NEW Porsche 718 Cayman GT4: Track Review | Carfection 4K

[Music] this is the new Porsche 718 Cayman gt4 and this is the new 718 Spyder they are arguably the most eagerly anticipated and fiercely speculated about Porsche GT cars for some time if you want to know all the technical details then do have a gander at our walk around video with andreas primer we found at Goodwood but over the next two videos we're going to see what they're like to drive starting with the GT 4 on track and not going in Scotland [Applause] [Music] a little bit of on the circuit first it's funny it feels a bit like coming home because many many moons ago and this is where I should hit my race license likes to go to university about now over that way little that I know that one day I'll be back here in this exactly 1.3 miles long but it's 200 feet of elevation it's a fantastic little circuit really technical and actually it tells you quite a lot about this car sometimes you come to circuits and you know thinking one that I've learned very much but this can learn little melody so quick recap ride the car then 414 brake horsepower there's a naturally aspirated 4 liter flat 6 this all-new engine that they've developed this specific has got DCC be carbon ceramic brakes on it it's got the club's full package as well so we've got the half cage behind it's got a fix bucket seats we have that you've got the phone harness on it because it's just timing ready for them [Music] don't sixty miles now 4.2 seconds Ward's like lap time for this seven minutes in 28 seconds which is after all you all know it's exactly four seconds faster than a Carrera GT which is pretty extraordinary isn't it I know you see aa brother would probably go quick and still but nonetheless this is also 12 seconds faster old juicy four and I mean three by this time the extra power we have in here so what can we learn about this car on their circuit well I think passing says that as you would expect from Michaela mid-engined it has got absolutely fabulous balance and its really really confidence-inspiring car this is a circuit that's all about confidence things like this corner here the first one toughest where it's all about confidence because you've got a blind pressed blind entry and then up through the chicane here you want to have confidence in the car to be able to picture over the curbs and they're now bringing onto the second thing which is the right quality of this car so we're in Duncan's down here seems broke here it is no it's Bobby's I'm sure it once used to be an uphill but coming down here into the air can break our fourth gear and it is really bumpy you can feel it but the car doesn't get unsettled likewise up over these fake Cubs where you can feel you've got inside wheels brought up in the air but away regains the grip over start/finish line you always see the traction control triggering a little bit this section got a manual box I'm sitting here hurry I'm actually on the autoplay function turned up just to show quite how good it is you might think wow also Blair that's just cheating isn't it mate like automatic gearbox yes we still have to think it's not just like also box because you think wow yeah do I grab that gear do I just rely on the talk perhaps instead gear higher big things because one retires well what's the Goering liking this is it too long and you do feel it I'm so out of the heaven here this is second gear support soon get altar in town as it were having said that this was the only part of the circuit where I really noticed it I suspect there will be more to say about it on the road and how does the new DG fall sound well you can hear for yourself there isn't perhaps a really spine-tingling top-end like a gt3 but it sounds a hell of a lot better than most of your engines today and even though I'm sure there will be more to come from it why does it feel strong it also brings with it that lovely precision and response that you get from the throttle of a naturally aspirated engine again adding to the confidence you have in the car [Music] sister it doesn't feel like it really happen to you of course we are gonna learn a lot more about this car I Drive it on the right [Music] oh it's nice being back here and it's sunny in Scotland people say Oh doesn't happen perhaps your does is the evidence Tasha the place up bit since I last it just be a barn you sit on the hay bales under

4 seconds faster round the Green Hell than the Carrera GT?! That's kinda insane and shows how far cars have come in 15 years.

As I feared this 4.0 doesn't seem as characterful as many of the flat-6 of the past. Still a think a beauty though.

Watches part of the video, goes out and prices one out.....old man in me thinks "my god cars are expensive". I mean they are a ton of amazing sports cars out there and they are so much ahead of where they were just a decade ago but my god cars are expensive.

No interest whatsoever until Porsche gets its value equation back in line. Their up charge for standard offerings and maintenance is blasphemous. They are taking advantage of the consumer who stupid enough to dramatically overpay for what they are getting (midlife crisis old dude, trophy wife or side piece, or clueless person hell bent on owning anything with the Stuttgart logo in it.) These days, you’re just throwing your money away if you own any Porsche that isn’t a collectors item.
