hey guys ray Pajar from get crafty crafty and today we're finally putting up the new version of the chalk wall a while back when I was first taking down the original chalk wall a bunch of you guys wanted to see the behind the scenes of how I actually put it up and how I'm I was going to take it down because of the timing I wasn't really able to do that but today I'm going to show you guys a little bit of behind the scenes on how I put the new chalk wall up when I created the first chalk wall I actually put everything on some wooden panels and if you see in the background I still have the original piece from the first part of the chalk wall fun fact one of the original things that I drew on that chalk wall that stayed there the entire time for all of the symbols for all my social media links I was able to keep that on the whole time just because I didn't want to erase it and then draw it back every time that I drew something new and I really wanted to keep that part of the chalk wall consistent since I wasn't going to change my social media all the time today's video is going to be structured a little differently just because I'm going to be doing a lot of voiceover and it's gonna actually be filmed over the span of a few days since chalk paint does take a few days to dry up let's go ahead and get started with today's project I'm sorry off this project by taking off the original chalk wall off of the current wall I put this up originally just because I needed something in the background when I was shooting my previous video since we're not putting up wooden panels for this version of the chalk wall I wanted to test out if the paintin would actually stick onto the wall and see what it would look like before putting anything on since this wall is already painted I don't really have to worry about putting up any kind of primer all I have to do is use some blue tape to cover up the parts of the wall that I don't want to get paint on and I need to lay down this tarp so that the floor is protected before I get into the heavy painting part of this project I'm going to change into an old ship from high school so that I don't really have to worry about paint getting anywhere to make the painting process a little easier I'm going to start off by painting the corners and the part where the wall meets the ceiling so when that part is all dried up and ready all I have to do is paint the whole surface of the wall once I've painted the corners the wall and the ceiling I'm going to use this roller to have a nice even layer of chalk paint onto the wall we're going to start off by just covering it with this base layer of chalk paint and then we're going to wait a few hours for its drive before applying the next layer of paint this is problem my favorite part of the project since it's showing the most transformation from the previous wall to this wall I let the chalk paint dry for about a week so it would have enough time to fully set in and cure once everything was fully dried I removed the blue tape and I then created a layer of chalk to prep the chalk wall this creates a barrier on the chalk so that when you write on to the chalkboard for the first time it's not going to scratch up the wall this got really messy but it was really fun to put together once that layer of chalk was on the wall I then wiped it down with a wet rag and the chalk wall was complete so far I like the design of the chalk wall a little bit more compared to the previous one just because it's one flat surface and I don't really have to worry about any nails or spaces in between the boards we'll see how I feel about this once I actually start writing on the chopped-off but for the most part it's completely done and after about a week this is the finished chocolate enjoyed this video it was the first time that I actually did a behind-the-scenes non DIY tutorial kind of video let me know if you guys want to see more of these behind the scenes kind of videos and also let me know in the comment section what you guys want to see in the future since I'm going to be getting back into making videos on regular thanks for watching get crafty crafty I'll see you guys next time make sure to check out my last two videos up here and yeah see you guys take care and stay crafty
