I think dignity is an underlying topic here. Allow those you communicate with to maintain their dignity start to finish. If someone feels dignified, they will not only be more likely to reopen communication with you, but in my experience, they are far more likely to be actively drawn to you and willing to exert effort to make something happen with you.
Respect is easy. Respect can be shown purely by formalities, cultural tradition and courtesy. Dignifying someone reaches deeper into their heart and mind. Because while it's possible to be false in showing respect, or, the act of dignifying someone. It is much more challenging to do the latter and whether people outright know this or not, they live and experience the truthfulness of it.
