My New Custom Defender Reveal and Collection

hi i'm daniel and this is asheville and today i'm collecting my new car [Applause] when someone covers their car you know that it's a good card the first do you hear that the first no i can't be i've never had a reveal like this before normally i read between the lines a little bit of column a little bit column b serious yeah you've got your orange warning lights as well hey look at me do i actually have a spare wheel in there is that just for show oh yes result i must admit my land rover discovery i've had it for three years now there are sixty thousand miles on the clock and i have absolutely batted it now this car has served me well but i feel like it's time for a new one so when i was thinking about a new car i was considering all the options i was thinking about going back to an amarok which i had before this i was thinking about the mercedes pickup i was thinking about a g-wagon i was thinking about a range rover vogue i went through all the options possible and in the end i came to a land rover defender when i decided on a defender i had to think to myself which defender now first of all i need a commercial vehicle so it was a commercial defender then i had to decide between a 90 and a 110 wheelbase now when i'm in the 110 wheelbase at the lights the pillar is right in my face so i don't have enough vision so then i went for the 90. and when i decided i needed a commercial 90 land rover defender where else did i go but urban automotive [Music] hello could i please see simon how are we doing ty i want to thank simon um because i have driven simon man i've driven simon madd for a very long time and simon has been very helpful and i'd like to point this out there are a couple of questions that i asked lenny and lenny said no and i said lenny i want to do this lenny i want to do that and lenny said no but simon said yes stupidly simon said yes i believe simon has done the ultimate defender for asheville and no car video is complete and i want to thank simon as well because i have gifted simon my old land rover discovery now i know why you wear these yellow trainers is to take the focus of this for the first time ever someone has bought a defender off simon and they're going to use it for what it was meant for it's going to be off-road it's going to be pulling things it's going to be in the mud it's going to be going up gradients pulling diggers piles of material but this one wasn't supposed to do that the defender's built for that but this is a family car you've got your fishing gear in here as well no but i do have um i got boots i got trainers i got free gym bags i've got hivs in every color i've got trousers i've got bibs hard hats gloves this is not supposed to be the experience should we go inside and have a look at your car yeah yeah yeah hold on all right this is mine this is mine yeah i've never had a reveal like this before all right this is a this is this is a big thing for me sorry you're excited i did actually say to you like you you've enjoyed this process haven't you i have i don't know what you've enjoyed most buying the car or hounding me a little bit of column a little bit of column b when someone covers their car you know that it's a good car you know people cover their car in their drive okay normally i read between the lines but here i'm feeling my way through and this does feel like it says asheville you wouldn't believe right the trouble we've had with these layers what do you mean because an eye doesn't have the same spacing as everything else we've had to put them on three times have you really yeah i'll be honest my car i took care of my car for the first two years and then i didn't get a chance to wash it for a while and it just got so dirty and i remember i remember the day when i decided that it was no longer possible to look after the car i looked down and my foot had worn through the foot mat and gone to the carpet and that's when i said right ah so is that something else you haven't told me about the car then you mats simon i i showed it to you and you didn't spot it like you know technically it's been there the entire time i've got like 17 hats and three pairs of trainers i know they're moving all over we need to move everything over into this car that to make it a full working vehicle that's what we need to do that's it show me i'm driving away you pulling it yep [Music] look how aggressive she is [Music] hey did you put this on for me or was that one already right so you've got a couple of extra things i've got extra things what wait hold on that no one else has that no one else well they might have them but oh you've got extra things that i decided to put on for you i'm trying to take all of this in yellow calipers serious right love that we have the yellow tow hooks we have the clear lights the smoke clear lights oh look at that now that that is what i am talking about oh my goodness so because she was on site and i saw the way that your other car took a beating yeah that's why i put the protection on the wing mirrors yes the protection on the rear light so you don't stuff it you put protection on the rear and also protection on the gloss black back protection here in case i put the foot on and or i tried to get something heavy in the back yeah we've got all the lighting up the front here sorry yeah you've got high power lighting on the top you've got your first vented bonnet that we've done the first vented bonnet do you hear that the first vented bonnet came this way yet lenny told me it wasn't possible simon said it was and we say asheville at the front of course yeah we have the urban detail in here everything's color-coded and we have my flashing beacons yeah you've got your orange warning lights as well absolutely perfect so so you've got a couple of things in the back extra you've got a hard hat hook yeah i've got a hard hat you've also got you've got hooks at the back yeah but you've also got extra fold down billet hooks here you've got your highlights okay for all the high vis as well and you've got storage under there oh wow so tell me something do i actually have a spare wheel in there is that just for show no we have a spare wheel yes genius i'm not sure what i'd have put in there for sure for the record this is a spare wheel and you can use it in the event of a puncture for me i need space because i really struggle to fit into cars and i need comfort and i need the off-road capabilities i'm one of the one people that need the capabilities off-road i feel now that the aesthetics of it actually match the capabilities of the car which is exactly what i wanted i'm i'm loving it good the inside of this is different this has insides which you can wipe down my car has carpet and stuff like this all the panels can and now that i have a free people will say oh yeah let's go in daniel's car he can fit five people no i can fit three people in my car now so i am not the designated driver wherever we go anymore look at that perfect look at all the space i've got simon i've got apple carplay on here yes and i don't have to look out of the back window at the lights hey look at me look at me i'm driving look at me i'm driving tomorrow i had three seats now i have two and a giant cup holder look at that oh look at that what do you think of that this is so when i had to drive one recently and something that freaked me out was the rear view mirror it's clear view yeah so it's a video i didn't actually notice that yeah it's a video really video it's very hard to get used to it as well do you know i'll be all right because it's the same on the lorries if you can't see you have to trust the cameras yeah it's exactly the same right so you've got one switch down just below the steering column which is the top lights and then you've got your amber warning lights just there hey and you've got a button next to it to do various different scenes so as if we want to go for the discotheque so having a look at this i'm not a man who ever looks at something when it's done and think it took five minutes can you share with us the journey you went through trying to create this i reckon there's probably a good couple of hundred hours work in this wow um to bring it up to this standard obviously the car comes in with pretty much nothing on it it's been completely stripped down even things like the amber lights you know they're just amber lights but we have to run all of the cables through underneath in the undercarriage of the car up into the bay the carbon fiber bonnet the finishing so you've got that gloss black like the rest of the car yeah there's a lot of work going into it if you want to see even more on how this car was built even more in depth to they are my old work course versus my new workhorse had many happy years and happy times with this but i think it is time to let go and say goodbye and i'm really happy and grateful that my new car and let's hope that it all fits oh yes result i found an umbrella at last i've managed to move over all my bits from the old car to the new one i actually know now that this car is a lot smaller but as i said i think that's a good thing i've actually managed to get rid of a few bits because actually going through the car there's so many things in there that i had what i don't actually use i've been hoarding so i put those in a black bin liner and i'm gonna get away of those i'm gonna get this on the motorway get back down there and i'm actually going to go to the yard to introduce this to
