lord before i get out of here you've got to show me you've got to give him a man god you got to make sure they got a shepherd god you've got to make sure they've got a pastor and god spoke to moses and he said go get joshua and put your hand on joshua and put your hand on him so that a little of thine honor goes on him in front of the people so that the people know that i've approved of you and i approve of him and you approve of him he said that will be the man [Music] that will be the man [Music] unlike most of our services i'm going to ask that we just deviate a moment as you continue playing brother jeans and the singers get ready and but i like for micah and nina and brother sister chapman would you could you make your way over here in front of this pulpit please [Music] buddy you got to make this a safe place where people want to come to church [Music] tonight we're going to officially install brother and sister narlock as the pastors of this church but it's in it's been in the mind of god for some time tonight with much going on there's going to be a lot of change happening in this congregation that's just the way it is i know pastor chapman did things this way but do yourself a favor and keep your foot out of your mouth by saying well this is how we did it before i appreciate that i respect that and i know he'll be kind and gracious but if this church is going to the next level you're going to have to make some changes you have to i'm about to go back to newport in the next couple of months and blow that place up because we're about to make some more changes and the future is going to be different and there's nothing you can do about altering the past it's already past it has been written down in the annals of history and it shall be edited by no man it's done i was handed this tonight when i went in the office it's representative of a mantle a mantle i'm going to give this mantle to brother and sister chapman if you'd step back there for me please and they handed the mantle to me and brother and sister and arnold would you please step right here in front of me step right there and i'm going to get ready to have brother and sister chapman do something here in a moment the bible tells us in the book of numbers on the day of passover it uses this these this terminology god said i want you to kill the passover and he uses this wording he said with all the rights are ites and ceremony i'm afraid in pentecost we've got them away from ceremony because we don't think it's it's anointed ordained of god baby dedications i love baby dedications i love weddings i preach my best stuff at weddings and i'm not even preaching i love it because there are important things that happen in rights for the force and ceremonies that's when you and i as a pastor get a chance to shine what we're doing tonight's a ceremony i get it but i promise you god's in it i really believe it i told brother chapman when he called me and said i think it's micah that's really what i'm thinking i said i'm good with that i feel it brother chapman to you and misty this evening your lives are about to change forever all the plans you thought you had have been interrupted by god strange lifting of the burden that has been taking place over months is now finding a home tonight it's lifting and what was once a 24-hour a day mind-numbing consumption will now just be another man's destiny it really is it hurts but it's the truth tonight your contact with the people of this church has got to change dramatically now i know the other elders may do other things but as your pastor i'm telling you what you've got to do i'm telling this church in front of them what's got to happen your relationship your your contact with them must change dramatically effectively now while your fingerprints can never be removed from this place you just can't you can't take them off they're here micah you can't take them off don't try to take them off you'll make a mistake if you do they can never be removed but your contact with them brother chapman sister chapter chapman must be removed that's it should they call you do not answer the phone if anybody got a problem with this this ain't no wedding where you speak now forever hold your peace just hush i'm talking if they call you do not answer their phone call if they text you do not respond should they inquire of you do not be found god is sending you somewhere else it hurts i know it hurts i get it but it's unfair to this man and this woman it's just totally unfair your commitment to this church has been absolute i've watched it no doubt your sacrifice misty and your sacrifice billy is without question your success is before us and while the memories can never be erased nor should they be erased the future belongs to another to micah and nina the heavy responsibility of getting this church to the next level is now yours it's yours you've got to build a place of continued safety you've been presented tonight with a great opportunity and there's going to be lots of challenges in front of you and believe me there are going to be all kinds of challenges but i want to i want to say something to you tonight don't ever allow your failure to meet those challenges to be left at the feet of billy and misty chapman from this night forward i've seen too many experiences where men have taken a church and after six months when they're not having the revival they want it's the previous guy's fault [Music] that can't be tonight you accepted god's call you accepted the responsibility to be here and what this man done men and women have done have left you an opportunity there will be challenges because you're going to pastor differently there will be but whatever you do don't call me and say you know i'd be i'd be running 700 if brother chapman wouldn't have done this don't do that that's not fair i'm just telling you what i i really feel i need to say tonight should be said at any time there's a pastoral installation there are five things this evening as i i finished that i'm gonna ask you to do tonight never blame the sheep because things are not happening like you want them to happen never number two never come to this pulpit ill prepared ever emergencies arise god will make a way but never be ill prepared number three always believe that god called you here even when it's nasty number four always love the unlovable because you're gonna run into them quicker than you think probably and number five and above all else make this a safe place when you come to this pulpit when you leave the service when you're in a prayer meeting make it a safe place that the people can feel safe right now i'm asking brother and sister chapman to take the mantle and to place it across your shoulders if they would very gently lay their hands on you i'd like for all of my my full-time evangelist and pastor friends to make their way up if you would please come on up mark if you're here come on come on robert if you would [Music] brother narlach come on up [Music] if you would brother morrison brother jeans brother copeland would you stand in front of them please and lay hands on them brother morrison brother james come on folks we're fixing to pray for this exchange all the rights and the ceremonies associated with great events in god's book need to be observed and this is one of them i'm praying for these precious precious people of god that this church would explode in revival nothing would make the chapmans happier than for this place to absolutely explode brethren would you lay your hands on them and pray for them right now in the name of jesus that's it [Music] hallelujah come on church pray with come on micah receive it buddy receive it buddy receive it [Music] come on god i've got one request of you lord before i get out of here you gotta tell me for a fact that you're gonna have somebody be a shepherd god if they don't have a pastor they're never going to make it they've got to have a shepherd i've got a final request for you an avid god and that is this please give them a shepherd [Music] come on church come on church let's pray man of god come on you know what it's like pastor [Music] [Music] let his ministry [Music] use them in the gifts of the spirit god a dying operation in the apostolic church and the gift of faith and the working of miracles god [Music] apostolic authority lord let him have apostolic authority god come on like a dog you can do it buddy you hear me [Music] come on church i need you to pray right now [Music] [Applause] come on god i got a final request [Music] they need a pastor i need a man of god come on let's pray right now in jesus name [Music] my big [Music] rob church your man of god has been installed the bible says that that happens by the laying on the hands of the presbytery god's anointing is in this place you're looking at decades perhaps even hundreds of years of successful ministry in this altar right now laying hands on your man of god and your woman of god i'm going to ask brethren if you would step aside with the church in morganton just make their way around their pastor tonight look at that buddy you're not by yourself you're gonna do this you're gonna do this you're gonna do this [Music] come on god give me a man come on rock church you got a man now pastor chapman said before i leave god there's got to be a man in place before i leave this place there's got to be a man that will shepherd this flop and so god has answered the prayer and so god has provided a shepherd and so god in his love has answered the prayer of a man and here we are [Music] hallelujah that's it lift your voice lift your voice [Music] in your yes lord in your name together we're better together we're better hallelujah hallelujah oh let a book of acts church [Music] hallelujah hallelujah hallelujah thank you lord for your presence thank you lord for your touch thank you for the anointing that breaks every the working of god's spirit it's in moments like this that we need to remember thank you lord for your presence thank [Music] hallelujah hallelujah hallelujah [Music] thank you jesus thank you jesus [Music] so [Music] [Applause] [Music] hallelujah hallelujah we want to invite pastor narlock to come and to close out this service tonight very special service and church rock church you can remain right where you are as pastor narlock comes to finish this portion of the service can we just lift our hands and thank the lord for what he's done here tonight he's good he's great he's powerful we thank you lord [Music] so [Music] somehow all the words that i had written down just fails to seem sufficient if there's one thing that i can say is that god is good god is good and if there's something else i can say and i can say this a million directions everywhere i turn i can say this word but specifically i want to say to the people that are standing before me today thank you for receiving us at the um when brother chapman pastor chapman broke the news to this church several weeks ago about what was coming about this time he had made mention that uh that there was a fear that he had prayed you know he prayed and he felt like there was gonna there was a fear inside me and nina about whether or not we would be received and i'm just being ultimately transparent today but from the day one that he announced i have gotten texts and calls from this body of believers that have outstretched their arms towards us and have said pastor we receive you and and whatever words ways that you felt it i just want to say today thank you for your reception i thank you today and uh i want to thank my pastor amen pastor narlock who also has to change hats to be my father from time to time i want to thank him for being my man of god everything that i am is uh largely in part to my parents and i appreciate them and i honor them today and i honor all my elders in this place today brother daryl thrasher the mark copeland for the robert jeans also for being there for me i also want to say thank you to brother erskine today for preaching to me [Music] it's a message that i will have to listen to time and time again [Music] about a hundred years ago there was a um it was a town called flagstaff maine i think it was flagstaff maine and it was in a valley adjoining a river not too far away and the state of maine looked at it and they said this valley would be a perfect place to flood and for the sake of producing power for our state and making it a dam there so we can produce power and so they notified the the valley people the flagstaff maine and they said you have about eight months time to pack up your bags and we'll pay for it all we'll pay for your new home but you're leaving your house because this valley is going to be flooded they gave them a tick tock of time if they didn't sell out then they were forced out and it says that in that eighth month or however time much time they had that that city slowly began to lose its value in property windows that were broken by accident no longer got fixed gardens that grew weeds they no longer picked out the weeds potholes were never filled slowly surely the city began to gone further and further into seed and was overrun and lost its value it just looked like a ghost town that had been completely destroyed by the time the last person moved out before the floods ever came why simply because they had no hope so why fix a window why pull up weeds if it's just going to be flooded in six months four months three months and the statement went like this where there is no hope there is no faith in the present and i've come to tell this church today because the gospel is still going to be preached in this church we still have hope i've come to tell you amen you don't have to walk in here and wonder if the windows are worth fixing and if having lifting up our hands is still worth lifting and shouting and outreaching and pulling them back oh come on if pulling drug addicts in here is still i've come to tell you it's still worth doing it's still worth having revival it's still worth having a move of god let's have revival we still have hope we still have hope we have faith for the future i still believe in acts 2 38 peter said unto them repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of jesus christ for the remission of your sins and ye shall receive the gift of the holy ghost i've come to tell you the message is not changing the hope is not changing hero israel the lord our god is one lord i've come to tell you the message it's not changing there's still hope in the room there's still gospel in the room they're still hallelujah thank you jesus i appreciate this church let's have revival anybody with me today let's have revival we're not interested in backing up we're not interested in diverting we're not interested in turning the steering wheel a different direction let's keep on being separated let's keep on preaching the gospel let's keep on hallelujah baptizing people in jesus name watching god fill them up with the holy ghost hallelujah i wonder if we can go ahead and get our dancing shoes on for sunday morning you might as well time on time because you're going to go ahead and amen your how much energy you're going to put in that service it's going to be easier to kick them off time on tight let's have revival [Applause] [Music] let's have revival pastor chapman i love you [Music] i had a zyto scam done a few weeks ago or about a week ago and sister copeland is a holistic profession now she has her own office and she had me i don't know if it's magic or whatever but she had me put my hand on something and began to read all the stuff in my body and stuff that were out of range and one of the top things was grief and i was like i just don't i feel like i got over some family deaths in my family a long time ago i'm a typically a jovial guy i don't feel like i'm just weighed down with grief and it just began to hit me ever since amen we begin to make this transition i've wept and cried because of the sacrifice that i knew you guys would make i have kids one of those things i've i've had to cry and weep about i'll still continue but i've come to tell you i don't i had to transition my mind that i weep not for mourning and this for the sake of mourning about a weep because thank you lord that we're in the will of god i hate you lord that we're in the will of god thank you lord there's so many things that i could say today but one thing i do want to say is i read this verse a little bit ago and it stuck out to me so much first corinthians four verse one the one first verse says let a man sow account of us as of the ministers of christ and stewards of the mysteries of god that word amen right there if i can remember right the word for minister in that verse is hupartes and it simply means an underrower he said i am counted as an underrower of the mysteries of god what image did he have in mind when he was saying that well under rovers were people that were in these huge ships they they weren't above the ground they didn't always see where they were going but they knew how to take directions and just row that way sometimes we're stewards or underrowers of the mysteries of god things that we don't understand always but i'm thankful that no matter where the king says for us to go we're willing to go i had somebody tell me recently amen and somebody in this place today may feel like me and nina have given up much and we we it's not it's not hard to sell a fifth wheel not when you're moving into a house praise god it's not hard my sacrifice i feel has been minimum compared to the sacrifice that they're giving to do what they're doing and i want to let you know i honor you today and we will continue as a church through this church to bless gastonia okay [Music] because we're not we're working together for the kingdom of god everybody all right with that let's work together for the kingdom of god let's support one another honor you today and your wonderful family sister chapman if you're anything like my wife this has been a ride this has been a ride i honor sister misty chapman today we love you so much thank you for the sacrifice thank you for your vision for the kingdom of god my brother trey there he is brother victor these precious ministers of the lord i honor you today you're already behind your dab 110 i know that but i want to let you know thank you let's work together for the kingdom of god and to those precious other babies sophie charlotte and bo they may not understand everything that's transpiring maybe they do but i love you guys amen know that we love you today and this church we love the chapmans we love the chaplains we love the chaplains [Applause] and i wonder if we can bow our heads today and just thank the lord for everything that's going on thank you jesus for everything you've done i love you today jesus i love you lord [Music] i love you lord thank you lord [Music] there's an old chinese proverb that says a rolling stone gathers no moss so let's not gather any moss the rock church let's move on let's move forward let's build the kingdom of god let's keep on moving let's keep on moving looking forward to this sunday morning amen i asked pastor copeland he had an opportunity and because he's so hard to get i figured while he was here this weekend we might as well go ahead and make the getting good and we're going to have him minister this as an extension of what is happening tonight so it's still we're just going to make it a celebration and i want him to minister from his heart so come expecting the sunday morning at 10 a.m amen also at 6 30 amen sunday night bring on your praying shoes let's have pre-service prayer let's make it big let's love god thank you to all of our guests ministry we have
