hmm since moving to north america i've become quite fancy and i now drink drinks like lacroix uh it's pronounced what's it called you pronounce it how it's pronounced but no one really cares about what i'm drinking or how to pronounce it so here are my top five mixing plugins that are free for 2021. hey what's up guys it's fabio here from noise i'm fabio this is my channel noise welcome to the channel if you're new welcome back if you've been here before i hope you're all well and today i'm going to be taking a look at my top favorite five free mixing plugins for 2021 but before we jump in i've got a couple of things to say it's always worth checking in the link in the description below to see what the latest giveaway or competition is i've always got one on and i'm always giving away stuff so go down there click on it see what you could get your hands on and secondly if you have been here before and you enjoy these videos which come out weekly now please consider heading over to the website where i've got mixing mastering sample packs logic racks ableton racks and so much more so if you want to show some love and support the channel that's the best way to do it all right let's jump right in so the first plugin that actually came out last year but that i used all the time almost more than the ones i paid for is the valhalla super massive it's a delay and reverb combination it just sounds freaking awesome so here it is on this vocal with the default setting [Music] you can hear it's a super cool mangled delay which can also sound like a reaver but i'll get to that in a second i just want to say a big thank you to sandra from sixth floor memories for letting me use this track and his vocal for these examples i just finished mixing and mastering this album and we cannot wait to show it to you so follow me on instagram or go check out my spotify playlist to see when that's getting uploaded so it's a delay it's a reverb let me show you the reverb side of things which is what i really use it for and i'm obsessed with small reverbs so this is one of my favorite settings reverb 2000 and it's a great short room and i'll come to terms with you i just found out how everything resolves it's great for pushing things back you can't put it directly on the channel or you can put it on a send if you'd like i just think it sounds really really awesome easy to use and really high quality another way i like to use it is to do big washouts towards the end of words to create this huge atmospheres let me show what i mean still i figured it out [Music] and i'll come to terms with you [Music] i just found out [Music] like why does reverb have to be so static automating it like that you create so much push and pull so something you should try out and this is a great plugin to do it with okay next up we have la la by analog obsessions now this plug-in right here i just discovered when i was searching online for a free la2a emulation the la2a is essentially a very very simple compressor to use it's an optical compressor which just has two dials this one has a few extras and this designer here analog obsessions got a lot of stuff but this is the one that i like the most so what is it for it's just for smoothing things out you probably use it towards the end of a chain rather than at the beginning but let's not set any rules let's take a listen still i figured it out and i'll come to terms with you i just found out so you can push it quite hard it sounds quite natural i really really like this i use it a lot on synthesizers when they're getting too loud like when the filter is opening and i just need something gentle to clamp down on it as it increases in volume lots of other great plug-ins by analog obsession but this is the one that i lean towards the most also i think this is one of the only free la-2a emulations out there so this plug-in comes in quite nicely after the la-28 what you might have noticed is that the lala compressor actually made things a little bit muddy and slate just released this bad boy right here fresh air this is awesome and i feel it's just that vocal sound that everyone's leaning towards now you don't just have to use it on vocals in fact you don't have to use any of these plugins on vocals this is just the signal that i wanted to put through them let's check it out so we've got an on and off button mid air and high air it's as easy as that and you just dial it in and get a feel for what you want still i figured it out and i'll come to terms with you i just found out how everything resolves it really lightens everything up but without adding harshness it's got quite a contemporary sound i think this is really really popular and they've done a great job at creating this plugin so i'm going to be using this more and more i love something easy i love something simple i'm not the most technical person all the time if it works and if i can do it in two parameter changes i'm in now you may have seen this in a few of my other videos but this is the mv meter 2 by tb pro audio again completely free why would i want another meter aside to the one i have in logic now the reason i like this one right here is that the peak level the metering resets very quickly and so it's easy to see things on the logic one you have to click ableton doesn't really have a good meter there are some good third-party ones that you have to pay for but like i said this one is completely free so what i do to set it up is i always go factory and then i make sure peak standard is on and you can also change the skin as well the retro one is pretty cool i like this one so we can use it to quickly meter and you'll see it gives the max and the current but it likes to reset too still i figured it out and i'll come to terms with you for me that just makes it easier and more accurate to get a good reading when i need one especially when i'm dealing with transients and clipping okay last but not least the tdr nova i mean this is the most underrated mixing plugin out there and i know there are a lot of videos on it but i just feel like it's not spoken about enough it's entirely free again all the plugins in this list are free and it's an eq but not just any eq it's a dynamic eq now what is a dynamic eq fabio a dynamic eq is a little bit like a multi-band compressor you can essentially compress different eq points to expand or reduce so you can control levels just on those certain frequency points let me show you now something you want to start by doing when you have this plug-in is hit in so you can see the signal coming in i'm not a big fan of looking at analyzers but i think it can be a little bit more helpful when it comes to dynamic eq still i figured it out so let's say that we want to take out this area here but we don't want it to be static right we want it to take out that frequency only when he crosses a certain threshold so what i'm going to do is i'm going to click on threshold and then i'm just going to bring this down like that and let's just increase the cue let's make it a bit more narrow and specific to that point still i figured it out and i'll come to terms with you and without it still i figured it out and i'll come to terms with you so this is incredibly useful for when you just need to control a certain area because it's bumping up a little bit too much and you have found that doing a regular eq is just way too much of a cut and impacts the performance of that signal it's got great little tools like being able to solo that [Music] still band figured it out and i'll come to terms with you i just found out how everything resolves so there you have it people my top favorite five free mixing plugins that i use all the time it's not about having to pay for stuff when there is so much good quality software available to you i'm sure at some point i'm also going to be putting out a video on my top five vst instruments soft synths things like that some more production focus so look out for that and the way you can do that is by hitting that like and subscribe button if you want to show some support for the channel please do so head over to my website if you need mixing mastering logic racks sample packs whatever it is i've got something for you all right everybody i hope you found that useful and i'll see you very soon it's a big love from noise peace
