welcome back to another key productive video today  we'll be exploring obsidian versus rome versus   hypernotes today we're partnered with leading  software comparison and review site capterra to   help you make more informed choices and decisions  about what software to go with now you can use   their wide variety of insights and reviews to  help you improve that decision making in the   link in description it's great to have them on as  a partner in today's video i'm bringing together   my own knowledge to review these apps so let's  dive in now all of these applications are great   personal note-taking apps and we're going to be  reviewing it from that aspect in today's video so   let's start with availability now let's start off  with hypernotes it's available on all platforms   including snapcraft and also linux which is  not so common with productivity applications   obsidian on the other hand does have some great  linux options too as well as a newly introduced   mobile version which is also available on ipad  as well now rome is actually the application   that doesn't necessarily have as good of a lineup  of platform availability they have currently mac   and windows as well as a web version so moving  on to pricing hypernotes does have good free plan   however it does have some limitations example of  those limitations is the two notebook limitation   and there are a few more but if you want to  remove some of those limitations including   likes and notebooks then you're gonna be paying  eight dollars per user per month for the pro plan   and they also have a business plan if you wanted  to collaborate on notes in real time at 19   now obsidian is probably the best of  these applications it's got a free   downloadable version which you don't ever have to  pay for which is great news they set free forever   and as you can imagine they do have some paid  upgrades which includes catalyst which is 25   upgrade but that's only for additional support  and it gives you a badge when you're inside of   communities as well but they do have what's called  a sync and a publish plan so if you wanted to   connect to your cloud uh network e to e encryption  it's gonna cost you eight dollars per month but if   you wanted to publish say a digital garden it's  gonna cost you sixteen dollars per month per site   now rome has more of the aggressive pricing with  fifteen dollars per month there's a cheaper annual   pricing which does shave a little bit off or you  can go for the crazy five year plan which is 500   if you're looking for a pretty wafty saving if you  compare that to the 15 per month plan now let's   look at the features all of these applications  really focus on that bi-directional linking   so being able to create a link between onenote and  another and let those links sort of live together   and interact with each other as you continue  to build your network now hypernotes has some   great linking and the one thing i'd say about this  application is definitely easier to consume than   some of the other applications on the market in  the bi-directional linking space you can connect   it to other zenkit tools as well they have zenkit  suite which is a growing network of tools and also   if you did want to add real-time collaboration  they have some great uh real-time editing inside   of this application which is perfect if you did  want to collaborate with others it's called all   the regular stuff you'd expect like graphs and  bi-directional links and it does have some really   nice features when it comes to bringing together  notebooks in one place now obsidian on the other   hand is an offline application and if you've  got the desktop version you can install it and   locally store everything although if you did want  to you can use ete encryption to upload it using   the sync plan which is eight dollars per month  but all in all you can create notes connect them   together and connect them to the graph as well  so you can build a great knowledge base for you   and it's perfect on desktop and mobile it's a  really reliable application now looking to roam   this is really quite a research application  it's very much like obsidian in its features   although they have a much stronger community in  my opinion actually they call it a cult however   rome has a great network of users and also they  really do focus on what the users want to be   fixed inside of the application now as you can  imagine in rome you can connect up things in a   high level of detail and also be able to use the  graph to find things later on but it's really a   high level of knowledge to get started with  this application so it's well worth reading   any guides and checking out some of the  youtube channels like linking your thinking   which is a fantastic channel now as we go to  the recommended who are these best for i would   probably say hypernotes is best for people who  want bi-directional links without the high costs   behind it but also i like the fact that it's on  web and be able to back up uh you know using uh   web and also it's a lot easier to understand  in these other two applications like obsidian   and rome if you're looking at obsidian i would  say this is probably best for people who use   desktop and mobile but want a more technical and  detailed way for denotes to be taken especially   with a focus on local storage and security as they  do do e2e encryption with the sync plan if you're   a rome user i would say this is probably the most  specialist of the tools out here and it's really   for those who want to invest in the future of  the rome app they have a fantastic community   that's more than willing to help and you can  download some really cool plugins much like   you can an obsidian but they have a fantastic sort  of community and api for that so folks hopefully   you found this helpful you can use capterra to  find out reviews and people's experiences using   these applications i'll have a link to that in  description below anyway folks hope you enjoyed   this please do hit subscribe and like today's  video and i'll talk to you all very soon cheerio you
