so a little over a month ago i uploaded two videos on my youtube channel about my and my husband's experience with getting coveted since then i've been getting the same questions asked over and over again so i thought i would create one third and final video about our covet experiences to answer the six most frequently asked questions on those two older videos quick disclaimer before i get in this video anything i say is not medical advice this is just me telling you about my experience and please talk to your doctor if you are looking for specific medical advice for yourself so the first are questions related to testing people asked what day do we get tested what types of tests do we get and how long did it take to test negative so when we first started having symptoms my husband and i decided to intentionally take two different types of tests so in iowa there were two different types of tests being administered there's the pcr test which is administered by the state of iowa there's a multiple day wait to get in and then it takes a couple days after that to get results and this test is free again mr by the state of iowa then there is the rapid antigen test this one i was able to sign up for a slot within an hour of when i decided i wanted to get a test and i had results within three hours of deciding to get a test this one i did have to pay a hundred dollars for and it's administered by a private company if you're interested in what the differences are between the antigen test and the pcr test i'll put a link in the description below with more details about the two types of tests so like i said i got the rapid test and i got that on my second day of symptoms and it came back positive then my husband he signed up for the pcr test but he wasn't able to get in until his seventh day of symptoms and i think it was on his ninth day of symptoms it came back also positive so then after our symptoms subsided i decided to sign up for a pcr test for the state of iowa and i had this test on my on 16 days after my first symptoms had started and it came back positive again so at this time i i had an annual physical coming up it was 31 days after my first symptoms so i decided i would go to the anal physical and i would ask the doctor if she recommended that i get another test and i test until i test negative or i stop getting the test and what she said lined up with what i've been reading online which is that you can test positive for months after you get covered but you're only contagious for the first couple weeks so it doesn't really tell you anything new if you get another test a month or two months out and you're still positive and so she advised to not get any more tests and again that lined up with what i was reading what i was thinking because every time i go get a test that is a test someone else cannot have and it also increases the wait time for people who actually might really need to know because they are currently contagious and don't know that they have code so technically we have gotten three tests and all have been positive and we have not gotten a negative test at all and we do not plan to get tested anymore unless of course we get new symptoms in the future but if we're symptom-less we do not plan to get tested um anymore so the second set of questions we've been getting asked are related to our dogs so in the second video i did show our dogs and a lot of people got concerned and asked if our dogs got covered from us and before i uploaded that video i didn't even know that dogs could get coveted i have since read that this is true they have found positive covid and some dogs um fortunately our dogs did not get sick and did not show any signs of having coveted and also some people asked if we had people watch our dogs and we didn't again we had no idea that that was even possible but our dogs seemed super healthy and super normal and never seemed any different than their normal cells so the third question is by far the most asked question i have gotten on my first video about our symptoms and that is did you and your husband have a fever so in my synthesis video i forgot to talk about whether we had a fever but i did put a screen in at the end saying hey i forgot to talk about this this is the answer um but i'm sure there's lots of people who didn't watch all the way to the end and so then like i said like every day i've been getting asked two three four five times a day whether we had a fever so let's answer that question so i took my husband's temperature on his second and third day of symptoms and i didn't write it down but it wasn't over a hundred and then i took my own temperature every single day that i had symptoms and the highest that i got was 99.6 which i think is like is technically called a low grade fever i will say that i think my temperature normally runs at like 97.5 so i think it's a little bit lower than the average person so potentially 99.6 was a fever for me but i never got over 100 so that's i guess all i can explicitly say is the highest my temperature got was 99.6 whether you think that's a fever or not that's the answer to the question the highest my temperature got was 99.6 next question was did you have shortness of breath and this one was less of a question from people and more of people were stating it as a fact i had two of my top comments on both videos were saying things like you seem out of breath or you seem short of breath and so i just wanted to address this question so i i thought about talking about this in my symptoms video but i felt like i couldn't definitively say yes i was short of breath or no i wasn't short of breath and so i didn't put it in there so let me tell you the details of what i know so on my eighth day of symptoms i started noticing that i was taking really deep breaths and so i started getting worried because i know the second week of symptoms is when people have breathing issues and so i was thinking am i actually having breathing issues or do i know people have breathing issues and so i'm thinking about my breathing more so i ordered an oximeter which is the little thing you can attach to your finger and it tells you your oxygen saturation i believe i'll go get mine actually so this is what i ordered my eighth day of symptoms you just put your finger inside so my oxygen saturation right now is balancing between 97 and 98 and my heart rate is at 86. i just ran to the bathroom and ran back here so that is possibly why and when i got this on my it came through amazon so it came like on the 8th or 9th day of symptoms my oxygen saturation was at 100 and i tested the next day was at 98. it was between 98 and 100 every day so that was the best i could come up with for a definitive way to test my oxygen i will say i did actually like jog around my house to see if i felt out of breath and i felt fine i felt normal so i guess i guess what i would say is any test i could do to see if i was having oxygen problems indicated i didn't have any problems if you guys are interested in getting an oxymeter i will put a link to that the one i got on amazon below i do wish i would have had it from the beginning because then i could have just checked every day just as long just along with checking my temperature and then i could have known for sure like i didn't have anything wrong with my breathing throughout the whole process instead of just knowing after day eight i definitely didn't because i was testing it every day next question was have you gotten your smell and taste back thank you guys for asking and for wondering i think so i lost my smell and taste completely like on my fourth day of symptoms and eight days later was when i first started getting it back and then i felt like it was like it came back maybe five to ten percent per day after that until i had my smell and taste completely back so at this point i do feel like it is completely back to normal and then the final question a lot of people asked how are you doing now and do you have any long-term impacts again thank you guys for caring and for asking and the nice thing about having the annual physical 30 days after my first symptoms was that i was able to get everything tested to see if everything was lining up good and everything was good we did blood labs everything came back good took my blood pressure my oxygen my weight and everything looked good hopefully that answers the questions you guys might have had thank you all for watching if you are interested in seeing other videos from me you can subscribe to my channel and if you found this video informative please give it a thumbs up thank you all for watching and stay tuned because i'll have
