today is the day today is Avatar day you know why because Netflix decided to go ham and release a ton of insane reveals today we have a bunch of new images of the show but we also have a little bit of controversy that we're going to go over as well there's also a first look of Zuko versus qara there's even a new clip of Ang going out there as well it's just all so insane also speaking of a he shouted me out in the ew article today which is insane Netflix first reached out to me and then Gordon himself shouts me out it has all just been so surreal honestly feeling a bit of imposter syndrome right now Netflix Gordon if you guys are watching thank you so much and uh you know I heard you guys are going to have a premiere for the show anyway most of the reveals come from an interview on the Entertainment Weekly from the cast I'm going to go over some parts of the interview I found interesting and then I'm going to go over all the images that are attached and lastly we're going to go over the new clips so be sure to stay for all of that and let's get into it firstly can we all just appreciate how awesome this video is as attached to the article it looks so sick one of the more interesting things about this article is when Albert Kim compares the live action to the cartoon stating that the liveaction vibe is much more similar to season 2 and three of the cartoon so it's just a better blend of comedy and seriousness and tackle some of those more mature themes that you see in season 2 and three how Ang coded is this this sounds just like Ang you know Ang's just being a little bit too honest here and it's just somehow talking about this topic it's kind of wholesome you know weird way these next two Quotes come from qara who's played by GYN Dio and Saka who's played by Ian Oley and I kind of have a lot to say about it guyn Dio says I feel like we took out the element of how sexist Saka was I feel like there were a lot of moments in the original show that were iffy and Ian asley agrees with her saying yeah totally there are things that were redirected just because it might play out a little differently I will admit this in modern times having Saka B sexus is kind of a slippery slope but Saka be and sexus is a part of his character development he would say things like girls are better at fixing pants and guys and guys are better at hunting and fighting but he would later go on to get humbled by the Kyoshi Warriors in the Kyoshi Warriors episode Saka learns that there are girls who do the same things that he does and they do them even better than he does the Kyoshi warriors were more skilled than him they were more disciplined they were stronger this makes Saka rethink his whole life philosophy this makes Saka go from an immature kid who was sexist to a man that respects everybody now you guys know me I'm not one to immediately jump on the bandwagon of oh my God everything's so bad like no I don't do that I haven't seen the show I'm not going to call this a bad change yet there is a chance that Saka goes through another Arc that is just as satisfying maybe he goes through this whole Arc where non-benders can be useful in season 1 instead of in season 3 and it's still super impactful to his character I really just need to see what they do because it could be amazing or it could be bad who knows as for the new images there are so many of them and they all have me so hyped here is aula and oai now there is a few really cool things in this image for one we now know the writing system of the Avatar World in live action you can see Chinese characters here on this scroll but it's not the Chinese that we all know and see everywhere this Chinese is written vertically not horizontally leading me to believe that this is traditional Chinese and not modern Chinese now of course I don't speak Chinese I don't write Chinese so I could be wrong on this but I'm pretty sure I'm right I don't know if you guys remember the 2010 movie they didn't use a real world writing system for that movie they actually made up their own scripts and their own language so it kind of just looked like scribbly lines in the background I tend to like what Netflix is doing a little bit more I wish I could somehow translate this text but it's just a little bit too blurry if we could translate it we could know where this scene comes from the casual outfits in the show are just straight fire the traditional robe look that aoula has on right now it looks really cool this scene could be oai showing aula some reports of the Avatar returning or maybe it's at the very end of the season when Xiao fails this is Jet and qara it seems to be the exact same scene in the trailer of them fighting the Fire Nation jet looks all cool calm and collected but qara definitely looks a little bit worried I wonder if this is before or after their fight with the Fire Nation because I feel like it could be either actually it would have to be before right there's a clip that we're going to be talking about later in this video that may be related to this exact image and it makes me think we may be getting auko versus qara and Jet scene now that would be really interesting because the Jet and zuka plot line in season 2 would have to change but who knows if that's even the case here is Saka learning from Suki I really like the detail of Saka being a little bit unsure of himself right here Saka is more of this brute fighter he's a little sloppy a little angry at times but here he's learning a real martial art something that's delicate more like a dance and he looks a little awkward doing it honestly kind of reminds me of myself when I first learned how to box I was just so awkward doing it for the life of me I just couldn't not understand footwork the background of the Koshi Warriors Dojo seems to be more inspired by traditional Japanese dojos this is such a funny image to release Ang looks amazed while qara looks kind of sad and Saka man I just think Saka is trying to figure out what's going on honestly what could they be looking at to all have such different emotions the only thing I could think of is the mechanist episode I think that would make sense a Amazed by all the gadgets uh he doesn't have to be salty this time because they didn't take the northern Temple so now it's just good vibes from him Sak's engineer brain is probably going wild Maybe This Time Qatar is the one that suspects that this is firein Nation I don't know the Zuko and iro one is also pretty interesting because they look amazed at something they're in front of Zuko's Conspiracy Theory Board now I know I just pointed this out in my last video but it seems like Dragon culture is much more ingrained in Fire Nation culture this time around like much more than in the cartoon Zuko's Conspiracy Theory Board is filled with dragon scales and so are most of the Fire Nation outfits as well actually since the board isn't filled out very much like we see in the trailer this kind of leads me to believe that this scene is early on in the show maybe this is right after Ang breaks free as I'm recording this video Albert Kim posted another photo of Ang and this one is really interesting here is ang reading a book and that's kind of weird right but also there's hey statue in the background now this book in the background was not in the original I was told a massive spoiler a while back about a book and someone really surprising owning it I'm not going to spoil that for you guys but I will say this at the time it almost seemed out of character for that character to have this kind of book but seeing that character in live action it makes much more sense now I'm not going to spoil who it is because that would be messed up because it's actually a cool change but also I don't even know if this was related what if this is how Roku tells Ang to come to the temple what if it's completely different yeah I I just don't know also can I just say that is an amazing shot by the way as for the the clips that I mentioned earlier we have meet Ang and meat qara and both are surprisingly revealing meang starts off with Ang showing off some air bending to qara this seems like it takes place right before they go on the Fire Nation ship which is in the background here this is probably when Qatar was like you're a bender you can teach me how to water bend which is not how it works and of course Ang doesn't know how to water bend so he probably just shows her some air bending here and maybe he even explains the basics of bending the dialogue in the background is yo telling Ang that he's special he's the most talented Airbender he's ever known but Ang he doesn't want to be special he just wants to be a regular kid gatso tells Ang that he's the Avatar and the clip ends this is technically our first ever look at gatso it seems like in this show we're going to be getting a lot more scenes of gatu and Ang interacting which could be really cool something else that I noticed which I may add could just be the lighting but probably not gato's Arrow almost looks like a solid Blue Line while Ang's Arrow has a bunch of design Des inside of it I'm thinking this was done on purpose tattoos in real life fade away a little bit as you age guazo is extremely old the designs in his tattoo are fading a little bit and that would make sense but again it could all just be the lighting here meet qara starts off with katara's first time manipulating water you can hear Ang in the background of this clip sounding adorable he's like qara you're a water bender I do actually like the dialogue in this clip qara is like I'm a warrior I should be doing more for my people and as she's saying this we get this really great shot of the Southern water tribe now that is a lot more members than in the cartoon in the cartoon wasn't it just grand grand Saka qara and like five different kids this is a lot of people however I think they nailed the aesthetic the aesthetic looks amazing if you look closely you can see that the igloos and structures in the background are made with bones I saw this in the trailer too but I wasn't too sure so I didn't say anything but now this kind of confirms what I was thinking we got this clip of qara water bending a couple days ago and we didn't know where it from but now in this new clip released today it's been extended here is qara shooting water at Zuko and Zuko blasting fire right back at her causing a massive explosion the clip ends with qara saying it's their duty to protect the avatar
