i've been trying to figure out these uh rear screens yes the location upper west side columbus avenue oh columbus avenue that's columbus okay yeah at the circle or no that's at 7 60 that's 7th street oh all right yes yeah isabella is in kenneth cole shoes and oh all right yeah okay are we going all right well nora it's so good to see you again great to see you bobby i'm always glad when you make a movie because then i know we'll have another visit what a wonderful film thank you you've got mail thank you just delightful okay delightful you know one of the things about this movie that just amused me throughout the film tom hanks is constantly quoting things from the godfather is that one of your favorite movies i'm afraid it is yes but well you know i'm married to nick pelegi who wrote goodfellas so i have this major italian-american connection in my life anyway but we watch the godfather this is what we do at christmas in our house some people watch it's a wonderful life we watch the godfather so you can quote it i guess i can quote it but you know we discovered on this as we were doing this movie because tom plays a guy who's constantly quoting from the godfather we discovered a friend of ours is is with a guy who's on wall street and do you know on wall street almost every business transaction is accompanied by a line from the godfather like if someone gets fired they say you ain't going to see paulie no more and if they're in the middle of a deal they say i'm going to leave this suitcase in the room and if i come back and it's not here i'll know we have a deal it's amazing how much it is part of the language so i had no trouble quoting from the godfather just kind of rolls out of your computer i was uh very pleased not that i have a thing against it but i was just pleased that you were happy to leave this movie as a pg rather than a pg-13 or an r you could easily have gone pg-13 easily could have gone r but okay with me but you didn't need to no you don't need to but you know this is i mean this is a movie there's no um i mean most romantic comedies don't have sex in them anyway so it's not that hard to get them into the pg zone but when you were making it or when you were writing it was that a consideration or well um it wasn't really and i'll be honest with you in the original version there was there was a a word or two that might have landed us in pg-13 and i cut those scenes not because of the word but because the scenes didn't work um if we'd landed at pg-13 i wouldn't be that upset you know the thing that i'm well you don't want to get into what i feel about these ratings but it is so amazing to me do you know when harry met sally had an r rating think back on that that is so bizarre these ratings are weird but i'm happy to have a pg rating and i've you know you don't need anything more than that to make this kind of movie it just works beautifully the way it is yes also in this um film with meg and tom who've worked together before the chemistry is just so wonderful now i know good actors can manufacture chemistry they can yes they can yes they really can but isn't it nice for a director to have people where you don't have to manufacture that yes you know on when harry met sally we shot a scene with billy and meg billy crystal and meg ryan and it was in a phase of their relationship where they were barely speaking to one another and i look at that scene and you would think the two of them were the best friends on the face of the earth tom and meg however are not manufacturing it they really like each other they really really like each other and you can see that they love working together they're both incredibly brilliant people who could have been anything they wanted to be fantastic writers well tom is a writer but meg is a great writer and you can see that you can see their brains pulsing in a way that i always think is what romantic comedy is really about you always want to think they're a match for each other and by that you don't mean sex you mean they will keep each other on their toes they will keep even sparring etc so well it it just works beautifully i've been asking everybody nora when you were a child what was your favorite book or your favorite story i think i was most hooked on the oz books and my favorite book was osma of oz and i still read it i still read children's books i just love them and of green gables which we mentioned in the movie i start crying on about page 70 and i cry straight through to the end i just sit in bed going it's just pathetic i love children's books well i think that there will be a big trend now towards children's books from the people who see this movie well i hope so wouldn't that be great yes it would nora thanks for your time and congratulations thank you so much thanks it is been trying to figure out these uh rear screens yes the location upper west side columbus avenue oh columbus avenue that's columbus okay at the
