So, fun fact.

When you're securing with no headache rack, you are required BY LAW to use whatever securement you've placed on the very front of the load two feet directly behind it. So at the very least, two chains in the first five feet.

This guy had too few chains, no friction pads, and was following too closely. He's lucky, dumb, but alive.

Oh, and as Marek pointed out, the cab held together well only because he braked normally then hard late as opposed to braking hard early, so the steel slid only in the last few seconds of forward inertia.

I'm amazed how well the Volvo cab held up against that, any other truck that steel woulda been coming through the windshield..

flatbed trailer and load has shifted into the back of the truck so we've been called to try to resituated so that the truck and trailer can get off the side of the road we're headed that way down and turn the camera back on when we get on scene see what's going on when we are getting close to the scene I can see all right blue lights I think I see the semi on the side of the road he's supposed to be right here before the overpass pretty sure that's him and we're gonna sneak in behind him to take a look at the load and see what's going on first before we decide what we're going to do marine here I really don't want to run over holy cow cab is really messed up hold on Talan we got him coming on hothead here first thing we need to do is set up some cones as they are not getting yeah the some rubber down and hopefully that will help grip where the chain is if we won't put that under there now where you've got the chain take the chain like I said far far forward is you can close to the floor all right grab some bits of rubber strap or rubber flaps not only helps protect the chain but hopefully helps chain chain grab hold I know I know it's not typical for us to have to do this talent but the chain will have to overlap or else it will not grab a hold you have to cross the chain or else it will not grab it will not grab now wait where is your where's one of your hands 108 okay what you need to do is make a loop out of this okay and then make two loops that way as the chain pulls the loops tighten up kind of like a noose or a I'll shoot you know what I'm talking about so it's not there you go thank you that needs to hook into itself and then you run the other chain loop it through so that cinches down good now yes you want that you want to make a loop out of both of them okay you understand and I got got the bits of rubber there too would talk for his will put my winching breakdown I know it seems counterproductive but if I push the [ __ ] break in and flip on winching break it lets my tag axle go down and applies all the service breaks so I've got service breaks on the pusher axle as well that way all right girl I need to put my white hole on free spool so the resistance is not going to be the full weight I still want to use a snatch block that slows things down and it increases the strength of the wire rope 12 [Applause] who it is more alright now
