I'm never not impressed by Chomsky's memory. At around 16 minutes in Chomsky is talking about Reagan's popularity to illustrate how undemocratic presidential elections are and brings up the fact that Reagan won about 30% of the popular vote which would be considered a disaster in most industrialized countries. One of the journalists then says "well, that's probably more than FDR got" and Chomsky without skipping a beat replies "No it isn't" and goes on about steadily declining electoral participation rates since roughly the 1890s. I love those moments.

Also, thank you for putting this online. I've listened to this many times but never saw the video. And I knew it existed somewhere because a small excerpt appears in Manufacturing Consent. I'm glad to know you have this material and are uploading to the internet. Not just for my benefit but for posterity. This is important work!
