the physical screening test known as the PST for short is required for every potential seal Canada Navy SEALs must be in top shape and the PST is how we'll measure whether you'll be ready for more advanced physical fitness training you'll get here at Naval Special Warfare Center home of Navy SEAL training the PST is the first step in our incremental approach to physical training it involves a 500-yard swim followed by push-ups curl ups pull ups and a 1 and a half mile run before you begin training to take the PT with your local navy recruiting office make sure you see your doctor and get medically cleared you don't want to pass out or suffer an injury because you weren't medically ready also pay attention to the right way to fuel your body give up those energy drinks and fad diets eat the proper amount of proteins carbs and fats to maximize your health and performance you can check out our website CO Swisscom for tips on diet and physical training the PFC standard is the same for everyone the minimum standard for consideration of a seal contract is swimming 500 yards in 12 and a half minutes 50 pushups in 2 minutes 50 curl ups in 2 minutes 10 pull-ups in 2 minutes and finally a 1 and a half mile run in 10 minutes 30 seconds but the minimum is just the beginning there's only a limited number of sealed contracts to be earned and there's plenty of competition from others just like you candidates with strong PST scores are in the best position to get a seal contract that means you should be working hard to get PSD scores in the optimum range shoot for an 850 swim 100 pushups 100 curl ups 20 pull-ups and an 850 run if you can get close to these scores you'll be in good shape for consideration of a seal contract these are goals to strive for to make you competitive not requirements keep in mind you should be training for the PST not for basic underwater demolition SEAL training however experience shows that a strong PST score is directly related to success at Budds so take it one step at a time that one step at a time approach is how we train here at Budds so get yourself in the right mindset now take your time and train with good form and in a safe and smart manner it won't do you any good to rush things if you end up injuring yourself when you are in the water make sure there is a qualified lifeguard nearby do not practice under water swims breath-holding or other risky events if you get a sealed contract we'll train you in a supervised environment with effective safety measures and condition you before you are tested make sure you stay hydrated and stretch out before you practice a PST on your own or before any type of training Navy SEALs practice safety and all training and operations and you should too why do we have a PST because you must be in top shape to execute some of the world's most dangerous missions in unforgiving environments against hostile forces you're going to be put to the test both physically and mentally there are real-world situations where your strength and ability to swim and run well will be challenged you may have to swim a great distance from a submersible to the shore or run with heavy gear in a combat environment or even climb a wall with a full combat load of up to 100 pounds strength and endurance are critical to achieving the mission remember train hard for the PST but train smart good luck you [Music]
