hey it's great to see you if you want to learn more about riding a trike motorcycle in this part 2 Series of how to ride a trike motorcycle I will show you how and as always let's ride [Music] in this video I will talk about the things that you must do to increase your safety and make your ride more enjoyable so let's get started you in the road that's what it comes down to when you ride the road conditions the traffic the weather can always change at any time you have to constantly be aware of a lot of things daydreaming while riding is not a good idea things happen fast out there and you must be ready to react accordingly the C system here is a good reminder for writing safely in traffic search around you for potential hazards evaluate any potential hazards such as turning cars railroad tracks Etc and execute the proper action in a timely manner the sea is a mental system for safe motorcycling use it effectively and you'll cover many safer and happy miles in your trike motorcycle increasing your visibility to others what is the most common excuse drivers give when they turn in front of a motorcycle gee officer I didn't see him it's a sad truth we're not as big as Mack Trucks well maybe not all of us but we are visible however two often motorists don't see us because they're not looking for motorcycles they're looking for the big things trucks SUVs trains buses wear bright clothing and use reflective material you have to attract their attention hey I'm here hello use lights bright colors sound and visuals to get their attention the biggest thing that a following driver usually sees is your back so make it stand out always signal your intentions change lanes and make turns using your turn signals you want to make sure that the people around you know exactly what you're about to do and it helps when you use the turn signals to use your hand and arm signals as well remember to cancel your signal when you completed your maneuver otherwise the traffic behind you they don't know if you're going to turn you're going to stop you're going to keep going and you may confuse them creating more trouble for yourself self don't be shy about using your horns in some situations if drivers are dosing distracted or it seems like they're going to make an unthinkable maneuver give them a short beep get their attention you want to make them aware of what you are doing position your trike where it can be seen don't put yourself behind a large truck or get into somebody's blind spot where they can't see you remember look in their side mirror for the driver and if you can see them they should be able to see you once you can't see them you're in their blind spot get out there take up the whole Lane make yourself visible one of the strategies to pretend that you're invisible ride that way and you'll be safer if you pretend that other drivers can't see you you will be hyper aware of your situation and you'll be constantly looking for those hazards helping you see others the other half of the visibility battle is being alert and seeing everything around you don't get fixated by that sexy Corvette writing by you or go rubbernecking at a crash site look ahead look to the side look in your mirrors look behind you do that hair check look way ahead of you at least 10 seconds so you can anticipate anything that may be happening up there that's going to affect your writing anticipate the uncoming left turning vehicle in front of you The Reckless knucklehead coming up behind you the car poking his nose from a driveway the guy beside and a little bit behind you that is not paying attention never ever let your eyes get fixed on one object keep looking around you at all times it's one thing to see and it's another to be able to react to anything that happens no tailgating when you're riding try to keep a two second gap between you and the vehicle in front of you myself I always keep three seconds older slow reflexes so I have to be able to respond accordingly that's just me for example if the car in front of you goes by a fixed object such as a sign or a post count one thousand two thousand three thousand whatever however many seconds you need to get behind that vehicle and keep that distance if you pass that or sign before your two seconds you're too close increase your distance obviously in bad weather you need to increase that even more and slow your speed and don't count too fast don't go one thousand two thousand three thousand like we used to do in in our street football right trying to get to the quarterback no don't do that and it's smart to increase your distance and reduce your speed in bad weather if the visibility is bad increase the distance where roads obviously your braking is going to take a lot longer so increase your distance reduce your speed for your own safety question of the day what techniques do you use to increase your versatility to others comment below and share with this community so we can learn from you as well one thing that I will ask you is share this video with like-minded folks right they want to learn just as much if they're writing tracks out there share with them show them this video and a lot of these safety tips also apply to two wheelers so go ahead and share the love intersections the majority of crashes involving in motorcycle and a car happening at intersections usually where they a left turning vehicle turning in front of that motorcyclist although you may be slightly larger than a two-wheel motorcycle it's still something to be aware of when you're riding your three-wheeler any intersection is potentially hazardous where there has stoplights stop sign or no signs whatsoever and watch out for vehicles backing out of alleys or driveways always check for traffic coming from the side left or right check the traffic behind you to make sure that knucklehead that is distracted is not going to come up your tailpipe passing other vehicles the technique for passing another vehicle on a motorcycle are the same if you're driving a car first before passing you should be two or more seconds behind the vehicle you're about to pass and position yourself on the left hand side of your lane from this position you want to check the road ahead to make sure that there are no oncoming traffic and that you can safely pass this vehicle don't even think about overtaking a vehicle in a corner or in a section if you have room ahead to make your pass look in your rearing mirrors make sure there's nobody coming up behind you and trying to pass you turn your signal on and look over your shoulder do that head check you have to physically do it to make sure that there's nobody in your blind spot the head check is very essential for your safety everything clear go ahead and make your move do not cry too close to the vehicle that you're passing you want to make sure that you are able to react if they do something unexpected get by this vehicle as quickly as you can without exceeding the speed limit you may want to downshift one gear to accelerate more quickly before returning to your original Lane make sure you turn on that turn signal and do the head check make sure that car is not coming up behind you and preventing you from moving over return to your lane cancel your signal and continue your ride and like I said before continue to see search evaluate execute night writing sometimes you'll have to ride at night after all it is dark 50 of the time dusk is a really bad time everything looks great everything has the same color it starts to distinguish you know vehicles from the road from anything else unless you have some type of backlighting or anything like that be especially careful with the sun very low in the Horizon usually it is advisable to slow down when you're riding at night especially when you're writing some sort of twist and Winding Road use your own headlight as well as the lights of all the vehicles to help you see the road ahead it is more difficult to see the patch of sand or gravel on the road at night the distance between you and the car in front of you is very important at night you need to increase that distance to be able to react wear a clear face shield without scratches a scratch Face shoe can create light refractions that can confuse you two headlights can look like four the same thing applies for writing glasses if you have scratch writing glasses they're going to create that light refraction it's going to confuse you so wear clear ones one of the biggest road hazards for you at night are people that have been drinking be especially alert for vehicles doing some odd things on the road swerving right in the center line going too slow excessive braking give these people a lot of room it's better to be behind them than in front of them obviously if you found value in this video let me know in the comments below also smash that like button and hit
