OMG the Halo TV Show IS ACTUALLY DOING IT

right my friends I'm about to say something a little extreme a little Avant guard the Halo TV show just did something that was for the most part actually kind of cool and I feel weird even saying that let's talk about episode 7 don't worry it starts off rather sillly if that's even a word but there's one segment of this episode that I was genuinely surprised about that I thought at least I thought was pretty cool so let's begin so this is the penultimate episode of the TV show and it opens with everyone's favorite Power couple Christ almighty Master Chief and Marquee in some blessed one artifact Vision on the Halo and Mary reveals that she saw this place in her dreams as a child because of course she's a blessed one she believes that she can convince the Covenant to actually not use use the Halo to exterminate humanity and instead use it to Build a Better World I don't know about that one Chief good luck with that one but very quickly after that they get snapped out of the vision and we're back on the Arbiter ship where the elites are believe it or not still fighting I did not expect to see any more of this again the Mutiny on the orbitor ship is very cool to see it's cool seeing Elites fighting in live action when I'm not too sold on the Armor Designs of the Elites in this show but the animation is really good so that plays into it but after a long ch chase the priest uto and D um gets somehow killed by Marquee with the help of Cortana despite the fact that Mama was doing these really cool dagger moves in the last episode I don't really get how even with cortana's help Mar would be able to best the priest in a fight but fair enough I guess I actually kind of like this priest and I was hoping that they'd be alive for longer but I guess not I'm and all that said and done Marquee and Cortana finally pinpoint the location of what should be Al Hilo on a map but we'll get to that in a minute back to the unfc side of things minor inconvenience minor annoyance here but it's something that I've noticed in season two of the show in particular they didn't do it in season one but in season two they keep calling Oni o and I not Oni I don't understand why cuz in season one they definitely called them Oni now all of a sudden it's O and I like everyone is calling them o and I little thing but it's really annoying me please call them on once again that only Lieutenant woman tries to stop Chief and again as always she fails this character is weird she always just kind of like appears from around the corner with a whole Battalion of Marines uh and this time the Marines don't listen to her and they don't fire on Chief and uh neither does she because Kai comes behind her and uh well hits her in the back of the head and knocks her out this character was very strange she like I said she just always kind of appears around the corner she never like has any lead into a scene she just appears around the corner there's no other way to say it so the arbitus fleet has officially arrived in the soul system which is the system that ala Halo was located in in the regular timeline and as the name of the episode implies theop the Battle of theop Spartan 3's are being sacrificed on mass to stop the Covenant Fleet now I'm going to do a little bit of a prediction here right so the Halo is in the soul system so by all intents and purposes it should be Alpha Halo but we all know that this show and the writers of this show love to change things for the sake of change for absolutely no reason so I bet right now I guarantee it's not going to be Alpha Hilo it will be like beta Hilo it's not a big deal not a big deal like Alpha Beta Epsilon Kappa don't really care to be honest with you but I I just know it's not going to be Alpha Halo for the sake of being different if I'm wrong fair enough absolutely fair enough but I'm going to tell you right now I bet it's not Alpha Halo then don't worry we go back to the saurin plot line the saur his wife looking for kesla plotline now I actually like saurin in this show I'm not going to lie saurin has been saurin and Kai Riz and vanak have been like the only and to a degree horsey the only things that I've consistently enjoyed in the show but my God this this saurin and his wife looking for their son B plotline has been so overdone now I thought it was just going to be some like side questing after reach happened but they've continued it throughout like two three episodes now and the most jarring thing about it in this episode is that there are so many plot lines going on at the same time in this in this episode there's Hy Miranda and Quan there's Chief and Kai there's parangosky and Akerson there's saurin there's the Arbiter and there's five plot lines going on at once in a 45 minute episode show they did not have time to to put this in the episode and luckily it gets kind of resolved here it turns out that castle has been abducted to be part of the Spartan threes and saurin swoops in to save him so thankfully that's over now but like I just don't see the point in having such a overall meaningless plotline drag on for so long and take up so much screen time that could have been taken up by one of the other plot lines which according to my script we are about to get to now which was actually very very cool so it turns out in those four instals in Onyx that Miranda was researching that horsey was researching before her uh that this kind of like portal thing isn't actually a portal it's a door and when you do a bunch of like I don't know do some zombies EAS egg quests on the circle thing with some some bolts it opens up these two hatchers that have Foreigner DNA and human DNA in them pretty cool because Quan is now a blessed one though she is able to interact with this artifact and she's able to understand it instantly when Hy and Miranda spent months trying to understand it and couldn't and I mean I already don't like this blessed one plot line I think it's extremely contrived but what's even more contrived to me is this kind of style of Storytelling that happens a lot in modern media where basically experts are working on something for for ages like scientists or researchers are are working on some piece of research for ages and they just they can't crack it they can't sus it and then all of a sudden some random unqualified person just comes in and like oh sorted just like that without any qualifications without any history with that thing I just I don't know maybe hopefully I sense there um that kind of thing happens quite a lot and it always feels really contrived it's done to make the character that sesses it seem a lot more important than they actually are without earning that importance like Miranda has earned that importance because she's like a Xeno archaeology expert Hy has earned that importance because well she's Hoy right but Quan is just some like random person from the alter colonies that just was born with the ability to see this is why the blessed one thing is silly to me really silly in the regular timeline All Humans being reclaimers is a great way of like dodging that contess if that's even a word it's very early in the morning right now and I'm very tired so my apologies it's a great way of skirting around that but when you give it to only a select few people it really does feel contrived however this plot line gets a lot better from here on out and trust me that's me saying that so you hopefully you believe me it turns out that the map that the kind of sigil reveals is in fact a timer like a clock and after Quan moves some Stars around she creates a ring which acts as a key to unlock the door behind the stone circle and it reveals a massive huge like for in a repository with a light bridge and they walk over the light bridge and they get to a door with two symbols on it a foreign door with two symbols on it at the bottom there's the guardian symbol and then at the top there's the flood symbol as they go through the door it turns out they're walking into a flood laboratory by the sounds of it this is a library in fact I think it was Hoy earlier on in the episode even refers to it as a library before they even see any of this stuff she refers to these markings on the sigil referring to a library so she was right and as they're walking through this Library they see these vials which obviously we know what's in those vials but they don't and oh my God there's a dead Foreigner in the back okay that I did not expect to see at all um can't really make out any of the details of the Foreigner because she's like I think it's meant to be a life worker they refer to her as she so I assume given the location it was a life worker that was working in the laboratory and you can't really make any of the details out because she's like curled up in the fetal position but something about this really reminded me of like if you guys remember if any of you guys remember way back in the day in like 2005 2006 on Google videos when all these random like leaked Area 51 footage videos would pop up of some like really really badly made prosthetic alien it kind of reminded me of that I I actually like this but it kind of remind me it give me the same Vibe as that then the flood lab starts to collapse which is likely a failo protocol should anyone break in to try and prevent The Accidental release of the flood like what happened in Halo 1 uh and as it starts to collapse outside as the light Bridge starts to fade an entire Foreigner city is revealed and also so is the Foreigner history and then Quan gets the realization that as a part of that history the monster that she saw in episode one that we all thought was her weirdly referring the flood actually was the flood and the way this is presented even though it's Quan that presents it with the blessed one stuff which I think is again not to use the same word again but extremely contrived I did like this the presentation of it the kind of musical stinger in the background it honestly genuinely like I didn't feel scared or anything but like I did get a little bit of a chill say in that I think it was a good presentation and overall I did enjoy this plot line in this episode I can't believe I'm about to say this I actually enjoyed the Quan plotline even though like hsta was probably my least favorite of the plot line the horsey mirand stuff was good um but I I think this was definitely an adequate way to tease the flood I don't think it's the reveal of the flood is ever going to be as good as Halo ones I mean that was just like horror Perfection right absolutely perfect but I think in the context of the TV show this was actually really really good I did genuinely enjoy it and I'm going to give him praise for it genuinely this was a cool almost horror inspired way of doing it it wasn't outwardly horror it was wasn't outwardly meant to be like a whole horror scene but it had like little kind of like emotional notes of horror which is a good way to build up to the flood's reveal I think which by the way I think it's clear they are going through the flood now this tease was very heavy-handed very very heavy-handed and done I would say intentionally and then towards the end of the episode it turns out that Miranda actually managed to save one of the vials or one of the kind of repository storage units from the flood lab and she has it on onyx in one of those research labs and she opens it and that's the last thing we see of it in the episode so you know what I'm actually genuinely curious to see where this goes I actually think it' be really sick if Onyx ended up getting taken over by the flood in this timeline if there was an outbreak in the lab and Onyx got taken over I don't think that's going to happen honestly because I think they're gearing up for the entirety of season 3 to be on the Halo which honestly is good I think that's what they should be doing but if they went in a different direction and had an outbreak happen on onyx that would be kind of cool I'm not going to lie I think that would be kind of sick see that's the kind of thing that I want an alternate timeline to do not completely miscue and raring existing plot lines but shake things up a little bit and have certain things happen in different ways that's the most ambiguous and meaningless way of describing it I don't know if I I think it's too early in the morning to describe what I mean to be honest with you either way if there was to be an outbreak on onyx I think that could potentially be really cool so back to the UNC plot line it turns out that that Spike that only were having the Spartan 3s practice planting on the Covenant ships uh isn't meant to be something that you escape from rather that Spike overrides Covenant Fusion drives and basically causes their ships to do what the Autumn did in Hilo 1 but on steroids over 1 million miles and the idea with this is that it's parangosky idea specifically to deny the Covenant Halo by destroying it but in the process it's kind of like a a self destruction Mission shall we say because in the process all of the ships the human ships in the area will be obliterated as well but she thinks that that is worth it to stop the Covenant from getting the Halo and to be honest she's not wrong but then my friends oh my God we're about to get something even crazier than a flood tease even crazier than going to a flood lab brace yourselves Master Chief looks at his armor oh my God it happened and not only that I'm going to spoil the ending of my video I'm going to jump ahead in my script now at the end of the episode Chief steals a condor for reasons that will become obvious in a second and he's wearing his armor he's still not wearing his helmet but at least he's got meol on now for the first time in what like four episodes if I can count correctly um Master Chief is wearing meon my God who said it wouldn't happen again and good God it only took him like half a season but they did it Kai urges Chief to go to the Halo and get it before the Covenant does uh and she chooses to stay behind with the Spartan 3es who are raiding the arbiter's fleet with the spike and I can guarantee you right now they're going to give Kai a very similar death to Kurt in that like obviously Kurt went out in a blaze of glory an explosion of Glory so to speak in one of the greatest asset denials in the entire history of Halo law and I guarantee that actually no I say that maybe I think Kai's going to I think Kai will die I think she's going to plant the spike and she's going to die but I think somehow it won't destroy the Halo I think it will destroy the entire Covenant Fleet the fleet of solemn mord but I don't think it will destroy the Halo something will happen the Halo will jump through a portal or it will be immune or some something they'll pull something like that to make sure the Halo doesn't get destroyed at the end of the season but I do think that Kai is going to end up having a Curt likee death at the end of this season so in the next episode next week briefly back on the AR to ship Mar gives herself the mark of Shame uh the Marquee of Shame boom boom boom would you look at that what a great joke aren't I Funny um and yeah so we back to the UN stuff Chief winess again steals a condor like I said uh to go and find the Halo against parangosky orders but in line with what Akerson wants him to do and yeah we see Chief in his armor and that's the end of the episode uh I would say this is honestly it had some dumb stuff undoubtedly but I would say out of all the episod this season I probably enjoyed this one the most honestly um I do think that the finale I mean whenever I say this understand that I'm saying it in the context of thinking that this show is like not even 10% as good as what Halo deserved for a TV show um it's like it should be like 50 hund times better than this however with that said within the context of that I do think the finale of this could end up being pretty good because we've got Kai going to attack the arbitus fleet with all the spart threes we got Chief going to the Halo we've got Miranda opening a flood research vile which I mean I don't think it will happen but my fingers are crossed for an outbreak on onyx that would be really really really cool Kamara what how do you pronounce it Camp Ki yeah Kam Ki getting over with the flood that could be really sick I think that could be really really cool um but yeah next episode however much more enjoyable than the episodes have been for I would say quite a long time the only episode that even comes close to this i' say is episode one I think this is definitely the best episode of the Season though in fact you know what i' maybe even go as far to say is the best episode of the show so far which again within the context of the show is not I'm not saying it deserves an Emmy I'm not saying this is like True Detective season 1 level of quality right not saying that but much better than last weeks and significantly better than the week before that and the week before that and also the you
