NBA Players And Analysts REACT To Shannon Sharpe Leaving Undisputed

[Music] recently the sports media World got shaken up by a bombshell report that Shannon sharp had worked out a buyout with Fox Sports to leave Undisputed with Skip Bayless after the NBA Finals conclude sharp has worked opposite of Bayless for seven years but there have been a few signs of friction over the past year most notably after bayless's insensitive tweet about Demar Hamlin's collapse during Monday Night Football and then sharp getting heated over a personal shot he didn't appreciate from skip during an argument about Tom Brady with that is the backdrop late in the night in Denver after game one of the NBA Finals Charles Barkley recognized another opportunity to troll skip who was maybe the only person Chuck hates the most in the entire world after coming back from press conference coverage on NBA TV Barkley went on a tangent about how the Warner bosses were in Denver Andy read something on Bleacher Report with no one understanding where he was going until the punch line of the same if you work with a damn idiot they'll buy you out [Laughter] it's not you it's not you it's not Ernie it's Kenny but apparently if you work with a damn idiot they'll buy you out so I just want y'all to know I'm open to about the company can't afford the buyout um I didn't know it was that easy Shaq knowing immediately what Chuck was doing tried his best to stop him from saying something wild But Chuck was already rolling and Shaq himself couldn't stop laughing Charles will never miss an opportunity to troll Bayless and this one might be the proudest he's ever been of one look at the face he makes when he delivers the punch line Charles Barkley's disdain for Skip Bayless is not something new it has been going on for years as the two have Rose to fame for the broadcasting what the NBA Hall of Famer recently said about Bayless is nothing compared to the things he has said in the past a few years back he may have crossed the line when sharing his thoughts on his fellow broadcaster during an appearance on The Dan Patrick Show Barkley stated that he would kill Skip Bayless if he knew his life was ending if I get a disease and I'm gonna die how about I bring you give Skip Bayless in here and I'll kill him live on National Television despite how Barkley feels about Bayless the FS1 star has never gotten into a back and forth with him instead he's asked the former Phoenix Sons big man to pull back what he says as his wife has grown concerned it seems everyone in the sports media world is talking about Sharps impending departure from Fox Sports and Undisputed the ramifications for the network and Sharp's co-hosts get Bayless have been popular topics one Friday Dan Le batard weighed in lebatard said he believes at this point in his career Bayless needs sharp more than sharp needs Bayless that given his skip style sharp has been a great debate partner on Undisputed for the past six plus years it would be extremely difficult to replace what he brings to the table here's what lebatard had to say I could make the argument and would make the argument skip needs Shannon right now more than Shannon needs skip because it's gonna be hard to replace Shannon sharp on that show honestly I kind of agree with Dan it's hard to argue with Le batard's Point sharp has been great with Bayless and has turned himself into a hot commodity in sports media there's no obvious replacement and Bayless is notoriously difficult to work with and will have final say over his next co-host Sharps reported departure sent shockwaves through the sports media industry and it particularly bewildered some of his colleagues at Fox Sports including Chris brassard and Rob Parker I'm stunned by this news of Shannon sharp leaving Undisputed I think it's a big loss for uh FS1 um I I thought they had you know at least gotten to a point where they skipping Shannon could co-exist you know they were still doing the show great and um but apparently they are not going to go on as Parker alluded to Sharp and Bayless had dove into several arguments that veered into personal territory one instance that particularly stood out to Parker was when sharp went full soprano on Bayless as they traded barbs over Tom Brady while that happened nearly six months ago the tension had been building to a head since then I I remember the moment because I saw it yeah and the moment the moment that skip said to Shannon that he was jealous of Tom Brady he was criticizing Tom Brady's play and Skip basically said that uh like the criticism wasn't valid and the only reason you're criticism Tom Brady because you're jealous of him I I at that moment Chris I I said those two just got separated like I did like at that moment you remember you know what I'm talking about am I right that was a moment yeah I I totally and during that show if you remember Shannon took off his glasses yep and Skip said don't take your glasses or put your glasses put your glasses back on that's what he said I'll tell you one thing the the one thing Chris and and you know we've had our fights on the radio or whatever right but you got to be real careful or we're Crossing Lines um because you don't want to hurt your partner to the point where you ride the show Parker and Broussard are the only two sports personalities to have worked with Bayless on all three debate shows he's been on dating back to cold pizza in first take they are fond of both Bayless and sharp but are unclear where either personality goes from here sports fans have been waiting for Stephen A Smith to open up about Shannon Sharp's stunning move to leave FS1 and Skip Bayless the ESPN analyst finally shared his thoughts via his podcast but us is silly regardless of what opinions I'm about to give that y'all don't make the mistake of assuming that I'm going to speak against my man Skip Bayless that is not going to happen Skip Bayless and I have disagreed on many things on the air and off the air where natural born contrarians with one another we don't think alike we don't act alike we don't like the same things we don't Vibe with each other in terms of our ideas and our belief system but remember when I told you that I was the star the number one sports Morning Show for the last 11 and a half years the first four years of that was with Skip Bayless I'm never in that position if it were not for Skip Bayless Skip Bayless asked me to come on first take Skip Bayless permitted me to come on first take Skip Bayless fought for me to come on first take Skip Bayless played the role in restoring my career that I felt have wrongly been taken from me I will never disrespect him it will not happen never First Take started in 2007 but it wasn't until 2011 that skip bayless's role significantly increased with Bayless at the helm the show began to grab the attention of avid and Casual sports fans Stephen A Smith who was a regular guest at the time was given a permanent role in 2012. last year Stephen A Smith had this to say on The Old Man and the three podcasts when asked to recall bayless's offer to him they weren't about to give him my own show or anything like that at the time I said I thought about it for a couple of days I said all right I'll do it one month later we were number one and we've been number one ever since the ESPN host had made it incredibly clear that he will not throw his former colleague under the bus it isn't hard to believe how Bayless has self-proclaimed himself as the king of the sports media industry despite sharp sighting the creative differences with his co-host in the past skip has blatantly thrown personal tirades at him ever since they paired up in 2016. this is just why it is effortless to read the message between the lines here to further prove the status quo sharp even liked a tweet that justified his relationship deteriorating with Bayless over time due to jealousy their relationship got progressively worse over the last two maybe three years because skip fought for him to be on that show but I feel like skip couldn't stand Shannon succeeding without and that's when skip was taking pot shots on air claim the Tweet by Dylan Patrick furthermore Personnel close to the 54 year old suggested how sharp never wanted to become the uncontested protagonist but wanted equal participation in selecting the topics sharp had always been publicly supportive of Bayless and repeatedly thanked him for giving him the opportunity to join the sports media scene even after this heated altercation and even though neither party has made comments about this breakup this doesn't necessarily mean there's any sort of beef between the two albeit the tension was evident notably Sharp's Club shayshay podcast will also leave FS1 and his
