NEW ORLEANS 2023 | Can you still have a good time here?

I just want to point out how much of the shrimp is just overflowing another one just fell [Music] good evening everybody hello we are back in New Orleans finally wow it's been over a year yes yes flights are finally aligned with us and my work schedule falling in line and the weather too and the weather right so it is about 11 40 11 40 at night right now I just got in right here at the French Quarter yes and it is a Monday night and it Bourbon Street is empty but we're gonna go watch I mean we hear some music in the background we do we're gonna go check in at the hotel where are we staying at oh we're staying at The Bourbon Orleans this time yes brand new place for us right down the right on the same block or right where you can see Touchdown Jesus that's right so we have to give you a shout out of that after we check in and give you a quick room tour yes there's no sign right no sign but luckily we ubered it because this is look how much it is to park oh wow there it is right there what are your bugs yep so this thing right here the Bourbon Orleans hotel and we're just a half a block away from Bourbon Street so so far it's a great location for a hotel yeah well you know what since we're right next to the street let's show them Touchdown Jesus there it is we love that I'm thinking of all these places that we have to hit up but in only half a day and it's gonna be so hard to pick and which ones you're gonna do let's go let's let's start yes we just checked in at The Bourbon Orleans Hotel it's a nice tune it's a big room yeah yeah I mean it's it's not huge by any means but it's enough for our two-day stay here here's the bathroom give them a tour of it I like this bathroom look at that really nice very well lit they do give you some toiletries right here it's very long in length yes here's our toiletries the toilet and here's the shower that's your favorite half yeah half open shower yeah and right here is the Kaiba soaps they have in the shower so they have everything you need in here baby I got a cool piece of artwork right here maybe that's what no I said that's a different Hotel corn stock oh I've seen that one corn stock fence Hotel yeah so come over here let's check out the living room there's a nice working desk here's our TV and inside here are some drawers and your mini fridge it's empty yes they take it right right and um nice chair with my backpack this is actually on the on the ground level so you have a view of the pool you can barely see it out there yeah there's a pool over there and this is our king-size bed yes a couple nightstands and in the corner they put a coffee maker and give you complimentary bottles of water here's our hotel bottles of water coffee maker look at that they have a beater roasting who knew Abita had some roasting coffee I think we will yeah just the uh a small like a half walk-in closet right here it's not bad yeah and that's it this is the uh the bourbon uh Orleans Saints hotel and we got on our usual hotel tonight which is a last minute app we got it for 104 108. 108 per night plus taxes so it's not bad right here we're just right in the middle of of between Bourbon Street and Royal and Royals we're like right in the middle so it's perfect location walking distance to everything it is yeah so we're just gonna quickly get settled and head out it's about midnight yeah and Monday night yeah we could hear music but as you can see there isn't a whole lot happening now now so if you are coming on a Monday night this is what you're going to experience places are still open yeah uh the majority of the places are still open and you can definitely get a drink but uh it's pretty dead yeah now we're gonna hit up our favorite Crescent City Pizza yeah and get our first beer off let's go [Music] as we're making our way toward the canals a lot more people yes I guess I guess we're in a little bit more busy section A lot of music playing a lot of people just hanging out oh yeah we're on our way to our pizza spot though [Applause] [Music] and now we're just gonna get our slice of pizza and eat it oh yeah here we go we got some pepperoni right here it makes big cheesy [Music] so we got our pizzas right here this is a slice of pepperoni so look at the size of this cheese it is like huge it's the size of my hands pretty big stick of this way through these size [Music] oh yeah [Music] I'm happy the way I remember my friendly wow great fire right here first time we saw this one try it out yeah we like this pizza here a lot oh yeah it matches perfectly with us and stuff it's very light you seem not too happy oh yeah [Music] after this we're gonna go in there and check it out I'm sad it's almost 12 30. yeah they're all cleaning up now so they're playing DJ music but I don't know how long that's gonna last yeah probably until two o'clock or so that's how they usually do like yeah useful I did you know maybe they end up midnight Maybe I don't know [Music] what three hour flight let me just go take a shower get an early start yeah we gotta look around there's so many areas that we want to eat but we gotta really figure out what we're gonna do but we like have a game plan have a game plan okay [Applause] [Music] when they come back [Music] good morning good morning we are here at probably one of the most unique coffee houses that we've been to yes yes no when you're in New Orleans you have to come and just take a gander at their cemeteries they have tons of cemeteries here they're all above ground so all of their all of the Cascades all of them are above ground so it is a sight to see uh where we're going is sacred grinds it's right across the street from the Katrina Memorial I remember going to the Katrina Memorial on one of the nighttime tours remember that baby right ghost tours yeah and so it's right across the street we're gonna go have some coffee and then look at our view yes good we also have like a white chocolate lavender reflexes [Music] so this is the outdoor seating area probably one of the most unique views of any coffee shop right yes we're gonna enjoy our coffee oh yeah cappuccino so when you're here in New Orleans you have to come and see again the above ground cemeteries and enjoy your coffee this one is it's from sacred grinds that's the place name this is a mocha lavender I love it you can taste that mocha flavor which is very slightly sweet and then the lavender click kicks in which is a bit more sweet is a good one I'm a coffee drinker so I have to get the big one yes and uh this Cemetery I believe is Jackson number one Jackson I think number one I think it is again it's right across the street from the Katrina Memorial yes so yeah very unique place very quiet tranquil it is where are we at now then gorilla jeans we came here years ago for their grilled breads we when we came here we got their griddle banana bread I think you saw Habib that they had a griddled pumpkin bread yeah it might be a seasonal type of bread I think it's a seasonal type of bread so we'll see which kind of griddle the breads they have we're gonna keep this a light breakfast because of course we have lunch plans yes let's go inside [Music] this is a little bit different this French 75 is made with brandy and white Cava and something else I forgot let's go ahead and give this a taste oh wow it's really nice and cold it's oh it's lemon you can taste the lemon coming through here it's not bubbly which I believe some friends in The Vibes are bubbly this is delicious very Savory tasty oh yeah I recommend this one this is the French 75. it's delicious Grandma's biscuit and gravy look at that looks interesting what is it like paprika or something that I've never seen that on top of the biscuits and gravy pork well let's go ahead and give this a try oh that's very fluffy yeah and see how it is here we go okay gravy is very buttery and Rich and there is a tiny bit of heat to it too [Music] I never had like biscuits and gravy with some heat so it's very interesting I really like it and the biscuit itself as you can see is very fluffy look at that you can just see the butter in it right did you see that wow like House made yes I know that the biscuit and the gravy it's a house made here it is delicious when I first looked at it I go well it looks a little bit different from what we're used to because we used to like Cracker Barrel stuff but this is amazing [Music] rental pumpkin bread what it is is they make their pumpkin bread and then they griddle it with a little bit of I believe brown sugar a little bit of butter in there so you can see it's nice soft and a little bit of that crispy here this pumpkin really looks amazing and it is seasonal usually they have banana bed but they have pumpkins uh left over so they're doing a little bit of pumpkin let's go ahead there's the bread there's a little bit of I believe this may be butter I'm not sure wow that is butter so I should have gotten this spread a little bit on this bread right here that friend it's perfectly sweet this portioned right here that is the crispy part of that bread you can see that butter just oozing out and that pumpkin flavor oh yeah this is absolutely delicious gorilla jeans for the win we're done with Willa jeans and for our light breakfast yeah and it just has to be right across the street to Rouses Supermarket yeah so you gotta work off some of this food for us yeah a little little walking right yeah make room for our lunch so we're gonna go walk into Ross's this is one of my favorite markets yeah check it out it's right it's the official Supermarket of the New Orleans Saints right yeah so here for king cake let's go look at their king cake selection they got the whole display they do so they have slices of king cake and they have actual whole thing too they run around 10 bucks and look at all the flavors they have yes because this is a cinnamon I think we tried the cinnamon and the original ones right probably get two of these take them back to my work and share yeah check it out uh here's the individual slices here they even have the Rice Krispies other stuff the pickle display huh oh yeah it's king cake season King cake season they already have in their hot section some crawfish is really cool and it shows you like in some of these like here's boiled hot sauce it shows you when it was freshly cooked and you can just grab a pack if you have crawfish we have regular yeah you could make your own boil over here right and I know because they have the sausages look at this oh yeah smoked sausage would boil and that's how they have some potatoes I have some potatoes and look at they give you a big old tray thank you carry it on as well yeah so it's not exactly crawfish season yet but they do offer some but I believe it's coming in season out this is what we need at the supermarkets where we live at grilled oyster kit the garlic parmesan reasons why we come over here to New Orleans just to get this but who knew they had a kit you could do it yourself at home and they have everything here you can see the seafood gumbo they even have a roux wow yeah just the price for this is uh how much 23.99 24 bucks not too bad yeah four whole dozen yeah great deal since we may not be here for crawfish season we're hoping to yeah we're gonna try this out right we haven't crawfish before and it was very good it was spicy so these are little it's not I don't think it's quite crawfish season or it's just beginning these are small we're gonna go ahead and try these at home and this whole bag was uh four dollars and 88 cents or 88. yeah so do you have any type classes before you want to try it they're these are pretty authentic from the last time I've tried it so let's go ahead and try out this crawfish that's what it looks like nice boiled take off the tail because that's where everything is is in the tail and it's supposed to suck the head oh it's very good seasoning and then finish the tail s it almost came out oh wow they're spicy and these are spicy first taste you can taste all that juiciness in there for that young first of the Season crawfish that's actually really delicious oh yeah these are very good cheese kind of like a texture of a shrimp you taste a lot of the spices and with a little bit of that Seafood taste which is delicious one thing they're small but they're very juicy as I'm peeling this juices like squirting everywhere I almost need to take cover so this is delicious what's really interesting is I've eaten crawfish here before and later in the season when they have that Seafood fishy smell these don't have that Seafood fishes now I don't know if it's because maybe it's the first of the Season breakfast or small but these are delicious definitely if you've never tried crawfish before I'd come here to Rouses get our four or five dollar bags you're gonna get all of this crawfish if you don't like it it's not too bad of an investment because I know and the other locations when they sell profits they only sound like a twenty dollar packs so here at Rouses you can get the taste of it and see if you actually like it yeah and if you are a fan of it then get the whole boil with the sausage potatoes corn everything right and those oils are usually easy to share yeah but you're doing a good job we made it to our Lunch Spot yes we looked it up on Yelp yes on yeah and I think it was recommended by somebody okay yeah but we are here at crabby Jacks for the Po Boys yes yes and so they're known for of course the rose people boys and they're shrimple boys but they have something a little bit different yes a slow roasted duck oh boy and you know we have to try that out yeah so first time here let's go try it let's go so this primarily like a lunch place because I close at 3 P.M close on Sundays yeah all right let's go outside [Music] this is a slow roasted duck full boy this is the only place I've known to have it here at Crabby Jack's let's go ahead and look at this puppy all right here we go this is the regular size that we got we got it with everything yes that is a lettuce tomato Mayo right let's go ahead wow look at that it almost looks like uh like roast beef debris right yes it does but you can say it but that's the color it's different so I'm gonna open this up look at that wow that looks delicious yeah we're gonna have to pause for a picture it is falling apart it is overstuffed everything just fell right around the bottom but I'm gonna go ahead you know what I can smell that real stuff from here and the spread is soft um a very poultry type taste I mean it looks like roast beef but you can taste that that flavor oh wow the bread also makes the bubbling and it's nice and it sounds weird but I put the mixture in there plus the Mayo it's creamy I know it sounds weird but it's actually pretty nails oh yeah feel about falling apart from the majority of my death was on my my paper that's enough to make another sandwich right it is delicious yeah wow what I got is the fried shrimp classical boy I love me a good fried shrimp oh boy here we go oh look at that wow what do you think do you think they overstuffed the fried shrimp in here I think so this is a ridiculous amount of wow again we're gonna pause for some pictures and then we'll go for the peso I just want to point out how much of the shrimp is just overflowing another one just fell wow so they put a lot of shrimp just like the amount of duck that's in yours it's falling all over the place let's go in for a bite where do you start where do I start right here in the middle mm-hmm I didn't even get the top part of the bread as a great Fry on this fried shrimp nice light crispy batter on that fried shrimp nice and plump and sweet the only thing that's going to make this better is you know what some crystals right put a little bit on right there now here we go um the crystals here it has the right amount of cayenne pepper and some vinegar taste onto the Shrimp Po Boy it isn't too hot of course you can control it by moms that you put on there oh wow this is delicious wow if you a fan of fried shrimp oh boys gotta give this place a try again they do not go cheap on the shrimp there is plenty in here like yours enough to make another half a sandwich with all the leftover shrimp it's crazy I'm out look at this Pro tip with all the leftover shrimp make yourself a combo do my slow roast duck and my shrimp oh boy put a little bit of that crystals on top all righty here we go for the ultimate fight yeah that's a that's a pro move right there that crunch of that trip some of the crystals um really smoothness of my graviness of that dust do it you won't regret it [Music] made it back to the corner yeah let's do a little shopping I feel like I need a I need another shirt yeah and we need to definitely walk around because we're getting tired but we don't want to go to sleep yet yeah not yet but look look at all the decorations I think they're getting ready for our Mardi Gras around here and Fat Tuesday right I know [Music] right there please go visit that's the most important river in American history there's a famous Cafe Del Mar behind us yes and I think someone mentioned it's back to 24 hours yeah I think so so uh if you have a late night craving for beignets right yes right here we're back at our hotel and we didn't really shoot the lot because we came in pretty late we did but uh we'll show you how beautiful this Lobby is it is beautiful and of course you know it's in the corner so here at The Bourbon Orleans they have ghost stories they do in fact they have a little thing on the wall which we'll show you and we talked to one of the hosts that work here and she gave us her share of her encounters it's pretty pretty fascinating yeah of all the history that's here it is you know in fact I'll put in the comments below if you uh believe in ghosts yes that were interesting to know about that here's the shot of the pool and our room is where the open blinds are right on top right there baby it's a nice pool area and yeah our room is right there we're gonna close it off
