but not hi everyone hi everyone we just said i'm ready but not not yes welcome to needles at the ready welcome you want to say it nope you said it every time man no what the beginning is silly i know i i didn't know what you were asking me what do i want to say it looked like you wanted to be the one to say welcome needle to needles at the ready but i was trying to avoid repeating what you were saying but you can we can start over i feel like we do it all do it every episode so my name is ray i'm kevin we're married we are wow yeah we know we say that we don't say it often and somebody had just asked i got a comment like overnight asking if we were dating so um we're married we're coming to you guys from stratfor connecticut where we live with our dog tarquin yup who's a yorkie and is currently sleeping in the bedroom hopefully he'll still he'll stay asleep he should i took him for a nice walk nice and early we're recording this at 9 42 a.m on saturday april something april 17th today is april 17th and this is episode number 30 nope 36. we were almost there 35 i'm actually guys i'm j just so you guys know i'm not prepared today i don't have any notes um well i look at i just looked at the calendar to see what episode we're on because that's how we measure time um so yeah i'm so not prepared it's i got up quite early today i got up at quarter after six yeah you did get up nice and early oh this is episode 35. see ooh i was right you were a good job we already did that but no all right so yeah so this is a that's our little fiber related youtube channel where we talk about knitting crocheting dying yeah um yarn buying yarn buying no it's restocking our pantry restocking our yarn pantry also some we got some gifts in the mail so that's really fun yeah we've had a really all right let's awesome two weeks before we talk about that can we talk about food for a moment no because every time we talk about we do we do really well and then we have a podcast and then we want to go and eat like i know junk food we're probably going to do that today so guys we i don't know yeah prop maybe because so there's a couple things i have to celebrate a couple of pounds of weight loss we're gonna go 10 pounds of weight loss we'll order something we'll order some so let's talk about this for a minute so it's kind of like in our two week roundup we started weight watchers a couple weeks ago yep and i like it but i'm always hungry um i have to eat like salads and stuff no lettuce is a waste it's not no it tastes like nothing and i'm not gonna douse it in dressing because no i hate vinegar yeah but there's other types of dressing that you can use frosting no you're weird continue on so it's not the type of food conversation i wanted to have no so what made me think of food is while you were getting ready i was downstairs on facebook and i was watching a taste made video what is that like you know like how you just scroll through and there's videos so one of the like pages is taste made so they're like ways to use your watermelon cuts up the watermelon and like a pretty big deep slice okay and then slices out the middle of this slice so that you still have some watermelon on the side like imagine the triangle watermelon then they go in and they take out the middle of it but you still have like the shape of it so you have like like this like yeah you have like a little thin slice on each side okay of your slice of watermelon then they proceed to mix together strawberry ice cream whipped heavy whipping cream some food coloring some sugar vanilla put it in the freezer then they melt some chocolate and make little fake watermelon seeds then they take it out of the freezer they stuff the watermelon with ice cream with ice cream mixture and then put the fake chocolate on so at this point i'm watching it and i'm thinking to myself if i'm going to eat this i'm going to get a big old slice of cake and i'm going to get some real ice cream like why am i going to try to ruin a healthy watermelon snack right i thought it was stupid it sounds great though the idea of it sounds no it does sound great no that's no watermelon's delicious by itself it is but how are you fresh some salt or mint on it like a little salt and mint to bring out the flavors that's delicious but i mean if i'm gonna eat ice cream and watermelon i'm gonna get cake didn't we grill watermelon and pineapple this summer this past summer it was good pineapple for sure with like um cinnamon pumpkin pie seasonings um and then the other thing last thing about food do you know i realize why i always want this is not gonna be the last thing about food no no it actually won't be but why i always want sweets why because we pepper our house with sweet smelling hand soap and lotion i know i'm smelling my lotion yeah it smells so good how could you not want them i know this is a candy apple something all right so yes back to our two weeks so we started weight watchers that's going quite well yeah um we and i like it because like who cares if you mess up a day you mess up a day it's not meant to be like a diet it's really just meant to be like you know hey yeah do a little bit better truth that's all but you messed up it's okay do a little better tomorrow yeah it's no it's like i mean you're paying for like a six month subscription to this thing it's not like a it's a lifestyle we got some of their snacks some their snacks aren't too bad they're nacho chips once you get used to them yeah the texture is a little bit different the flavor is a little but they're not um so we did weight watchers we um and then so i'll say like the weeks at least for me personally the weeks had like really highs and then some lows right so last time that we recorded that was actually i think the four year anniversary of my dad passing yeah so that day was just like eh yeah i watched um harry potter and the order of the phoenix because it was the last movie me and my dad watched together we watched it like twice in one day yeah um and i went to bed super early i had no energy i was just like exhausted by the end of that day you might be at like 7 30. yeah i remember like the night before i woke up at midnight and i thought to myself i was like oh man i would have gotten that call like in four hours so like the whole day it's i don't know if i'm assuming for other people but it's just an emotionally and mentally draining day so that was like but that carried over that that feeling carried over for like a full week maybe a week and a half of just like missing something no where i just couldn't get um like me like maybe even killed where i just was like my sleeping was off my my feelings were off like i just wasn't in like the best of moods for quite a while but so that was like my lows but then we had some really good highs we had amazing highs we reached well big milestone well we let's we i'm gonna say let's do we open up the etsy shop on a whim like yeah we had plans to do it and we were like you know we were definitely planning and doing some stuff on the background um getting some things together you had all those like skins like 33 skeins of yarn yeah just like random dyeing stuff nothing no like colorways and yeah all that stuff just stuff that i've been playing around with so the idea was there but then it was sunday last weekend we were just like oh let's just do it let's take photos get everything up and boom dutch out um because we weren't sure if people were actually going to like want to buy things or whatever so we're knitters we buy things i know knitters are bad huh i mean anybody in the fiber arts i know yeah you're right whether you're a spinner a crocheter speaking of spinning michael's now if you guys don't watch peace for peace crafting uh we'll link him below but he uh he just got into spinning and he's having a really good time he's he's doing really well yeah we knit with him on thursdays he's part of our thursday night knit group and uh he was talking about some of the large rabbit holes that he's going down to like buy some of this fiber anyway yeah so so we open that up and to everybody who made a purchase seriously thank you oh my god so much like we were so sweet i'm getting goosebumps now like it was just beyond humbling yeah right i mean yeah um i i it reminded me of starting this channel like i remember i still remember the day i came up here to hit record and the angle's all weird on the ipad this is a video the lighting like i feel like we're sharing a lot of emotions today um but i remember being incredibly nervous because you never know how you're going to be received or something you put out is going to be received and i think that's actually the most that in the the in at least for me the um the thought of failing maybe but i think putting yourself out there and and how it's going to be received and then maybe that idea of it's not going to do well and you can take it as a failure um so those are the learning experiences right but it's it's the that's the things that i remember like it's so scary to start to hit that record button here for the first time and just even today even now you know like no no i mean i don't know i'm always i always think like that too like oh well maybe people are gonna start hating us soon oh my gosh you're so terrified he really is so dramatic guys i can't even tell you there's some stuff he says at this house what i i you no you i call him susan lucci like you're you know you're you're skating on thin ice but no but it's true and then you know and then people buy that buy it and then it's like oh my gosh now we actually have to like you know ship everything so we spend oh yeah we spent monday night um sitting on the living room floor kevin's like yeah we'll do it like take like 25 minutes no like three hours later so we sold out of everything yeah which i we i just couldn't it's amazeballs it was amazing and um you know hopefully we packaged everything like we you know it's all a learning experience for us too so we tried to like include some fun things um we are starting to get some feedback now because people have started to get the yarn yeah that's another um yeah that's super exciting yeah it's so exciting um to hear and then somebody's package had gotten damaged i guess in the mail um so we're we're going to be looking at some different mailers yeah packaging we tried to um i thought i brought one up here but we tried to we want to have like biodegradable like recycling a little bit yeah a little bit better for the environment packaging and stuff um because us is you know when we get all this stuff to our house it's like you look at after a delivery you're like wow what am i gonna do with this now right no and it's it's um i enjoy when i thought get a delivery and it says it's recyclable and yeah the package in the um recycling bin so yeah so thank you again anybody who made a purchase like yes totally totally appreciate it i um can't thank you enough you know i i i mean think ray two for buying me the die yeah for christmas and getting this like little thing started i well i'm happy for you i think it's really exciting to see you you know be so excited about something yeah you know when trying different things you have that personality too where you're you're always like you're very analytical and like you're a process i like math and science so i think that's why i like this because there is math and science involved for your techniques for my right for what i'm doing you're what i'm trying i have no idea what literally you have no idea what yeah but no but i mean your colors are really cool people seem to really like them i really love them um so yeah we did a little so it was a little soft launch we um i don't know how often i'll have like a shop update yeah maybe but when we do we'll i don't know how we're how we'll announce stuff so we'll i think we'll announce it here okay first and then um instagram and instagram that kind of thing sounds good so that was one big thing and then another big thing was guys we hit 8 000 subscribers i know huge milestone i can't i still can't i i feel like every episode we're like i know guys really um so think again uh just another thank you to all you guys i um i had it we had a zoom a couple weeks ago with our friends and i said to them it was what's really fun about this community uh is being part of it and i said like when i was growing up i didn't have that group you know like i wasn't in band or i wasn't in theater or a jock or that like i didn't find my my group and it wasn't until like getting involved in the fiber community where i like actually finally feel like i found my people and like found what you know in that thing where you can say um i'm an actor i'm a singer or i'm a dancer or i'm a football player or you know whatever it is like i never had that thing where i was like i'm something if that makes sense where now it's like i'm a knitter or a dyer or a fiber artist or whatever it is but now i'm like something so it's really great to share share share not share although they do share sheep they do share sheets no but like to be able to share this with you guys every two weeks um and have you guys comment back um send us messages on instagram like really can't say how much it means and how enjoyable this experience has been i agree you're such a jerk i'm not a jerk i'm just thinking like it's really nice like 13 minutes of like our bleeding hearts just pouring out i feel like this is going to be a long chatty episode guys so barely but we we might be on a time limit as we have to keep an eye because we're bingo today we do have bingo today with the fiber fiber house of hustle fellas at one yep our time one our and then some other stuff that happens some shout outs that we'd like to recommend oh yeah so um to michael and michael over at peace for peace crafting and gary over at urban yarn um gave us little shout outs because they did join our men's knit night that we had a cup or late last month so um and they talked about how much they enjoyed it so we really appreciate that it was such a fun time and we'll talk about the next one in a little bit and then this one like kind of blew my mind yeah i mean so it hey all right here's the thing anytime we get a shout out from anyone like you should see us in our living room watching other podcasts on youtube like because we literally stop and look at each other we're like is this like for real right um this i can't so we're both home yesterday and i look at you know and i'm going through the comments because we try to stay on top of them and i saw one that said was it yesterday no was thursday thursday thursday it was like hi just like checking you out jody mentioned you from the grocery girls i'm like what like are you kidding me so um and i don't know i don't even know but you know it's it's i think it's just because like like you said it's it's when anybody it is you know shout this out and then the grocery girls so for me personally and i mention this if you actually go back to like episode three of this podcast i talk about like that was really kind of their like because of them like lit the fire under me like you know with podcasts that was the first podcast that i watched that i was like laughing i was like because i made fun of him like i was just gonna say i yeah i remember this vividly i remember sitting on the couch and ray was getting ready to go to bed he was walking up the stairs laughing at me because he's like what are you watching because kevin's like laughing out like literally laughing out loud so he hears it he hasn't seen it yet um and i was like oh i'm watching a podcast i'm watching the grocery girls and he's like a knitting podcast i'm like yeah and he would you know come in and out or catch a little bit here there and then he started watching and that's what i think i just started watching because like you had just turned it on on the random weekend and i was just like sitting on the couch you weren't knitting at this point no i didn't i wasn't i probably wasn't doing anything so and it you know and it gives i don't know so again just like thank you thank you ladies for for watching and for giving us a shout out um thank you to everybody like i really can't this this last two weeks like we said it had some lows but i had some really really great highs so totally one other high happened today oh my gosh that's another thing guys i got my covid my first vaccine shot today 8 35 this morning so i was up and out of the house got that um i was a little surprised though because they didn't make me stay in like i was surprised i thought like you have to wait 15 minutes they're like up here's your shot um you know stay in the store for 5-10 minutes make sure you're not dizzy or whatever um but yeah so i got my first shot i got my next one on may 8th i believe and then what 10 days after that i'm like i think it's 14 i don't know whatever i don't know the pfizer i'm not quite sure yeah i got pfizer so that was exciting because i just looked yesterday and the place that i went had 22 openings so i was able to get in bright and early so that was nice so yeah that's awesome six 17 minutes in has been our two weeks wow so that's actually been my two weeks what happened for you for two weeks do you haven't i've been riding your coattails for sure every every up you've had i've had every down you've had i've had you know it just i think i don't know it's been it's just been feeling it's been a really good yeah just felt like a really good two weeks it has been yeah so i feel like gary like gary from we mentioned gary from urban yarn just a little while ago but he had mentioned on a pot on one of his podcasts a couple of weeks ago maybe that just like everything just seemed to be going his way yeah i remember that you know and it's really awesome when when that happens to people and so hopefully you know hopefully it'll happen to you because you know it happened to us this past two weeks it's been really really cool all right let's uh let's holy cow are you all still around let's talk about some let's get into some knitting just like some you know the ad mini stuff we have three coupon codes for you guys our first one is from anything down do you know nancy at trilogy yarn this coupon code excludes her clubs and kits wait clubs clubs i'm not sure about her kids i i forget i have typically have this right now but it is um natr15 yep so it's 15 off then we have knotting knitting sacks we do which we love her bags she always has naughty and not naughty so be sure to check out her shop looks like she just got a shipment of some new fabric in as well if you don't follow her on instagram follow her on instagram for sure i love following me too she does like cooking i know she's like very very creative um so that one that coupon code is also for 15 off it is prickle pants 15. and then our last one is from knit swag i love it so that's 15 off i think it's kevin ray it's just kevin right right i don't think there's a 15 at the end no i think so here is an example of knit swag's swag this is a both of these are harry potter mugs golden snitch lightning bolt these were gifted to us from two viewers who were super generous i like you guys thank you so much it's really cool also to see people tagging us in in uh amnit swag in some of their like mugs and it's really neat to see when we're watching other podcasts um yeah you know kelly kelly behind knit swag she's just like so talented and she's willing to work with you and she does like custom things so cool we'll have her shop definitely listed below but preston and stephanie thank you very much so much we we were so excited to pull this out yeah yeah um so we love knit swag these three coupon codes will be below in the description where our show notes are here's her um i don't know if you can see it yeah but it's and it's all knit stitches right it's stockinette stitches to make the pattern so it's really really awesome we love our mugs we have like four or five now each i know it's yesterday i was putting away um dishes from the dishwasher and i was contemplating getting almost we're almost to the point where we can get rid of all of our other mugs i know that's fun yeah all right so now i think we're into the no we have one more thing we have a knit along going on right now that's right um that goes until may 31st no 30 days half september april june and november 31st um and that is the spring cleaning make along we have a ton of people interacting there uh it's on ravelry and instagram yes so the hashtag on instagram is spring cleaning any fudge we are sewed up so what else what do you expect this is how we roll i know so the idea behind this one was just to get some of our whips finished so it was to get our whips done before the end of spring um so we are going to pull prizes from the chatter the fo and instagram um and then so while he's looking that up the other thing i'll mention is that we are going to be doing our men's knit zoom knit we'll say night it's not going to really be night next saturday we're going gonna do it from two to four p.m allow it to run over to five um even east coast time so eastern time we're gonna put a sign up form below in the description um just so we have a good idea we're limited to a hundred people i think in our zoom and if we get that so last one we loved we had about 40 something people if we get to the point where there's going to be um like 100 people we'll probably do breakout rooms this time we don't know we'll test the waters but yeah if you can make it next saturday the 24th i believe um for the midnight we'd love to have you it again will be at from 2 p.m till we'll say 4 to 5 p.m eastern time yes and there are yeah did you talk about the i'm sorry the google form is going to be below yep and in the description the um the next one after that we'll do it like at all we're gonna we'll do it in yeah every anybody yeah we'll do like an open open knit yeah open it with us um so there are actually two some people are posting under two different ones we'll i don't know we'll look at both but i think the one that we actually listed is hashtag natr spring mal 2021 okay so there's a lot of there's a lot of posts in there oh lisa posted her oh yeah i think we talked about this yeah we talked about lisa's um scarf i love it i know it's so good i can get so distracted i love seeing what you guys do oh my gosh so let's talk about some knitting look at those socks i know beautiful okay knitting i have one 22 minutes in kevin i know i have one fo and i have one whip okay i have one fo you have a half no you don't have no not yet not quite i have one fo and one two three three whips and a i'm gonna end like a a prep i have a not like a dream knitting i have my next whip up here too okay so do you want to go first yeah i can go first so i finished the socks that you saw last time i think was a hoe these are oh my god look it look at the cool i just love the color i love it so much this was the first sock that i did um this is using nancy from trilogy yarns oop i don't want to talk to you siri um on her i so i am part of her happy hour club the and the way that her clubs work is that you get three months and then if you don't want to continue you don't have to it automatically ends after three months if you want to re-up then you can you can change your bases so i'll show you in a second because i did change my base but i had this is the second no the third installment of um trilogy yarns happy hour club this is on her plush base which is a four-ply mcn 80 superwash merino 10 cashmere 10 nylon it's 450 yards 100 grams this is mint chocochata martini which is awesome apparent and and part of her club she sends a recipe for the actual drink that it's inspired by which i have yet to do no i mean we don't drink often i know but we should start no it's so many points to have a dream i know it's so true so i have both of the socks they're they're the same but different what i love about this one is that there's like these little like micro micro striping with these like rivers of you know colors so fun i did this in the um i didn't do obviously you can tell that i didn't do contrasting heels toes or cuffs i did it all in the same um same yarn i do have still have yarn left over oh nice yeah so there's nine grams left over okay um of yarn and i did not measure i didn't weigh the the skein of yarn because when i did the math and i weighed the first stock um i did the math and i thought i would have only three grams left over so somehow i have nine so you know sometimes the skeins can have a little bit more a little bit less than the hundred grams yeah so i'm wondering if that's the case but anyway um regardless it was enough for me to do um to do two full-length socks for my size 12 feets and i am going to put this on ravelry and i know i said that last time too but now that i i did it they're on the blockers i'm gonna take pictures and then um this is i used it's a vanilla sock pattern um i took bits and pieces from different patterns which i can you know we all do but um i do do these on nine inch circular needles and so i followed the cat ladies uh i don't know if it's called i'll i'll put the pattern below i think it's like her socks on nine inch circulars or something like that is what it's called she's youtube video um just for some of her like her counts because i still don't i don't have these heels and stuff memorized i still have to like refer back to a pattern oh for sure you know um so i was just using hers as like a reference but i did a two by two rib i did a row of purl bump uh uh pearls so you have a stockinette no a garter ridge right here i did um 70 rows i did a slip stitch heel flap and gusset and then the entire sock and then i did a rounded toe here the entire sock was a total of 150 rows it was difficult i measured mentioned this last time to measure the length from um from the edge of the slip stitch for or the heel for some reason for me it didn't like i had to take the first sack out the measurements didn't go so well but i measured afterwards and i have some i don't know if you guys care so much but for these socks my gauge was about eight stitches per inch i have about negative inch uh sorry one inch of negative ease because i measured all this other stuff i did 2.25 millimeter needles 72 stitches leg including the cuff is seven and a quarter inches um i told you i did seventy rows which is about six inches after the cuff because the cuff itself was about like an inch in how many rows for did you do for your cuff 15 okay 15 rows um did my heel flap and gusset and then the though the leg after that it was about eight and a half inches no no it's eight and i did about eight and a half inches here and then i put and then i put the toe and i decreased every other row till i got the 20 stitches on the needle and then i decreased every row until i got to 12. and then that's when i did my kitchener oh okay yep so that's and i'll post all that on ravelry someday soon or just someday we'll just say someday it'll be there soon but yeah i love them i think they're they're really awesome yeah i really really love that color yeah isn't that cool yeah i love how it's like i don't know i'm happy with this a lot very very very happy and the mcn base is amazing on my feet i did the first club colorway the blueberry tea um and i've been wearing those like crazy they're so soft on my feet so that i need to i need to cast on socks i haven't knit up socks in a while yeah i just love i love having them on i know i do too but i keep forgetting to like cast stuff on i know i think if you just cast it on and just like put it to the side even if you're not gonna work on it right away i know this way it's already there i've been super monogamous with my knitting though like you really have like abnormally so yeah um you know what else we forgot to talk about what we're wearing oh yeah look at that here so i'll stand up i got us some new shirts from redbubble so mine says that's what i do i knit and i know things it's a take on um game of thrones when he says that's what i do i drink and i know things yep and mine is if i'm sitting i'm knitting it's sitting i'm knitting because it's so true like honestly monday whenever we packaged the all the shipments that was the first time i kid you not in like at least 10 months that i could remember you not knitting like a single stitch all in on it yesterday you probably knit for 12 hours no i did knit for a a bit yesterday i finished the socks yesterday i did the 12 hours of knitting i did the toe yesterday in the kitchener and then i'll show you some other things that i did yesterday too all right whatever i wasn't feeling so good tarquin had like a incident the night before and then like i didn't sleep anyway all right i have my first fo or my only fo yep so this i cast on late last year barely worked on it just picked it up again two weeks ago and now it's done so this is my show the pattern dotted raise by stephen west here's a good picture of it this is a fingering weight shawl it is knit on but you can do a worsted weight version as well yeah there also is the pattern has two sizes so it has a small and a large the right is it fingering weight and worsted weight so there's a fingering weight and a worsted weight version you knit the fingering weight on a us6 or four millimeter needle and then the worsted is knit on a usb 8 or a 5 millimeter needle so i did mine in some hedgehog fibers yes um this is i have a couple more skeins of this in the colorway magpie and this is 90 merino 10 nylon and it's 100 grams for 400 yards so my mother i showed her my dotted raise which i have up here just so you guys can see the difference um and i showed her that in like another shawl that i knew and she asked for me to knit her the dotted raise in black and white so this is my finished um dotted rays let's stand up so you can see here we go so this i love it so much me too so this is really nice it is a garter garter stitch shawl guys so really really oh it smells good too um i use the [Music] pink grapefruit maybe so it's a garter ridge shawl that it has yarn overs and um short rows there's no picking up your wraps so it makes it super easy you have a nice um i-cord edging oh what happened there you got a little pop through no there just where i wove in my ends i always keep once i cut them i keep them just a little bit um longer yeah so the shawl itself starts right here which is crazy because it grows with the short rows it grows this way yeah so when i showed it last time i was somewhere around like here yes you knit a lot i knit a ton of this i used two full skeins of yarn and wow look at how cool that is what i love about this is i love that there's more white in the beginning area and it goes a little bit darker as the shawl gets bigger yeah but it never it's almost like a fade like face it never pulls so much that it's too heavily black or too heavily white in any area so i really do love the way that this um now did you alternate skeins i you know what i thought about that and i started and then i got about 10 rows and i was like no i no this is too much work right now so i said nope let's just cut the one skein out and then we'll add it back later so no i and i knew too looking at the two skeins even though um i don't know if these have die lots on them but i could tell that one was quite darker than the other so i was hoping that it would look good like that and if i had gone for the neck size up i would have looked for like a lighter one just to kind of balance it out so and we're probably and i think i'm you know what let's flip it because i think i'm showing you i know i thought so too but here's the correct side but still it's i mean it's garter stitch yeah um i so love this so much what a great idea to do the black and white yeah i honestly i wasn't sure at first yeah you know i really wasn't i wasn't sure how it was gonna look out or look but um i'm super pleased with this i think it's a perfect size too it is so what i did i went in between yeah so i'm going to show this one for you this is the first one i knit this is the small version this is knit out of amanda knits in avocado toast which is still a decent size it is yeah this is a great size um i love i love this guy i love this one i just love this shawl yeah um so this one if we can hold them up like the same spot where's you want this no i want to overlap them just so we can see the difference inside here so i want this on this side and then we'll bring it here so what i did is i took we should just put the put the avocado toast in the front yeah let's just flip okay so i went in between sizes yeah i did one more repeat i think going to the large there's about two to three more repeats of the pattern and then so it gives you a good amount of length just adding the one repeat and then i get that yeah you know you got some more length and some more depth so yeah just the one repeat really added um a lot to this it really did a lot to this shot yeah you know so if you are a great job kevin thank you i'm gonna throw this on but if you are a shawl knitter and you haven't knit the shawl i highly recommend it it's definitely on my list i've tried a few times but i wasn't in the in the space for it i don't think one of my keys to working on this shawl is so good my tip is to use stitch i'm going to mind if i wear it no is to use stitch markers i use um stitch markers to mark where i have to do my wrap and turns you can also mark as you go you can mark where you're going to do your yarn over so you don't have to keep count all the time so i find that it makes it very easy for for me i only have to um reference the pattern when i'm going on to the next section yeah you know so it makes it a little bit more enjoyable it makes it flow a little bit more at least for me um so yeah if you give it a try try that try using the stitch markers it doesn't call for it like i said before it just makes it super easy to knit and it feels so nice because it's like so squishy it is and what i like about this shawl especially this small one is that it fits very well under a jacket you know if i go back and i mean think about our slip stravaganza that thing's massive no i would you wear that as a jacket yeah you you could wear that over like yeah i mean that's just art in itself but yeah i love this under a jacket it's very easy to wear it's a great shape um i might i'll probably do this again because i do love it it's very to me it's kind of similar in the construction of pure joy which i love as well by hoagie yes so this is just just cool yeah it looks really good i'm very very pleased with it i'm happy that i she's gonna love it um yeah knit that i'll give it to her from mother's side oh nice right her birthday just passed it was just the 12 okay all right so that is my only fo okay so now you have um some whips you have way whips give me way more whips than i do let's start with this one because it's right on top and it's pretty huge this is um that's what she said this is the blanket that i was crocheting so this is crocheted um let me grab the hook i am using last time we talked about i just gotten referrals odyssey and i can't remember the wooden the wooden hook name it's downstairs but this is the odyssey hook from furls in um it says white but this is more of a like no it's like opal yeah it's like that yes kind of it doesn't have that like may hold up yes you may it doesn't have that pearly shimmer though of like an opalescent yeah it kind of does if you look closely i don't know oh maybe yeah but this is the furls odyssey hook and this is a nine millimeter um what was that shaking a little bit that was weird it's all that coffee might be this is this is number three and a half oh that's only three for me really well i i didn't know when you were gonna get back um from getting your vaccination so i started brewing a cup of coffee before i jumped in the shower um and so this is the blanket so far i oh here let's turn it this side yep so it's it's heavy yeah it's gonna be like this is a weighted blanket it's gonna end up being feeling like a weighted blanket it is a way to blanket so i was i'm sorry i'm gonna block you for a little bit maybe not can you just hold that right there yeah so i was here so i crocheted all of this and i ran out of my first skein of yarn which is kind of weird to say that like you ran i it took that much to run out of a skein of yarn this is knit with um this is an acquisition as well but this is all i have left because i ran out this is using cover story by lion brand this is the gigantic cake of yarn um it is a lot of yarn it is two and a half pounds i'm sorry 2.2 pounds you okay i'm gonna sneeze bless you how did you laugh about that because i tried to hold it in and it didn't work and you'll blow out your brains uh 547 yards it's 100 polyester it's that polyester yarn but so i ran out and i want this to be massive at least i wanted it to be massive now i'm kind of questioning myself but now but i'm i'm very into it obviously i've i've crocheted so much of it so i'm gonna keep going i how many of those did you buy well i bought three more okay so i'm gonna try to use four what what's the length and width of this currently do you know yep oh good would you mind sharing with the viewers i can't remember i think it was 18 inches wasn't it like 18 or 28 long oh right now yes oh no right now it's i don't remember i thought it was something like 18. here let me grab my i love this bag let's measure shall we i keep all my fun things together i don't i'm so disorganized with my tools i'm sorry so much for being prepared and prepared well what else what do you expect about 20 oh you know what i think it was in my pants no i thought it was 24. it says jody missed yeah 24 inches yeah so no yeah oh so anyway i kind of did the math i wanted to be pretty long i think i was shooting for something like um six feet six or seven feet long so i got three more and i was a little bit afraid that they wouldn't have any more so i just googled um cover story this is the mercury color way so i i did cover story mercury i found it super cheap it's normally like 34 ish is the normal price it was for twenty it was twenty four dollars walmart so i ordered it online at walmart three skeins of it and it came like super yeah it really did and it's the same color i was i'm very happy with that so um yeah so now i can pick this up i i definitely enjoy the process of crocheting i'm making this pattern up myself it's just half double crochets all the way you know all the way through and it's making a nice dense fabric um it's gonna be super cuddly oh we can cuddle and watch movies with this oh joy joy so um that's that i didn't have quite enough to finish these last few stitches here here's my little my little that reminds me like the way that this feels reminds me of like a dog toy with the tail like a tail of a rat is what that would feel like cool story bro i don't know that's why i thought i just immediately thought of like a dog toy or cat toy oh yeah yeah okay so that's one that's gonna be super heavy i know i'm actually very excited about it um all right so i have one whip this i just cast on the other day um after finishing the other dotted rays i needed something a little bit quicker and smaller to knit on just to um kind of cleanse the palate a quick knit so i came up here to yarn pants i can't get over this and i found this yarn so this is from amanda knits which again labels yeah old label so this i think it's one of the first things we got from amanda and this is her um finter colorway it's on her uh it's 100 superwash merino wool it's worsted it's approximately 218 yards and here's the color so beautiful like a blue gray um tonal some tones of orange and brown and beiges so here you see this how it's knitting up so i decided to just cast on a basic hat i'm using um us eights or a five millimeter what i did is i cast on i actually cast on using us six or four millimeter i cast on 88 stitches and i did a one by one cable cast on one by one ribbed cable cast on you did yeah i took the same cast on that i used from the hatch hat that i showed last week which is a brooklyn tweed seems really advanced of you and use that just because it really does i mean if you look at the the cast on edge it's just such a beautiful edge it really is it's cool the only thing i don't like about this cast on actually is the first stitch it just i don't know to me it looks weird let's see if i could show you guys so here's the first stitch and when you pull the yarn to weave in it like creates a little bit of a hole here so i don't know if i'm doing something wrong when i'm casting on maybe when you maybe you can kind of wrap it or then i thought maybe i have this inside out but i totally don't um it looks great yes so i did 88 stitches us6 4 millimeter yeah one by one one by one rib for four inches because i wanted to have a full foldable brim and then i'm just currently knitting in the round stockinette i'll go until it's i think typically it's from cass on edge to about seven inches and then you start decreasing so then i'll go cast on edge nine inches and then i'll start decreasing and i'm going to take lorian's tip i think from knitting posse and i'm going to look up the decrease from the anthology pattern from tin can it's because i do have that uh she liked the decrease for the crown of the hat so i'm going to look at that for my decrease and yeah but it's really beautiful because it it's a i so i love the way that it's spiraling me too so much and then you get here in the spiral reverses so it's a reverse i'm totally feeling those colors right now yeah it's very nice it's right up my um these are totally my tones i love this brown in this blue so yeah so hopefully i'll finish that probably today or tomorrow really really great job and that's my only like knitting i do have some yarn that i dyed that we'll talk about in a little bit but that's it for my knitting okay i only have two more things and then uh um kind of progress so i didn't make much progress on this guy but this is the and like i said it it's going to be it's probably going to be one of those things that lasts for a while because um it it like i throw a color in here and then you know it's nice to take a little bit of a break and you throw a color in here you take a little bit of a break but this is the painting honeycomb shawl um by steven west this is the small version i am using trilogy yarn this is gonna be a trilogy yarns episode i am using trilogy yarn um her halloween advent this was the hocus pocus advent and this is what i have so far i only did i think i only did like six five or six more um repeats there i really love this i really do and i'm actually excited to kind of be taking my time with this because i'm ha i have a feeling that like come september i may put this i may put this um in timeout for a little while why because it's starting to remind me of halloween and i i love halloween like i love that that time of year yeah so it might be cool to like finish this around the meantime there's a sparkle one yeah there's a sparkle one so that's the front i love the back too so the back is like is stripy um and there's some really cool colors in here i'm just randomly i'm just randomly grabbing colors from the bag this is what i have left to do it was a 13 13 scheme mini skein advent with the 14th main color oh here's a sparkle this is one of my favorite ones i don't know the name of it um but that's the sparkle i don't know if you guys can see it yeah you can see it yeah yeah it's really cool so um yeah so that's what i got so far this is what i have left still of the the hocus pocus my plan is to do about that reminds me of a vampire or that color yeah that's i don't know i'm starting to feel the um feel the fall in halloween when like when knitting this yeah let's not rush over that's what i'm saying it's getting into spring i know so a little warmth i made just for the experience because i i like i said i love halloween i love watching the scary movies and like feeling the fall rolling in so i might because i'm enjoying it i might like put it to the side and just have that full experience or maybe i won't finish it until halloween that'll be my yeah because it's going to i mean once you get oh it's ready it's going to be really long so i would still do a little bit yeah no i will but i won't i won't be like and then maybe powering through finish it on september 31st or whatever well i don't know if i don't know i can't plan that far oh see i can so that's it so far it's really nice thank you i like it too um you know once it's blocked i think it's just going to look so so cool and chaotic and just i think like blocking does so much for your projects especially for his hit you know his patterns i think any to be honest yeah you know with the exception of like maybe socks or sure a hat it depends on if there's lace or details in it sure sure but i mean blocking it just does wonders yeah for your projects if if you don't do it especially for shawls totally just do a good block it's fantastic to see um the before and after it really is um i'm using the recommended needles which is a us5 3.75 millimeter on my chalgu interchangeable and i believe it's a 32 inch cord so it's not growing like it's a triangular shawl so i feel like it's not growing like super what so when when you show the shawl i feel like your needles come very close to my face and i feel like i'm justin because justin kind of has to do that quite a bit with caleb too where he has to dodge the needle listen i look i'm just saying be respectful i am i apologize you have my respect i do most state most times that we do this i feel like i might lose an eye whatever you're fine all right so that's that okay and then this one i cast on yesterday because i um i needed some i need something to knit on during bingo oh yeah yeah yeah and so um i'm gonna kick up yarn for bingo i don't know how you're gonna be able to cast something on for bingo but this is living in my lego song bag which we got these wow a while ago remember the first time that we went to go order i kept so it was one of those instances where you try to order and the order's not going through and you're like what the hell is going on yeah but then you forget that you don't have your phone or your watch with you and you're getting a text message that says is this you is this you and we missed like the first update we had to wait to the next one to order because i didn't have all my modern technology with me that requires me to verify that i want to buy stuff yeah well this is one of my favorite bags um i don't know if they still carry something i think they still do it it's a good it's a great bag it's got a little zipper pocket in the in the back which is perfect for extra needles um you know i have my my tape measure in here um i keep the yarn band in here speaking of yarn bands this is my third and last happy hour club in the fingering um plush bass this is nancy again trilogy yarns um on her plush bass this is the chambord royale this was the second skein that came um did i say the third and final this is the second skein that came in my um as part of her club the three-month club and uh same as the the past couple of socks that i did it's an 80 10 10. um i'm doing this for my mom so this is the chambord royale which is really pretty it's got like pinks and like purple really really pretty and this is how it's knitting up i am doing rose city rollers i don't have a copy of the pattern but it's a free pattern on ravelry i've done a few of those before um and where i've kind of tweaked some things this i'm staying true to the true to pattern i've never knit socks first anybody else before so i had my mom measure her feet um we're gonna go over today so i'm just gonna just to make sure but this is what i have so far not too much um like i said i cast this on yesterday i did um i did 13 rows of ribbit or i'm sorry of the stockinette here uh and then i started the heel flap and gusset so i'm doing these on nine inch circular needles and i did 64 stitches 2.25 millimeter needles and so that's what i have very pretty color yeah it's pretty right yeah that would be a really good like valentine's day color i know it would it's really really it's got those really pretty pinks and reds in there mm-hmm i said purples well yeah there's there's okay i love the um the heel flap yeah so that's what i have so far so this is what i'm going to knit on today during um during bingo i just needed you know you just need something mindless so i can pay attention to like what's going on there and chat if there's a chat chat time available so i'm gonna move on to my next cast on i norm like this i'm so excited for um but i'm a little bit nervous because i'm really not sure how it's going to go so i am going in inspiration for this came from like just youtube i caught one of his videos so i'm going to do the modular inlay wrap by stephen west so this is a huge like rectangle almost like a yeah rectangle but with triangles at the end what is that what shape is that all right so here's what i'm going to do though guys so he showed two versions on his youtube video he shows this first version here which is i actually like a three color version or um no this is a four color but then he showed his first one which is this one and this is what i'm going to do then he showed a scrappy version oh my god i know look at how amazing that is can we like can we talk about this it's really cool i'm so so excited about this because i feel like it's going to knit up like the vertices unite where because they're sections you're going to get that instant gratification like oh i did a section so what i'm going to do is i'm going to go in our yarn bin with all of our leftover yarn and i'm going to see if i can find i believe it's 35 colors wow to knit this straw i will be using avocado toast i'm going to use all of the colors from my vertices unite all of the colors from my slipstravaganza that's cool all of the colors left over from my volcano cal from max and um i have some left over to the max run from my um my socks right i think we still have some minis too don't we we have yeah we have minis from to the max and minis from what not yeah up there that i can tap into if i need some other yarn so i don't think i watching his video only the final two sections require more than 20 grams of yarn right so it's a great way to to use it so my in my mind in my head this is how i'm envisioning it i think i'm gonna go light to dark so i'm gonna start with light colors so you're gonna kind of fade out almost so or fade in or something so i'm going to go like you start knitting with this section right here yeah and you have your triangles on either end so i'm going to go light and then go just a step darker on the next section and step darker and go that that might be what i do okay um but i like can't wait to go through the yarn then have fun grab 35 scraps of yarn weigh them out and then plan out my colors that i'm really excited for so that's what i'm going to be casting on tomorrow so i may um be a copycat and do that same pattern and try to see if i can use um amanda knits the harry potter harry potter club because there are six there's six skeins right there's six colors in that club so i'm gonna have to look at the pattern and see if maybe there's enough or i might be able to fade two of them together um i love the i don't know you need for this based on the way that i'm seeing this you need three skeins of one color two skeins of another okay and then one skein one skein so you need seven skeins of yarn for the shawl and i'll have six maybe i'll throw in a um a mini or something like that oh but you need the same color yeah i mean you can i'll take a look yeah i mean it could be i mean it's not i'm anything i'm going to cast on right now but i that's totally going on the needles tomorrow i know i'm so excited for it i think i'm starting with my hugh loco pistachio either that or this i think i might start with this yeah and then like i'm i'm starting to see all the colors that's great i might even like go crazy and stripe a couple like i with the vertices you know where i used to do whatever you want together so i'm really excited to play with that pattern great um and this is awesome before we get on to like well i have one that i'm um oh yeah that's right go ahead my cast on is not gonna be until may 1st i talked about this last time um i'm gonna join happy knits uh sweater knit along or cardigan oh is it a cardigan it's a cardigan yeah oh then how perfect i thought it was just a sweater no cardigan that's why you oh how great is this cause i'm gonna make one anyway okay good see how things just work out in my brain um this is happy knits um if you haven't already go check out yolanda and justin happiness i'm that's what i meant london and jordan thank you um i'm thinking of justin because wait till i want to show you what this is living in uh happiness h-a-p-p-e-e yeah so this is well it's gonna start in this bag i'm not sure if it's gonna stay in this it should be a positive it's gonna be yeah but i have all my yarn in here too so this was i love this this is from uh justin and caleb over at the bearded pearl we showed this when they first sent it to us um with our our our logo on it it was for our one year puddle versus podiversary um it's i mean it's humongous you thought i was gonna hit you but i'm not even close to you you can't you're looking on the camera but like look at all the room i have but the funny thing is is that you often say you can't see what's on the camera when you're holding stuff up i can't so you may not be able to see how close you're coming listen don't you awful snarky in your old age so this is gonna be my um my cardigan first time doing a cardigan only my third sweater this is the ranger from brooklyn tweed it's a it's a really beautiful textured uh cardigan who's the designer do you know brooklyn tweed isn't that the designer i don't know who is it i don't know that's why i'm asking it doesn't say it just says brooklyn tweed well sometimes there's like jared flood or michelle wong or i don't know jared flood how do you know that designer jared fletch okay so this is designed by jared flood this is a textured cardigan look i you know it's an intermediate immediate pattern i already feel overwhelmed with this i don't i can't i can't know how to do everything okay but you'll be fine with this you i he said the same thing last night and i told him that he knit the slip strands yeah but you were right there to help me you were doing the same exact thing so i knit myself a swatch this this is yarn that was gifted to us by uh nancy like i said this is gonna be a trilogy yarns um it's a very this is a very trilogy yarn in stephen west episode today so this i think i showed this when it first came there's some like the beautiful like greens and browns um black a little bit black gray tones yeah really really cool uh this is on her non superwash worsted weight base it doesn't it's a um one of a kind colorway she does she like she dyed it up she was gonna use it as a sweater she didn't really care for um how it was knitting up for her um so i love these colors so she asked if i'd be interested i said yes please and so here it is so i knit a swatch already because everybody i asked if it was okay to knit a swatch to our wonderful community and overwhelmingly people said yes you can knit the swatch before knitting the sweater and it wouldn't oh i'm like why wouldn't it because i didn't want to you know i want to cast on on may 1st i'm there now so i knit the swatch with the um the textured pattern i don't know if you guys can really see you can it's a slip stitch um why are you laughing at me i feel very judged because i'm doing things wrong no because i was just thinking how you can't see and that was my point before about getting smacked in the face with a needle or a bag maybe you should just go sit in the corner while i talk oh heavens to betray betsy i can't i'm done this is um look how cool this is huh don't use it as a mask because i saw no don't somebody did do that i saw somebody in the grocery store with a crow shaped mask no please don't do that don't do that um i got gage uh with the recommended needles us8 uh this cardigan is knit flat you do the sleeves in the round um it's knit one piece flat the the back and the front and all that fun stuff except for the sleeves and then i think you pick them up and attach them somehow that's nice that you're getting out the back and the front are knit together you're not yeah it's all it's all pleasing if you're not doing any pizza so that's that's going to be helpful yeah from what i can see it's a raglan construction um oh you're going to be fine with this then yeah yeah you're not going to have you're not going to have much if your sleeves are knitting around yeah you're knitting the back in the front together as one piece and all you have to do is seam your sleeves to the body of it it's going to be uh i think you'll yeah be fine with this i mean it says like here it like i like to it tells you like what skills that you need um so it's an it's a number it's a three out of five difficulty i mean so required techniques cast on long tail cast on increasing decreasing knitting in the round one row buttonhole short rows wrap and turn kitchener stitch um single crochet you're good about that i might have to look up the other things but so yeah i'm so excited i got gauge like exactly it it calls for 19 stitches per four inches and i even got vertical gauge which i never do no you're you're a loose knitter yeah so i who so jared flood and i we we might be like brothers from another mother that like can knit like our attention might be the same so 19 stitches over four inches and 34 over 34 rows so i got exactly awesome i'm so excited about it and i like how it looks i think it'll be a really cool really cool cardigan yeah i like the fabric that it made so couldn't be happier this will go cast on may twice all right okay um so i did some dyeing this week just messing around with some colors so this is on um the first one i did i did this like thursday or wednesday this is on a dk base i only have one skein of it because i just wanted to see what i could come up with and the idea behind this was i was thinking like black swan but crazy movie it is but then i was also thinking i don't know why of dirty um like ballet shoes or slippers and so i dyed this up which i do love i love it too i do want to make one change maybe to it is i feel like all the pink so if you do it this way there's a lot of pink down here yep and none up here so i don't know if i want to spread it out a little bit more i don't know i don't know i i do really enjoy this so this is i dyed it using some pink and some gray and some browns in here just to give it some like that mucky feeling or muddy feeling to it i i really i really really like this i really like it too and i love the the name that you wanna yeah there's um so the name if i can repeat it will be dirty ballerina there's some like brown speckles in here too that you can get and some of the pink's really bright it was actually much brighter before i added the brown the brown really toned it down quite a bit it also toned like gave a little more depth to some of the light gray areas but i think as it's knit up and that's the thing is like you don't know as it knits up you'll have like you you should have some blocks of like pink i don't know it might it might be really cool i know i i don't i don't know i i enjoy it yeah i like the way that it turned out so i'm going to try repeating it i may try to alter it just a tad bit we'll see um speaking of this if anybody has any tips for skating reskinning yarn please let me know because it is awful experience oh yeah practice i like it i think it's fun all right so and then the next one that i did oh it's time to stand up i did this yesterday um this one is a green like a tonal green with some brown in it you can see a lot of the brown here and then there's some speckles because it wasn't green enough for me it was a little light so this don't open it don't you have one that's not even that's totally you're still right yeah so here's one another one i got i did four of these what i really like is i use the seam you can really see that i mean now i used the same green dye to speckle it with and the green dye broke really beautifully um you can see i don't let's see if i can find it there's here let's do this like you can see over here there's some blue in there some dark green there's some yellow that it broke into so here it is i think it's green and brown and some muddiness it kind of reminds me of like a a grasshopper pie right is that what it is i love right we used to get the um frozen grasshoppers from yeah coffee shop how great were those yeah and here's some of the like the green speckles again with just like these nice dark blues and some teal on there so this i'm i'm like both of these like i'm happy with but i want to see if maybe i can um make them better okay i don't know um but this is and this one's dyed up on 100 superwash merino fingering so yeah so that's been my adventure i'll probably die some more this weekend yeah get a couple um well i think it's fun to start playing around with some repeatable colorways and uh i also i also got some new dies so some like pinks and purples um so you'll be able to kind of expand like what you're able to do yeah just to have fun with i just like mixing colors i look at um like an inspiration book just to like see how colors look together and you know reference the color wheel but i also um just like messing with colors that i know that i like together and that's where a lot of this i think a lot of the colors that i've dyed are really um true to kind of like colors that i like together because i love gray and pink together like gray and blue so i love gray i mentioned to do a color way oh boy here we go i know what color way what color i'm not telling you fine i have some ideas um okay no i'm just kidding i mean i do want to try it but i haven't had any ideas yet i lean more towards like the v like when you're dying you i like to vibrate um yeah yeah for sure so i think you could even i respond more to those i may not knit a lot of bright vibrant things no i would say you do no maybe i do i mean look at your um your shawl your honeycomb shawl is very bright vibrant and and one of my favorite um hats is the one that i knit out of from maine and it's um uh you know not unicorn farts uh fox farts black swords yeah yeah but that that's why my going back to my slips traffic answer why it was so um different for me because i use very bright vibrant colors in that and i'm so drawn to yours and that's right yours yeah are those shawls you would have thought the other person made them based on our color choices totally um interesting yeah so that's all we have for the knitting content all the knitting grinning oh one last thing so we'll show this again so we've written up the pattern guys it's typed out we have a tech editor who right i think it's a format editor format editor maybe i don't know who reached somebody who reached out to us who's going to help us with our pattern and get it up i believe i'm going to call this the um time spinner cal and the reason for that um is because i was watching harry potter prisoner of azkaban when i watched when i was thinking of this and knitting it and um hermione used the time spinner in that movie and the only thing i don't know so if you're a pad if you've designed patterns before maybe you could let me know about pattern etiquette do you let the yarn dyer know that you're going to be releasing a pattern with their yarn pictured because i use all yarn ink on this and then you used i used yarn ink for one and brooklyn tweeted one tweet for the other one so do you like do you have to let them know or just mention it in the pattern that's a good point i know i didn't think about that so if somebody could let me know if you've released a pattern what that proper etiquette is that would be incredibly helpful um so we're gonna take pictures of this tomorrow okay because the weather will be nicer too yeah sure um yes we're gonna send her pictures and then what i already typed out um she's going to put it together in like a format uh or something that looks nice and then we'll send it out to get tested and then um yeah that's kind of funny and we don't i don't know that we need much test we both knit it twice yeah we'll probably just do like some of our friends i don't know yeah but just an update on that and then that's the end of the knitting now we have um the sections that we call owl post and breaking the bank breaking the bank do we have any break in the bank um i do yeah you do yeah i have somehow i stood up how did that happen it's just because we're moving um yeah i have two things for breaking the bank oh i do too okay so i'll post is um things that lovely viewers or other makers send us and then breaking the bank is all our yarn purchases or any really purchase yes all right so let's start with here we'll start here so we were sent a lovely package by you guys are so incredible pam who has recently started her own um dying business which is on etsy so pam is the dire behind s i'm gonna scout scout house yarns yes so first off let's talk about the packaging the packaging is adorable it's so cute so here's the packaging they're so cute beautiful yarn towel yeah totally right and i like i didn't want to open these are so cute i know oh but there's all right so first let's look at these colors these colors are my colors for sure all right i'm gonna open one sorry crinkle party take me to the beach dk oh this is an mcn 2. oh see i want to squish everything i know and this is also how cute take me to the beach i'm going to open this too because now so this is um and this is scout house yarns on etsy we will have her shop we'll definitely have her shop linked below um i'm trying to read it all right so this one is yellowstone hot springs this is on her mcn that's really pretty this is delicious delightful so this is um 450 yards 100 grams 80 superwash merino 10 cashmere 10 nylon so this is a really beautiful oh it's gorgeous blue fading into light that i feeding into a light yellow into this really beautiful goldy color like that speaks so loudly this is me this is so my color no it's my color no this is your color well they're all kind of you could have more than you like bright vibrant colors yeah but this to me seems like vibrant this is dark and moody up here i have my moments not many of them and then um the last one whoa face is this that's on her it's dk oh this is dk yes this is 900 and that's 230 yards and this was take me to the beach and then first let's feel like i said that already you you did but that's okay it's worth repeating faux show and this is also dk this is marooned with gray oh my god that's another one that's like has some more and it's morph move little moe oh my gosh very beautiful colors and we um you did check right she has she yes so she has stuff in her shop right now so check her out please check her out um she just you know she just started i think she's got like five sales or something like that right now maybe we'll give her yeah go five buy some money oh and today is support your is lys day local yarn shop day so somebody had posted on i believe it was farmer's daughter the farmer's daughter um you know posted and i thought it was really smart is that not everybody is lucky enough to have um a brick and mortar yarn shop that they can go to you know um and some of them have closed down it's so a lot of our local yarn shops like i would consider trilogy yarns one of our local yarn shops the honest to god because like the amount of yarn that we buy from them but farmer's daughter said the same thing like um i can't find i don't remember the post on instagram but something along the lines of like you know some people consider some eshops um to be their local yarn shop so the great opportunity to support you know are you saying we should buy yarn today okay no because i want to go and for our local yarn shop is knit new haven it's where we go all the time i feel bad because today we can't go because we have a lot of things going on and they have an amazing pattern um and some new yarns that they're showcasing today so if anybody is in the area check out knit new haven in new haven anytime you're in the area check out totally i love i do i love the the feel of the store yeah um i i say all the time anytime i walk in there it's like a yeah look everybody's posting about their what a great this is in connecticut as well we haven't checked them out yet i know they're you and you fiber a little north of us right yeah they're a little north of us but how fun i would love to sit outside there i know who wants to meet us oh there's food stop showing so i'm hungry i wanted to show the shop all right um oh except i can't find it now okay so oh yeah she's got five sales check her out okay okay all right you're up next i am yeah for um from our local yarn shop trilogy yarn we're doing um sorry we're doing owl post oh this is a lot okay well this comes from a viewer julie she i i just this was a very generous package very very generous she had some extra furl crochet hooks because she knew i was i was trying out those she had some extra and i'll show you she has some extra things that she's gotten from like knitcrate um that you know if you don't use it just you sure you share it and she certainly shared it with us so julie let's start with this because i thought this was really funny there's some naughty tissue paper here let's see what you guys think of this this uh naughty tissue paper i'm not gonna really say what it is but i'm gonna show the tissue paper look away if you're offended you can't unless you're really looking so this is the tissue paper okay any you want a few more minutes with it okay um inside she included a couple of skeins of yarn this is on dk frolicking feet i i don't know i haven't heard of um of this company me neither it's done roving yarns hand painted it's made in the u.s this is on their frolicking feet dk weight base in the fantasy and fairy tales colorway it's 100 superwash merino 350 yards per 4 ounces which is probably a gram or i mean 100 grams it's pretty look at that that's a lot of yardage i feel look at the fun oh maybe it's about it's dk yeah no that's about normal i was thinking worsted for some reason yeah um yeah it's a very nice fun right yeah so um that was in that little package as well as oh here's our bag that we used to ship out but that's okay we won't talk about that now where'd it go um this is the furls alpha series i'm not sure it was a limited edition looks like collector's edition um it's fancy it is fancy i cannot wait to try this it doesn't i think it's a it doesn't say what size it is i thought it was uh yeah i think i asked for her she had a couple um i feel like it's like i'm getting my wand from i was thinking the same thing it's like you just went to ollivander i totally did and you the did we talk about the christmas ornament this year we might have i don't know i used to work for a big box company discount i don't know what you would call it anyway retail retail long long long time ago and i got an email because i worked in there like invoicing i was like their invoicing manager or whatever for a time and um got an email that we needed to pull product off the shelves and so we went to go do that and they were christmas ornaments and it's a a cute frog we'll show it i think maybe in christmas time remind us so it's a cute little frog it's a cute frog it's about this big it's like legs dangle his arms dangle he's got a fishing pole and like some like a bait box and he's got a sign he's wearing around his neck and it says support your local hookers and so of course don't tell anybody but i didn't send all of them back to the manufacturer i kept one and it hangs on our christmas tree every single year and i just thought it was so funny it says support your local hookers which of course like you know fishing hook but i just thought it was funny anyway so this is this is i can't wait to it feels very comfortable in my hand so that's that okay but wait there's more all right she sent she sent some tea she sent a really fun card oh yeah cute sorry it's just a card again um and then three i don't know if i'm gonna open these maybe i'll open them but i won't pull everything out so these are um the knitcrate she had a knit crate subscription there's some beautiful yarn in here that we have never tried before yeah so this one has drawn from knit ology all right i guess i'll pull it on this is glowing worsted and the betta colorway so this had two skeins of that this is uru is that how you say it uru beauty berry yeah it's a merino silk blend dk soft that was very these are great little project bags they are fun little bags your notions back stitching keeps us afloat i love that this one says make something today this one said same make something today this is a neat so this is like super soft what is this oh 85 moreno cashmere dk 85 merino 15 cashmere and this is a really pretty color ardene wolves yeah really cool okay so that was so how fun is that i know so thank you very much thank you so much so generous you guys honest to god are the what's that beeping there was a coffee pot going off oh you brewed a pot of coffee yes you did yeah oh you said you didn't want a brew i didn't want to but then i did because i had to wait for you to shower and get dressed so i felt like i had the time to brew i didn't have the time we have to make time sometimes all right do you have you guys love this paper okay sorry i'm done wait one more time whoa do you have any more olive oil over there or no more outcomes so i have one more okay so this comes from max and vincent um from lagarzon from there oh my gosh why can't i think his dark materials club so i'm going to start by sh talking give you guys a moment if you haven't received it to look away if you join they posted yesterday on instagram with the spoiler alert so we're gonna this is a spoiler alert at the store i literally can't bring myself to rip the sticker i know max if you have a sheet of those just can you send some our way so kevin doesn't have to worry about ripping the sticker it's just so cute it is it is super cute all right so this i know i know i know i can't draw all right so again you you have fair warning look away five four three two one you give them a lot more time than that ah it's so fun all right so this is on oh and i didn't realize that oh okay focus hello my friends pocus oh my gosh that lady is so funny hysterical i know like i freaking love her all right so we got what a poop show we are huh yuck sock what is this yuck yak sock the colorway is korum's coat yes so corm is the older guy there who also played the head of the night's watch on game of thrones that guy i don't know if i made that connection oh yeah oh and then we have this beautiful toffee gold amazing which is surrey yes so it's surry alpaca and mulberry silk 74-26 lace weight mulberry bush all around the mulberry bush and isn't that the that's the eagle right no the cat the cap oh yeah the beautiful stitch marker cover my face i mean i all right so i'm going to open this because you are don't i really then the i don't know how they have it wrapped up i know we'll never ever get it back to you i love this so this color is like green like a hunter green or dark gray it's or it's a gray green it's i mean this color here these two together are stunning i have no idea what this is going to be but it has to be something beautiful i know we have the other one now too i know and i have another color that i just bought from nancy that has i got a skein of her surrey yeah as well so i'm really excited to work with this because we've never worked with mohair and never worked with siri so i can't wait to use this i know so that is officially the end of our post now we just have break in the bank we do it but i have two things you have two things i have two things so you may start us off with your purchases uh again from our our um electronic lys nancy over at trilogy yarns did we mention we had a coupon code we have a coupon code this is the um when i i re-upped my club like i was saying um for the cocktail hour and i i went with worsted weight we don't have much worsted weight in the single skeins i kind of really was interested so this is our 100 superwash merino 218 yards we just got a delivery we did just got it what are we expecting or somebody's breaking in the house so we'll see i'm have yarn coming from nancy oh well there you go i have the um we'll see i actually have oh my gosh yeah we have this i have my discovery of witches club that she just started and then i have the um should we do it should we do a uh no no no this is the easter bunny cocktail how cute is that it's like pinks right and yeah and grays and like light sprays it's very pretty very very pretty i love it here's the drink dark cream to cocoa vodka chocolate syrup and cherry brandy what yeah we gotta become drinkers and then i got a really cute this is probably 12 points on um no that's probably like 100 100 points no maybe no if we're cheating today i'm gonna eat this that's not bad because like three reese's peanut butter cups no i know it's pretty good yeah it's okay and everything in moderation yeah right somebody's actually knocking on our door that's very bizarre do you want me to say sure i'll continue i'll be right back okay that's weird bring bring the bat or something i'm just kidding nobody ever wants to like knock on our door unless we need a signature i don't know all right oh they want to like they want to cut cut some trees down or something okay um the the next the next thing from nancy over at trilogy yarns because i had just um i couldn't just buy one thing as we can't so i been seeing this and i don't know why we didn't buy this before but this is llamas and drag which i'm sure you've seen if you watch ross um over at smells like yarn and some other podcasters who have gotten this my mother got this is one of her first purchases from a an indie dyer and this is llamas and drag i got it on her mcn base because i want to make a sock head slouch out of it oh my gosh isn't it so much fun and i love how this knits up you can see um a lot of people have knit with this um so to see how it knits up and my mom started doing a hat with i think she got it on worsted was her base um so i'm so excited for this so this is gonna be a sock head slouch hi what are you doing you brought a sock well we're just going down the poop show lane what do you got tarquin loves to bring socks to us to show what do you have there handsome i know you can't get through but it's okay hi baby boy you guys hear his pitter patter of little feets so we totally lost kevin as well so i have no idea if i can finish this on my own he'll probably be back i'm sure so that's what i got um this is my breaking the bank which i'm so excited about i don't know what i'm going to do with the the uh with these i'm going to see what the other clubs colorways um in the worsted weight what how it turns out and then maybe i'll figure i'll figure out a way to use all three of them together all right and then next i don't want to like steal kevin's thunder but i walked into having this sitting on the counter what this is the star wars knitting the galaxy book by tanis gray it is amazing there's really really fun things in here um look how cute this guy is oh my gosh you know i've never done a knitting a knitted and an amigurumi before um so there's a bunch of fun things in here really cool patterns um some behind the scenes stuff oh that's neat somebody's coming going into our backyard i don't know what type of tree they're gonna take down and what side but um that's bizarro and kevin has one more thing to show and that is from savvy skeins so i'm not quite sure i think this is like the mystery it doesn't say but i think this is part of their mystery knit club um and the last one we got was based on an owl this one is based on these cardinals i think are these cardinals i don't know what they are but it's beautiful artwork and this is the oh the northern cardinal wow i was right so it's a northern cardinal and it is on her sensible stock which is an 80 superwash merino 20 nylon it's pretty pretty good 420 yards for 100 grams oh my gosh that is beautiful i feel like she hits these out of the park this is gorgeous i'm not quite sure what kevin um is going to use this for so i don't know if i pay much attention when he speaks i'm just kidding i'm just kidding i totally do and that seems to be all of the um all of the breaking the bank and owl posts and all that fun stuff we don't edit so i'm i'm really apprehensive about pushing pause here and finding out um like where kevin is and how much longer he's gonna be but this is usually the point where we start talking about tv and books and things so awkward maybe i'll eat my milk chocolate caramel egg hey kevin are you around nope all right maybe we'll take a pause figure out how to splice the videos together and then we'll be back this is why i don't know how you individual people podcast because i have nothing else to say i mean i have a lot to say but i don't i want to say it all in front of kevin too i don't know is that weird okay bye hey look at that hopefully hopefully it worked where we can splice some things i kind of rambled at the end i'm really embarrassed i'm sorry i'm just kidding so what just happened is the neighbor came and they are cleaning up the tree line on our side in between our houses and our cars are there so they ask that we move them just so that they don't damage them and then my car wouldn't start so i tried my little booster packet didn't do anything so my neighbor got his booster pack started my car now it's running in the driveway while they cut down some trees which is really great because all the leaves fall on my car yeah our cars um there's a bunch of weeds like over there where it's hard to bring out like our lawn bags and stuff yeah and our lawnmower yeah so they're cleaning up that side of the house so that's beautiful um so ray showed you my other two purchases i did so this i'm excited for me too don't know what i'm gonna make same i was just talking about like i've never done a knit and a guru me so some of those might be kind of fun like look how cute yeah yeah and then this from savvy skeins so this was really great too with the cardinal because you know what they say about cardinals um so it came like what do they say about carnos like if you see a cardinal it's um somebody who like passed yeah so i saw that i literally got this so if my dad had passed um if the anniversary was on saturday like monday how cute right after so it was like perfect timing to get this so i love these colors she did a really good job yeah yeah um and if you don't um she has been doing some dying videos on twitch yep she's savvy skins on twitch as well so definitely give um give her a view on there because it's really cool to see people die i love watching videos like chemnitz um a girl in her wool yes me too i love her and then somebody else from canada i forget her name i've watched and fiber for the people is really fun so it's it's just fun to see people's process and um and they all do it differently so it's really cool so that is officially all of the stuff this week so what have we been reading and watching okay so what have we watched we watched a winter soldier yep last night the falcon and the winter soldier were all cut off on that series there's one episode left which will come out next friday and that will finish that off it's a great series it is i i really like the two characters together me too and and seeing their relationship yep um like you know their friendship yeah yeah their partnership kind of grow yeah because now they're at the they're like starting to like each other but not like each other yes you know afraid to say that they like each other yeah um and then we've been trying to catch up on like our normally our normal tv shows yeah which so we got caught up on last season of supergirl and we just got caught up on last season of the resident um so yeah so we're gonna start like chipping away at some of the shows we've we do we spend so much time watching podcasts and then binge watching other shows that we've put the programming that we really enjoy on the back burner so um so we still still have to get caught up on like grey's anatomy the walking dead right and something and like one other thing really i think the flash no flash we're caught up on from last year last season oh okay um we haven't watched it i'm not even thinking about this season no because it's a little bit different with covid like things got posted right unlimited episodes and things like that yeah and then um all right so what have you been i think that's all we've watched no movies well we watched um what did we just put on well we watched the craft yesterday the craft oh my gosh i haven't seen that in years so good and then we watched um the one with um uh what's her face mccarthy um oh the heat the heat so we bought such a fun it's just a fun movie yeah we bought the heat um on apple tv yeah we buy all of our movies from there now and they always have really good deals where you can get them from like four to ten dollars yeah or five to ten dollars or like bundles that they have yeah it's really really good i love i love um i love buying the movies from them yeah me too um so yeah we watch the heat it's hysterical i think they're so freaking funny together and i and i finished um teen wolf season three i'm on season four now i'm about midway through it this is a shorter season and then the next two seasons are long like 22 episode seasons so i i'm actually really enjoying re-watching it um i i really do like all the storylines i know you weren't a fan of some of the later ones no something maybe i didn't pay much attention or maybe i had lost interest after a certain period of time would i feel like there were just too many like where people or something there's just like it was just a lot yeah there were some characters don't get me wrong that are not necessary in the series but i i think all in all it's a good series and it's such a different take on the movies yes like so different i mean the character some of the character names are the same yeah but the premise of the show is way way oh yeah absolutely much darker yeah um so i think that's it and how about what have you been reading i am still reading a court of silver flames by um sarah sarah j maas m-a-a-s i was almost there i had the title correct um this one i'm uncomfortable with some of the scenes it's amazing book it's an amazing book the storyline is great i love it um but honestly like it is steamy it's very steamy and it makes me slightly uncomfortable in some of the scenes she's extremely descriptive of certain things um and it's just like i i just i get them i get it it doesn't necessarily take away from the story for me it does a little bit because it's just it's much more these scenes are much more um they happen much much more frequently in this book than the other books no yep but other than that um it's a it's a great it's a great read i might be done after this even if there are more so yeah that's what i've been reading i have finished i want to go like to the i know it's hard to win so i finished the crooked kingdom so i don't know where i was last episode i don't know if i had finished six of crows by um lee bardigo so this isn't her grisha verse so this was a duology yeah um i read the original trilogy which comes out next week on netflix i know it looks really good can't wait for that what's it called shadow and bone shadow which is the first book of the trilogy okay that's the name of the first book of the trilogy so i read the duology which is six of crows second book is crooked kingdom it was so good what's really good about the pacing of this book too is the chapters get are start off incredibly long and then at the end it's just like boom boom things get even and um i love these characters they were so different than the characters from the trilogy much darker um and they finally introduced some characters from the trilogy into this series so i think three of them what i'm interested to see is that some of the characters from this duology are in the trilogy but they happen two years apart these two series so i don't know how they're going to introduce these the characters from the two books to the the trilogy interesting because i don't even know if in that timeline yeah in based on what i can gather in that timeline these people in the two books i just finished weren't even together at the time of the trilogy so i don't know how they're going to um at least some of them i don't know how they're going to do it i can't wait to see though i don't know how many from this book these books are going to be in the the television show there's another duology now i think that wraps it all up so i think i may read that next i don't know i may take a bit of a break from this and do some light reading yeah and then jump back into it sure but yeah so that's what i've been reading i just finished last night nice so y'all that is everything that is all the chitty chattiness the break the moving of the cars everything was done we covered well we did cover a lot so thank you everyone for joining us um i don't even know how long it went because this is the second video i know i think it's i don't know it's probably our normal time like an hour 45 minutes probably you know in the norm we had a lot of things to show yeah um a lot of things to talk about we do a lot of gratitude yes tons of questions sure for sure um and thank you all for sticking around yes we appreciate it i really do appreciate it we do appreciate all the comments and the thumbs up thumbs up and the suggestions that some of you have subscribing so as i'm so excited for the weather to start being nice you had mentioned um knitting posse and um so if you all are watching when do you all want to get together and do a little like knit in the park day i know that says that was really fun yeah so i'd love to do some things locally here we don't have many we don't have many opportunities to go to any fiber festivals not coming up i know some of them are are ramping up in some of the other um states like different fiber festivals and stuff and they're doing them in per some of them in person so you guys have some things to look forward to which is really nice so uh but if we can do something locally would be kind of cool to like just do like knitting in the park or whatever yeah anyway i'm really excited about that it was great to see you all yeah it was nice getting to catch up and chat with you guys i hope everybody has an amazing two weeks enjoy the weather get some knitting or crafting in and we will catch all in a fortnight bye everyone bye guys
