Outward Definitive Edition : Spear Combat Guide

hello everyone and welcome to my special outward melee combat guide featuring the spear in my general melee combat guide i have mentioned that the spear was probably one of the best weapons if not the best for beginner players it has a very distinct play style that make it pretty easy to overcome most obstacles but it is also very different to most melee weapons in this video i will try to teach you how to properly use your spear spears might not seem like a very good idea at first the damage is decent same as their attack speed their impact damage is very low for a two-handed weapon however they have an advantage but does not show in the stats reach spears are long and all the gameplay of the spear is about staying far enough to hit your enemies while being out of their reach at the same time the spear combos are pretty simple three normal hits just make you slightly move forward one normal hit and one special allow you to retreat safely and two normal hits and one special is your offensive combo the one special combo allows you to extend your reach even more for a powerful thrust the spear's unique skill is simeon's gum bit you can get it for free from burak if you talk to him before leaving cyazo and you have a spear equipped or you can buy it later to simeon the king of levant the spear is one of a few melee weapons that has a parry skill as default allowing it for the very powerful triplet parry combo you can get a decent spear by picking up a pitchfork behind this house but the fishing harpoon is also considered a spear to play the spear effectively you need to maintain some distance between you and your enemy at all time try to fight in open spaces where you can walk and roll backwards to maintain a safe distance the ideal thing is to stay close enough not to trigger the enemy's charge attack but far enough for them to lower their guards while they move forward if your spear is long enough you can freely attack enemies even those who have long weapons like holders most of the time you can use normal attacks to poke enemies but if you need a little bit more space you should use the special attack to extend your reach and hit enemies from an even bigger distance if you are good at maintaining this safe distance you will only need to block an enemy's charge attack or against some long reach enemies in the sphere gameplay rolls are mainly used to reposition yourself after your hits if you entered the enemy's reach i'll leave you with some gameplay so you can see it in action [Music] [Music] a good spear is a long spear fall damage is always an interesting thing i would recommend some less damaging but longer spears for beginners the gold ledge sphere is pretty easy to obtain has some decent damage and a good reach you will have to travel to the hallowed march to craft this one i personally love the marble spear since it has a very long reach and looks incredible but it is unfortunately not very easy to obtain as it only drops from a murka forest ornate chest who can be bought sometimes from the weaponsmith in hermethan the queen of spears is definitely the old legion spear not so easy to obtain but it is the longest spear of all and it is made decent by its enchantment war memento the horror spear can also be obtained very early in the game and has some good damage though it i think it's a little bit short shin shots has shown how to easily get this one so a link to his video is in the description her spear is a pretty underestimated weapon in general but throughout history she has definitely been the queen of battlefields and it was easy to produce and to use our word follow the same rules it is very strong and requires very little training to use properly i hope you found this guide useful if you did do not hesitate to subscribe as more outward guides are coming i'll see you all bye you
