okay this is going to be the second part inside of the construction animations presentation so parts who is going to look at object animations inside Navisworks so part one we colored people animation so be able to remove and point it boy be and report it and then save it out as a movie this one is going to looking at how you can bring in other types of file formats and then merge them and Navisworks and then animating those components we see on the screen here is a crane we can actually animate the boo we can look at the the radio source conference of that boom and then look at how it's going to be able to pick up materials from certain components on site and then load them to other parts of the building has been constructed so to bring this data and we go to the pin button and we can merge in the data here so it's ctrl M to merge we can start to break down the model if it hasn't been broken down correctly so in this case this FBX file format here was set up with a crane Basin of grain boom we will do some of those inside Navisworks where we can create selection sets if the crane isn't quite configured and we can also manipulate how that crane is set up you can do this a couple ways in this case under showing on the screen here how you can the location of the rotate tool to actually put that crane when we're animating it though we're going to do all in the animator this is just showing that sometimes when you bring in the data and you break it up in certain components when you look at manipulating those objects not even in something perfect so sometimes you need to maybe position certain components you need to just double checking each item tools tab here that the position on that rotation tool is in the right location so you can you can manually move this you have to be too accurate although you can we go back one slide you can actually type and exact location if you know that those XYZ coordinates but when we come to as you do the animation which I'm going to show in a second as a live demo we're going to use the animator tool to correct all these locations so with without further ado we're going to animate of a crane inside of Navisworks so this is my Navisworks model shown in previous videos and what I'm going to do is position a crane say in the location of the core here and then look at animating it to see whether the boom will reach the pickup and drop off parts for the materials so here go to a pin I'm going to merge in my crane so this one is one that I've got set up as an interview D a quick note here Navisworks will read numerous file formats I think 56 to last count so even if you don't have an nwd you may have files of SolidWorks or pro/engineer or FBX all of these different data file formats will come in and they can be read and then also geared and set up inside an ALICE work so you need to do a few a particular function here so I'm going to bring in that crane demo and you can see here it's coming at a center location if I go and select my item tools here I can move it and I've got my XYZ gizmos I could also manually move it here so you can see if I want to turn that item I can type the Z direction and it will start start to move back so the simple ways you can move it I'm just going to do the manual move here and it's just highlighting on the XYZ chrismyers it's coming at the right location for my Z value and you can see here it started to change in the transport source so a quick way to manipulate the location or rotate it you can also scale it if you need to menu component so that's our crane looking correct in the right location and what I want to do now is do a couple things when I go select that crane at the parent level it's going to stick the whole thing but if you look at all the components here there's a lot of motion and go and select all these components and they're broken down and do parents and children's of the the objects I don't have to go on Grabel information so I just want to bite size want the boom and the tower part of the crane here so what you have is a selection sets in I click on selection sets I can go and create a crane and boom components created tower components for Navisworks gear so you can see I've got a few here for other components of the model and the ones from the crane boom and the tower have come through what I'm going to do just to manage this a little bitter is I'm just going to say crane crane parts and then I'm just going to grab just put them in the folder here so just a little bit of management and I'm just close up the top hierarchy of that folder and I think we just grab that you gotta let me knock them up and there's little screen real-estate there okay so now we've got the two components and you can see when I'm sleeping my model is grabbing those parts so this just helps when it comes to managing a lot of data so that's a good tool to to have there just to take care of all the information coming into your mob so the next thing I'm going to do is start through the animation component and just for simplicity here I'm going to hide hydranoid so I can go here hide it hide the select components and we're just looking at the crane so this just helps you to see what's going on so we go to the animator tool and I'm going to close a few things here just you can see the Beatles going on and what we should already have is an animation from previous workflows this one's a superseding L so I'm going to start subscribe so I'm just going to delete delete that scene and we're going to create an animation for the crane boom moving in a 180 degree rotation so crane boom here selected I'm going to start here by going and adding a scene and scene you could rename it so I will rename it I just stopped looking with those items selected we're going to add the iteration step and current selection for crane crane wrote a spoke correctly and we are going to with that rotate animation set we're not going to touch the rotation tool because that messes things up we're going to just slide that back by just grabbing the arrows yep I'm just women 60 a little bit up we're going to move this to the central crane where we took it over so you see here this is about correct you're done to be that accurate you see you know it's sort of enough for me to do and now we're going to start doing the the timeline here so I'm just going to move that to the center just so you can see what's going to happen so here with the rotation tools this is your X Y Z rotation tools here and you can see there's a Z value here so we're going to rotate it 180 degrees so we've got our first point that we're going to capture the keyframes is that starting point so I'm going to capture Kuk keyframe and it's going to add a diamond and now I want to go for about 10 seconds and I want to rotate after 10 seconds so I'm going to ask it to rotate 180 degrees you can see it's rotated and I'm going to capture that keyframe and if I just go back a little bit and it play we now have a crane animation rotate so when we go back to our viewpoint we go to perspective and what is going through here we'll find the view ok we can now see when we come to play that animation the crane is rotating the center here we haven't had to be too accurate it's pretty good and you can see all the points that are associated with that selection set are rotating with it now it's going too fast we can of course adjust it so you could just create this point and drag it out a little bit see there it's at 18 if you want to be really accurate we could just go to select and from 20 and now let's go on to that point sort of that one that's good at that point you can just right click and go get it and you can put on 20 seconds so there's always L tools here as well put is tracking this basically at the moment but you can start to really play around with some of these animation sticks so we have 20 seconds of crane animation we wanted to rotate from point A to point B 180 degrees and we can also start to loop it and turn on the PP tool for ping-pong back and forward and you can see here now when we go to to drag this along the timeline it will go from here it's going to go to one point at the end here since 20 seconds in it's going to have to pick up equipment and then it's going to lift it back into the drop location so the principle is pretty similar if you want to add more components to it so maybe you want to the cables dropping down you can select these independently and then start adding it to the scene I've seen people do it a little more advanced but it is possible inside Navisworks there's other tools for movement and scale even the changing of color and this one is transparency so all of these tools can be used to help animate the objects inside of Navisworks for whatever particular construction animation you need to to the cattle simulate so with that I'll just go back to my home tab here and hide all and I now have my cranes I'll zoom out and when we come to to play that scene you can see crane is able to lift equipment maybe it's not far enough to get equipment over Skype or you may need maybe two small cranes but it gives you the idea of how far will rotate to pick up equipment work and pick up and then where it can drop off and here it is been pointing back and that is the end of crane animations inside of Navisworks hope this has been helpful
