Last summer I took my teenage son to see "42", the movie about Jackie Robinson. An awesome movie about the racial discrimination and one man who changed history. After the movie was out, my son kept asking me why everyone hated Jackie and the other black ballplayers. We spent the next couple of hours talking about racism, oppression, and the civil rights movement. The thought that a person would be judged simply on the color of their skin was completely foreign to him.
I realized how differently my children's generation is being raised. With each successive generation, we get better as a people. Things that were taboo like interracial relationships and homosexuality were rejected when I was growing up. Now it's no big deal.
Maybe there is hope for us after all.
Damn, Tyler got Game.
