NetApp HCI NetApp Deployment Engine Demo

hi my name is Troy Mangum and I want to introduce you to NetApp HCI NetApp's first enterprise scale hyper-converged infrastructure here's an example of our 4u starter system net up HCI allows our customers to scale compute and storage independently based on your applications needs each chassis can house storage nodes compute nodes and or a mixture of both on the top left hand side you can see our compute node with 4 10 25 gig Ethernet ports and on the top right hand side you can see our storage nodes our enterprise scale architecture puts our customers applications needs first you have the flexibility to scale as you require versus having to buy resources you don't need because of a monolithic inflexible HCI architecture we're going to be talking next about the net up deployment engine we have taken over 400 steps and reduced them down to less than 30 steps so you can get your net up HCI system running in about 45 minutes we go through our prerequisites we go through our end-user License Agreement we will be installing ESXi on the compute nodes you purchase it comes with a 60 day trial license which you can upgrade or you can use your own we will give you the opportunity to create a new V Center deployment or join an existing V Center deployment for your system the username and passwords are used all throughout the net up cluster and for V Center so you only have to enter these one place we dynamically discover the inventory for you the example here is of our smallest system which is to compute nodes and for storage nodes this is our starter system for NetApp HCI here is where we really help you during your deployment is very easy to put the wrong IP address in when you were entering them manually we are not only validating IP addresses in the range but we're also validating that the IP address and the role of the server tied to the IP address is correct so we validate the NTP server and the DNS server there's nothing worse than getting an IP address incorrect than having to troubleshoot a deployment and to search for what went wrong we give you a nice review of what you are about to deploy and as you can see we have pre-configured all the IP addresses required for this deployment it looks good to me so let's go you can copy it to a clipboard for your later reference now we're going to walk through the steps and again these steps are going to take about 45 minutes or less we're setting up V Center we're configuring the management node thank you for watching this demo make sure you watch the vCenter plugin demo where we will go through day one through day in operations for NetApp HCI
