[Music] you welcome back to another installment of Netflix Avatar season 1 episode five Spirited Away a note to the writers Miyazaki says [ __ ] off with your uncreated and uninspired titles he also said any attempt to associate this show whether it was done voluntary or involuntary with his reputation that was earned by producing quality work for four decades is cheap lazy and disrespectful ass holes We Begin this episode with the gang running away from a squad of Fire Nation soldiers in the woods what they were doing who the [ __ ] knows anyway after being chased they stop and do the defensive bending Ang makes him fall and Sima does [ __ ] all however Katara Su shoots ice discs at soldiers giving them enough time to jump off a cliff and fly away on Opa then on Opa we learned why they were chased and being this far into the show it all makes sense once again girl boss mode was activated to show off qara Sue's water beding progress which she credits it all to the scroll that gr gr gave her water Earth fire air long ago shut the [ __ ] up now do we need to be told explicitly that guara su's water bending is improving are we too stupid to know that after each episode time has elapsed and the Bing that she performs is due to the experience she has gained even the original targeted for a younger audience didn't waste the time to tell us all that this tells me the writers are talking down to us not knowing or unsure if the actions conveyed enough information for us to make logical conclusions on our own what's so stupid about this is that they have the original to compare themselves against if the original didn't have to explain it then why the [ __ ] are they isn't that a simple Common Sense conclusion why is everyone so [ __ ] stupid now some of you are saying so what even if we figured out that qara who's Bening is better because she's gaining the experience it doesn't hurt to be assured that it's true however it does hurt it hurts the story telling redundant information ruins the pacing in the book The Elements of Style by shrunken white a book per Stephen King and his book about writing is the only book on writing that should be read cover to cover they state in rule 17 omit needless words these scenes are needless the dialogue is needless by including them they are being overly wory wasting the limited time they have and not Iz need to advance the story or give us character development so the writers really need to listen to Al and take his words to heart don't waste my [ __ ] time anyway flying over a valley Ang sees smoke so the gang flies down to investigate they see a burnt area of the forest and Sima finds a fire nation Medallion and says Fire Nation no [ __ ] thanks Sima the audience is just a bunch of [ __ ] simpletons that really needed that fa for a get on with it yes get over with it then a goes on to blame himself and [ __ ] and moans that he wasn't here to prevent this from happening and of course the reason is because he doesn't and nobody else for that matter wants to hear St cred of the Blessed sailboat [ __ ] and moan at him only you can prevent wildfires how dare you shut up but then Katara Sue gives Ang an acorn reassuring him that the forest will grow back believe it or not all of this is Source material even Ang blam me himself which I would still criticize the original for however the tone in the original is much more light-hearted and even though qara assures a the same way it isn't played up by activating girl boss mode and giving us this [ __ ] swooning musical Spiel then Sima sees an earth Nation girl and talks to her until she runs away they follow her back to a small Earth Nation Village and I'm sure you noticed no no body is Indian kill my people so apparently Earth Nation isn't exclusively Indian but rather om masu is more like new Bombay or something most humble and grateful thanks to you anyway we meet the little girl's dad and he tells them what happened to the forest and that some of the villagers including his son are missing Denny says this absurd [ __ ] this is something deeper something Beyond this world now this line reminds me of a line from a great movie what the hell was that maybe something trying to force its way into our world now listen to what Bruce Campbell said about the line from the Clary track yeah here's maybe something trying to force its way into our world why would you say that cuz it's a hor why would that thought occur to you now are we supposed to take this show like Evil Dead 2 [Music] bringing us back to the show remember what the dad said he said his son is missing because of that [ __ ] he just mentioned because he believed it to be true is all that matters so what the [ __ ] is he letting his daughter run out into the woods to play all by herself then what the [ __ ] kind of parenting is that who are these sick people what the [ __ ] kind of parent is he my son is missing being out in the woods so I'm going to let my little daughter just [ __ ] around in the same place where my son you stupid [ __ ] [ __ ] remember the show was intended to be watched by kids not written by kids detect it to no going and you tell me do things I done running taking this segment of this episode is like a little microcosm of the entire show this Hoople head is a representation of the writers and the daughter is a representation of the story the story runs off looking to have fun and use her imagination with an adventurous spirit all good things then she sees Simka who represents a constraint on the story as he is one of the main characters the hooplehead writers use to weave their narrative which makes the story say to herself [ __ ] hell the story can't continue her adventure and explore this place anymore because this [ __ ] is blocking her way and will force her to to exposit a bunch of [ __ ] you'd find out just by seeing the things she does on the way so instead of continuing out further the story runs back home forcing us to revisit the same real estate twice and introducing us to the hooplehead Riders they do not have the adventurous Spirit like the story they're devoid of creativity and Imagination and would never step more than 10t away from The Establishment or else being called for being out of line with the overlords because the story coward behind the writers they hold the story hostage preventing her from playing and being free to express her adventurous self we don't get to experience what the story wants to show us instead we get the writers telling us what the story should be doing this is [ __ ] but hey I'm in and that my friends is a little story within the story now did I make all that up on my own am I over projecting this onto the writers probably most probably but can you blame me for trying to have some fun while watching this [ __ ] no anyway way Ang agrees with the dad and tells him he could get them back okay the little girl the dad that display obvious bad parenting do you think any of that was Source material of course you didn't because the bad parenting dad who just had his son go missing it is completely devoid of Common Sense however it is completely in line with a woke Dei agenda godamn it [ __ ] H [ __ ] hell in the original while the gang is looking around the burnt Forest they visited by an old man unlike the hooplehead dad letting his daughter play around the burnt Forest where his son went missing and meeting Sima the old man comes investigating because he saw Opa up in the sky that's the difference between plausibility and someone forcing something down your throat anyway the old man takes him back to his village and tells him about the Hai Spirit attacking and taking some of the villagers it's a very simple dilemma really just to show the character development of as he doesn't know anything about the spirit world that's it simple just do what the source material did but of course the hoop head riters are just too stupid to follow the blueprint already laid out for them godamn it [ __ ] H [ __ ] hell back with Zuko he asked if there's been any Avatar sightings and a subordinate that looks like a snow monkey says no until he mentions something about some people playing with ice blocks and Zuko [ __ ] at him saying that is something out of the ordinary of course Zuko is right and he's right to be angry at the snow monkey for not pointing this out the issue is the sighting of ice blocks is something that is so obviously out of place that even the snow monkey should have realized just by sheer Common Sense him not pointing this out makes no sense so the point of the scene is the great animosity between the snow monkey and Zuko but because it's so contrived its fake drama for the sake of just creating drama this is bad [ __ ] ryan. wastes our [ __ ] time what the [ __ ] is going on up there then we go back to the fire naan palace with aula oh is that one about the hook with this she's talking to oai about Commander Xiao while spewing platitudes and kissing her dad's ass when he finally agrees with her suggestion to redirect some resources to Xiao then as she leaves he tells her that it was Zuko not Xiao that found the Avatar and she leaves to ball like a [ __ ] baby this scene story-wise doesn't do anything wrong it moves it along normally but character-wise it's a complete disaster aula kissing her dad's ass shows deference not like a leader but rather like a cowardly yes man there's no sense of self-confidence or intelligence in her and the ironic thing about this is that Azula in the original is a [ __ ] earned and approved girl boss the woke Dei agenda wants every female character to be a girl boss well this show gives us one that everybody has already approved of as being an absolute badass and putting aside the bad casting for a moment there was no reason to [ __ ] up the characterization to make her a girl boss because she was already One to begin with godamn it [ __ ] [ __ ] [ __ ] H and of course seeing her about to cry doesn't make us pity her but reinforces how petulent she is in this version to show double down I'm [ __ ] up the antagonist of the show well boo [ __ ] who then of course we need to address oai yes Zuko found the Avatar so [ __ ] what that's how it should have been left but apparently he's proud at his son's accomplishment all of a sudden why zuga was banished from the Fire Nation his only way back is to find the Avatar who has been appeared for 100 years do you think oai gave him that mission thinking he'd be successful accomplishing it so again why the [ __ ] is he so proud of Zuko now you [ __ ] [ __ ] anyway back with the Ang gang they're taking a leisurely stroll in the woods with Ang being responsible after a cringy stroll they get to a burnt clearing with statues of animals Ang says this is the place and begins meditating to enter the spirit world after some more cringe dialogue Ang enters the spirit world however it isn't just him but he pulls in Sima and qara Sue what the hell meanwhile zuku and iro visit a fire nation occupied town and ask around if there were any waterbending sightings the people say no until the bartender says the Avatar has been traveling with some water benders this info pisses off Zuko realizing that everybody knows about the Avatar and other people will now be in search of him as well then they meet June who in my opinion is the best cast character so far unlike me oh wait you serious let me laugh even harder now of course she isn't supposed to be here but they Jam her into the story line back with the Ang gang they're taking another leisurely stroll this time in the spirit world when they came across a huge barn nowl now I thought this was just a spirit that looked like a farn out but no according to imdb.com this is Wong sheong what the hell is he doing here Simka and karasu only hear Hoots but a can understand him stating that the longer they are in the spirit world the more in danger they are Ang tells him they're just looking for friends and then they'll leave then the owl tells him there's a person that lives in the Hut along the path that can help them then Ang asks what kind of danger is there and he tells them there are creatures that will show them the truth which will cause them pain then he tells them to stay on the path and leaves how convenient Wong shiong was just standing at that spot along the path like a [ __ ] information booth we don't need our protagonists to actually solve the dilemmas that confront them because the dilemmas will solve themselves automatically right yes back in the Fire Nation we see aula sparing with a nobody and of course she kicks his ass like nothing even though we aren't even close to season 3 we see her on the verge of going batshit crazy now let me take it a step back for a moment look at aula here in this scene do you see the chicken neck walk I understand this is probably just me but if I was auditioning her and I saw her with a chicken neck walk I would eliminate her from getting the roll even if she looked an acly theart the chicken neck walk is so pronounced and so [ __ ] annoying it ticks me out of the show every single time what the [ __ ] is this then add back the fact that she doesn't look the part and her acting isn't anything to write home about should only make the decision that much easier I do like the ladies you know I do like them I like a d anyway Ty and may are there and we revisit azula's petulant again how many times do I need to refer to ryers to talk to Al don't waste my [ __ ] time back with Zuko iro hires June to help them find the Avatar back with the Yang gang he tells them what wangi Tong told them they will see the truth then they encounter the Hai spirit that charges at them and recognize it as the forest Spirit immediately [ __ ] hell then they realize they can't bend in the spirit world going after kataru Simka actually does something oh yeah he throws a rock at the Spirit changing its attention to him from being Saka for a fleeting moment he reverts back to Simka and gets [ __ ] slapped by the spirit oh you kicked me right in the [ __ ] then the spirit Roars and emits the fog of lost souls you already know this isn't sorts material and even the fog of lost souls isn't even in the show at all and it was introducing in the legend of Kora so you're probably wondering what the [ __ ] is something from Kora doing in this show the answer is who the [ __ ] knows mother [ __ ] anyway Sima talks to a white fox Spirit when it leaves after telling him to be careful because the fog is dangerous tarasu follows the voice of a girl then wakes up back in her Village to see her mother then she relives the moment when the fire nation invaded her Village fire with them looking for a water bender her mother says she's the one andar Su watches her mother burnt like a s'more the duck's burn you're cooking in a burned pan you [ __ ] dick then we see Sima awarded for passing his ice dodging trials he hears in secret his dad's disappointment in his test and that batu's Aid is the reason why he passed and says he doesn't have what it takes to be a leader of course this disappoints Sima and makes him cry like a [ __ ] just to be clear I'm not knocking him for being disappointed and I'm not knocking him him for even crying what I am knocking him for is crying like a [ __ ] showing disappointment is a good thing it means you had a goal that you wanted to accomplish even crying is okay because it is a coping mechanism to recover one's psyche but to do it like a little [ __ ] doesn't exude leadership qualities it only reaffirms to us that Simka is just a [ __ ] hey Al can you give Sima a pep talk who ever told you that you could work with men your [ __ ] child back with Ang he's walking down a dark tunnel when he's met by CL the face stealer what the hell is he doing here after a brief conversation Ang runs out of the tunnel and sees the Hut he's been looking for when he goes inside it's monu what the hell is he doing here we get this touchy feely reunion along with a buttload of exposition monkey ATU tells Ang exactly what Co is and what it's going to do which we got from Co from their first conversation in the tunnel just what 3 minutes ago so again we revisit the same real estate twice hey Al a little help please don't waste my [ __ ] time now why hasn't Co fed on their souls already the villagers have been missing for some time now what the [ __ ] is co waiting for how convenient and waited for Ang to show up to attempt a rescue when Co is just about to eat their souls Ang comes out of the spirit world and uses Zuko's notebook to find the temple of of Roku [ __ ] hell then we get this voiceover narration from monke ASU talking about being in pain and we see aula practicing her fire bending while Tye and may are sleeping on the ground for some reason and we see Zuko chugging along on his boat as Ang flies at roku's Temple and that ends episode five as you saw nothing much happened all the Ang gang did was see a burnt part of the forest take a closer look realize it was done by the Fire Nation find find out why try to find some missing local villagers and have a Merry Little stroll in the spirit world until some [ __ ] happens what about Zuko he goes to a village looking for leads to the Avatar and he hires June that's it and finally we had to check in with chicken neula for some [ __ ] up reason to see she's still a petulent [ __ ] brat absolute [ __ ] and that'll do it for this video we're in the home stretch now my friends as always many thanks for watching I do hope you'll finish this journey with me until then only you can prevent forest fires people are suffering people are shut up shut up shut up
