[Music] hey what's up everybody daddy dave we're out here in the garage today um trying to get my little daily driver ready for mpk daily driver class everybody knows i crashed the car it's going to be a few weeks three or four weeks before bob gets it done gets it back up and running so i can run that in mpk so meanwhile i think i'm going to see if i can ruin some uh ruin some people's days in daily driver class so we're out here today i am going to change the rear gear in it i usually run a 3-0 rear gear because i do drive it a lot and a lot of highway use so we're going to change rear gear take the air to water intercooler out of the back which seems to be illegal per the rules so we're going to get that out change the rear gear and just go over a few things and make sure it's worthy so for people that haven't seen it i will do a quick once over the truck so everybody can see the the parts that they haven't seen so they are rear mounted 62 millimeter turbo net x turbos this is the oil return pump so i have to pump oil back here to the turbos to keep them lubricated and they both drain into this tank through these big tubes drains into the tank and then this pump sends the oil back up to the motor of course we got calvert caltrax split monoliths [Music] quick performance 40 spline axles center section which i robbed out of my rear end i run for drag radials on my race car we just took the center section out of it it's got a 370 3d rear gear that's what's going in it caltrak bars ford nine edge moser uh tim and the guys over moser built that for me um probably five years ago [Music] still in there still doing great still have the factory fuel cell fuel tank in it it's got twin 450 pumps in it from beach works and there ain't no daily complete unless you got red drag and then black electrical tape somewhere and a bunch of zip ties exhaust pipe wastegate pipes exit out the back no mufflers full exhaust all the way up qa1 carbon fiber shaft probably a little crazy to run one of them in a daily drive around the street but when your race car and your daily driver have the same length driveshafts this one was in goliath for three years so i called qa1 they said it's probably time to replace it in that high horsepower race car but it's still good so we shoved it in a daily driver [Music] rpm built 4l80e with a brake riding in those guys are phenomenal pro torque 4l80 triple disc converter frame's all been powder coated got all qa1 tubular suspension on it qa1 coilovers tbm brakes on the front it is an iron block six liter [Music] cooler it's all basic bolt done stuff anybody can build one of these this is my boost pipe this is why it's so laggy um this goes all the way to the back where the turbos are through there and into the bed we'll lower it down i'll show you all that in a minute but that's why i got turbo lag [Laughter] [Music] and that's why i spray nitrous to it back up top [Music] it is a factory cast iron six liter out of a van less simple brackets on it it did have ac ac will be going back on it we're gonna put a vintage heat and air up underneath the dash because if you've ever messed with these you know there's no room up there with the heater box right now it's all gone all deleted [Music] trick flow heads hooker exhaust manifolds for ls swap s10s fire core spark plug wires the nitrous helps for the turbo lag and that's the rest of the pipe that runs all the way up from the turbos so that's a long pipe long ways to go three inch pipe you got to fill that with boost before it'll start making boost in the motor [Music] current performance wiring radiator fans we went to the track last night made some test runs just to get a baseline that's why that's in the back but we've got twin xs 12 volt batteries and there's the big air-to-water intercooler illegal for no prep kings and apparently illegal for some of the other daily driver classes [Music] i actually have a lot of fun with this truck i drive it more than people think i do and i enjoy driving it more than any other vehicle i got the race car it's work and it's it's a adrenaline rush for about three seconds and that's over with just over three seconds it's really dark in there but oh fuel tank there you go it's pretty much run down a little truck i've had it for a long time it's been a frame-off ordeal and now that we don't have a race car to race i will see if we can't compete in the daily driver make it interesting for some folks so i'll set the camera up we'll do the rear gears we'll be pulling calipers off rotors pulling the axles out unbolt the center section we'll see if we can't set the camera up get some of that i'll try to explain as we move and as we go on so just bear with me [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] so [Music] so [Music] okay we got the new one all ready to go back in pretty simple ordeal um probably heard this a million times on other videos and installs and how to's but you just got to repeat the whole process that you just did so i'll go grab the third member we'll slide it up in here stick some bolts on it axles breaks fill it back up put the tires back on it and we can go change a couple of things in fuel tech settings can go drive this thing around see if it helped it aaron at quick performance sends me these badass reusable gaskets um so it saves us a little bit of money there 10 flat washers 10 lock washers 10 nuts typical nine incher in that's a whole center section in these trucks came with a 7.5 gm 7.5 in and they are weak very very weak same rear end comes in monte carlos i've had nine of those cars so i know exactly what them rear ends will take and what they won't take been low nine seconds with a 75 rear end and a very heavy car that's with some aftermarket axles and some other things in it to beef it up but they're weak so everybody swaps them out with a ford nine inch you can't beat it you can't beat these rear ends they're in my race cars based off this same exact center section rear end housing [Music] we'll get our qa1 carbon fiber driveshaft back down hold your mouth just right to get it back in just like that [Music] i always do that [Music] [Music] double check everything just because that's it for down here put the axles back in and put the brakes back on it and fill it up call it a night so after the gear swap a little test drive to see how it does make sure all the shift points are right in the training make sure everything's good make sure i can still drive it so far all is good no noises in the rear end get on the highway see how it does here's about 70 2300 rpms how bad we can deal with that about 2500 rpms is 75 not too bad comes into boost pretty quick get out here and make a short hit on the bridge this little bridge we do some test hits on foreign still got straight tires so i call that success it runs a lot better than the 3-0 gear training settings are pretty close kicks down pretty good gets right into boost and it's still manageable and drivable so like go to no prep kings run the daily driver class and see if we can make it weird on some new people like i said i drive this more than anything and i love this little truck i think we're good we're driving around somewhere make sure everything's still good head for pennsylvania for the no prep kings daily driver class hey what's up everybody we are dropping the s10 off to get the air to water intercooler taken out and uh some new piping mate brought it up here to my boy josh has done most of the fab work on the turbo kit and uh so we brought it back up here for him to redo some of it and get rid of the air to water intercooler which is illegal so we'll be back in a few days pick it up and uh see what josh come up with and his creative mind to get rid of that for uh no prep kings daily driver classes so we'll be back to see what you come up with
