welcome to Sacramento koi's unboxing of the koi we purchased on October 2022 buying trip to Japan this trip was by far the best buying trip to Japan that we've ever experienced due to the ongoing code pandemic Japan has been close to All Foreign Travelers into the country for the previous two years this made it very hard for both the Breeders to sell their koi and also for the dealers to purchase them so when dealer starts showing up at the British facilities again it was a really fun atmosphere for everyone so at this point we'd like to invite you to sit back relax and enjoy the unboxing of the 433 koi that we hand selected during this trip aokia Farms they've been doing business for over 70 years now and specialized in metallicoi and also goshikis they produce some very beautiful high-end fish that can sometimes be out of our price point however when we came to him this day he had just harvested a collection of two-year-old koi and after looking at them we just we knew we had to buy some so we ended up buying six boxes for a total of 37 coin from him to start off we have a Benny kikokuru great fish with some really incredibly white skin to it now we have a goshiki kuchaku what we find that breeders will take different fish and breed them together to create a unique koi exclusive to their koi farm so this right here the goshiki kuchaku this was the first time we've seen one of these and from what we can tell they're exclusive only to aokia Curry Farms so it's the same seems to be with this Benny Ginga we've seen gingas before but never a Benny Ginga with the orange on and red on it so something unique and stuff we thought our customers would love to see no no it's not yet you're right they're looking properly we start off here with the deuts yellow kujaku something unusual we'll find these with the orange but rarely with the yellow heyokia has actually end up having several of these so we bought a few of them here with a Benny kikokuru the black was so unique on this one now the black can get darker in harder water as it gets older but we thought this was strong enough and there wasn't any in the white we thought this would be a great one for us to pick up we also have here another Benny Ginga a little bit of a lighter pattern this would be great for somebody who has a little bit harder water they'll end up maturing more dark same thing with that goshiki a little bit of a lighter pattern would Age really nicely with somebody who has a little bit harder water I have here another Deutsche yellow kujaku who's excited here we have a darker goshiki this would be great for someone who has soft water because the black won't develop much more on it and I hear a tantra goshiki now you can see the contrast here between the lighter gray and the darker gray the first one the hope is that as that fish matures maybe it wins some harder water that that gray will end up coming darker enjoyed Sankey with a very cute little black button nose on it a couple times got here another deutsy look at jocka we love the pattern going on the spine that how even the scales were on that one it was very clean now we have here both a regular and also a ginrin goshiki so you can kind of see the difference between the two with just a little bit of reflectiveness in the goshiki and then we have a ginrin goshiki kojaku so once in that unique koi that signature piece he has with giving scales now also the hero have a key kikokuru a unique fish we see these a lot of times with a bright metallic orange but not very often with the yellow so we thought this would be a really fun fish for us to pick up also extra one start off here with a ginrin Benny Ginga I would love how each scale was so defined on this one that that fish knitting appearance across the back just give it a really clean scalation on the whole body now we have a coolman room this one we thought was really unique with that very clean distinction between the White and the black we have here now Benny kikokuru now that that separation between the black white and also the red was so clean on this one and the second one we love the pectoral fins how bright the black appeared in them it just made it feel really really special now it's interesting to see the kumunu and the kikokurus right next to each other they're very similar fish the main difference being that the kikokuru has metallic skin while the kumunu does not one final deuts yellow kujaku I think it's called oxygen deprivation has very little black on it so we're hoping that little moral come up as it gets older now I just love this koshiki the intensity of the red standing in the stark contrast against the gray is just beautiful to look at and finally a Yamato Nishiki which is a metallic skin less Sankey overall a fantastic collection and we're very happy with what we got from Aoki okoyo Farms to protect against the spread of any serious disease we stop between opening each separate Breeder's koi and sterilize all the nuts buckets and equipments we are using though this can be time consuming in today's world with all the diseases including the koi herpes virus we feel it will be foolish not to do so Now we move on to fukusawa koi Farms now this place may not seem like much but they produce some absolutely fantastic fish we really like this Farm because we can always count on finding something unusual from here that our customers just love [Music] first up we have a metallic tancho kohaku so once again this is something unusual we can find the tancho kohaku's put regularly but a metallic one with the skin itself is actually shiny a little more rare he also produces a couple of these beautiful goshikis if you notice that there's almost no black coming through the red something we really look for and finally a Benny kiokuru that has fantastic white look at the separation between the colors it's wonderful as we go through this video you'll notice that there's a variation in the number of fish in each of the boxes that we're opening and what it is is we try to fit as many fish into a single box as possible for shipping purposes so the more fish you see in a box the smaller they are for example in this box here these three fish range in its size from 18 to 20 inches now the Deutsche Tantra kajako here is absolutely stunning we loved how the scalation on the back was so uniform and even plus with how white the skin itself was it was a must buy for us we had mentioned earlier that we loved fukusawa koi Farms because he always produces something unusual and here's a great example of one a Deutsche toncho hair walking this is her first time actually finding one this size a few years ago we found one smaller different breeder but nothing that compares to this 19 inch female truly a really beautiful fish we also have a tancho kujaku which is wonderful scalation and a very beautiful goshiki too yeah and now we move on to a big girl this 25-inch female four-year-old songki was actually a pre-order from a customer who requested one from us and after finding this fish at fukusau koi Farms we sent a picture to the customer he absolutely fell in love with her gave us a thumbs up and so we were able to bring her home for the customer I mean look at a truly wonderful adorable face the nice stripes and fins but also really great even distribution of the plaque throughout the body truly just a fun fish to look at it and now we have a 23 inch three-year-old female asagi we thought this fish was fantastic with the how clean the netting was on the Crosshair back just that wonderful classic fishnet pattern through the back in the blue plus the face was very unique with the little bit of red coming across the eyes and the nose we had a customer who asked for a special asagi and we thought this one would fit their build perfectly additionally we have a toncho sanki now may not look like a Sankey at this moment but if look closely you'll see very faint bits of immature black that are about to come to the surface hopefully the next year or so oh bringing the bag down and having and then Alexander run the net yeah that's a good idea and now check out this beauty we can have a 23 inch three-year-old igoromo we thought this fish has had an absolutely beautiful pattern with that nice with that nice spot on his forehead no it's not perfectly circled we actually like the shape of it plus a nice evening escalations down his whole body we have here also a ginrin chagoy fantastic strong General escalation going the back has that wonderful metallic-y reflective disco ball feel to it yeah have become very popular amongst our customers mainly because the fact that they're known to be very friendly koi you can train them to come eat right out of your hand and they'll also encourage the rest of your pond to come eat out your handoff too so here we have both the ginu and chocolate and a standard chocoi you know so it can actually be a color difference between the two here we have that kind of the reddish copper color and also the more yellowy brass colored cut the bags and now we're on to our final box from fukusawakui from start this one with a hajiro and hajira was an all-black koi usually just a little bit of white on it and we'd like to see if you can find the fish with the white on the dorsal and pectoral fins and if possible with a tail fin it adds a little something extra to the fish so it's not just a solid black fish it has a little bit of interesting aspect to it as it swims around your pond have a little bit here we also have a ginrin tancho ochiba something very different also don't find these very often we love this giren scaly show on this it was nice and uniform very sparkly aspect to it and finally a tantric once again kajakus are one of the Specialties of fukusawakoi farms and when he does it right he does them right here we see the scalation going the back is a very nice clean uniform pattern and that's what you're looking for in a good kujaku koi firms has been in business now for 80 years and with around 90 mud ponds to grow out their koi it's no wonder they are one of our favorite places to buy from in fact each year we buy more fish from them than anywhere else this year we bought 30 boxes with a total of 95 koi one of the reasons we enjoy going to yamasan koi farm so much is the sheer variety of Kauai produces many breeders will produce two or three different types but yamasan produces dozens of different types among them are long fin koi he's one of the only places that we visit who actually produces long fins and as you'll see through the remainder of the unboxing of yamasan's fish he produces these long fins in many varieties here you see both deutschujaku shisui and longfin platinum ogons and here you also see a Deutsche shirobeko we don't get a huge call for bekos but we whenever we find them we try to pick them up because they are a unique fish here we have a couple of yamasan's three-year-old koi this is a 21-inch Deutsch harewaki and also a 19-inch deutschujaku the Deutsche fish or scales is actually one of this fish he does specialize in so we're gonna have quite a few variety of these deuts fish throughout the unboxing now this is a long Fin kikokuru and kikurus are always scaleless but this one particularly had this row of almost armor plating scales down its back which we really like plus the long fins add an extra layer of uniqueness to it that we liked come on guys we also have here a 19-inch ginrin Platinum ogon beautiful clean white on it now this is a long fin choa now the show doesn't have a lot of black on it so we consider a new style showa with a black that is there is really strong plus the cute little red button nose was just something we had to buy we also have here an asagi now in this one we liked how strong the orange was on it it was a unique pattern coming up across the gills with that little hoop on either side and crossed the nose also the orange fins makes it a really desirable pattern this is an 18 inch Deutsch harewaki very crisp clean white on the fish with a nice strong deep yellow and great separation with the two colors meet and here's a 21 inch tancho kohaku now if you notice the white isn't quite as strong as the harowaki but our hope is that it had just come in the mud Palm we purchased it and that in our good clean water here in the states it'll turn more white in the coming months now I just love this fish it's a 21 inch kikasui and when you look how how crisp and clean the white is on the fish along with the strongness of the orange the pattern was just so unique with that little zigzag on top and the spot right behind his tail we had a customer who had requested a nice kikasui and we thought this one would fit the bill perfectly for them too so we decided to go ahead and pick it up along with the showa too now we have here another 21 inch kikasui this one had this really fun checkerboard back and forth pattern going down the body plus that little racing stripe on its right pectoral fin just makes it adorable additionally here we have a tancho kikusui so same two fish one with just a tantra pattern and one with a regular pattern it's a really nice separation yeah here we have a 18 inch Deutsche kuchaku along with a large 22 inch Ken key at Suri now the kinky it's Siri you see here the the black is kind of a soft gray right now but the hope is that in the coming year or so that gray will turn a nice deep rich black and this is what we typically see happen with the fish coming in from Japan the black may be a little underdeveloped but it matures nicely in our water so now we have a 19-inch kikokuru along with the 21 inch kujaku now since black is the last color to develop on koi we like to buy the kikokurus a little on the light side with not a lot of black on it the hope is that as it grows up it matures more black will come up without overpowering and overtaking the entire fish so you sit on it with a nice balance of black and white on the fish to make sure yeah a little little thin on the contrast so now we have a box of six two-year-old koi and these koi are going to be around 15 inches each we have a couple of long fin ginrin heitsuri along with the kohaku a couple of long Fin shasuis and these shishuis had some really beautiful patterns that we just really liked something was unique about them and finally a ginrin surugoy as you can see we try to purchase a wide variety of koi in various price ranges in an effort to find something for everybody we want this to be a fun hobby for each of our customers you even if they don't have a lot of money to spend now we have here a 24 inch kujaku look how white the face is it's really makes it a beautiful example of what a kuchaku should look like we also have a 20 inch longfin orangiogon now we see the yellow and the white ogons very commonly but not the orange ones so we found this one with the long fins we thought very unique we know have a customer who'd love this this is a 22 inch male Deutsch kojaku along with a 19-inch female yamuki ogon now the kujaku was really unique we liked how symmetrical and even the scales were going on its spine we're hoping that once again that black will come a little more rich in the next year or so and the yamabuki had just a beautiful confirmation to her nice full body going all the way back here we have an 18 inch longfin ginrin heitsuri along with a 21 inch kinky at 30. we were impressed by the size of the kinky at Suri for being only three years old we also enjoyed how deep and Rich the black was on the heitsuri we thought both would be a great addition to someone's pond so this box is going to have a collection of seven coin in it they're a little smaller around 13 to 14 inches but that allows us to fit more in a box so we start off with the deutscharawaki metallic showa a deuts yamabukyogon a deutz platinum ogon than a regular ginrin Platinum ogon and finally a long thin heitsuri now we have a 19 inch ginrin ochiba now Chiba name roughly translates as Fallen Leaf this was supposed to be a a dead Fallen Leaf on gray water so we thought this was a really unique example with these few spots right down its back we also have a 23 inch kohaku this was the big girl here and we just loved how crisp the white was and we also thought The the pattern going down its back was very unique and very desirable so now we're gonna have another collection of six koi in this box start off with a yellow kuchaku and then also have a long fin Platinum Logan and here's a deutz Metallica Chiba this is a little bit more of a rare fish you don't find them very often we then have another longfin Platinum ogun a long fin kujaku male and female and finally a kohaku with just the most adorable button nose on it so this collection we're going to start off with a nice kind of reddish copper color chagoy kohaku a Deutsche kojaku ginrin shiratsuri we have a metallic ochibo this is another one of those kind of more rare ones we liked how the pectoral fins matched on both sides of it gives it a nice symmetry feel to the fish and finally a kohaku okay um so we're starting this collection of six with a kohaku now we have a toncho kohaku longfin gin Rin heitsuri Platinum ogon shiryatsuri here we have again shirt sorry so metallic skinned version of the first one we also have a toncho showa now this toncho show is going to be a little unique because not a lot of black is shown right now so it's kind of a project fish it's gonna really look good in about two or three years from now when all that black comes to the surface here we have a 20 inch longfin ginrin Platinum ogon along with a 21-inch Deutsche kujaku now you notice there's a little bit of damage on the dorsal fin of the ogon here and this is not too uncommon to see when we open up a box after all the fish has been in that box now for nearly 24 hours which can be extremely stressful on them however there's nothing to worry about and it should heal up on its own in no time starting off this box with a ginrin tancho showa just saw this one was adorable and super bright getron scales on it we also have here a long fin shasui this one we really thought was great how symmetrical it was both the back the face and also pectoral fins match really nicely on both left and right I also have a kikusui adoit sarawaki kohaku and finally a deutz platinum ogon stirring this box off with a kin matsuba so this is a metallic orange with each scale having a flake of black in it we then also have a kohaku gin shiryatsuri a long fin ginrin Platinum ogun long Fin shasui and finally a kinky utsuri he's got a little bit of a bang right here on the other side this here is a 20-inch ginrin ochiba along with a 19-inch tancho ochiva now in the genre no chibawitis liked how the pectoral fins matched but also the ginrin scalation forms almost Rose as the guinea in all faces the same direction as it goes down the fish's back and this is very desirable you'd really like to see this on your on the ginrin fish next up we have an 18 inch deutz hochiba along with a 20 inch gin shiroyutsuri now this is going to be that silver or metallic skin shirazuri so a little bit different than our normal shirt series although the black may not be super defined right now as it ages in our water the black should become more prominent now this box has two beauties in it I really love this first fish the igoromo absolutely stunning beautiful white head good strong pattern going through the body we actually had a customer who pre-ordered one of these fish so this one was spoken for before we even made it back to the States we also have a very super unusual one a long fin metallic goshiki I haven't seen one of these before so we thought hey this is a fun fish I'm sure we'd have a customer who'd be super excited to have this fish in their pond now we have a ginrin bennigoi along with a ginrin heitsuri now that he had sir we thought the pectoral fins just made this fish they're very flashy and just a unique look with that a little bit of white at the tips now both fish in this box are going to be 21 inches long we start with a metallic goshiki it's extremely unusual don't seem these very often and we just thought the neon color on the forehead was very interesting we like that the igoromo has a absolutely wonderful confirmation and a very beautiful pattern to it this was a pre-order yeah we have here a 20 inch Deutsche ochiba and also a 24 inch long fin metallic AKA matsuba this fish was unique in that we had a customer who actually requested one of these and during our pre-order and so we were very fortunate to find one and we think the customers can be very happy with it here we have three 17 to 18 inch yamabuki ogons now we always recommend that each Pawn have at least one all yellow fish in it it helps break out the monotony of the red white and black most commonly seen in koi it just adds a little extra bit of color a little pop in your pond that can really take your Pawn to the next level and now going from the yellow guns we see here a orenji ogon so instead of the yellow once again that metallic orange solid colored fish we also have here a shiroyutsuri now on this Shiro we really liked how clean the face was the the face had a nice strong white no almond no cream to it but white plus the black pattern was very desirable and now we have our last box from yamasan koi farm and we have here a 24 inch tancho ochiba now unfortunately it looks like the pectoral fins got damaged between the time we purchased it and it got shipped to us so we're going to let this one heal for a little while before it goes up for sale and finally if you're looking for something unusual we got here a 19-inch Matsu karabaki so this is a scaled kikokuru between the interesting pattern the little bit of ginrin in its forehead and also the pectoral fins matching so perfectly this was just a special fish that we knew someone would just really enjoy foreign and now we're going to move on to your Genji koi farm only our second year buying from this Farm but we have been extremely impressed with the quality of the fish coming out of the mountain they've been to operation now for 50 years and these two brothers here are the second generation of breeders [Music] now we're going from buying 95 koi at the last breeder to buying only three from this breeder but they were three absolutely incredible fish we start off with this wonderful 22-inch tancho kohaku the quality of the white was just amazing on this fish and also the circle was beautiful we also now have a goshiki and it was interesting they called this almost a reverse goshiki in that normally where you see the red is how much gray would be on it and then the gray would be where the red is but here it's flip-flops so you see a lot more red they do gray something unique and different which we just fell in love with oh this was the one where the the pattern was it about the pattern it was rather gracefully during our pre-order we had a customer who requested a very special large ginrin bennigoy and we had found a few while we were there but once we got to the Genji koi farms and we saw this beauty we know this is the fish that she had been looking for this 25 inch gin and bennigoi was just an eye stopper as soon as we saw it we knew we had the bowler and take a closer look at it sure enough the price is right and we fell in love with the fish and fortunately so the customer and she absolutely loves this fish we just can get over the quality of the color How deep the red was additionally when you see how thick the body and tail is you know this fish is going to get big especially considering she's only four years old next stop kaneko koi Farms Farm specializes in both kojaku and shiriatsuri however they also produce quite a number of other fish too we ended up purchasing eight boxes for a total of 25 koi from this Farm perfect we start off the first box with one of the koi that he specializes in a wonderful kujaku we then have this very cute four-step ochiba and another 15-inch ochiba with very unique forehead pattern and finally an igoromo now we have two 23 inch goshikis the intensity of color on these fish was just incredible the Reds were so red and the gray had a nice beautiful evenness to it the difference being one a little on the wider side and the other way on the darker it's gonna be interesting to see how these develop what you're looking for in a goshiki though is you don't want the gray coming through the red and here are two wonderful examples of just that hey Chad this is a 24 inch Benny kikokuru now this one was very interesting the white was so stark white and then the orange was just beautiful right up against it but then we loved the face on it too with that gray coming through with all three colors coming together it was just a very striking fish that's a male which explains the big large pectoral fins and the slightly more slender body and only being four years of age this fish still has plenty of room to grow we start off with a very light goshiki we have here also a ochiba a ginrin Matsu karabaki these are one of the fish he doesn't specialize in but produces some beautiful quality versions of we also have two deutz kujakus this group in a five koi range from 15 to 18 inch fish we start with an eye goromo akujaku and ochiba [Music] another agromo and finally a surugoy we have here a 22 inch goshiki now if you notice the pattern is very light on this fish it's neat how you can see each individual scale now as this fish gets older that'll probably get darker but still it's a very clean pattern with almost no gray coming to the red additionally we have a toncho showa same thing with this one here the black is a little underdeveloped so the hope is that as it gets older that black will come to the surface without overpowering the entire fish so this box starts off with the cumin room a lot of fish you see every day very interesting and unique we have a nice bright yamabuki yogan along with a Deutsche kujaku very nice light black pattern gone on the spine and finally a kohaku with a really nice crisp white body to it and a very interesting and desirable pattern across the face and down to the body and for the last box from kaneko for koi farm we have two large 22-inch male Platinum ogons what's interesting is this isn't even something he specializes in but yet he still can produce these absolutely spectacular fish that's right it's an easy fish to breed hard fish to perfect because you're dealing with one color and now off to hosakai koi Farms [Music] this family owned and operated koi farm has been producing beautiful Koi for the last 50 years [Music] I'll show you why foreign we start off the first box with what seems to be two common fish but are actually both quite unique the first one here is a bennigoy however we rarely find them with these beautiful white pectoral thin outlines something that makes it very special and very unique additionally here we have a heitsuri what's interesting about this one is both parents were actually show us not heed series so that's why you have these white outlines on the fins so they have that black right up against the body then that stripe of red and then the outline of white is just something so unique and very special we really love this fish and then okay let me start off this box with a kujaku along with a second kujaku and we thought that the reticulation of the escalation down the back is just fantastic on these that flake of black in each scale as it goes down the back was so defined we thought these were great examples of what kujah should look like we also happen here a kinshoa so a metallic skinned golden showa we now have a toncho kujaku you can tell Kojak is one of the fish that he specializes in because the scalation on all of them are just wonderful we also have here a ginrin heitsuri and a tancho goshiki so interestingly here on the genron heitsuri the the pectoral fins don't match but actually it's kind of unique and gives it a fun Flair something different here we have a tantra kujaku with wonderful scalation going on its back an absolutely stunner of a toncho showa look how white the white is and finally an ochibo we like the ochiba on this one here the face was just unique had the little bit coming across the sides and also the nose even there's not a lot of brown throughout the back the ground that is there is quality and the pectoral fins match which is just fantastic start off this bowl with a 18 inch female kohaku good nice crisp white on her with a very unique red pattern through her back now this is very interesting here we have a 19 inch male kohaku normally the male is going to be a little on the thinner side so this is one of the Fuller body males we saw the entire trip and finally we have a ginrin showa here we have a another unique fish it's called a coyo and what hosakai has done is he spread together both goshiki and also ochiba so now the goal is to hopefully have that brownish yellow color of the ochiba with the gray scalation of the goshiki speaking of goshikis we have a very beautiful one here with beautiful red and also a great kujaku start off this bowl with an 18-inch kujaku which is like the white circle in the forehead kind of almost feels like a a reverse toncho we also have a 19-inch kujaku really cool almost a white lightning bolt going through its forehead and finally a surugoy now the Third Way looks a little stressed out right now which is why the scalation looks a little weird that'll calm down in a matter of just a couple weeks and she'll end up looking great chocolate and finally we have our last box from hosakai we start this one off with a genre soggy absolutely stunning ginrin scalations look how shiny it is it just really glistens in the light we also have a ginrin bennigoi and also a goshiki the goshiku is really light gray this would be fantastic for someone with a little bit harder water that gray will develop beautifully and that can in its conditions we now move on to chinookoi Farms they have become very popular in the last few years because of the quality of their Deutsche showa Ginman showa and heitsuri so much so that we actually had to wait in line to buy fish this year because there were so many people wanting his fish [Music] now because he does specialize in the ginrin showa deutschoa heitsuri you're going to notice that most of the fish you buy from him are of those varieties but still each one is so beautiful in itself the skin and scalation can just be absolutely stunning and the separation between the colors on the Deutsche fish is just remarkable now you may notice that they all look very similar but each one is so different in itself since we've bought from Shinoda for so many years we know that the black on his fish develops really nicely in our water so we don't mind buying the koi from him with the black being a little underdeveloped we start off this bucket with a heitsuri one of the fishies also known for even though we said that we can we'll buy fish that are a little underdeveloped in the black because we know it will come up in our water if we can find the Shell with deep rich black we'll definitely buy it this first one here is just incredible with how nice and Rich the black already was plus the motuguri or the black in the pectoral fins was a very nice pattern making it just an absolutely beautiful Koi a whole different price scale than here have here another hit Suri ginrin kohaku now once again this is not something he's known for but he's been breeding additional variations of fish the kinron kohaku and also deutsukohaku something he's been experimenting with with great success so then we see here another ginrin showa and then we also have a couple of deuts show us me [Music] everybody get the chance to do that one the thing we really love about shinoda's koi is that here they are at two years of age around 17 to 19 inches and the clarity of the color is just so wonderful the Reds red the whites white the Black is Black and the separation between the colors which is known as Kiwa is just wonderful on his fish good clean Lines no muddling just overall wonderful fish above for the photograph we gotta watch these guys now here we have a kujaku as mentioned earlier he's starting to expand his variations of fish that he's breeding and this is one of the first times we got a kujaku from him and based on this one he has a great future with breeding these fish since we have him buying from this breeder for nearly 20 years we really know how to how his fish respond in our water for example this ginrin showa is a little on the light side however in our experience in our water this orange will turn to a nice deep red in about eight to nine months that'll all turn red and with how strong the ginrin scalation is on the fish creating that cornrow effect this fish has a lot of potential to be something special as she gets bigger and so fluorescent yeah and here we have our last box of two old koi from shinova start off with a beautiful ginrin tancho kohaku now a ginrin kohaku Ahi at Suri and finally okujaku um while visiting Farm we happen to be there one day that he was harvesting his three-year-old koi so after going through his inventory we picked up these two deuts show us first one at 23 inches the second one at 21. this is a great example of an old style showa with a lot of black going across the body and through the pectoral fins and also a new style show up one with much less black and a lot more white and the new style both very beautiful Koi but two very fun different styles and our final fish from Shinoda Quay Farm is this 24 inch female heitsuri now what a beauty this girl is very strong deep rich black and beautiful deep red we loved how each of the pectoral fins was just nearly completely black makes it really stand out traditionally he at series will have a very large bold black pattern on it but this one's fairly simple which to us makes it even more beautiful so you really see how strong the red is on her and look how thick that tail is at only three years of age and 24 inches she's going to be a big fish we now move on to trigoro koi Farms he is perhaps the smallest breeder that we buy from he still produces some absolutely incredible koi he has won dozens and dozens of awards for his specialty fish which is platinum ogons although a all-white koi may not seem that difficult to breed when it's done right you can clearly see the difference so we start off this first box with two of his specialty fish the ginrin Platinum ogon and you can clearly see just how piercing white he does breed these fish and remember these fish have just come out of a bag that they've been in for 24 hours he also does some more unusual stuff we see here a ginrin cumin room along with a shuriat Suri we'll find kumuniters fairly regularly but the ginrin kumun ru was something very unique we knew one of our customers would just love to add this to the collection of koi moving on to the next box we start off again with two ginrin Platinum ogons foreign [Music] we also have here a tancho showa very cute pattern on this one nice good black pattern going back and forth and of course we gotta have something usual we have a ginrin hajaro very interesting the pattern to its back that bouncing back and forth but still a nice white pattern to the bot to the body good strong ginner in scalation too plus a little surprise underneath it actually has orange on its belly something kind of fun and different to see we also picked up two of his three-year-old females here we have a 21 and 22 inch genron Platinum so just like a smaller fish piercing white good full body just fantastic quality and that's why we love buying from Chicago is that just the quality of his Platinum odons is on the next level now let's head over to ikarashi koi Farms each year we look forward to visiting ikarashi koi Farms because we know we're going to find a fantastic selection of koi in that 14 to 16 inch range and we know they'll be great quality for a fair price this ended up being the farm we bought the second most amount of fish from a total of 85 fish and 15 boxes as we go through the unboxing of ikarashikoi farm you'll notice that he has a couple of Specialties one of them is goshiki and this here is a fantastic example of one nice good scalation and a beautiful red pattern he'll also do a lot of deuts fish so here we have two beautiful deutschis along with a deutsukohaku and just for another fun fish how about a Ginga a Ginga can translate as Galaxy so it kind of gives you that dark sky with a speckling ginrin scalation just an interesting fun fish this box starts off with two ginrin goshikis now on some fish the guitar and scalation can sometimes interfere with the clarity of the fish however on these two goshikis I think the general adds a nice little something extra to it we also here have a regular goshiki along with a yellow kujaku and finally a yamabuki ogon this box features a ginrin chagoy a Deutsche mukashi ogon really cool looking with those big scales down the top and also the sides kind of almost like armor plating we have a ginrin kigoy a deutz showa Benny cuminru wow and finally a Benny kikokuru we really like the fins on the kegoi how that little bit of color and the pectoral fins adds a little something extra to the fish and also all these fish here are around 14 to 16 inches we start with a ginrin toncho achiba once again really nice ginrin good reflective skills all going One Direction now ginner and a soggy this one here's a real Beauty look how white the body is a Benny kumaru big bold black pattern on this fish a ginrin metallic ochiba now this one's a definitely a unusual fish and finally a shisui super cute little red button nose on him now this box is actually a really fun example of how much variation you can have within a specific koi type here we have two genre soggies same species but look very very different from each other one with a lot of red and one with not much we're also going to have here four goshikis one toncho and the other three standard but even that you can still see Quite A variation within the color of the gray of the fish themselves ranging from that almost non-existent gray to very dark steel colored starting this one off with a toncho ochiba now if you look closely you can see although light that fishnet pattern down the body is there that's going to be really nice and beautiful as that fish gets bigger we also have a deutschujaku a Benny cumin room another Benny kumaru with a lot of red on it and finally a unique scaled parawaki we find that deutz harewaki is a lot but not the scale ones very often so starting this box off with a Benny kumunru and this is really cool with that red head and almost like a red racing stripes on its back now a cute little koshiki ginrin tancho ochiba great dinner and scalation really really strong uh kujaku another ginrin ochiba and finally a deutschoa here we start this box off with a really deep red kujaku also a ginrin surugoy deutschoa koshiki and finally at Benny kuminaru another fun fish with that a little bit of black on that top we're hoping that black will get a little darker as the fish ages and develop a little more of that deep rich black we want to see on this koi here we start this box off with a Benny cumin room your name deutschoa real cute head on this one with that almost Circle pad into the forehead adoit kin matsuba so a golden yellow matsuba with no scales except on its back a scaled harawaki genre nochiva and now we have a Deutsche gin matsuba so this is a silver version of matsuba same thing with just the scales going down its back this is crazy and I'm like I gotta get off then she wants to talk now we're gonna have three deutschoas in a row it's fun to see how once again you have to have quite a bit of variation in the pattern from fish to fish they're all super cute and good quality so it's you can't really go wrong with any of them we also have a Benny coomen room I'd like this toncho kujaku a lot too really bright white fish and finally a ginrin surugoy great gender installation really uniform and very sparkly I like it a lot Judy uh chased uh now we have a Deutsch show up along with another deutschoa and a deutz Sankey so you can kind of see the difference here the show is having more black on them the song he's having a little bit more that softer amount of black with just kind of Stepping Stones the ochiba here was a great pattern almost a zigzag going back and on the deutschkin matsuba we really like the scalation how it was very uniform but also the pectoral fins match nicely and finally we have a nice clean yagbuki ogon now this box starts off with perhaps one of the best examples of rows of gin Rin scalation we've gotten this was a fantastic little genre nochiba you also have again asagi followed up by another gamer no Chiba you can kind of see the difference between the types of gindran scales between these two fish now this one was a really unique kin kikokuru so it's a golden kikokuru really beautiful fish another skilled hairwaukee and finally a shisui start with a kikasui beautiful white pattern and a good strong orange color to it again deutz showa ochiba interesting pattern I like the little spot on his back and finally a shisui great scalation on spine very uniform and stays like almost like train tracks going on its back here we start with a deutschoa the Real Simple black pattern to it but still very clean and orangi ogon we always try to find our oranges with white and pectoral fins just to add an extra layer of interestingness to them Deutsch kujaku a shisui yeah same thing as with that showa very simple elegant light black pattern to it and finally agoshiki without the face in this goshiki was really beautiful and interesting and here's our final box from ikarashi and we start with a couple of shizuis the first one we thought was adorable with that white on the nose and then just a little bit of white on its back but then the if you look closely both pectoral fins have just a bit of red at the base of it makes it really unique and very cute we also have here a ginrin metallic ochiba something a little unusual and different I know this is and also a sumi garomo this is going to be the in-between one between an igoromo and a voodoo garomo so kind of a medium amount of Darkness to it and then finally a metallic ochiba we now travel over to marusaka koi Farms now what's interesting is even though it appears to be a fairly small facility they actually have over a hundred mud ponds to breed their coin this allows him to breed many different types of metallic koi from kujaku dekigokuru and even Ken kiyutsuri though he produces mainly metallic koi we've noticed that over the last few years he's been developing this fish more and more we have here Ki chisuis so the shisui normally has that red on the sides with the blue down the spine and against a white body but here we have yellow instead of the red very unusual haven't seen these four we knew we had to get them because they were just something we thought our customers would really enjoy seeing and hopefully could add to their Pawn we start this box off with a ginrin orenji ogon once again with those white pectoral fins we'd love to see on them we also have a Deutsche toncho kohaku now we don't find the deuts very often especially when it has a little bit of gearing down the spine now with the benikikokurus and kin Kiku Crews we get from him we'd like to buy the gray a little bit on the light side knowing it'll develop more once gets back into States and end up being a nice deep rich gray as it ages and then we finalize the bucket with a kikasui we really enjoy visiting marasaka koi farm because we can always count on finding something a little different for example here a tancho kikusui Akin kikokuru a deutz platinum ogon now we really liked on this ogon how the scale is going down the spine sometimes you might see breaks or inconsistencies this one was really nice and straight and real even spacing overall we end up buying 16 koi moving three boxes from marsar koi farm and we couldn't be happier with our selection [Music] our next breeder is maruhiro koi farm now he can produce some absolutely stunning large koi however today we were just mainly interested in his two-year-old koi ended up selecting nine boxes with a total of 39 koi [Music] so here we start off this first box with a ginrin kujaku now we have a Deutsche chagoy now if you notice closely he has that round spot as forehand that's actually a bruise not a sore or discoloration that wasn't there when we had purchase a fish what's I've known is chagois ochibas and sergois are all known to actually be able to bruise so you'll get a kind of a darker area for a while and then it goes away after a few weeks and it's back to being just fine yeah pretty chill well it's a chocolate it's a chocolate where all the all the floating bags are so we start this box off with a beautiful ginrin key itsuri nice bright yellow with a good strong shininess to the ginrin scales oh that's right now this here is a very unique fish only maruhiro breeds his fish it's a ginrin ochiba yatsuri so it looks like a standard ochiba but you see that dark banding underneath the scales Midway to its back that as it gets older will come more black looking very similar to a yetsuri this is our first time being able to purchase one of these fish he's only bred him for a short while so we're very excited to see how this one turns out we start this box off with a key at Surrey a soggy cuminru ginrin shiriat Suri and it finally a ginrin showa and we have here a full-bodied 18-inch female ginrin kohaku really really like this fish now Deutsche ginrichagoy now this one is actually very unusual we we only find them but once in a while we happen to find three at maruhiro this year so we bought all three of them great fish very very fun in the pond and actually a big hit with our customers so much so that we had pre-orders for about six of these fish now we have here a really bright and colorful kujaku love how white the white is on this fish and then the oranges is almost like fluorescent we also have a ginrin kohaku a ginrin bennigoy now this is a metallic kimatsuba so this is going to be a nice bright yellow but then also as it gets older each of those scales is going to have a flake of black in it so it should be a very unique beautiful pattern as this fish gets older we have here a ginrin key at Suri hey Keith sorry and then another ginrin key at Suri a kohaku and finally a showa if you look closely in the show you'll see it has that nice round circle on his forehead it's a very desirable markings on it now in this box we have a couple of Youth series we start off with a ginrin heitsuri make that two again series and then a standard scaled he atsiri we have another Deutsch ginrin chagoy and finally a really nice ginrin kigoy liked how bright and colorful beginner scales were on it and how uniformed the color of the skin was so here we have a 14 inch ginrin songki just cute as can be we also have a Deutsche kujaku a larger ginrin kohaku another General kohaku and now finally a showa and now this brings us to our final box from Mario hero Quarry Farms we start off with a gamer and kohaku we got a songki a showa ginrin heitsuri and finally another songki and now we move over to koshiji koi Farms founded just 43 years ago it makes it one of the youngest koi Farms that we're dealing with we end up selecting seven boxes for a total of 18 koi [Music] our first box consists of a grouping of two-year old koi ranging from 12 to 15 inches we kick off with a Yamato Nishiki followed up by a deuts ochiba hey toncho kujaku ginrin tancho kohaku so much the scalation on this ochiba is really interesting the the ginrin scales almost create little pearl-like effects where instead of a full chunk of ginrin in it it's just the tip of each scale has the giver in scalation very unique and different now we're going to move over to the three-year-old fish that we bought from cushiji Court Farms we start off with this 19-inch deutz kinshoa great separation between the orange and the white uh the the Mutu Guru the the black and the pectoral fin matched real nicely and we think it has a lot of potential for the black pattern to come up I also have a very nice 20 inch ginrin showa we thought the the general escalation on here was particularly nice real even distribution of the scales throughout all pointing One Direction really nice fish in here we have a real Beauty it's a 22 inch female goshiki look how intense that red is against the gray I've had one person describe it as lava flowing Down rocks and that's a great way to describe how intense the color is on this fish we also have a 20 inch ginrin showa female same thing as the one before great ginner scalation it just glistens in the light a lot of Hope and potential for these two females as they get bigger the gray is this perfect balance right now one of the fish that koshiji koi farm specializes in is show us and that should be pretty apparent by these next few fish here we have a 20 inch ginrin show a female and a 20 inch regular showa female both beautiful fish the one the ginrichoa has a real big full body tour we have potential for the other one to fill out as she gets older but what is stunning pattern on both the fish start off this box with a 20 inch female showa along with a 19-inch female deutschoa both had matching pectoral fins so that was a nice draw to him on the Regular Show we just like that that black over one eye kind of give it a little eye patch it was just something different and unique and just thought it add a nice character to the fish in this box we have a 22-inch female showa along with a 19-inch female ginrin shariot sorry now look at the show up look how deep and Rich the black is on that how dark it gets in the pectoral fins it's you can almost not even see the escalation that's a sign of a very high quality showa we picked this fish up to fulfill a pre-order that a customer had requested before we went to Japan and they have a strong feeling they're gonna be very happy with this fish each year the owner likes to pick out one or two special fish for his own pond and this year this koi fit the bill we have a five-year-old 26 inch Deutsche Sankey female look at this beautiful fish the white on the head is so crisp and so clean the separation between all the colors is razor sharp and it has a very elegant beautiful pattern to it an absolutely stunner of a fish and she's posing for me also thank you now move on to otsuka koi Farms here we selected a total of six boxes and 23 koi [Music] we always enjoy stopping off at Asuka koi Farms because we know I'll have some really fun unusual high quality stuff we start off this first box with a 19-inch asagi each year we get a number of requests from our customers for small but very high quality koi we know that otsuka will always deliver these for us so even though these fish may be alone the small side in that 15 to 16 inch range the quality is just wonderful on them we really like the deutsanki here the nose was clean and the quality of the red and black was just wonderful we're going to start off this box with a toncho goshiki now we thought this one was just super cool with how circular the forehead was just a great small fish a high quality with a lot of potential with that gray still being light should develop beautifully in someone's pond we also have a Benny koi love the white tips the pectoral Finch and the Benny koi really highlights makes the fish stand out more we also have a heated steering a budo garomo it's a nice dark grape clustering to the color of it because that really bold color deep maroon color to it and finally at igoromo so both of those two fish there are garomos the eye Grom will be in the very light color the budo much darker Park this box starts off with a AKA matsuba this is actually one of the fish that otsuka is known for breeds really beautiful versions of these having a soggy now if you notice asagi is very light we like to buy the asagis from Japan a little on the light side we don't want to seem polished and finished because in our water here in the states they have tendency of darkening up so we like to buy them a little light give them a chance to darken after they get here very nice foreign we have a 20 inch kegoi and specifically this is an albino kigoice so if you look closely you'll actually notice the eyes have a red tin switch versus the normal black that you see in the koi it says something a little different and unusual we also have an 18 inch akamatsua now if you look at those matsubas you see that the scalation is just wonderful the good clean separation between each scale really highlights how high quality these two fish are I'm going to start off this box with a couple of ginrin goshikis once again we just love these fish how how the sparkle of the Gin ring just really highlights how intense the colors are we also have a asagi cute little round circle in the forehead just makes it something a little different unusual we know of a customer who's going to love that I also have a Deutsche acope and finally an AKA matsuba and now we have our final box from otsuka Koi Farms we start off this one with a 22 inch female gin Rin chagoy and just look at how intense those scale those given scales are on her something absolutely stunning looks like Fool's Gold swimming around in the pond we had a customer who had requested a nice quality dinner in chagoy and we just thought this would fit his build perfectly we also have a 20 inch asagi now as mentioned before we like to buy the asagis on the light side so our hope is that this fish although it looks a little light right now about a year or so and our water will look wonderful with a deep scalation on its back plus the orange on the face and the pectoral fins matching so well from side to side it's just amazing does that work did I close it and now our final breeder negoshi koi Farms they're located about two hour drive west of where most of the Breeders are located so we don't get to visit them very often but as you'll see they were well worth the drive he produces some absolutely spectacular fish we ended up selecting five boxes for a total of seven koi we visited negoshikoya Farms on the last day of our trip at that point we still had a number of outstanding high-end pre-orders still to fulfill fortunately he was able to help us fulfill those orders for their customers with some absolutely fantastic fish for example here we have a 20-inch female four-step kohaku on the kohaku if you look the back edge of each of the spots is nice and sharp but the front edge has a little bit of that Distortion that's okay that's color still to come up on the fish as it grows you also have here a 22 inch asagi now if you look closely in the asagi you'll notice what it has what's called takatogen scale so each scale is actually outlined it with just a little bit of ginarin giving it just a little hint of reflectiveness to it but wow check out that face how clean the white is on it oh [Music] we had one client who had asked for something special something different uh a real head turner and we thought this 26 inch female metallic kimatsuba would be perfect for him the yellow is just so intense and bright and then the escalation going on each side was just nearly perfect plus the full body of her you really couldn't ask for much more of a better confirmation on a fish she is just a real head turner so we thought this would be perfect for that customer and sure enough as soon as we showed her to him he jumped the opportunity to purchase her the same client that had just requested that last fish also requested a large Sankey so we thought this 25 inch female would fit his bill perfectly look at how intense the colors are the Reds just red and the white is white and the black is so rich plus you can still see there's some immature black still to come up you add to that the sheer width the body and the size of the head and this three-year-old koi still has a lot of potential to grow we think that customers can be very happy with this selection we had another client who had requested a three-step kohaku with a very specific pattern to and sure enough on the very last Pawn we found exactly it was looking for this 20-inch kohaku fit his build perfectly we also have a 22 inch ginrin kawari matsuba this is a very unusual just different fish very flashy we thought this was the perfect in someone's Pawn who's looking for that one of a kind koi and now the very last fish of our trip this is actually a project fish that nagoshi koi farm has been developing for a few years the breeder actually brought it out back for us because he thought we'd enjoy it out of his private collection this is a platinum yamabuki ogon so a cross between both the platinum and a yabuki something very unusual and different and just unique we're really interesting to see how this fish develops over the coming years we hope you enjoyed watching all the koi purchased on our 2022 koying trip we wanted to let you see all the variety in both quality and price range of the koi we select each year so that if you don't find what you're looking for on our website you might want to consider pre-ordering your dreamcoi next year thank you again so much for watching [Music] [Music]
