I still cant believe, the same guy i used to cheer on while he hilariusly failed gran turismo license tests, the same dude that made me bawl my eyes off with his "Worst year of my live" video, the same legend that kept me awake at crazy hours while he attempted time and time again to win with a certain Long Boye, to the lows and extreme highs on the Tractor (that 24hrs of le mans victory was bonkers), Winning for grandpa... Watching his absolute joy when he realised his voice was part of the grand turismo opening credits. Watching him grow from a bundle of nerves, at his first couple of gigs as a "shouty person" to a confident presenter.

The same, broken and downtrodden shedster, being an absolute supertar last year, and always believing he was a dnf away from being done.

To this. An absolute legend.

Man, i don't know you personally Jimmy, whe might have had a few twitter chats, and a few laughs at my stupid donnos. But im proud as hell. And man, whatever happens, you managed to fulfill your childhood dream (heck.... my childhood dream!). Not many people can say that. I certainly cant.

Keep going, Jamble.

Dont forget to throw a couple of carton sheets in the basement before you move to the big shed... its cold down here!

A bit borderline for the sub, but rule #2 probably applies.

[Music] [Applause] [Music] hey guys jimmy here welcome to silverstone yeah like actually silverstone not fake silverstone uh it's friday which means test day for round one of the brickcar endurance championship of course i'm here with prager with our glorious goldie next to us the prager r1 turbo you join us uh mid morning we have a test session coming up i'm going to be going out in the car for about half an hour or so just trying to get used to the circuit get used to how the car is and then later on in the day we're gonna be working on things like setup and getting the car quick for tomorrow but um yeah feeling pretty feeling pretty buzzed angle see i felt quite nervous here i feel i don't think compton's the word but i don't feel like i am unsure of myself also i'm looking to fly look check it out suit from marina adorned with sponsors not like a business card but how cool was it to be in my own little race suit my name on as well also that was something because unfortunately granddad can't be here to race with me so we got him on the back important to have him there but um yeah i've literally got to go and get ready now put on my suit put on my helmet or suits on i jump in the car and have my first taste of silverstone and massive downforce t1 i'm told is 6th gear in the lift see what it's like and with that it was time to get back into the car my first time since angles here and i got to say that tesla angle seat did absolute wonders for one my confidence and two just approaching the car in general before to me it was this big scary machine that i was afraid of breaking but now that i knew what it was capable of getting back into it felt familiar it felt right so britgar i think i was probably telling you guys what it is because um i have to be honest until i watched that one episode of the top key another one with the uh the bmw the black one um that was a brick car race and that's the first time i had ever heard of that championship so we're not doing 24 hour races thankfully because i'm not sure my my little gamer neck could take it um but we're doing the brickcar endurance championship which means that most rounds we go to most circuits are a double header two races one hour each me i'm gonna be driving in class one which is basically full of pragers and gt3 cars including if you look over there lovely steve the nissan gtr that won the bath first 12 hours in 2015. that is the exact car and it is my direct competition porsche cup car as well here so brick car pretty much operates on the sort of mantra that if you've got a car and want to race they'll find a class for it come drive whilst we have these cars at that end we also have like diesel golfs down in in class 4 which will be lapping pretty quickly uh in these cars but yeah looking forward to getting out there i'm hoping that all the uh the practice i've done in simrace especially in our trusty ilms tractor ldr18 is going to come in handy i think it will but uh anyone wants to find out the rest of the test day was really just getting out the pit lane a lot jen would go out for a session with a little bit of feedback i'd go out and give a little bit of feedback to the best of my ability just to try and get the car to the point where we're both comfortable driving in anger and most importantly around traffic which would play a big role in the race coming up unfortunately though we weren't without issues so unfortunately when the reality is a real life motorsport it doesn't always go swimmingly we've been kind of suffering throughout the day with some wheel issues where the wheel will lose connection to the car basically which means that we can't shift or we can't press any of the buttons on it so unfortunately gems have to come back in and it means that you know i've lost about half of my running time for the day it's a shame but that's just motorsport you know that's the difference between this and the sim stuff can go wrong sometimes so we're having a new wheel brought in for tomorrow that'll hopefully fix it the issue we're having and then we can get out there tomorrow and practice some qualifying and get that last bit of the car running but yeah that's it now race day tomorrow looking forward to it it's gonna be pretty bloody great so then uh round one of brit car is today all this preparation we've done a bit physical being getting signatures it all leads to kind of this moment so feeling pretty nervous isn't the word just sort of like the anticipation you know i'm really looking forward to getting in the car getting underway the last yesterday was a bit tricky in testing we had a couple of problems but today the car is running flawlessly we've been out for practice already jim and i are running pretty much identical times which is really nice to me really good progress i think and i think we're about fifth in practice so we can do that in quality which comes up in the next half hour or so then we're really looking good i think for the race um in terms of expectation this is something i've been thinking about a little bit because you know i'm aware there are a lot of people following this interested to see how i do be it good or bad you know and i think that the realistic expectation is if i can get this car to the end of the race you know whilst having my first car my first car race ever three weeks ago and now being here i think that's going to be a big achievement so that's going to be the goal keep out of trouble and just make sure that you know i'm listening to what i've been told by the engineers with data stuff like that and just applying that to the circuit and of course we've got our very uh very handy sticker down the bottom here just in case anything goes wrong so i think we're pretty much bulletproof now qualifying for brick car takes place on the same day as the races and as for the regs i had to go out and complete at least three laps so i could take part in the race but we decided to sort of split the session down the middle seeing as gem and i have had similar pace up to this point this is where i have my first learning experience of what it's like to deal with traffic in real life because in my session i was unable to find a single clear lap the prager is a fast car but it's extremely quick in the corners and that meant you could catch them very easily and just have your lap completely ruined by one car in the wrong place at the wrong time i know i should have thought i should be like deep in the freeze qualified for the year we didn't do batteries like the top ten jumper in a great lap to get us there i just unfortunately couldn't find any space of mine i said before but ray's coming up in about an hour or so and yeah i think our goal really is just to get to the end i can't really think of any other goal just just get there and and uh keep the car in one piece but the race would be good if we can like pair up with another prager the toe you get down the back straight is crazy so we can pair up with somebody else down the back straight i think we'll be sitting pretty for the [Music] race so race one is about 10 minutes away right now jem's going to be starting the car so she's going to get ready um but yeah some nerves now it's kind of crazy to think that in about a half hour so time i'm going to be out in circuit uh fighting against gt3 cars and other braggers so just kind of just try to you know take it all as uh in its stride and knowing that you know i know i can do it just gotta be confident in my ability and just try and enjoy it as much as possible because that's really that's really the main thing really in it but uh yeah let's try let's go have a good one i tell you what it's weird how time can get away from you at these race meetings before i knew it jen was taking goldie out onto the grid for our first start in the brickcar endurance series all i could do really was watch on and watch the stream on my phone whilst gem was doing probably one of the spookiest things you can do as a racing driver a rolling start in a multi-class field starting directly behind the baffles winning nissan gtr in front which as you can see left us for absolute dead going down towards t1 jim had a bit of a cautious start and as such lost a couple of places overall but more importantly fell behind some of the cars from a lower class as i've said before this prager absolute weapon in the corners on its own the circuit probably one of the fastest cars on the track full stop but in traffic you sort of lose that cornering ability and because we aren't quite as quick in a straight line you can see down the straights here we don't have that ability to pull alongside and just sort of drive around something we have to do that on corner exit and on corner entry so gem got a little bit stuck behind some of the slower classes of cars you can see here coming through stowe one of the porsche cup cars there gem all over the back of this thing um we're just not quite able to get by on the first few laps of course the tires are cold the brakes are cold as well and this car it being basically a baby prototype it needs to warm up it needs to get up to operating temperature before you can really utilize the things that make this car quick and you can see now as we come on to the second lap gem now taking advantage of the fact that brakes are warm diving up the inside of the porsche and getting that move made nice and easy but as soon as gem started to get into a river the um the safety car came out a very very quick safety car in this race and uh well here's why look at the state of that that's a big impact there look at the back of that legion and take some time to get that repaired as we said during qualifying i believe that's the only car of its kind in the uk and with the pit stop window being 20 minutes to 35 minutes i had to make sure i was ready to get in the car we've got a safety car right now so it's a bit early to do the stops so we'll just see how long it lasts there's a car in the gravel i'm not sure where i think stove maybe yeah so keep going and bang on the door 20 minutes jem comes into the pit lane it was so close in fact that we were literally a second inside the windows and two cars in front of us who pitted as well trying to catch that 20-minute pit window actually got drive-through penalties we were the first car into the pits so big thumbs up to our strategist for getting that one right but it did mean however i had to now drive 40 minutes and my first race in brickcar where my longest stint previously had been 15 minutes [Music] and here we are rolling down the pit lane for my first ever on track action in a race in the brit car endurance series in the prague coming up the pit lane checking my mirrors to make sure there's nothing coming through this very fast uh left right and i was really happy to see that when i look back in my mirrors there was absolutely nothing there as i said our strategist played an absolute blinder which meant that we got pretty much catapulted into free air and having made our stop under the safety car our stop would be a lot quicker than everybody else around us we lose a lot less time compared to our competitors so really i kind of understood that from looking in my mirrors and seeing that i was in the gap so i just went out there and thought right time to attack early be as quick as i can as early as i can and really take advantage of that gap coming down the back straight here again coming into stowe as a fourth gear corner you throw the car to the inside and let it just drift out next that's a team brick car in front getting by them nice and quickly and this is where i first started to get my experience of traffic you can see a couple of cars there snaking through veil and coming through the last corner and i guess this is the weird thing where i say sim racing kind of prepared me for this i was looking forward and thinking right where am i going to catch these guys what is the most efficient way by just making sure to use that corner exit speed of the prague use the corner entry speed use the braking to get alongside as quickly as possible because one of the downsides to driving this program as cool as it is is that it's absolutely tiny look at us that's compared to a tcr car on the left there we're barely at the top of this wheel arches so these guys really have to see you otherwise they're going to turn in they're going to cause some damage and here i have my first taste of lower class overtaking higher class and it's just nowhere you can go in this situation um it being my third my first race sorry i did not want to go free wide at any point really let alone um to overtake traffic so i was just nice and patient here held behind the bmw for a little while and just sort of spied my gap i did lose a little bit of time to the cars ahead but you can get a nice slingshot here coming through the last corner and then down the lewis hamilton straight so it's just a nice place to sort of chill out and again think ahead so again coming now into the left-hander and the party aston martin the tcr car also sees us on the inside which is a bit of a blessing which means we can just slip on by and then get on with our day and uh already i was starting to feel some of the effects of the car i mean the longest i've driven the car to this point was about you know 15 minutes in a row and i was going to be in the car for 40 and i could already start to feel my arms they weren't aching but i could start to feel the strain i could feel that my neck especially through stowe here miss turning when you chuck the car to the inside your neck wants to go the other way of course you're you've got the weight of the helmet going around there as well um but it was just trying to make to keep that in the back of my mind and just focus on every apex race one i think for me was more about exploring what i could do in the car and how i felt in the car rather than you know going out there and putting in blistering nap times because i knew i still had a lot to learn so you can see me checking my mirrors of that that's because the lead lamborghini absolutely throwing it up the inside that lamborghini seriously fast i mean i have no idea how much horsepower is but it's got to be well north of 600 with similar error and brakes just weighs a bit more so there's not really much chance you can get of overtaking it as you see just sort of siding past a gt4 porsche up here into the first corner that first corner here it's just uh it's meant to be a blend of the turning but i didn't quite have the testicle the 42 dollars just tapping the break on the way in so i could have been a bit quicker through there definitely but it's just about trying to make sure that again the car's in one piece and i'm getting around in one piece and you can see a bit cautious with the ginetta there could have gone around the outside earlier but got it done coming onto the straight that's the important thing and of course the car is in one piece um so we didn't have any radio communication in this race but we did have pit balls and i looked to the right about now and i see that we're in third place third place in class and i'm thinking what the hell how has this happened how are we third um i mean basically other cars had a couple of issues there were that com there was like contact early on between abby eaton and uh the other the white prager which meant that we've been sort of promoted to third and i was thinking oh surely not you know i'm and i i keep seeing i keep going around i keep seeing the board i keep seeing third place on the board and i'm just really trying to keep my head thinking of the next corner and not thinking of the bit after that because our my my goal for this season is for us to get a podium at some point it doesn't have to be a win doesn't have to be second but to get a third would be amazing given how uh how tight the field is but unfortunately that was put page um getting towards the end of the race i was getting very very tired and that white car there lunging up the inside that was uh the car that eventually finished third getting by me and then just disappearing off up the road and the reason for that is i have an mp2 driver in that car versus a sim shed dweller and to be honest i actually couldn't physically keep the car um you know going as quick as i wanted to because my arms were just absolutely ruined and if that wasn't enough look in the mirrors can you see that in the mirror on the right there that is a nissan gtr gt3 bearing down on me and again i'm you can see my neck now going for the second to the last or the last corner i'm just on the headrest i cannot keep my head up any longer um this is something that we're definitely going to work on uh physically but of course watching it back you're thinking i'll christ look at this guy with his nude alarms and this gtr here if you want to see the difference in straight lines between the prager and the gt3 gtl then just quickly look to your right and you'll watch this car just streak past us down the straight and we're a bit quicker in the corner shore but to be honest again physically at this point i didn't quite have i couldn't do that i wasn't quite able to do that so dtr got away unfortunately and uh again just um popping past the porsche cap car there but i was looking every that just for that finishing just for the checkered flag to say come on finally come on we're across the line we're done surely now and i see the flag and i just arm up straight away we've managed to get to the end of our first brick car endurance race and not only that we came home in p4 in class and p6 overall as debuts go i don't think that could have gone much better and you'll see me i'm just absolutely out of breath i'm panting in the car because my body moves i'm just trying to get my chair in my lungs as possible and then going down the back straight i meet jack fabi gives me a big thumbs up awesome team spirit of prague amazing race p4 in class p6 overall really fastest man it's a little bit tired as you can probably tell after that one but we came home fourth in class six overall which is amazing yeah can't really ask more than that for the first time but i'm shattered now i i need to drink something because i need to uh [Music] scary man what two hours now so i'm gonna just basically chill out you know for two hours try and uh recuperate a bit and uh schedule a bit more training i have been doing i think yeah just reflecting now what that was um of course my first like proper big boy race really isn't it weird to which i think that as you can probably tell i'm quite tired i'm quite knackered now and um people by asking me like oh you know how was the race and how are you feeling during the race so really when you're out there you just kind of focus on what you're doing a little bit i did notice that i was running third i saw they go from p4 to p3 on the board i was like oh my god oh my god trophy oh my god and then um about eight nine minutes to go i saw the guy in my mirror and i was like oh he's coming back for the film like i can't defend from him um now that wasn't me being pessimistic and it was just that i was so tired already at that point and he was i think that guy's an mp2 driver like so he just caught me in past me but um still really cool to come p4 in the first place sick overall as well some really nice results and then we started p9 overall and to have a little bit of a fight for gtl that's cool that was really awesome it kind of killed me a bit to let it go but i couldn't again just didn't quite have it in me so i mean really the thing to take away from this first race is i need to go to a gym a bit more yeah i'm i'm happy with it though good good debut i think so as you can tell by the rather empty pick garage cars have just gone to the grid for race two i've just about recovered shoulder's still a bit achy but we should be all right jem again is going to be starting the car uh we're starting this time from sixth position that's what we finished uh overall last time hoping we can get a bit of a better start and again there's no safety car because if there's a safety car again we've got to do the same or i get in and do the longer stint but uh yeah it should be good i'm i'm feeling good about this one i've kind of broken in now so um i think people all the rust has been shaken off everybody so this is probably going to be i don't know better rates i don't know i'm quite happy in the first race but uh yeah expecting good wins so time for race two and again it will be gem starting the car a lot more experience than me we thought would be in a safer pair of hands putting her out there first a better start this time the gtr though doesn't really care about that and just smashes through the middle just that straight line speed of that v6 twin turbo is just insane and gem making our way through the first couple of corners nice and cleanly but what she doesn't know is behind her it's one of the biggest crashes i've seen in person at a circus wells kapadi a car that has got the lead and the nissan is up into second place we've lost a couple of cars a couple of cars got off at the back there let's try and see what happened at the start watch the background uh tim docker's one of the cars going off on the outside and yes it is the blue ferrari spin back across and wallop straight into the side that's a big accident straight into the side of stewart lines in the geneta let's hope he's okay there were another two cars went off on the outside as well one was tim docker yeah the safety car is out not surprisingly look at the mess of the complex safety car there's a big crash at um on the first lap down at c2 t3 down there uh jem got through it which is good um lots of ferraris didn't it seemed so uh just kind of waiting for what's going on they they watched the safe hotel and they took it out and they're putting it back out again so it's kind of confusing but um yeah we'll see if they clean it up after safe to go while i just do a flag it was pretty big here so hopefully everyone's okay it's a very weird sort of pandemonium when you're in the pit lane you have no idea what's going on but here's jem's driver's eye view you can see the ferrari on the left there absolutely destroyed and the marshals really had a big job to get the track back into a usable state so jem had to go out there to keep the tires we'll keep the brakes warm whilst the marshals did their job [Music] we just saw this second ago medical vehicle sort of leaving the scene of the accident down at the first couple of corners of the group reminded me that motorsport is quite dangerous when you you might you forget about that when you get in the car of course but when you're here waiting for your car to come round and it doesn't it's a sinking feeling luckily we're still running okay but i just hope that we're seriously injured i haven't had the word yet i'll let you know i've been watching the countdown that was just ash there saying that he reckons that yeah we might be out for 40. luckily for me the safety card came in which means i didn't have to do another 40 minutes in the car i don't think my arms could take it but watch this amazing awareness here from jen that's charlie martin there slow on the restart not realizing i think that the green flag has dropped gem though looking really far ahead and just managing to gain a couple of places right on the restart probably in the easiest place possible which i'm sure i know it charlie a little bit but it was good for us so that was nice so gave me a more of a fighting chance when it was my turn to get in the car a few laps later on [Music] and for my second time coming out the pit lane i gotta tell you i was fired up i was aching my neck hurt my arm was hurt but the adrenaline from being on circuit and knowing that i could go faster if i just believed in myself believed in the car that was in my head so much so you see there i just tapped a little button on the top of the cockpit there that was to turn the the lights on so i could flash and that's not to be aggressive to be like hey get out my way it's more of a please see me i'm a very small car don't run me over which is quite important in this situation when you're lapping traffic so right now i'm down straight and i'm flashing this aston martin in front so he sees me he does see me he doesn't turn in on me coming down into stowe and i'm starting to realize just how late i can break in this thing this car does not weigh much at all and has superb braking capability and again you'll demonstrate that coming down into the veil here the porsche gt4 on the right thank you very much son up the inside i go it's not for position of course but it's just to make sure i can get by these cars as quick as possible i did not want to be losing time in traffic the way i did in the first race and that's something that comes with confidence i'm starting to learn that you have to be really really decisive on circuit with these moves because if you hover in someone's mirrors for a while they aren't going to know what you're doing you're not going to know what's happening and you're both just going to lose time and here's an example of that through here so there's gtm gt cup porsche in front there the blue car just doesn't really look in his mirrors such as the lambo making a half move into the first corner and it ends up slowing us both up and we have to then try and find our way past this car a couple of corners later on but it's really really easy for that to happen because driving a race car is a really you know it's visceral and it's kind of overwhelms your senses a bit and sometimes you forget to like check your mirrors stuff like that it's it's odd how those things come by so in front here is one of our fellow progress just getting up the inside i think there was an issue there um for that car but it meant we went up to fifth position so uh going back up to fifth which was uh nice so getting back up through the field again um after the start of the race and now coming around this long long right hand again my neck was really starting to go again but i was just trying not to focus on it too much that flash of blue by the way was that portion that spun you barely see it from the onboard which is why i don't really mention it but you coming around the last corner it's just a car sideways in the circuit okay that's that that's normal but you might also spy in front another flash of blue that is the bridal brothers the the twins ed and chris who i can now tell the part just about who were having a couple of issues i think with their car i'm not sure that struggling was set up for something over the course of the weekend and i was actually catching them this was this was the fourth place they're coming through stowe i get a much better exit i think that it was ed in the car at the time he sees me moves to the uh the outside there just gets off the throttle a little bit he lets me through and that puts us back up into fourth place so uh amazing to see the board sort of change over the course of the racing you know what i'm going forward i'm actually doing it it's it's mad thinking that because that's not something that you i ever thought would happen during this race as we're going through and now coming on to the back straight again a bit more lap traffic there with this uh quite mint almost mint aston martin's they've got a lot of time for that and then just tucking into the slipstream of the car in front once you're in a tow in this thing you seem to that you just exponentially accelerate it it's mad absolutely awesome fun to drive this car and i thought what would be a really nice idea is to do what i did with some of my other videos and just take you through a full flying lap this is my fastest race tap and the fastest race lap of the car in race 2 at silverstone international in the praga r1 so you're coming down lewis hamilton straight you got up into sith gear here now i've got a little tap of the break on the way and you can just blend but i'm sick gear through here back on the throttle completely flat through here this is really uh a big hit on your arms and neck but not this corner this corner right here is horrible on your arms down to third gig carry the speeding on the front or nice now they get that turbo spinning then almost hit the rev limiter in third gear keep it in third through here nice early and then accelerate out to the exit you can use all this stuff on the left the brick car guys that you do that and then we go down the hangar straight a bit of a chance to check the mirrors and check the temps down here make sure everything's okay nothing's on fire that's always good up into sixth gear 150 mile an hour before you break stamp on the anchors into stow just ease the car into the corner onto almost onto the curb and then they just ease out again do not fight this car as the car likes to be worked with and then we break just a mark on the right hand side there down into the veil with second gear through here now just a little squirt on the front up to third for traction easy on the front on an exit and then just through the last corner completely factory up into fourth up into fifth and that is the lap of silverstone international in the prager and you do that a few times i tell you what it does start to it hurts it hurts after a while i'll tell you that for free but now sort of winding down into the last parts of the race and i know i'm in p4 here i know the race is over i know that i've driven the best i can drive so coming across the start finish line seeing that checkered flag we've got for the weekend in one piece the car was absolutely bulletproof i was just ecstatic an amazing weekend for us in brickcar round one [Music] so yeah p4 again two three fours in the debut car came up in one piece no damage no nothing i we can't do much better than that really can we really really happy with that um got a bit more confident for traffic towards the end a bit easier i think and uh i'm starting to again feel a little bit tired towards the end but they put a bit of head rest in there so i've got a bit of a chill around the fast corners but um yeah i don't think that could have gone much better really so super happy with that really happy there it is the bits of uh thai rubber on there every now and then but do you know what worked guys this sticker down here see if you don't own one of these they work point proven scientifically proven on the racetrack please um easy that's our day done uh silverstone round one and two of the brick car endurance championship not only did we survive and keep the car in one piece we've got two fourth positions big haul of points which is everything i've been saying when we uh turned up here on friday for testing super happy how the car was gem was amazing as always and uh yeah i just sort of muddled my way around with a bad neck but um yeah thank you all so much uh for watching and supporting me i wouldn't be here at all without any of you guys and it's kind of surreal to be posing for all these photos all the time i'm not really a poser i've learned to smile on commands quite creepy and of course to prague for giving this opportunity um they are super passionate about what they do and seeing it all come together like this all the cars sort of in a row is a little bit emotional actually so uh yeah i think i'll leave it there guys um next round is netter ten in two weeks time hopefully we can do as well there take care have an awesome day see you next time [Music] you
