virtual church and incidentally today is the first day of the lea evangelistic series christ the cross and his coming my name is trevine little church and also co-hosting with me is hello happy sabbath everyone and i'm also from andrews memorial some of the adventist church it's so good to be co-hosting with you this morning maribel i know that we chatted a bit this week but i had an experience yesterday that i haven't shared with anyone as yet so for a few days i've been driving a demo vehicle that is owned by atl motors because they were working on my own vehicle and yesterday while i was in new kingston i was trying to make a u-turn and it appeared as if it was international mean day because no one would let me out but maribel i looked in the distance and i saw another car it was a tiguan it also had a blue plate on it and even without knowing what would have happened next i had the confidence that that vehicle would have let me out because we were both driving vehicles that belong to the atl family and one of the things that is so great about the sabbath is that it's a great convocation with persons of different makes models and shapes and we are all brought together by the fact that we're all a part of god's family and so when i say happy sabbath family i truly mean it marvel i know that you have some fun facts about the cross could you share it with our viewers as well as where they can find us to worship with us this morning of course well we will start off with where you can find us and that is ejc virtual church on both youtube and facebook so please ensure that you like you subscribe and most of all share with others so that they can receive the special blessing god has in store for them and as it relates to the fun fact i i was reading a bbc article and there was an analogy by mother claudio and i found that it was such an interesting analogy because at the cross when you look at it it's just it's two horizontal sections so you have the well not hard it's two sticks you could say form together so you have the horizontal and the vertical and what she said was that the yes i don't want to misquote so you have the vertical which is heaven coming down to earth and then you have the horizontal where you have the human joining the divine and when you have either if you don't have the horizontal or if you don't have the vertical then you don't have the cross so they're actually forming together that is what gives it the power the divine and the human gives the cross its power its significance and its meaning and god when he died on the cross he knew what we were so he knows what it means to suffer so when we're going through our own crosses we can have confidence that god is with us and he will see us through to the end amen that's really profound maribel i like that the intersection between humanity and divinity i know we have an exciting program ahead of us being led by our superintendent from the can caught someday adventist church sister karen hallgate morgan and so we will allow her to introduce the rest of the sabbath school program thank you so very much it is indeed a great pleasure for me to be out out in public it's been like nearly two years since i've really had an opportunity to be live anywhere doing anything so god be praised that we are here today thank god that our lea series is finally getting getting off to a bold start and we are happy that our sabbath school will form a part of this whole program today thank you um so we are at the beginning of the fourth quarter a new series of lessons are going to be done for this quarter and it's a very interesting and powerful set of lessons that we are going to be studying this quarter um we are actually going to be studying the book of deuteronomy and we're going to look at what the book of deuteronomy means and how does it relate to the present time and today our topic is going to be a preamble we're going to talk a little bit about the history of the israelites and how what happened when they got to where they are at the edge of canaan at the edge of heaven you might say but they couldn't make it in and we are going to have a panel of persons who will be discussing that lesson today and they're led by our elder anthony clark from north street of course from north street and he will introduce his team at the appropriate time so so for now we are going to ask all the persons who are involved in the preliminaries for sabbath school to stand by so that um we're also going to ask you to come in the sequence you are on the program and introduce yourselves and your church as you come to the podium so i won't have to do a lot of talking hereafter so present truth from the book of deuteronomy and today we are looking at the preamble for deuteronomy and um elder i hope your team is standing by everybody we are going to have a mixed team right some are going to be on zoom and some are going to be live you're ready awesome thank you so much all right so i'm going to invite a young lady sister tajani who is standing in for her mom is she here she's not here okay all right okay then yeah that's the beauty of being the superintendent you get to stand in for everyone all right so i'm going to introduce the opening hymn for today it's going to be him number 317 lead me to calvary okay [Music] [Applause] [Music] lead me to calvary [Music] let's not forget my love [Music] ten early morning [Music] oh [Music] lead me [Music] [Music] lest i forget [Music] lead me to calvary may i be willing [Music] of grief to share thou hast [Applause] [Music] [Music] and i'm sick today from the euro circle sda church our scripture reading comes to us this morning from first john 4 verse 8 deuteronomy 4 verse 36 37 and deuteronomy 6 verse 5. i will read first john 4 verse 8 and it reads he who does not love does not know god for god is love deuteronomy 4 verse 37 and because he loved your fathers therefore he chose their descendants after them and he brought you out of egypt with his presence with his mighty power deuteronomy 6 verse 5 you shall love the lord your god with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength here ends the reading of a portion of god's holy word let us get an attitude of prayer let us pray eternal father and our god want to tell you thanks to this beautiful sabbath morning where we can come to worship and to fellowship with you i want to say thank you for taking us safely through another week oh god and as we're here we put this program in your hands father and we ask that you will send your sweet holy spirit to lead and to direct and i pray that whatever will come from our lips will bring honor and glory to your name and persons watching persons looking on will be blessed and will draw closer to you and will say it was good to be worshiping and fellowshipping with you so we bless your name this morning and we tell you thanks for your holy spirit and for your leading and for the blessings that we all receive and this your holy day of rest in jesus jerusalem thanksgiving amen happy sabbat everyone my name is natoya grant and i'm from the greenwich town seven-day adventist church today's mission story is entitled i met jesus at the shop it didn't seem that life could get much worse as the writer would have thought soon me her husband was stricken with bone marrow cancer then his parents died she had to pay for her mother-in-law's funeral on her own she didn't even have the money she needed to cover her son's expenses her salary was simply not enough to cover her husband's hospital bills much less to support her entire family she was very sorrowful she often wept she was feeling very much alone but one day she met a lady by the name of yon suk now yonseok wasn't a friend or a relative of one son me however she often tried to cheer her up she gave her an assistance by having her work in her shop now this extra money helps pay for living expenses and her husband's hospital bills once on me was very grateful for this opportunity but she noticed something unusual about yon suk she seemed much happier than other people she thought this to be very strange but she was greatly moved by her joy as she got to know her she saw that she went to church on every sabbath and that she never worried about the income she had lost by closing her shop once per week now unson me was an atheist she wanted however to go to church with her and to find out why she had such joy and peace yonseok never really invited unsun me to church but she resolved in her heart that she had to go to church so she started to study the bible on her own as a result she got to learn more about god and found peace in her heart she later gave her life to jesus christ and joined the west haman seven-day adventist church where she now serves as a deaconess alongside with jan sook there are many things the writer says that i don't know but i believe in god from the bottom of my heart the same jesus whom she met through yonseok is the same jesus she gave in her life today this year her husband and her son were baptized and joined the adventist family it doesn't seem that life could get much better thanks be to god the writer says for reaching my family through yonsuk and her shop this mission story illustrates mission objective number one of the seven day adventist church's i will go strategic plan to revive the concept of worldwide mission and sacrifice for mission as a way of life involving not only for pastors but every church member this quarter your 13th sabbath offering will support two mission projects in south korea thank you happy service everyone my name is carl wolo watson and i'm a member of the whitfield town seventh-day adventist church i'm here with you today just to share my testimony in the year 2013 i was stricken with colon cancer i didn't know where to turn as i was kind of new in this adventist faith but i always heard my pastor talk trust god and believe and that's what i did i trusted him i remember when i was going to the state for the operation the only song that come to my mind is have your own way oh lord have your own way and that's the last thing i remember singing and when i come out of the operation all i could say is thank you god for what you have done and when the doctor examined me a couple months after thanks be to god he said no chemotherapy no radiation i i just got some medication and i was released and thanks be to god i'm here right now fast forward now to six months ago when my husband was admitted at the kingston public hospital lo and behold they said they had covered when i get tested at saint joseph hospital lo and behold i had it too it was a rough month it took over two months for us to get back on our feet and thank god i'm here today as a living testimony fast forward again on with friday afternoon from thursday i have a pain in my chest and to tell you the truth i never knew i would have made it here this morning and last night when i said to my choice sister this pain in my chest won't go away she said i must go to the practice and just tell the leg that i won't be able to make it but when i went on last night i heard one of my chest and said she won't be able to make it so i said oh my brother first so i say i determine in my heart say i'm going to be here this morning and thanks be to god when i woke up this morning no pain the pain is gone and i'm standing right here giving my testimony and all i can say is i don't know why jesus loves me i don't know why he care but i'm glad he did so glad he did and i put my trust in him and i see where he have come through for me and all i can say to all my brothers and sisters whatever you're going through it may be rough it may be tough it may be hard but put your trust in god he cares for you and he will come true sister carol willrie you are truly an inspiration to all our viewers and certainly to me it is now time for a lesson review and i will let you know starting from the primary division who will be coming next first we will have adventist church specifically elder anthony gray sister julian brooks sister janil salmon and elder richard de pass but immediately before we have our lesson review we're going to have a special song being brought to us by new creation heritage falling in love with jesus you know as i mentioned before today is the beginning of the lea evangelistic series and in this series we will be favored with special health features as well as inspiring music during the series we will hear from three power packed evangelists elder noel jump edel elder noel morgan and also elder basil powell collectively these gentlemen have been preaching the word of the lord for many years and they continue to stand up for god i'm inspired by them and i'm asking all viewers to not keep this series to yourself but invite your friends i also want to give a special welcome to persons who are joining us in the chat we are live on our youtube channel we are also live on facebook and so inviting you to share and let others know that ejc is where it's happening this morning the beginning of our lea evangelistic series we'll notate that song from new creation heritage falling in love with jesus [Music] the best of me is [Music] how [Music] [Music] my [Music] my knees [Music] he there's only [Music] i get on my knees [Music] me see i don't know how but this [Music] when i'm on my [Music] i get ears my knees i get on my [Applause] that knees me see i don't know how but this part when i'm on my oh [Music] when i'm on my [Music] yes viewers that was not exactly new creation heritage but i believe you will agree with me maribel that janelle ambrosely sounded like new creation i would definitely agree with that that was a beautiful song one of my favorites so robert gray are you there young man yes mom i'm here how are you and happy sabbath happy sabbath i'm okay how was your week thank you for asking i'm doing well a little nervous it may not show but i'm doing well how was your week so my week was good awesome and what is the topic of your lesson that you're going to be sharing with us this morning so the topic of my lesson is giants and grasshoppers awesome i will allow you to go okay so giants and grasshoppers of course a lot of you know what giants are and a lot you know what grasshoppers are grasshoppers are really tiny and giants are really big that is the well that is the base topic of today's lesson so it starts off when god tells moses to bring the people out of to bring the israelites out of egypt and he eventually does that pharaoh eventually dies along with his soldiers and his captain got ready to that got ready the horses and chariots and chariots so yeah they all died what told moses to carry the people of israel to the promised land moses carried them not into the promised land but i think like right off the coast so what they what god told him to do was to [Music] get 12 spies from 12 tribes and send out those 12 spies to spy on the people under in the land and see how strong the walls were see the defenses see um what fool was there and i assume i mean i assume the people of israel wanted to really see if it was filled with milk and honey because people of israel always grumble about stuff like godzilla so i would assume that's what happened anyways so they went in there then it took 40 days for the for the toe spies to come back i was amazed when i read that in my story because it would take me about two days to come back to give a good reports anyways so they came back ten spies gave bad reports and two spies joshua and caleb gave good report gave good report reports now i'm separating the 10 spies from the joshua caleb here so joshua and caleb came with a huge pool with two huge bungles of grapes and the people were rejoicing and the and having gladness in their life and you know but then when the other ten spies came and sell and told them that there were giants in in the city and the walls were very strong that we could never fight them because we felt like grasshoppers at the inside them and that's all that and that's how we see into the giants that's what they said in the story anyways so people's joy and happiness turned into sadness and weeping so they cried all night long saying it would be better to die in egypt or even here in the wilderness than to die in the um in the city now i think that confuses me is there are the people of israel and they're grumbling that they could not have done what what god was expecting of them to do and this and they and they often forget that well god's always with them and that god is like i would say the giants are a hundred feet and god is a thousand feet or two 000 feet greater than a million i would say so god's height is has no limits but the giant's head has limits so they forgot that that god was bigger than anything and that everything on earth was smaller than anyways so they they cried all night long the next day next day um next day they so god so they started to grumble even more so the story is saying their grumbling turd took an ugly uglier turn sorry i'm mixing up so many words here you're doing so well you're doing well really nervous because i've never done this before anyways so god came in a flashing light a dazzling light story said and he told the people of israel to that they would not go into the promised land because they don't want to go into promised land well they don't believe that they can go in the proper slack that they can go and probably so god tells them that if you don't that since you don't want to so that since you don't believe that i can take you through the giants and the walls like i did with joshua well that's after sorry um yeah so since so god said since you don't believe that i can take you through the walls and the giants you will not go into the into the promised land now i don't know what the promised land name is so yeah anyways so god told them that they would die in the wilderness as they were but their children would go into the promised land and as for joshua and caleb they will also win promised land along with their along with the israelites children that would be a lot of people a lot of people so i so i assume they won well i'm not assuming i know they won and they took the land for themselves and yeah so that's the whole story that's the whole summary of the story i'm sorry i stuttered a little bit and the memory verse for this story is let us encourage one another hebrews 10 25 and the message is the message is we encourage one another to follow the lord amazing amazing job robert and no need to apologize if you listen closely you might hear us stumbling over a few words who do we have excellent job okay next we have kevin are you there kevin yes i'm here happy sabbath how are you doing good how was your week great yeah glad to hear and you didn't get watching the rain right no excellent okay so tell us about your story my lesson is about um they came when the mo habitat and the anabites were coming to jerusalem the king say to the people they will fast and ask god to tell them what he wants him to do um a king is a ruler of an independent state yet still he knows of and recognize of importance of letting god lead them from start to finish the crowd in this story is like family to the king in other words the king leads his family out in worship we as children of god face these battles on a daily basis what is very important is how do we face these buttons we cannot on our own face these but allowing god to lead us through our everyday battles is this the only way conquering the enemy what is even more important in this tour is when their thankfulness in prayer for a promised victory they were thanking god for what he will do for them in the future there is no specific time to be thankful to god at this start middle and end in mathematics class we would say infinite today let me encourage someone that the daily bodies of life are already one just ask god for his intervention and leading throughout our life long journey when we praise god together he wins victory for us thank you so much kevin that's a very encouraging note especially in these times when we have so many battles to face but as you said we don't have to face them alone and we can give god thanks in advance amen and now we have daniel rooms from the cornerstone division are you there daniel i'm here and i'm here happy sabbath happy sabbath so happy to have you were you excited about the lesson study this week i wouldn't well you could say so i wouldn't say i'm excited i'm enjoying happy to be here alive and thank god for life that's a mature response i like that daniel i will allow you to do your lesson review okay the topic of the connoisseur is keeping it real the key text comes to us from luke 19 verses 41 and 42 and he says as he approached and saw the city he went over it and said if you even you had only known on this day what would bring you peace but now it is hidden from your eyes they brought the donkey and the cold and placed their cloaks on them for jesus to sit on the crowd spread their clothes on the road while others cut branches and places in the street while the crowd shouted hosanna to the son of david blessed is he who comes in the name of the lord and other things sooner or later jesus arrived at the temple and entered the temple accords and drove out all who were buying and selling there he overturned the tables of money changers and the benches of those selling dogs it is written he said to them my house would be called a house of prayer but you are making it a den of robbers early in the morning as jesus was on his way back to the city he was hungry seeing a fig tree by the road he went up to it but for nothing on it except leaves then he said to it may you never bear fruit again immediately the tree withered so what i mainly got from this lesson is that jesus is not pleased when we try to look holy and pretend to be a good fruit jesus wants us to keep it real and keep it right let me correct myself jesus wants us to keep it real and keep it right thank you very much for sharing that and if we are going to have now from the early teen class joelle are you there joel happy sabbath okay well joel is not there so we're going to move on to our adults we have elder anthony clark who'll be leading out and so on the panel for the adult lesson we have elder anthony clark elder richard de pass and joining us virtually we'll have sister julian brooks and sister janil salman it's an exciting time the beginning of a new quarter i think we're looking on the book of deuteronomy so we're very excited to see what they will do with our lesson so am i good morning and welcome to our adult sabbath school lesson review we are starting a new quarterly today entitled present truth in deuteronomy we have a new panel sisters julian brooks and danielle salmon from the arnold road church they'll join us via zoom and in studio we have elder richard the past and yours truly anthony clark from the north street church we are delighted to be here with you but before we open god's word let us pray kind compassionate father in heaven hallowed be your matchless name we thank you today for life for good health and strength we thank you for your blessings may your holy spirit enlighten our understanding is my prayer in jesus wonderful name amen today's lesson is entitled preamble to deuteronomy or introduction to deuteronomy if you like i know memory verse comes to us from first john 4 chapter 4 john 1 john chapter 4 verse 8 which says he who does not love does not know god why because god is love present truth in deuteronomy let the past what comes to mind when you hear the term present truth so what comes to mind is the fact that there is truth that is critically important for those who are currently alive uh and i would add to say present truth may be a case where for example god is love as you mentioned that is present truth from day one even until now in the case of the three angels message it's present truth for no more than fought in times past for example like when moses was talking to the people of israel okay wonderful so those truths are relevant even today amen you know the book of deuteronomy takes place in a larger context of the events that are recorded in numbers 22 right through to joshua chapter 2. the historical setting is where we see the israelites encamped on the plains of moab not too far from the promised land but for 40 long years they wandered in the wilderness between egypt and the promised land and throughout that time that generation with probably the exception of caleb joshua and moses they perished so deuteronomy really represents moses's final address to second generation israel you see moses pointed out to those people that there are truths that were relevant to first generation israel that's still relevant to second generation israel the purpose of moses's address was really to challenge and to exhort this current generation to total devotion to god in a new covenant relationship which promises blessings for loyalty and threatened cursing for rebellion there is something about god which was true then and it is true even today what is this attribute what is this attribute that represents present truth julian speak to our viewers about this well i'm not here julian coming in but it's it's really content you know memory text god is love and you know it it's interesting that for mankind we expect to be loved but many times we don't love and it's interesting because there are many who will ask the question elder who is it that created evil was it god what would you say to them well god created all things and it was very good but in fact he gave choice choices and um that was the case for um for adam and eve and all the created beings i i can't just imagine if i was to be forced to to love my children or my wife or my family would that really be love what kind of experience would that be and so god as the eternal father wanted not to force us to respond to him in love it ought to be out of our response out of our relationship with him and that's where the whole matter of choice choice came in amen you see for for us to really love the lord in the way without with our hearts and our minds then it really has to be a choice it can't be forced and there is always a risk that we are going to choose not to serve god but nevertheless god had to make us like this so that we in do indeed you see god loves his creation especially those that he made to fellowship with him and that's you and i right and because of that love that he has for us our creator actually turned around and became what a redeemer right so hello richie in considering the fall and the flood how does the present truth that el shaddai the god of second chances worked for the israelites then and is working for us today before i go into that part of it i want to say that the opposite of love is what selfishness the opposite of love is selfishness and if we choose not to love then selfishness is the result and this led to a fall but the lesson made reference to eisen isaac newton who spoke about the whole matter of gravity and in his contemplation he saw that gravity not only affected the apple tree which he observed but it affected the universe in terms of how the sun orbits and all the sun on the move orbits and so it is that in the spiritual realm the fall that impacted satan the selfishness that impacted satan impacts us today falling out of grace falling out of a relationship with christ now the thing is that the the present truth then i know is that god has a plan of redemption amen the god seeing what had happened through the fall and through the ages he said listen i'm gonna turn on heaven's pipe i'm gonna pour out a flood on this earth to give a new start and you know what is also true it was true then and it is true now that god plans to give us a new start and ultimately in the end he will not be pouring out water but he will be pouring out fire because he intends to restore this loving relationship once and for all so god in his love and mercy intends to cleanse us and to cleanse this earth of sin and selfishness amen thank you very much hillary chief i'm gonna throw to another for one of another panelists i'm going to show this to daniel the bible declares in hebrews 13 verse 8 that jesus christ is the same yesterday today and forever so i want you to explain to our viewers how does this present shoot manifest itself in the call of abraham abraham and the the the promises that he received you know elder viewers that's a very interesting question because the call of abraham abraham has relentless love written all over it so we know abraham you know as a giant father of faith but how much do we know about his call and the fact that he's called personified god's love journey with me to perhaps over 3000 years ago after the flood so we got to check a second chance but not much had changed as it relates to the heart condition of men there were still sinfulness idolatry wickedness you name it it was their bold defiance of god and abraham god saw abraham and he said you know what i'm going to use this gentleman and i'm going to use him to rebuild and to show that i'm interested in establishing a loving relationship with my people he did it three ways viewers he called him out he striked a real good deal with him and of course he gave him a mission let's talk about the how god's relentless love was plastered over the special deal that god told abraham about he said listen abraham i'm going to give you a new home you're not going to be living in er of the challenge anymore that messed up hometown of yours you're going to go to canaan i'm promising you that you're going to be given a new name you're going to be the father of a great nation and i'm going to have your back in such a profound way that anybody who dares to curse you i am going to curse them and we see that this promise really culminated in the savior being born through abraham's lineage again we're talking about abraham's call and how it reflected god's relentless love but viewers the promises that god made to abram they were not in a vacuum he had a duty and that duty was to preserve the knowledge of god and to share it with others around him and definitely to preserve it through his lineage but it didn't quite happen that way as we know about the children of israel they would have turned their backs they would have complained they would have defied that time and time again but god's relentless love kept running after them the same relentless love that he used to call abraham and what we learned from this week's lesson is that in every single generation there is a remnant a remnant that god is calling out that god is extending abram's promises to and that god is equipping for a mission now we have to bring it home as seventh day adventist we are modern-day israel we are by faith children the seed of abraham god is calling us out just like he did for abraham back then in ear of the chaldeans he is calling us out of this sinful world he's hand-picking us for such a time as this and he's saying the same mind-blowing deal that i gave to abraham i am extending that to you as well and the same mission that i extended to abraham it is also yours you have the awesome privilege to share the good news about my relentless love just like abraham wants to do so the challenge as i conclude elder is that similar to abraham's call and the fact that god's relentless love was embodied in that call we too have the opportunity to partake in that relentless love so i challenge all of us including myself to accept god calling us out such a time as this accept the promises that ears to abraham's um deal that god would have made with him and of course lastly and perhaps most importantly to accept the mission to preserve the good news and to share and preserve the knowledge of god in our generation thank you very much daniel and just to underscore something that you you have said god freed the children of abraham god chose them to spread to tell all the people around of his goodness and his is his relentless effort to save them so as 70 adventists today we have been given the same job the whole call and promise to abram was really about taking the good news of salvation to everyone on the world so we talk about the covenant at sinai or if you like the agreement at sinai and and janelle and julian you both can come by and on this one what was this what did you talk about what was this agreement a committee was agreement was it an impersonal set of contract based on rules or was it based on loyalty you know and uh let's take the first question what was this agreement at sinai this agreement had signed i was really an agreement of love god was saying to the children of israel i love you yes you've messed up yes you've complained yes you signed line sidelined me on numerous occasions but i love you you're special you're my special treasure and i want it to remain that way so listen up this is what i'm going to do at this spot sinai i'm going to give you two guides the ceremonial guide and the moral guide and they will guide you uh to to how you should honor me to how you should worship me to how you should treat others and the moral law which is what we're zooming in on for the next few minutes is really the ten commandments and let's be clear here the ten commandments was not established at sinai it was established and julian will tell us about that from the beginning from the foundation of the universe so at sinai that was god was merely reminding them about what they're prone to forgetting so he gave them the transcript and this transcript was a summary of his character i like to put it that way he says listen the more you learn about me and the special love i have for you the more leaning you will be prompted into a love motivated obedient obedience love motivated obedience and i particularly like that because it underscores the point that the ten commandments julie it's not just there for us to do in order for god to love us i think about my husband and he loves lentils very soupy very soupy and because i love him i do it i don't do it to gain his love and the ten commandments is similar to that god is saying i love you i want you to love me and then the loving loyalty will manifest itself through the keeping of my commandments but julie tell us more about this list of do's and don'ts and about the loyal relationship that's embedded in that list of ten commandments okay so what should our viewers take away can the ten commandments be seen as a relationship or is it really a bunch of rules that everybody is being forced to abide by and i'll answer in this way the ten commandments is really about relationship relationship between us and god and between us and people essential to all relationships is this whole matter of duty of care take for example a parent and child relationship the parents provide home affection etc and the child attends school holding up their end of the bargain displays uh positive behavior etc if either party is disloyal then the state intervenes and we have agreed that this is fair let us quickly then look on the ten commandments right and you tell me if you think this is fair i like how jill moriconi puts it and she puts them as promises promise number one for example you will desire only me nobody else when you look on other promises promise number three reference and respect my name and my character and do all you can to safeguard our relationship when you jump over to like promise number five you will love those who have given you life and respect your family i have given to you and when you look for example on the last set of promises in the 10 you will be content with what i have given to you and will respect your neighbors and speak truthfully about them etc these friends seem reasonable to me what say you if you love do as you say amen amen indeed so that agreement is an agreement of love not about rules a rule-based engine it is hello richie as we started this week we saw present truth coming out in relation to the god of mercy and justice so how do these attributes of god relate to the israelites being found in apostasy and then there exists a need for punishment you see elder the question could be asked is it really god that punishes or did israel made their choice and reap the consequences israel did say that all that you say i will do but the story is told they did otherwise and i even contemplated adam and eve consider the number of fruit trees that are in jamaica just for one tree they chose something different they chose selfishness and that's what led to the matter of apostasy which is moving away from worship to god and moving more to self and i'm saying that god is a god of love here it is that in the case of israel god showed to the second generation a love because they would not have seen as much as their forefathers so i will give you the chance i will allow you but those who would have gone on before would have gotten the full they would have they would have seen how god would have led in the past how many things they would have he would have done for them and note god saved the people out of slavery which is sin before he reminded them of the sabbath amen commandments thank you very much for that richie so you see friends deuteronomy must be viewed within the larger framework of redemptive history although moses gave the choice of either covenant blessing or curse he knows that they will deserve cursing why because their hearts are full of rebellion rebellion so i trust that your takeaway from today's lesson review would be that number one god is love number two that is a god of second chances number three that we serve an unchanging god number four our god is a god of relationship and number five the god of heaven is a god of mercy and grace so as we sign out today i say thank you on behalf of our panelists hello richard the pass sisters danielle salmon and julian brooks and yours truly anthony clark remember wherever people are god requires true devotion have a blessed sabbath [Music] i've walked among the shadows you wiped my tails away i felt the pain of heartbreak and i've seen the brighter days i've predicted [Music] and i have held your blessings god you give and take away no matter what i am your grace is enough and no matter where i am i'm standing in your love on the mountains out about my life to the one who set me there in the valley i will lift my eyes to the one who sees me there when i'm standing on the mountain i didn't get there on my own when i'm walking through the valley i know i am not alone you're a god of the hills and valleys hills and valleys out of the hills and valleys and i am not alone [Music] i've watched my dreams get broken in you [Music] [Music] when i'm walking through the valley [Music] and i not [Music] [Music] on the mountains my [Music] when i'm standing on the mountain i didn't get there on my own when i'm walking through the valley i know i am not alone and i am not alone [Music] [Applause] god of the [Music] and i am not alone [Music] good morning pastor good morning good morning my name is yes i am coming to service leader from the greenstone church yes pastors despite them since this pandemic we are having a hard time a rough time we can't feel the people yes and we are so devastated things getting out of hand oh pastor what can you and the church what can the conference party and the church do to help us in this time boy you know all along the school the kings high school wanted some tablets i'm wondering if the conference couldn't help pastor what happened i'm a teacher at our schools and i can attest to danielle we are in need of tablets we are in need of laptops for children to go online because pasta we have children who are at home and when you ask them what does that mean we don't have any tablet so we are here to ask you what can the church and the conference do to us what's happening kingsway prep and also ugly park and other schools around pasta yes i am hearing or you i represent health and i'm hearing the the cry for help from education and community services we are working but we need help penn wood clinic the good samaritan in trench town and others we are working but we need help what can you and the conference do to help us let not your heart be troubled minister of the gospel i am jasper wayne you are all just for winning just for wayne just but i have something that will assist you yeah and the conference yes in the year 1902 i got this brilliant idea from the holy spirit i went to pick up 50 copies of the magazine the signs of the time and guess what i decided to go out in the public and give away these magazines but the holy spirit told me share the mission of the church with the people and ask the people for a contribution to the mission of the church and you know what happened in that one day as i finished giving out those signs of the time magazine i raised 26 26 26 usd in 1902 and i had the opportunity to to fortunately 10 days later i got 50 copies more of the magazine by mistake what did you think i do i gave them out and by the end of the year i raised a hundred usd dollars for the mission of the church we can share with the people out there what the church is doing and they will contribute isn't that a wonderful yeah you see that's the thing i know about that story but i've never met you just to win i've always talked about just the way and it's nice to know we're meeting just watch this for all these years since that first effort i tell you something we have been going out there year after year sharing god's love with people and giving people the opportunity to help in the church's humanitarian work as a matter of fact i want to thank everyone who has been involved in sharing in the in gathering program year after year and you know we have a lot of people working to help we have adra adra is adventist development and relief agency which help worldwide with major projects but coming to services on the ground at every church and where do they get funds well the conference gives some of it budget annual budget to help with this but also some of the funds that we get come in through the annual in gathering program last year we collected over 8 million dollars praise god amen and and among the people that were helped we gave education 1.7 million dollars was spent helping education we spent half a million dollars helping in health and clinic and and in welfare and community services we spent 1.5 million dollars and and it goes on and on it's not that we are doing nothing but i just want to thank everyone who has been participating and today we want to officially launch evangelising evangelism and in gathering but at this slot we are announcing the in gathering campaign and i tell you something it's not just about collecting money it's also about every member of the church total member involvement going to share with people in this time of pandem pandemic and hopelessness the hope that is in jesus christ every member involved i'm so glad we have with us the man who is in charge of in gathering in the entire jamaica our leader pastor adrian cottrell from the jamaica union who is a sabbath school and personal ministries leader what do you have to say pastor cultural as we go into in gathering campaign oh thank you pastor kananam the in gathering campaign is part of the divine initiative of the seventh-day adventist church to assist the members to share christ into the community and to acquaint them with the progress and mission of the church over the last year and of course to assist them and to give them that privilege so that they will contribute to the mission of the church the theme for this year giving caring and giving caring and sharing gives us the idea that the church desires to meet unconditionally the expressed needs of the community we want you to give as much as you can give because as you give we will be able to give back to the community all that you have shared with us may god bless you on this morning i want to officially launch the in gathering campaign here in the east jamaica conference praise the lord thank you so much why don't we bow our heads together and claim god's blessing and what will be a short sweet spicy and successful evangelism and in gathering outreach in gathering that funds can be here to help many many people this year let us bow our heads together father under god we thank you so much for the privilege to be co-laborers together with jesus christ we thank you for the humanitarian work that you have given to the church to go out in the highways and byways through a ministry of health and healing through welfare and humanitarian charity work and in the ministry of education and all these things to help to empower and uplift people we commit this program to you and we pray that every member will be involved and great success will crown this work to the glory of god in jesus name amen [Music] [Music] it is always always with joy i look forward each week as we come to share with you some of the things that are happening here at headquarters and i just want to thank god for is keeping care and his tender mercies towards us as a people we continue to make mention of the kovit 19 pandemic and continue to ask our people not to relax the protocol because the variants that we're having are more deadly than the ones before and i have seen many many individuals dying because of this covet situation and so i ask my people i ask my people here in studio always remember that the covet is a reality and we cannot afford to slack up on the protocols because it is about life and death i want to continue to share with you some of the updates that happens and each week i share one or two of the departments this morning i want to start with the sabbath school and personal ministry department and i can say as the song says pastor cunningham lead on o king eternal the day of march has come and yes for for months we have been planning for this series we know that the cover is here but it should not prevent ministry from taking place and so this morning we are happy to put in place this wonderful principle of salvation that will come from some of our leading lay preachers ellen white says that the work will never be finished until those compressed and members of the church hold hands with the the clergy of the church so we're happy to know that here at headquarters there's a good relationship with the clergy and the laity as we do mission and ministry together and i just want to say through the department of personal minister school and personal ministry that this is a department where training never ends and we continue through the school of evangelism and yes we have been training since this year and come this afternoon i'm sure that some of those who have been students will have their certificate of completion of the special courses that they have been doing and so this morning i just want to thank god for this the different departmental leaders i now move to the youth department and we have a dynamic you director pastor shaw pastor sugar is doing a tremendous job with the young people east jamaica conference is prepared to invest in the life of our young people because we know that they are going to be taking the button to the next leg of the journey and we want to commend you know there were days when they say that the center must leg of the journey was always being left behind but i'm pleased to tell you that starting november 10 there's going to be a very special series of evangelism through the eu department zone four federation we'll be having what a special program that zone four been doing yes they're saying no retreat no turning back we are going to be preaching and we have selected several of our great young people who will be preaching starting october 10. offer to you pastor foster shaw we want you to know that east jamaica conference will back all our young people over there in saint thomas well we need to let you know that east jamaica conference subscribe to youth in leadership month and starting month of october as usual the ken cut church will be having our young people shadowing the different leaders within the church the elders the summer school teachers the lay preachers they will be starting for the month of october but for the youth department the rest of youth department will be having the month of november as our youth in leadership month what is ut leadership month this is where the all the leaders step back and give the young people a chance to try their leadership skills and we are grateful to god for what is happening pastor steele november is our leadershi the skills in leadership month but at kencott we started in october and so god will bless the church as we adopted a different kind of leadership strategy pastor steele our health director wants me to let you know that entire october is about health i want to live healthily and there are some special world days in october we have world mental health day october 10 and october 11 world anti-obesity day where those of us who are getting too fat will have to make an effort to deal with that because we know that the individuals are dying from non-communicable diseases the ones you don't catch from anybody but these are the ones because of your lifestyle that you are a number of individuals are dying each year for these non-communicable diseases so pastor steele we will be with you for the month of october looking at the different ways and means that we can use the the different means that god has put in place in in in nature so that we can live healthy today we want to commend the community service department of the conference and today we are launching harvesting is now known as in gathering while we harvest we are in gathering and we are saying it is in the month of november in the month of october every year this time that we encourage the membership of our church to share the concept of ministry with your friends and neighbors we have had to adjust the way we do in gathering there are days when our young people will go out in cairns with cancer and collect on the roadside but we have learned from the government that we don't want our young people to start too early in child labor and so we have cut out that portion of it that leaves the seniors now to take part in in gathering and we're saying all that it takes is that during the time when we cannot go from place to place talk to your friends your neighbors your co-workers and ask them to share with you this concept of using our resources to bless the community yes we use as pastor cunningham told you a while ago thousands of dollars for health evangelism and for health emphasis and we also look forward to help in education thousands of dollars we involved a use to involve ourselves in education but more so we do a lot of community services and that is why i joined pastor cultural in saying that one of the aspects of community service is what we want to launch since last week and continue to emphasize in its food bank yes what is a food bank it is a means of gathering stuff getting food so that we can share with the needy in our community yes you can make annual contribution you can make weekly contribution you can make monthly contribution as you give ties an offering put a little aside and put food back on it it will be used to share with individuals who are less fortunate and so we want to commend all the individuals who have been helping us to keep the virtual church alive yes we commend our technical team our production team but you are friends out there in cyberspace you have been giving us off your offering to make the virtual church remain on air continue no matter how small the gift may be we appreciate and the song says little is much when god is in it continue to give off your means so that the gospel can go from place to place thank you see you next week same time same place as we give you updates and what happens here at headquarters at ejc may god bless you as we share in this series when the laymen begin today to spread the gospel share it with your friends and neighbors so that they can come and taste and see that the lord is good amen and and actually that's our main business today you see ladies and gentlemen brothers and sisters thank you mr president because the god has given the church one job go ye therefore into all the world and make disciples through preaching through various means by which we share the gospel and i am very happy to know that today we can officially announce and invite you to participate in the christ his cross and his soon coming evangelistic series which begins now which will be led by three of our anointed preachers of righteousness praise god evangelist noel jump one of our most outstanding lay evangelist also evangelist dr noel morgan evangelist basil powell these are not pastors but they are men whom god has chosen and called and put his holy spirit upon them and together with the massive team of individuals that we're going to be having all across king son and saint andrew and saint thomas members are coming together and we are moving now into a massive assault against the kingdom of hell and the gates of hell god says shall not prevail praise god i'm so happy to invite you to share your neighbors you see these three men are part of the association calls called the lay evangelistic association of east jamaica conference this is an association where every member can be involved as a lay evangelist using the talent and the gift that god has given you to bless the work of god and you what god says god says as you go lo i am with you always even to the end of the world i want to call my leader from the union again to come and officially declare open this evangelistic series into which we all will be involved over the month of october from now until the end of this month pastor adrian cottrell one of the ways to maximize the evangelistic outreach of the conference and to share christ with the nation is through the lay evangelistic association and it is my joy and privilege this morning to be here to officially launch this evangelistic association and the christ the cross and his coming campaign i pray that god will use this campaign to bring many individuals to the saving knowledge of our lord and savior jesus christ and i pray that you will give your full support to these three great evangelists and that you will support the campaign and as we declare the second coming of christ my prayer is that many more souls will be born for the kingdom in jesus name i pray amen amen pastor is going to pray pastor is going to pray i want you to pray where you are we have a lot of praying going on all over god is ready to outpour his holy spirit and every sabbath every saturday nine o'clock in the morning until 5 30 we'll be with you over this month every day in the evenings from 6 30 you come join us because 6 30 to 8 30 we'll be preaching the word of god and worshiping the health ministries everybody special features will be involved and i want you to invite your neighbor and let us use this opportunity to register souls for the kingdom of god this afternoon you're going to see hundreds of people graduating from our bible study program and many other interesting features plus please pray and consecrate this program okay let us bow our heads eternal god and our heavenly father great is your name and greatly to be praised we thank you for spirit lives we thank you for your provision and for your protection particularly doing during this time of pandemic we confess our sins to you and we seek for your forgiveness lord you are the one who has given us the great commission to preach the eternal gospel and to call men and women to a saving knowledge of our lord and savior jesus christ and i pray for a very special blessing upon this campaign the christ the cross and his coming amen i pray lord that you will unite the hearts of the brethren amen as they work together in sharing christ with the community anoint your man's servants these three great evangelists and i pray oh lord that as they present the word men and women will see the need of accepting christ as their lord and savior from sin we pray that a new day will dawn in the east jamaica conference yes i pray that many souls will come to know jesus as their lord and savior from sin amen and we pray lord that you will use this campaign to help men and women to recognize that any moment now we will see christ coming in the clouds with power and with great glory we leave this campaign now in your care and in your keeping in jesus name we pray amen amen amen amen amen i am very very excited today to have represented zones zone 1 west those are the churches of north street and arnold road yes and can cut and greenwich and whitfield town and i may not remember all of them off my head but i am so happy that we have been able to participate in the sabbath school this morning as we launch our lea program so just to summarize a little bit of what we did and then to close out cyber school i just want to remind us that the book of deuteronomy is one of the most important books to study the fundamental principles of god's covenant with his people israel is his love which occurs in this book god's love for his people israel and law israel's love in response to god's love and the same way that israel responded we are expected to respond today as a new israel as we wait for the coming of the lord and the final call to the new jerusalem so just to remind us also that from the study we did today we learned that god's love is not a sentiment it is intense authentic and infinite because of his love god created this universe and because of that same love he entered this world to save us coming in the form of a human being in the person of christ jesus what we therefore not to love and honor and adore and serve him that's a question that we encourage you to think about i want to say thanks to all of the participants of our sabbath school this morning all of the children especially i'm always excited when i see the children engaged and especially when the boys are leading out and it was very good for us this morning thank you also to all of the other members from the various churches who participated our our service school panel and everyone else who worked in the background to make our sabbath school work today so thank you also very much and i just want to close in prayer so bow your heads with me as we pray mighty god and our heavenly father we thank you that you are indeed a god of love we thank you for the word that you've given us today through the sabbath school and we ask oh god that we will contemplate these words and as we as we go through the history of israel and try to understand how that relates to us today in the com ensuing months through the quarter that we will learn and understand and get come to know you and there are many out there lord we are aware who need to know jesus because so many persons are dying lord and go into a christless grave and we pray jesus for the success of this series and we pray that many souls will be won for your kingdom we thank you lord for the opportunity that you give us to be a part of it and we pray lord for a very special anointing on our evangelists and we pray that the greatest of success will be granted to us we pray also for our in gathering that the people will understand the need that we all have in our churches and in our communities to help people and that will also be a success we thank you god for this opportunity thank you god for this virtual church that is reaching the world far and wide so that your kingdom can be reached and we will all go who have in our hearts decided that this is the way that we will go as you have sent us lord and to reach many people baptizing them in the name of the father son and holy spirit in jesus name we pray amen maribel you will agree with me [Music] maribel you will agree with me that it's been an exciting morning so far yes i would definitely say that we definitely want to give a great shout out to our of god does amaze us why does he love us so why why and so today on the opening day of our la series we're happy to know you're with us today and all those on the various platforms who are worshiping with us we recognize lord that you have brought them to this place these platforms to listen to us today no doubt you have a message for them no doubt you will use your word to the going to the hearts of your people in ways and in different ways that we have never experienced before i know lord that you have been preparing all of us and so at this time i invite the congregation to bowl your heads with me as we pray kind father in heaven we thank you for the opportunity to speak your word who are we to call your name but we are mindful of the fact that you have said to us that your grace is sufficient for us in fact it does amaze us so lord as we present this message today attend it take it to the hearts of your people pierce all of us with your love and at the end of our service today we all will be able to say to god be the glory great things he hath done we will be with you for the next four weeks and i am confident the lord will be blessing us as we study his word today we'll be looking at a topic which sometimes when you look at it you may wonder what is it about the topic is god about god but the i'm gonna use the candidate god that's the topic today the candidate god as we think about the candidate we realize that in life there are situations when two people are up for an office and i want you to think about this as a backdrop of our message today one night one night a very important leader was having a last supper with his disciples and at the end of the supper as they went out towards as they went towards the mount of olives as they were talking this gentleman spoke to his disciples and he said to them before this night is finished all you will of will be offended because of me and one who was considered to be their spokesman said these words though all men shall be offended because of the yet will i never be offended this particular spokesman was one who was well known for his eloquence is his abruptness sometimes his brashness is protest petulance all those words have been used to describe this particular disciple and he said though all men may be offended of you i will not be offended but this great leader responded and said as a matter of fact before the crows you will deny me thrice and this person felt that he was in control of his life verily i say unto you that this night before the cockroach thou shalt deny me thrice no doubt this disciple would have felt offended that his master could have uttered these words no doubt he felt that he was not known by his master but history tells us that before the night ended indeed the prophecy came to pass so we look at that as a backdrop and we consider the fact that people have admitted they need wisdom outside of themselves in order to fathom their being what am i talking about no doubt that disciple would have wondered how could i have done this when he denied his lord three times how could i have done this why did i do this clearly he didn't know himself and so that's why we need a wisdom a source of wisdom outside of ourselves to know ourselves and as we consider this we realize that many many in the historical sense without us believe that there's no superior being the late stephen william hawkins made a statement and this man was a very very what you would call qualified academic academic he was an englishman a theoretical physicist a cosmologist an author and he was past professor of mathematics at university of cambridge for 30 years 1979 tonight to 2009. listen to what he said to the spanish newspaper el mundo in october 2014 he used his words before we understand science it is it is natural to believe that god created the universe are you with me today before we understand science he says it is natural for us to think that god created the universe but now science offers a more convincing explanation how could science really and truly offer a more convincing explanation than the god who made us science how do we define science one very imminent person says is a methodical study of the structure and behavior of the real world through observation and experiment and this came from walton reed master philosophy in material sciences a young lecturer in basic medical sciences at university is not retired but he still lectures at university of the west indies he tells us that science is based on observation really an experiment but how can we observe something that doesn't exist where did it come from and so god wants us to realize that even as walton went to the antarctica and he walked there we realize that walton is a real man walton is a scientist and so today he has defined the word signs for us speaking continuing the quote from the late stephen hawkins to the spanish newspaper el mundo he said he wrote a book many books but this book in particular a brief history of time he suggested that a unifying theory of science would help mankind know the mind of god as we look at this we decided to look at the word theory and find the definition for it in the oxford pocket dictionary it is it says theory is speculative fanciful especially fanciful view or it is an abstract knowledge of speculative thought and that's why we said it's all well and good but let us see it in action and so we look at theory in a certain context but scientists see theory in a different way theory in science to the scientists a theory is a carefully thought-out explanation for observations of the natural world that has been constructed using the scientific method and which brings together many facts and hypotheses what am i saying scientists seem to look at theory in a different context than us but watch this as we continue what does hypothesis mean it is an idea that we can test with further scientific observation and to observe means to see to look to study and so what are we going to study if we are not going to look at something which is already in existence so where did the world come from did it come out of nothing from nowhere where did it come and so as we come to the bible we realize that professor hawkins he continued to speak he says what i meant is we would know everything that god would know if there were a god which there isn't i am an atheist imagine words spoken by someone who was so educated he said there is no god he is an atheist religion believes in miracles but these aren't compatible with science there is no aspect of reality beyond the reach of the human mind the human mind he was establishing the human human mind as a standard and as we look at this religion believes in miracles but they aren't compatible with science there is no aspect of reality beyond the reach of the human mind but where did the human mind come from what is the human mind and so bbc science there is a question that is asked on bbc science it says what is psychology and the definition is it is the science of the mind psychology is a science of the mind the human mind is the most complex machine on earth it is a source of all thought and behavior we cannot see someone thinking and i want us to look at the word we meaning the human race but is there anyone who can see persons thinking is there anyone who can see me thinking consider it to the natural man to the man who is has no connection with god to th this seems impossible but as we look at the bible our textbook is the bible and the bible is the one that will tell us something today the source of our mind second timothy 1 verse 7 says for god has not given us the spirit of fear but of power and of love and of a sound mind who gave us the mind god who made our mind god yet science would tell us that there is no god today first kings chapter 8 verse 39 solomon had constructed the most beautiful edifice a temple to the unknown glory of god and while the temple was being dedicated solomon was praying and this is a part of his prayer he is addressing the prayer to god first kings 8 39 he says then hear thou in heaven thy dwelling place and forgive undo and give to every man according to his ways then he continued whose heart thou knowest in the bible there are contexts in which the word heart means the mind and we're going to prove it in a moment for thou even thou only knows the hearts or minds of all the children of men solomon made a profound statement only god knows the heart or mind of man we are told that god gave us a sound mind it is god who knows the thoughts of our hearts and as we continue we realize that god likes to demonstrate in clear distinctive tones how powerful he is so when jesus was here mark chapter 2 verse 6 he had just performed the miracle to heal a man who who was who had the palsy and people who are there who were who who were the teachers the scribes and the pharisees the bible says in mark chapter 2 verse 6 but there were certain of the scribes sitting there and reasoning in their hearts one reasons with his heart in this context it is the mind it is the mind that is being engaged and reasoning in their hearts and so they were asking the question who can forgive sin in their hearts what the bible tells us in in mark chapter 2 verse 8 jesus and immediately when jesus perceived in his spirit that they saw reason with themselves he said unto them why reason is these things in your hearts so your heart in this context is your mind we think with our mind and god says the definition found of the mind says we cannot think we cannot see anyone thinking but god can see us thinking god knows our thoughts god knows what we're thinking even now and so when science and scientists would believe that there's no god it is not true because god can read our mind and i want you to get that quite clearly because god is omniscient god knows everything the uh he knows the end before the beginning and the middle and the sideways everything god knows so the question is asks who is god who is god job chapter 11 verse 7 says can't stop by searching find out god can still find out the almighty god is asking this question to his servant job that's what the bible tells us in genesis 1 verse 1 in the beginning god created the heaven on the earth when god did this he then would be classified as the creator scientists in the 20th century concluded that the universe consists of a number of things time for example space mata gravity energy all these things are components of the universe it took scientists 20 centuries to find out that the universe consists of time space gravity matter but in the first book the first verse of the bible it says in the beginning god created the heaven on the earth it in the beginning means time they have now the earth there's space and there's mata and then the bible tells us in the book of psalms 33 and verse 9 the bible says he commanded by the breath of the lord what have was made and all the oaths of them he spake and it was done he command and it stood fast so we know gravity is there also we find the book of colossians where the bible says in jesus all things consists so as we think of this in the first verse of the bible he god stated that there was there is time there's space there's mata and it took the so-called great minds scientific minds in the human race to find this out in the 20th century and many of us believe that there is no god time space and matter are a continuum god cannot be affected by time space or matter since he created them he existed before them and is outside of them so when man wants to use standards which god is bigger than to judge god they are wrong the existence of god to question it and so this outstanding baptist preacher shadrach meshach lockridge what's his name shadrach meshach lockridge great baptist preacher he lived from 20 from 1913 to the year 2000 in one of his sermons he was asked a question where did god come from listen to his response god had nowhere to come from so he stood on nothing since there was nothing on which to stand standing on nothing he reached out where there was nowhere to reach and caught something when there was nothing to catch and hung something on nothing and told it to stay there covered when god is about to do his thing it is only god who is able to do it he came from nowhere and he stood on nothing come on church what a guy to god we serve he stood on nothing he reached out where there was nowhere to reach and caught something when there was nothing to catch and say stare what a god this particular conclusion is based on job chapter 26 verse 7. the bible says he stretched out the north over the empty place and watched me now and hung the earth on nothing if you want to think there's no god if you want to believe that there's somebody else other than god to whom you should pledge your allegiance watch this now psalm chapter 90 and verse 2. the bible says before the mountains were brought forth however those form the earth and the world even from everlasting to everlasting the word god everlasting is beyond time we cannot fathom everlasting we cannot fathom the true meaning of the word everlasting we cannot fathom the true meaning of the word infinite we are finite beings but god is an infinite being he has no beginning he has no end and yet men without us think there's no god oh romans 11 verse 33 oh the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of god how unsearchable are his judgments and his ways past finding out can't stop by search and find out god and the answer is no we cannot god has to reveal himself to man god has to reveal himself to man how does he does it how does he do it by his works and by his words and in different ways we're going to look at works and words today the bible says in exodus chapter 20 and verse 11 for in six days the lord made the heaven and the earth the sea and all that in them is everything that is here god made it they didn't come here by chance god loves variety look at the flowers god has incredible variety and diversity in nature at his creation god did all these things and then god created a thing called dna dna is often compared to a set of blueprints or a recipe since it contains instructions needed to construct other components of cells so dna is what turns on the rest of what needs to be constructed it contains the biological instructions that make each species unique dna is there any man who could have thought of dna he had to discover it and it took him hundreds thousands of years in order to discover it but god made dna so that there would be different species there is approximately 8.7 million species of plants and animals in the world as that according to the bbc article by richard black on the 23rd of the 8th 2011. can you imagine man has been so destructive to the creation that man has destroyed so many plants and animals over the centuries that now there are only 8.7 million left 8.7 million different species wrap your head around that where did that come from did we come here by evolution no way did we come of evolution genesis chapter 2 verse 7 puts that to rest the bible says and the lord god formed man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his natural breath of life and man became a living soul god made you god made me and so where did i come from i came from the hand of my creator god the loving hand of god the loving mind of god and so god loves variety all different ethnicity we are represented by different ethnic groups the black men the white men the indian man the mongolian the japanese they look different but we all are part of the family of god the bible says it is in him we live and move another being our god is a god of variety so if you are black don't worry about trying to bleach your skin to become any other color god made you black you must be proud of your color whether you're a white black pink car blue this morning as we study god's word isaiah chapter 55 verses 8 and 9 says to us for my thoughts are not your thoughts neither are your ways my ways listen to this church say the lord as the heavens as are higher than the earth so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts your thoughts what a mighty god we serve i am glad that his ways are higher than mine i am glad that his thoughts are higher than mine so that i can aspire to be like god and so today he said in isaiah 45 5 i am the lord and there is none else there is no god beside me anything else that is called god is false deuteronomy 29 29 add something to this mix it says the secret things belong to the lord or god but those things which are revealed belong to us and to our children forever notice the secret things belong to god we cannot find everything out about god i'm married for home teen years and i still am learning about my wife so but now friends if god is infinite and and my wife is finite and i can't learn everything about her oh can i learn everything about god it is that which keeps us interested in the relationship it is that which keeps us focused on god because god is revealing something new to us every day and that's why the songwriter says every day when jesus is sweeter than the day before virgin and friends psalm 14 1 says the fool had said in his heart there is no god only a man who would think that is bigger than god that would say that but nevertheless what we find and listen to the church what we find is that god is being removed from the center of the society god and his ideals and his standards are slowly but surely being removed from the central place that it should occupy and so god finds himself being denied being betrayed god finds himself on the periphery of the world of fears and so listen to isaiah chapter 65 verse 1 it is coming from the heart of concern that man is exiling god as it were god said i am sort of them that acts not for me i am fond of them that sought me not i said behold me behold me unto a nation that was not called by my name look at me god is saying behold means to look look at me look at me look at me i'm here you are you are ignoring me you are setting me aside you are putting me out of the centrality of your life look at me look at me here i am here and i pause for a moment do you know that in our own personal experiences what we have found is that there are times when we are ignored by people who we love ignored by people who don't even know that we exist but we look at them and we see something in them that we admire and we long we long to be seen by this person and those of us who have ever had a girlfriend or a boyfriend when we when we were interested in that particular person we do everything to attract the person we will walk past that person in order for him or her to see us virgin and friends god is saying listen i have behold me behold me i want you to see me i want you to realize that i'm still here i'm still the candidate for your heart i want you to know even in joshua's day there was a choice between good and evil there's a choice between god and false gods because i've been led the children of israel out of egyptian bondage and brought them into the promised land there was still a controversy between god and baal virginia and friends and so they came to joshua and joshua said if it seemed evil unto you to serve the lord choosy this day who you will serve whether you will serve the gods of the amorites in whose land you live but i wanna tell you as for me and my house we will serve the lord joshua put god first god was put in a centrally in god's god was put centrally in joshua's life this is where god wants to be he's a candidate for hearts this world has leaders of many types you have business leaders you have people who are leading scientists there are people who lead in politics there are people who lead in the office they're in the departmental heads there are people who plan this program and we had a structure leaders of many types but they are politicians too and politicians want us to look at their image politicians wants us to look at their reputation they want us to consider their credibility and their integrity in in short politicians want us to think of their character when we are to vote for them they want to tell us all kinds of things about themselves look at me look at me i am the candidate i'm the right one for the job so when he was campaigning the late right honorable mike unmanly said better must come one day he said that in his 70s those of us who are young enough to remember he said better must come one day he depicted them himself as joshua using a rod of correction then when we come a little later on in life we found the right honorable poster simpson miller she campaigned and come to mama posha come to mama porsha and then persons like the lead dwight eisenhower he campaigned on the achievements that he had accomplished in world war ii the late jfk campaigned on the on the dynamism of youth and then the great the the president barack obama he said yes we can and people bought into that particular slogan recognizing that there were higher heights to which they could climb but god is competing for our attention it is sad to say but it is true god is competing for our attention isaiah chapter 1 verse 3 says the ox knows its owner and they ask his master's crib but israel does not know my people does not consider what a statement an ox north is his owner and on us and people are not are not amused when we compare them to us and god says asses know their masters crib but israel does not know my people do not know and so isaiah continues in verse 5 he will revolt more and more the whole head is sick and all the whole head is sick and the word heart faint our priorities are in the wrong places so god wants to get our attention and so god to the prophet jeremiah made this statement because israel was a rebellious people and the people of the world eight billion people in the world now we are mainly rebellious people we are not willing to listen to what god says we are not willing to live according to god's way of life we want to go after our own devices they said it in as in jeremiah's day and people are still saying it no we will there is no hope we will walk after our own devices but listen to this because man wants to walk after his own devices there is a philosophy called humanism humanism is a philosophical stance that emphasizes the potential and agency of human beings individually and socially it considers human beings as a starting point for serious moral and philosophical inquiry what a statement what a concept it considers human beings as a starting point for serious moral and philosophical inquiry man when we established at the beginning that peter didn't even know that he would deny jesus and when he did it he must have wondered how could i have done that how can you establish a standard and morality based on a fallen nature it cannot work it will never work humanist movements are typically non-religious there are movements aligned with secularism and today humanism may refer to a non-feast the non-theistic lifestyle centered on human agency and looking to science and reason rather than revelation from a supernatural source to understand the world are you hearing my church they want us to depend on science and reason science and reason have no answer science and reason will lead us astray we need to stand under thus say the lord we need to reach to the god of our salvation this morning as we continue we realize that we the human when the humanists want to rely on technology we want reliance financial gains we think that military weaponry will take care of things we believe that our medical capabilities are are so good but we can't even control a virus we want because we have invented artificial intelligence so we are so great to the humanist he feels that man can take care of himself man will be able to solve his own problem but if we don't know ourselves and we need wisdom outside of our being to understand ourselves how can we solve our own problem the problems are bigger than us no one of the psalmist said in psalm 146 verse 3 put not your thrust put not your trust in princes nor in the son of man in whom there is no help the psalmist then says i will lift up mine eyes onto the hills for whence cometh my health my help coming from the lord who made heaven on earth that is the source of our help jeremiah 2 verse 5 without us think thus saith the lord god is still trying to attract us god the candidate is still trying to worse through through jeremiah he said what inequity of your fathers found in me that they are gone far from me and have walked after vanity and become vain what a statement god is saying and as in germa in isaiah 65 he says behold me behold me he's longing to be seen to be noticed and then in jeremiah he says what inequity what sin of your fathers found in me and that particular sin or inequity that you found in me would have would have would have formed the basis on which for you to go astray so that you can walk after vanity look at what i have done for you i gave you breath i'm the one who said in job 34 38 verse 4 says where was thou when i laid the foundations of the earth where were you do you know who i am who shut up who shot up the sea with doors when it break forth do you know me do you really know me behold me what have i done i am the one who made the sea for you to even walk on the beach i am the one who made oxygen for you to breathe do you even know how you were conceptualized do you know you were conceived one sperm and one egg came together and when they were when they came together they just started to multiply two two cells started to multiply you watch the process watch the process and they started to multiply and then there were two and then there were twenty and there were millions and then all of a sudden you see something looking like a david cowan church veterinary fans will look at this the bible wants us to understand psalm 139 verse 15 says my substance was not hid from thee when i was made in secret before every person is watching on this platform or listening before you were born god saw the process that i just showed you on the screen that would have brought you into existence you didn't come here by chance you didn't come here by accident god had a design for your life the bible continues thine eyes psalm 139 verse 16 then eyes did see my substance yet being unperfect and i am going slowly because i want it to sink in every person listening watching who will see this in the future the process i just showed you is all you came about oh i came about and the bible says god's eyes saw my substance even when it was unperfect god knew exactly when my parents would have had what they had in order to have me so write it down friends in thy book the bible says all my members were written my eyes my ears my cheeks my intestines my stomach the pancreatic juice that is within me the bile all these things god knew are you with me church are you with me today jeremiah 1 verse 5 makes this profound statement before i form thee in the belly i knew you god what are you saying what are you saying god from everlasting to everlasting the word god and i was born in the 20th century and you are telling me that before you found me in the belly you knew me what a god what a god we are special to god we are considered to be the apple of his eye what secularism bellows to us listen to what the secularism and people say about secularity it says secularism is a spiritual tendency a system a political or a sort of philosophy that rejects all forms of religion all forms of religious faith and worship watch this now we will present a message on tuesday night it is going to be entitled the politics of religion you listen for that message but watch this tonight this morning it says a system of political or social philosophy that rejects all forms of religious faith and worship you see when i said that man is trying to put god on the periphery and eventually to get rid of god as a matter of fact in the 1960s there was a movement that said god was dead i was alive then so i've heard it britain and friends they commit all kinds of things to get man's mind away from god the the secularists believe that that that public education other and other matters of civil policy should be conducted without the introduction of a religious element and it is religion that tells us about god that is from bbc wwb www.britannica.com secularism is any movement in society directed away from other worldliness to life on earth now this is profound secularism wants to direct our thoughts away from other worldliness meanings meaning that there is no other place there is no other god there is no heaven there is no heaven there is no evil so live for now and that's why we get slogans like live for now because slogans like if it feels good do it and they tell us there's only one life you have to live so leave it now i do not have one life to live i have to because by god's grace i live in this world but he's preparing me to live in the world to come so secularism wants us not to think that there is another world and so there's a songwriter this world which one once said this world is not my own i am just a passing through my treasures are lit up somewhere belong beyond the blue and so secularism wants to wipe that out of my mind he want and so there it took to be lie let me use word again to belie the philosophy of secularism john 6 38 says jesus utter these words for i came down from heaven what that means if i came down the opposite of down is up watch this now acts 1 11 jesus is leaving after his resurrection he says he is leaving and so two men two angels appeared among his disciples and said ye man of galilee why standing gazed up into heaven this same jesus which is taken up from you into heaven so come in like man as you have seen him go and yet the secularist thought and philosophical basis is to tell us that there is no other world no heaven no place to aspire to live forever live for now if it feels good do it open your mind these are subliminal messages and direct messages which are trying to blast god from the centrality of our existence we know from the bible that there is a heaven and the bible tells us that jesus came down from it and the bible tells us that when he had accomplished his work he went up i am aspiring to join him one of these days candidates make policy statements and great promises i have been through a number of political campaign series as i said the late no mike and manly said better must come one day and then as we look out there they make promises i'm going to fix your roads i'm gonna make new hospitals i'm gonna give you more accommodation i'm gonna make more houses i'm gonna make sure that the educational system works that there's connectivity that people can use the net when when there's a pandemic they can just study from whom all kinds of promises but do they live up to those promises the god who we serve the candidate god has a future vision a vision for your life and mind as a matter of fact he ties down and hits on the head of the nail the problem that exists he said in isaiah chapter 59 verses one and two the hand of the lord is not short that it cannot save neither is his ear heavy that he cannot hear but it is so inequities that separate us from god so god says we have a mind problem we our heads are are sick we like we are we stray when oxen and us know their master we have a problem with our mind he gave us a sound mind but sin has destroyed and is destroying and is distorting our minds so since there's a problem with our minds in ezekiel chapter 36 verse 26 god says his future vision is based on this a new heart a new mind also i will give you and a new spirit i will put inside you and i will take away your stony heart of flesh out of your flesh and i will give you a heart of flesh i will take away this tony heart out of your flesh and i will give you a heart of flesh he wants to transform you he wants you to be a different person god transforms people from the inside out john the son of thunder when when he was on the the ministry field with jesus one day some men didn't didn't believe in jesus and some men he they thought that these men were given trouble and john said should i have called on fire to destroy them but before john was finished in his life he was known as a disciple that wrote more about love and the love of god than anything god transformed john from the inside out then there was david the adulterer the murderer and before god was finished with him god described him as a man after his own heart he says i will give you a new heart saul of tarsus was destroying god's people he was persecuted and killing christians he was on his way to damascus and when he met jesus on the road to damascus he said jesus said to him saul saul why prosecutors tell me he was going down to damascus to kill the barn and born but when he was struck down by jesus he asked you as a question lord who are you and paul said the lord says i am jesus who you are persecuting it is hard to kick against the pricks saul don't you understand who i am and then saul said lord what will they'll have me to do and saul now paul wrote a lot of the books in the new testament books which tell us about jesus and his love and so god is able to transform so god is saying i'm going to set up a kingdom there is which is a transformational kingdom at a transplant of your heart your mind that is then he says when all these kings that are in charge of the world now a day is going to come when in the days of these kings daniel 2 44 the god of heaven shall set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed and it shall stand forever this kingdom of god is going to stand forever jeremiah 23 verse 5 says be all the days come say the lord that i will raise up unto david as righteous branch and a king shall reign and prosper and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth god is going to establish a kingdom based on justice no inequality no corruption a kingdom where right is right and wrong is wrong you are not going to believe that somebody does something wrong and gets away with it it will be a kingdom of justice and judgment isaiah chapter 60 verse 18 gives us on a view of god's future vision he said violence shall no more be heard in thailand wasting no destruction within that borders he says the wolf isaiah 65 verse 25 the wolf and the lamb shall feed together and the lion shall eat straw like the bullock peace on earth do you remember when jesus was was born when the angels appeared to the shepherds he says glory to god in the highest and on earth peace good will toward men luke chapter 2 god sees in his future vision for you and for me a time of peace on earth isaiah 63 verse 9 adds to it it says in all the affliction he was afflicted we want our leaders to be able to understand what is happening with us god says all our affliction he is aware of the angel of his presence saved them and in his love and in his pity he redeemed them that is the kind of god i want that's the kind of candidate i want to vote for it says for we have nothing high priest hebrews 4 verse 15 which cannot be taught when you feel for infirmities god knows and feels and understands and so his vision is his kingdom is going to be a loving compassionate leadership he is going to provide that do you want to be led by a god like that do you want to have a candidate for whom to vote like that john 10 verse 10 says i am come that they might have life and that they might have it more abundantly he wants to give us abundant life revelation 21 verse 4 describes it thus and god shall wipe away all tears from their eyes and there shall be no more death neither sorrow nor crying there's neither shall there be any more pain for the former things are passed away lord have mercy what a god what a candidate to vote for somebody who's telling me no more sickness no more dead no more crying no mercy yesterday i went to i went to bury my cousin he is young he was younger than myself i didn't expect to bury him i thought he would bury me god says when we agree for our loved ones and i know many while listening and watching today have been affected by this pandemic your members of your family have been affected some have lived some have not made it god is saying my future vision that i have for you is that i'm gonna wipe away all the tears from your eyes and i'm gonna remove death and sorrow not crying neither there be any more pain lord are you telling me there's nothing going to be a bok tour are you telling me that not even a makkah is going to joke me that's god's vision for you the candidate god no wonder he said these words in john 3 verse 16 for god so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but of what church everlasting life do you want everlasting life so the bible tells us quite clearly what jesus did on calvary and so jesus made a statement on calvary he revealed his intention at calvary when he said it is done it is finished the plan of salvation was signed sealed and delivered and jesus is saying this is my future vision for you to give you a better place to live and so he says in isaiah 6 55 or 6 seek in the lord while he may be found call upon him while he is near watch this second corinthians 6 2 admonishes us be all now is the time be all now is a day of salvation god who is speaking to you the candidate who is speaking to you this morning saying i want you to choose me now today for what shall it prophet a man to gain the whole world and lose his own soul and the next verse says oh what allah man give in exchange for his soul he's god worthy of my vote revelation 3 and verse 20 says behold i stand at the door and knock if anyone hear my voice and open the door i will come into him and will stop with him and he with me imagine jesus is saying i'm standing at your door and i'm knocking i have the power to come in you know why i know that for sure when jesus had died and went to heaven and came back the evening of that sunday his disciples were in the upper room and all of a sudden they saw jesus appear in the midst of them he didn't come to any door he didn't come to any window jesus can just come into your house without even opening a door and he says i stand at your door and knock he's telling me that he he values my choice to open the door but he's wooing me hear the voice of god the candidate what is he saying your choice matters i want you to choose me vote for me today vote for me today vote for me i am a god of compassion i'm a god of mercy and you remember the grace of god the mercy and grace of god is given to you and to me today vote for me and then he's saying please pretty please as i close he makes some other statements which are profound matthew 28 verse 20 lo i am with you alway even until the end of the world and the bible says whosoever comes to me i will in no wise cast out i will never leave you nor forsake you even your mother your father put you down i will take you up what a god what a candidate to for whom i should vote matthew 28 verse 20 as we read i'm going to pass a movement and so we look we look at the milky way as we close this is a picture of the of the milky way it's approximately the milky way galaxy is approximately 200 billion stars are in the milky way galaxy it is approximately 200 billion light years wide now light travels at 187 000 miles per second and the size of this milky way galaxy we look at it look at the size of this galaxy and i'm showing you where earth is if we were a little bit further from the sun we would freeze if we're nearer we would melt god put us at the right place to see him we are in his hands wearing his hands today virgin and friends one light year is approximately like troubles in a year 9.5 trillion kilometers or 6 trillion miles in one year it's a light year so the vastness of the universe the vastness of the milky way galaxy from intergalactic space god calls to you today i am the candidate for whom you should vote i am the candidate i love you choose me i am the candidate i know the thoughts i think towards you thoughts of peace to give you an expected end i love you with an everlasting love jeremiah 31 verse 3 he says yey i have loved you with an everlasting love therefore with love and kindness have i drawn you god's love god is love god is love god is saying this god who loves you today this god who is saying i am the candidate for whom i i wish you to vote i i will never force your choice i am trying to get your attention i want you to understand that i love you with an everlasting love and with love and kindness have i drawn thee i love you i love you i have a future prepared for you i want you in my kingdom listen to this listen to this [Music] [Music] i'm working with decide today there is no god some may say but believing this is not really okay for he made you and me and all there is he loves us so much and acknowledges us as his yet we put him in second place or give him no place at all and try to ignore him whenever he may call but he continues to wait until we hopefully see the light so he can rescue us from our current plight his coming is soon though we know not the date so will you accept him before it's too late amen that was beautiful maribel you are supremely talented god is working amen god indeed will take care of us he's the
