New Interpreter's Bible Commentary | Overview

thank you for visiting best Bible commentaries in this video I would like to briefly show you the new international commentary series and I'm just showing you one volume just an example of the series there's 12 volumes in total each volume contains multiple books of the Bible this particular one volume 9 contains Luke and John this commentary series utilizes two different English translations the NIV New International Version and the NRSV the New Revised Standard Version and displays both of the texts side-by-side so here's the NIV this is a Luke 18 or 1 through 8 here's the NIV text left-hand side box here's the NRSV text right-hand side box and then the commentary follows in in two columns so there are multiple authors in this commentary series books are written by there's different professors and pastors employed to write the different books of the Bible Abington Press is as a Methodist publisher so this series follows Arminian theology or reflects Arminian theology I have an interview on best Bible commentaries with Robert wall on his acts commentary in this series and he talks more about the series in that Q&A so on my site on the horizontal menu author interviews click there scroll down to X and look for Robert walls commentaries Robert walls question and answer because there are multiple authors you will sometimes find some different emphasis and different books different one might be strong in theology one might be strong in exegesis or application so that varies a little bit but like it does with any series that has multiple authors there are some liberal theologians authors contributing in a series and some conservative Robert Wall would be on the conservative side so it might be helpful to read his QA on best Bible commentaries for for more insight on that book and in for this particular series so again that's the new interpreters Bible commentary series and twelve volumes thank you for watching
