that live just i don't know maybe 10 miles from here in the beautiful quaint little ohio town of lithopolis and they were on the street sidewalk in a beautiful quaint little town joanie and i used to take our children and every friday we had no some of you will remember custom vans anybody remember customized vans well they were kind of like a mini motorhome you know they had a big raised roof on them and they had a refrigerator and they even had a little place you could warm things up and so forth and we would just load the kids up and we would especially in the fall we would just say all right i'm turning out of my driveway after that we are going anywhere but on a four-lane road or a highway and we are just going to drive till we get lost and ohio is one of the most perfect states in the whole union to do that because you really can't go more than about 25 miles until you run into a beautiful quaint you know early 1900s late 1800s settled a little settlement or village that has not become a city yet and they're all very unique you know they have they have grinding mills where they make ice cream and all sorts of things you just run into them you know well lightopolis is kind of that kind of little town and uh pickerington and canal winchester kind of not so much anymore but lifopolis has has still remained quaint and uh they were just walking two-year-old girl and took her to heaven and you know what i don't i don't know if she'd have made it to 12 anyway because i don't know from what i see and where i sit and what i've known and what i read in god's word jesus may come before we get out of this room now now that's where we're headed i would think that every person even in the dead dog days this summer would not be on their phone right now but would be jumping every square inch of air in half a million square feet of facilities under one roof i imagine some of you have had some air conditioning problems over the summer pastor jay told me the other day he's i said where's your wife and that brand new baby he said they left town i said did they leave you he said no they left the heat i said what's wrong he said my air conditioner unit went out and that baby just a few months old and mother trying to take care of it so they headed to mama's house out of state and left him here in the 85 degree nights and 100 humidity so we prayed for him to get his hvac fixed you know hvac doesn't mean much unless of course it's your hvac right [Applause] i said i preach it this way peace don't mean much your bible calls them lentils but actually bees shema was a pea farmer and every year the philistines would come and rape and ravage and reap his harvest till one day shamma got tired of it stuck his hole in the ground i'm talking about when a whole world and a coke was a coke all right ah elder shermer liked that he stood at the edge of his pee patch stuck his hole in the ground and pointed his finger at an entire army of philistines did you ever feel question do you trust him because if you can't trust him in the small things if you can't trust him with mammon money what do you trust him with trust him today trust him trust and obey remember that one for there's no other way you don't have to play it to be happy in jesus but just trust and obey that's all i've done since i'm 80 years old just trust and obey people say how do you do this how do you i don't know i just trust and i obey that's it i trust and obey i'm so glad i learned to trust him just to take him at his word just to lean upon his promise just to know the save the lord do you you trusting who are you believing the tithe is about you referencing and honoring god's directive and to place something in god's hand for him to sanctify the actual translation in malachi says that that came from the world where did your money come from it was at a crap table last week you don't know where it came from that's why you need to get out of debt you realize that whoever runs the bank where you have your mortgage that's who you're in a covenant with whoever's got the note on your car you're in a covenant with them if you don't believe it don't make a payment you'll find out that's comes from that system and god said when they tithe i will destroy all of that spirit of the world off of the rest of their money the tithe is given for destruction and if you've got some stuff you you spray you shake it up and your mom gets mad when you spray it in your mouth and put it back in the fridge yeah one of those you need some pie tins or some paper plates and some bowls if you'd like just a couple and if you want to race against us you know you can do that or if you want to get your whole family involved in it you can have a challenge against your whole family super excited alright so go around your house gather up everything that you may need and we will get started all right clubhousers you know what time it is it's game time all right so what i want you guys to do is get your pie tins your plates your cool whip your gummy bears all of the things that you need because you guys will have 45 seconds okay to get as many gummy bears from the pie tin to your plate and make some noise for mr sam all right so as you guys can see today's double dog dare challenge got really messy and it's kind of like the story that we're gonna talk about today when you have sin in your life your life can get crazy messy just like their faces got all right but before we get into all of that i want you guys to get up on your feet and give god some is the praise yeah come on [Music] [Music] resurrection oh the separation [Music] and restore anything that he wants to listen just ask the man come on [Music] is [Music] oh [Music] is [Applause] he's already [Music] [Applause] [Music] all right clubhousers welcome back so earlier we had a super messy double dog dare challenge right mr sam so sam needed a minute to get cleaned up but he is all ready so what we're going to do is we're going to go into our lesson and today we're going to learn about how we can obey god by choosing not to sin we all know that sin entered the world when adam and eve decided not to obey god okay we all know that that's how that happened and ever since then the bible tells us that people were born with sin that means i'm a sinner you're a center you're a sinner we're all a sinner but we can choose if we want to obey god or not and so today's big idea is we can obey god by turning away from sin and the story comes from genesis 18 16 through 21 and also we're going to use chapter 19 verses 1 through 3 and verses 12 through 26 we're going to kind of hop around the story because there are just certain key parts of the story that we want to talk about today and it's all about you know god saving lot and his family from sodom and gomorrah when god decided to destroy that city so now jumping over to genesis 19. that evening the two angels came to the entrance of the city of sodom lot was sitting there and when he saw them he stood up to meet them then he welcomed them and bowed with his face to the ground my lords he said come to my home to wash your feet and be my guests for the night you may then get up early in the morning and be on your way again oh no they replied we'll just spend the night out here in the city square but lot insisted so at last they went home with him lot prepared a feast for them complete with fresh bread made without yeast and they ate so jumping down to verse 12 now meanwhile the angels question lot do you have other relatives here in the city they asked get them out of this place your sons-in-laws your sons your daughters or anyone else for we are about to destroy this city completely the outcry against this place is so great it has reached the lord and he has sent us to destroy it so lot rushed out to tell his daughter's fiances quick get out of the city the lord is about to destroy it but the young man thought he was only joking at dawn the next morning the angels became insistent hurry they said to lock take your wife and your two daughters who are here get out right now or you will be swept away in the destruction of the city when lot still hesitated the angel seized his hand and the hands of his wife and two daughters and rushed them to safety outside the city for the lord was merciful when they were safely out of the city one of the angels ordered run for your lives and don't look back or stop anywhere in the valley escape to the mountains or you will be swept away oh no my lord lot begged you have been so gracious to me and saved my life and you have shown such great kindness but i cannot go to the mountains disaster would catch up to me there and i would soon die see there is a small village nearby please let me go there instead don't you see how small it is then my life will be saved alright the angel said i will grant your request i will not destroy the little village but hurry escape to it for i can do nothing until you arrive there lot reached the village just as the sun was rising over the horizon then the lord rained down fire and burning sulfur from the sky on sodom and gomorrah he utterly destroyed them along with their other cities and villages of the plane wiping out all the people and every bit of vegetation but lot's wife looked back as she was following behind him and she turned into a pillar of salt okay so we just read the story of law and how abraham pleaded with god to save the city if there were at least 40 people that were righteous 30 people that were righteous 20 people 10 people but as we read in the story there weren't even 10 righteous people left in that city i know right lot was basically the only one and his behavior was kind of still questionable you know so when we think about sin and turning from sin sin looks good right yeah it does the devil knows how to come at us so we have a little demonstration we're gonna do for you guys so look we got chocolate sauce who loves chocolate sauce i love chocolate sauce so sam dip your hand in that chocolate sauce oh let it drip a little okay that's messy so sticky and messy don't get it on my carpet now all right super super messy okay that's kind of like sin you want to dive right in right you want to have fun you want to do what your parents say not to do you want to lie you want to cheat you want to steal sometimes but it's just like this messy mess right now dip your hand in that fruity pebbles fruity pebbles are delicious but now look at that mess you've got on your hands shake it off a little bit right hold that up so they can see at home show them the front of your hand look at that sin sticks to our life just like these fruity pebbles and chocolate sauce but if we do what the scriptures say and we obey god and turn away from sin what happens you get lost you get washed and we do that by repentance we have to ask the lord for forgiveness you can't get rid of that mess by yourself can you no i mean it's it's pretty stuck on there yeah right so what you have to do is you have to ask for help you have to ask for repentance you have to ask for forgiveness you know and you do that and dip your hand down here in this water that this water is going to act like the holy spirit the holy spirit will come down and cleanse us as long as you ask for it okay you can't do it by yourself right right get it down in there get it nice and clean it might not be perfect so let's see how your hand looks now it's not perfect but it came off most of it came off you know just like what the bible said we're all sinners but with god's help if we choose to turn away from sin the holy spirit can come down and help us and make us squeaky clean we gotta keep dipping we gotta keep dipping that's right mr sam you gotta keep dipping so do what lot did turn away from sin unfortunately lot's wife she chose not to turn away from sin okay she looked back and what happened was a really bad thing what did she do what happened she turned into a pillar of salt right and that happened because she chose to disobey god's instructions god is very specific on what we're supposed to do and not do all we have to do is read it and listen to him read the bible turn completely away from sin because if we're too busy looking back like lot's wife looking back at the sinful city they were coming from that sinful stuff will stick to you just like all that yucky stuff stuck to mr sam all right you don't want the yucky stuff from your past sticking to you and sticking around forever all right be like this bucket of water repent ask the holy spirit to come live inside of you and when you that happens all that sin can be washed away all right so you guys your challenge for this week is go out and do something nice for someone clean up someone else's mess is basically what i'm saying to do all right right isn't that a good challenge because sometimes you see people struggling and all they need is a helping hand so do it without being asked mr sam made a mess in my office earlier from that game i went and cleaned up after him and that's okay it's something nice to do for someone and they will appreciate it all right clubhousers so be like lot turn away from sin completely okay so until next time we'll see y'all later all right clubhouser so
