Why would customs take his board?

He seemed to be really getting in to the groove and enjoying the food/people/scenery of Sydney in the morning...

Hopefully the experience with having his Boosted board taken (rightly or wrongly) doesn't sour his whole experience with Australia.

Emirates' policy on personal motorized vehicles:

"For safety reasons, we can’t accept personal motorised vehicles such as hoverboards, mini-Segways and smart or self-balancing wheels on our flights. We can’t carry them either as checked-in baggage or as hand luggage as they contain large lithium batteries. This regulation still applies even if you’re connecting to our flights from an airline that has accepted them."

They specify that those between 100 Wh and 160 Wh can be taken on in carry on (the emptied Boosted Board should be able to be checked in)

CASA's policy on the same things (this is the aviation authority Australia uses):

"Generally forbidden. Check with your airline. These devices often contain batteries that exceed the provision for carriage in passenger’s luggage (160 Watt Hours). Devices with batteries of 101-160 Wh may only be carried with the approval of the airline; however, due to the limited product specifications, unverifiable quality control around the manufacture, and difficulty in establishing compliance with Australian consumer product safety standards, most airlines will not allow these devices."

As such, Casey should've done some research. Furthermore, the DIRD (Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development) specification on "sporting goods" is not very specific, but it seems, from the list, to mainly characterize those that are sharp. Just a friendly reminder: Please don't rig your camera to film people at the ATM's like Casey did at 05:50

We know that Casey is a good guy but imagine how uncomfortable you would be if some random dude where filming the ATM while you withdraw money. Especially from a position that can see the Numpad. Super bad practice.

Haha awesome.

Casey's referring to my friend Tom at 4:33!

I love sneakerboy (the store he was in). The staff are awesome. I'm glad he decided to record :)

This is the brand he was after specifically if anyone's curious (not my taste but whatever, lol)

Also, Australian customs is pretty bad on the way in, but i've never had an issue when leaving the country... yet. our policies do suck though :(

Does Casey not understand that Emirates has its own policies that are seperate to Australian regulations?

This is why he got his board taken, if lithium batteries ignite they can be extremely hard to put out and can cause a major risk to the rest of the plane.
