[Music] yes [Music] [Music] do hey guitar friends john here with another guitar lesson today we're going to look at a really cool concept of outside playing we're playing in a key of b flat and we're playing over the chord b flat 7 flat 10. [Music] and we can use the b flat minor pentatonic scale and an easy way of outside playing is moving a half step up to b and then moving back down to home b flat the key [Music] it sounds really cool but now we're going to use a different concept we're moving up a major third interval so from b flat we're going to go to d and then another major third interval to f sharp then another major third interval b flat back home back in the key of b flat and we're gonna apply it for now to the pentatonic the minor pentatonic scale it's gonna sound like this so b flat minor pentatonic d minor pentatonic f sharp minor pentatonic [Music] and back to b flat minor pentatonic that still doesn't sound really cool we're going to take a little motive i'm going to play it in one position the first motive is this b flat c d flat f and then we're gonna use it in major third intervals and play it in one position then it's gonna sound like this to f sharp to d back to b flat the whole thing goes like this that's really cool lick we're gonna look at another lick and we're gonna use another motif that sounds like this [Music] again it's in the key of b flat b flat minor pentatonic scale and we're going to move it in major third intervals so b flat d f sharp back to b flat and again we're gonna try to play it in one position [Music] and then we're back home in b flat [Music] [Applause] the last motif we're going to use is this one again it's in the b flat minor pentatonic scale and we're going to move it a major third interval so b flat minor pentatonic f sharp minor pentatonic d minor pentatonic [Music] back to b flat [Music] if you play this over the backing track you'll notice it sounds really cool even if you just use the pentatonic scale and use this concept you're going to sound really hip and i hope you'll enjoy it if you have any other questions um just leave a comment or go to jtcguitar.com i have several master classes about outside playing i'll leave link below subscribe to this channel i'll make some more lessons as well so i hope to see you soon thanks for watching bye
