what's going on people if you're having a problem with red dead redemption 2 where you're getting the virtual memory error i'm going to show you how to fix it so the first thing that you have to do is you have to change your page file size to give the game enough resources to be able to run so how you do that is you'll right click on your windows key you go to system go to advanced system settings click under advanced your yours is more than likely going to be under computer name so you'll click advanced under performance we'll click settings under performance options we'll click advanced then under virtual memory we'll click change it's going to be checked here for automatically manage paging file sizes for all drives let's click that go to custom size so for the custom size when microsoft wants to use is your physical memory times 1000 times 1.5 for the initial size and physical memory times 1000 times 3 for the maximum size so for my computer if you don't know how to find your physical memory what you can do is right click on your toolbar you go to task manager under task manager will go to performance and then it'll tell you how much physical memory you have in your computer here so my case is 32 gigs so pull up a calculator so then for our initial size we're looking at 32 times 1000 times 1.5 and that's going to be 48 000 so we'll enter that here and remember yours is going to be whatever your physical memory is so don't do 32 unless you have 32 gigs you would either do 8 gigs or 16 gigs so then for the maximum size we'll do 32 which is how much physical memory i have times 1000 times 3 and that gives us 96 000. so we'll enter that here then we'll click set and then click ok ok ok then you can try to launch your game after that if that doesn't work the next thing you can do is change your api that you're using to launch the game it'll either be vulcan or directx 12 so how you can change that is we'll click uh click our start button we'll go to documents we're going to look for rockstar games red dead redemption 2 settings and then we're looking for this xml document for system you're going to right click on that and go to edit and then we're going to click control f on our keyboard to find find the next thing you want to do is type in api and click find next what that's going to do is highlight the setting for the api in your file so we can exit out of that now that we found it so you're going to highlight directx 12 and type in vulkan and if yours is already on vulcan you'll just highlight vulcan and type in directx 12. all right then once you've done that you'll click file save as save yes and you're done one of those two solutions will work for you if that helps feel free to like and subscribe stay tuned for more videos thanks
