it's in a bag hey everyone and welcome to my channel i'm nikki and today's video is actually a pretty highly requested video because i am constantly posting the bowls that i make on instagram so i've had a lot of people ask like how do you make the bowls how do you come up with them like what are the different types of bowls you make so i'm gonna kind of show you three of my favorite types of bowls that i make that are just the most filling meal they are low and smart points none of them are ever usually more than 10 smart points which is not bad for a full meal when you see how much i put in these bowls and yeah they have become like my favorite meal so go ahead and like this video and subscribe to my channel if you find it helpful and let's go ahead and get started with some bowls so the first type of bowl that i probably make the most is like a mexican style so every bowl starts the same i have my nice bowl and i like to make these nice and pretty they just it makes it more enjoyable for me and i like to take a nice picture and then mixing it all together it's just so good so i don't know i always like to lay the rice out and then portion each ingredient out around i don't just like pile it on now it looks good and the food looks good i feel like it just tastes better and maybe it's on my head but anyway i always always always have containers of rice in my fridge so just like this and i just make it in my rice cooker i make like a bulk batch of like three cups uncooked and then it cooks into like a bunch of rice i have like four or five containers every time i make this that is always helpful to have on hand this is always the base to my bowls and i prefer to use jasmine rice because honestly i just like the flavor of it the best and the nutritional value between like regular white rice and jasmine rice is pretty similar i think it's a little higher calorie but point wise it's the same so i like to use it and i'm not a big fan of like brown rice so that's just what works for me but you can use anything you can use cauliflower rice if you really want but i find that having a little bit of extra carb from the real rice really helps keep me full so i like to use jasmine rice you can use whatever type of rice you want anything you really want to use is the base that's a nice filling base so i always weigh that out i put my bowl on the scale i tear it out and then i weigh however many grams of rice i want to have that day so it's usually anywhere between a four and a six smartpoint serving that i like to use for rice and another thing is at trader joe's they sell frozen jasmine rice and it's in a bag that has two cups and that's just perfect when i'm making bowls for me and item i just cook it split it evenly by weighing it i still weigh it out so that it's even and then that's just such a convenient way so if i don't have any made in the fridge i have it made in the freezer so i always always have rice on hand because i'm always eating these bowls so then on top of jasmine rice the next thing that i put in pretty much every bowl and then i always have prepared and i actually just made some right now because i was out so just to show you guys all i do is i saute some peppers and onions so right here i have a yellow orange and red bell pepper with a yellow onion all i do is i dice the veggies up i spray the pan with a little bit of olive oil pam and i cook them for like 15 minutes and then i toss them in a container and they're ready for me to use all week then i always like to put a protein in the bowl so for the mexican bowls specifically my favorite is chicken i specifically like the black pepper chicken strips from tyson for my mexican bowls as well as and this one's a little bit spicier and hard to find but some blackened chicken or just the tyson natural grilled nuggets are really good and i use those in other bowls as well but these are the two that i really like to use when i'm making like a mexican bowl with like a little bit more of the like spicy flavor okay so then the next thing that i put in the mexican bowl specifically after the rice the chicken and the sauteed peppers and onions those are like staple i always put those three things in i always put a type of cheese so i really like the trader joe's light mexican blend because it's two smart points for the serving which is 28 grams and so i like to put some of that or sometimes i do like to use this is also from trader joe's it's their organic cashew dip but there's also one in sam's club i like so any like cashew quesos are really really good especially when you mix them in a bowl it's just like the texture and the flavor that you want and you can't even tell that it's not actually like queso it's made of cashews instead of regular cheese but my all-time favorite to put in the mexican bowls and i've heard some people don't really like this but a lot of people do i do because you can have five tablespoons for a smart point and honestly i just i really like the flavor of it and i think what maybe it gives it kind of like a weird flavor is that it has apple cider vinegar and it also has kind of like a cilantro flavor so i think that's what turned people off of it but i love this stuff this stuff is so good for my bowls and i even love to just top it on like my wraps that i make so i like to use this the most in my mexican bowls but then the rest just kind of like switches up every time so i really like to change it up with the ingredients i'm using so that it it really does taste different each time i can do like 20 different variations of a mexican bowl every single one will taste different and they're all so good so another ingredient i like to put is some hummus and i like the lantana black bean hummus it's only one smart point for two tablespoons and again this is just really good mixed in with rice i really like hummus in it so i like this sometimes what i'll do is i'll have leftovers from when we make like chipotle bowls and what i do is i mix together some diced and fire roasted tomatoes with some like kidney beans or some black beans or pinto beans and i just kind of make a mix of that and then that i can put into the bowls so just like a mix of tomato and bean that makes it really filling i like to add beans to them because it makes them more filling and going along that i get this from aldi and this is their black bean salad which i want to say is a smart point for the serving that i like to use but this stuff is good and it's got like a sweet kind of sauce on it it just adds flavor to the bowl and yeah it's just really good so that's one i like then i like to add salsas so my two favorite right now are probably the cowboy caviar from trader joe's and that just has like black beans and corn in it so that's why i like it and then i also got this one from sam's club and it's just like a fresh cilantro salsa so i like like these kind of fresh chopped tomato type salsas those are really good and this is zero smart points so i like to add that and then sometimes i'll just add some roasted corn um if i feel like opening a can i'll just use some of it and keep it in the fridge and use it for another bowl a different day and then i like my taco bell mild sauce is really good sometimes sometimes if i'm feeling some jalapenos i'll throw those on there and then one other thing that i like in the mexican bowls i like to add some light sour cream and this i usually use one smart point worth which is two tablespoons and again it just makes it really creamy when you mix it all together the best part of these bowls is just when you mix them all together and how good everything tastes together and when it's like creamy with the rice i just i could have these every day and i pretty much do so those are like my main ingredients for the mexican bowls that i make now let's move on to the like poke type fish bowls that i like to make so with the like poke style bowls that i like to make again i start with a base of rice then i usually like to find a good meat so there's a few different meats i like to use and actually i'll do multiple in a bowl when i do like the fish ones because you can't have enough seafood and a lot of times i'm trying to kind of recreate like a sushi roll in a bowl so one thing that i found was actually really good is i just took a normal can of chunk light tuna and i mixed it with some sriracha and sesame oil and i just made like a spicy tuna out of it and it was so good so that's all i do is i open the can and mix in some different sauces or kind of play around with the flavors make my own spicy tuna my favorite fish to put in these is definitely some crab i just like to get these imitation crab packets and these are like the smaller ones so usually adam and i will just like split it and then another thing that i like is trader joe's has some good like fish burgers and actually aldi i got really good salmon burgers from but we like the mahi mahi burgers and these are really good to just cook up and chop up into a bowl and it's a good way to get some fish in there so i like to use the mahi mahi or the salmon burgers in these bowls and they're super flavorful so for veggies for the pokeballs my favorites are always and i'm almost out of this so i need to go back but edamame and i just buy a frozen bag like this i put it in a little dish with a little bit of water and i microwave it and that's it and so i like to add adam mame it's really good to have crunch in these bowls so i like to put some shredded carrot sticks for the poke bowls those are really good cucumber i love to have cucumber in my sushi that's like my favorite vegetable having sushi so i have to have cucumber when i make these bowls and then sometimes i'll cook up some sugar snap peas so it's almost more like kind of like a stir fry but i just like the taste of peas with seafood one last thing that i like to add in is because i like sushi rolls with cream cheese sometimes it's good to add a chopped up laughing cow and that kind of mixes in and it replaces the flavor of that cream cheese and it is very good i don't know what it is about cream cheese and seafood but this works so well in the bowls for that taste sometimes when i make the poke bowls i like to make a little sauce and i just mix usually like a little bit of soy sauce a little bit of rice wine vinegar and some sesame oil and it just makes the perfect sauce and i usually will measure out like a teaspoon of sesame oil and then the rest the soy sauce is zeros more points in the rice wine vinegar but other than that i just like to play around with different sauces i'll top it with toasted sesame seeds a lot of the time and yeah they're just really fun to mess around with and find different ingredients you like so then i'm going to end with my favorite bowl at the moment this one is just i could eat this every day i don't get sick of it i have a few different variations for it but it's so good and that is a greek bowl okay so these have been my all-time favorite lately these greek bowls and i pretty much stick to the same ingredients when i make these but i just don't get sick of them so i start with the rice and then usually my favorite protein of choice is the tyson grilled chicken nuggets because they're just like a plain chicken but they're good but what i really prefer when i do have them is a leftover turkey burger so i'll make turkey burgers for dinner just out of a 99 lean ground turkey and that is zero points so it's a zero point meat and just like the chicken is as well but i just cut up the leftover burger put it in the bowl and it is so good i don't know what it is about the flavor of them but i just love them with the greek bowls the next thing that i always always put in my greek bowls is roasted red peppers and i this one is just from walmart these i got from trader joe's but i like have two other jars because i go through a jar at least a week like i eat these like crazy and they're zero smart points and just the best flavor like i love these so i always put those on my greek bowls and then another thing that i always include is if i have them which i try to always have them and i just get a giant jar from sam's club but artichoke hearts and these i just usually take out and drain them and chop them in half and they are just so good i just love artichokes and again it's another veggie that i'm throwing in there a lot of these bowls i try to make very veggie based so yeah they have the carbs from the rice they have the protein from the meat and then i try to mainly stick to veggies i add like a sauce and a cheese maybe but i try to find different veggies to throw in there so after i put in the cucumber a lot of times i also like to cook up some zucchini and that's really good so zucchini is good in there it's also really good in any of the other bowls i like zucchini it can work with anything i also put my mix of peppers sometimes and then feta cheese is so good and in the beginning when i started making these i got reduced fat but i realized that for me personally i think it's worth getting just like the regular whole fat three smart points for a serving sometimes i don't even use the whole serving but i always weigh it out anyway and it's just just so good mixed in and then i actually haven't even tried this yet but i'm really excited too this is a spreadable feta cheese and it's roasted red pepper flavor and i want to see if i got this from aldi this will be really good this will just be like when i run out of my fat i'll probably open this up and try using that and this is something that just mixes in really well it's kind of like that cashew queso it's a little thicker but mixed in with the rice and all the veggies is so good and then probably the most important thing and this is like what got me started on these greek bowls is this dip that i got from aldi and i have two dips that i use this one also works this is just like a spinach and kale greek yogurt dip from trader joe's it's a very low point i think you can have three tablespoons for one smart point so i really like that but my all-time favorite dip right now i can't get enough of this stuff so this is the tzatziki it's the spinach parmesan and then they also have like a parmesan artichoke or spinach artichoke no spinach artichoke so good and i usually just weigh it out a lot of times i just put my bowl on the scale and weigh out the different ingredients that i have to weigh but this stuff is so good it's so creamy and mixed in with the rice i don't know what it is about the flavor but i love it so this is something that i've if i want a bowl i will go drive to aldi and get more of this if i'm out of it because it is so worth it and it is so tasty it is low point for what it is and yeah all these bowls are just so filling and so packed with nutrients and i just if i don't have them for lunch one day then i have them for dinner that day like i do not get sick of having these bowls because there's so many different ingredients you can use there's so many just different variations you can make them into so i am actually going to be making greek bowls for us for dinner tonight so i'm just going to kind of quickly show you how i do that and i'm excited this is something that i really enjoy super easy to make like i said these usually take me like five minutes to assemble because i have the peppers ready the chicken i throw in the air fryer or if i throw like a turkey burger in the microwave the meat never takes long and that's usually cooking while i'm prepping the bowl so i heat up the rice and a lot of times what i'll do is i'll just put the rice in and then any other ingredient that needs to be heated up so if the peppers came out of the fridge i put the rice i put the peppers i put if i'm making like a mexican one i'll put the black beans anything that's going to go in the microwave for the first round i just toss in with the rice heat it up and then i put any like the cold ingredients on so like roasted red peppers i keep cold artichokes to keep cold the cheese the dip so it just depends but i'm gonna go ahead and make that and we're gonna eat dinner [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] okay so that is how i make three of the variations of bowls that i make but like i said honestly the options are endless like you can make so many different things work well together and it's really easy to throw low point or zero point ingredients in it really does feel like a filling and satisfying meal so don't be afraid to have some carbs with your rice like i said you could do cauliflower rice if you want but really this is something that i'm like i'm gonna use my points for some rice some cheese and some dips and the rest is pretty much veggies and protein so i hope you guys found this video helpful if you did please go ahead and give it a like and subscribe to my channel and i'll see you next time [Music] you
