ken Russ muscles in with a set of three week old twin goats one is thriving but the others wasting away he was losing weight doesn't want to eat hello how you doing he just kind of wanders around real slow what is going on he's getting real bad and I mean you pick him up and he's like a rack of Bones diarrhea no constipated more than anything that's putting him inside none of the vets down by where we live know anything about goats and dr. pols supposed to be the best in the area so we brought him up here okay so this was the little one yeah that was the little one he's now about two two and a half pounds bigger than the other one ah spunky little know you are seven pounds and he's drinking and eating good and no diarrhea no diarrhea okay then we go get this one he's man he is the one that has a problem yeah okay and he is only 5 pounds yeah 2 pounds difference there's no muscle on him no fat on him the thing to do is take a fecal sample and see what but you find ok I'm gonna check this underneath the microscope have receipt I'll see what I can find at this age which is about three weeks we could see worms but most likely we see coccidia in just a matter of seconds dr. pol confirms his suspicions see that thing there that's a coccidia coccidia is a one-celled parasite that can live in the soil for years oh yeah he's loaded with it then is ingested and buries itself in the wall of the gut so the intestines don't absorb any food ever heard of coccidia yes if not caught and treated quickly enough coccidia can kill a baby goat right in the middle that is a coccidia and there's no anymore but this was the clearest one that I found mm-hmm they eat where they poop are they prepared to eat whatever comes first so he picked up the city out of the stool of mom come here although only one goat shows symptoms of the infestation dr. pol is treating both as a precautionary measure he is kidding at this moment one cc twice a day ten days and the other one gets one and a half Krusty seven pounds yeah hope it in time again and then the gut that regenerates itself and they can become big healthy goats Thanks all right glad to help you I'm very glad that we found out because uh I don't like seeing any animal like that suffer trying to and trying to figure out what's going on I'm happy that we brought him and got it figured out you
