[Music] hello everyone welcome to another installment of music producer reacts today I am gonna react and listen to the music of risk of rain 2. you ask for this so you're getting it let's go [Music] thank you [Music] [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] wow okay this is highly ambient very groovy atmosphere going on here he is definitely going for a very distinct beat but at the same time he wants to hold back to keep the music from going to facing forward to make it lesser of an in-your-face type of music where it's trying to get your full attention but no this is obviously being set up to be a background ambient atmospheric music but at the same time something that you can vibe to I love all the mixture of all those synth pads very ethereal sounding but also very Lush very rich harmonies and those little samplings of those more tribal sounding percussion like a little bit of shakers and a little bit of skin drum it really adds to the more or alien sounding nature and knowing a little bit that this world this video game world is set on an alien world it definitely makes sense [Music] thank you [Music] okay the mixture of the patterns the Rhythm the arpeggios the ostinato chords all of it interlocking it's very mesmerizing it's almost like a musical representation of The Print Works of MC Escher you know those works of art that are also like optical illusions it kind of reminds me of that vibe that aesthetic but in music and the way he uses so many jazzified chords especially that clean rhythm guitar in the background oh my God that is so tasty sounding [Music] thank you [Music] okay the way it was mixed the way it was mixed and mastered really conveys a certain massiveness in terms of scale from the little research that I did it is set in an alien planet so this definitely conveys that huge scale that huge feeling that you are in an alien atmosphere and in Alien environment everything is strange everything is massive and you're like a tiny dot a tiny blip in the bigger scheme in the grander scheme of things yeah this is very much portrayed in the music wow oh [Music] wow okay you know one of my favorite things about electronic music EDM Electronica that entire bunch of electronic based music with a heavy synth and all that one of my favorite things about this genre is the way they manipulate your your attention and the tension of the music by removing the the loud elements like the drums the more nasal synth and then subduing it muffling it down even to kind of build down to go down and build back up and then they crank up the frequencies the higher frequencies slowly but surely and then they bring you back to the groove it's always such a satisfying when you go back to what they call the drop oh I don't know why it's a musical phenomenon that's mostly associated with just the electronic style of music I'm pretty sure that there's an aesthetic equivalent of this concept in other genres of music but this exact execution of lowering the high frequencies the treble only to raise it back up again to play with the tension of the music to play with the energy it's such a distinct thing with electronic music foreign [Music] [Music] thank you [Music] foreign [Music] this is the type of music that is an excellent type of chord progression to just Jam along to whatever instrument you play the same repeating chords but in a very chill very ethereal manner this is the type of music that is meant not to annoy you with repetition but just to you know to have you Vibe along and just chill and the fact that the guitar sounds the synth sounds those Melodies are doing more like long tone improvs rather than Melodies that are meant to be catchy so yes there is an existence of Melody that's going on but they're just like jamming along very improved sounding mostly to create a lush sounding but very ethereal chill atmosphere I love it it's oh my God it's very relaxing but also very engaging [Music] foreign [Music] [Applause] [Music] oh my God I love this this is making me nostalgic so much for a lot of those acid jazz jazz fusion sounds from the 80s to the early 90s oh my God this is the type of music that you can just play in the background have it on repeat and you know you can you wouldn't even notice that you had it on repeat 10 times just because it's so conducive to relaxation [Music] [Applause] thank you [Music] oh my God if this is what was like if I am the keyboardist and this was like a live band the keyboard player would be just like a you know playing all these long tone cards and just vibing like this oh my God it's making me do that right now [Music] oh [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] I don't know [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] wow that transition oh my God so addicting to listen to this foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] foreign wow okay that last segment is like a musical reminder to the player or to The Listener yes you were vibing earlier but remember you're still in an alien planet or you're still in an alien environment alien universe so it's like you started with a very space exploration Vibe and then you suddenly went into the Zone you're vibing and before you get carried away you are reminded again at the very end wait a minute remember don't get too overconfident you're still in an alien environment things could get dangerous but also exciting there's a lot to explore but there could also be danger just around the corner I love that wow that last segment especially it reminds me so much of this legendary electronic composer slash arranger one of the early pioneers of electronic music Tomita it's reminding me so much of that oh my god um yeah wow I understand now why you wanted me to listen to this this is bizarre this is ethereal all in a good way thank you [Music] thank you [Music] [Music] thank you [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] foreign [Music] foreign [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] foreign [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] foreign [Music] [Applause] foreign [Music] [Music] off in the comments if you want me to react to your favorite video game soundtrack [Music] thank you foreign ERS love to be inspired by Chopin's Prelude in E Minor I think it's just such an iconic classical piano piece with a very distinct type of descending chord progression that is perfect for portraying the sound of melancholy or the sound of sadness or the sound of depression even if it's intentional or not that piece by Chopin is just one of the most iconic examples of it [Music] foreign of course the composer tries to mix it up gives it his own spin by adding a lot more dissonances or or what they would call the sour sounding chords or the chaotic sounding harmonies simply because it goes against the traditional Pleasant sounding chord but they serve a purpose to mix things up to cause a little bit of chaos or even subtle chaos [Music] Chopin in space [Music] foreign [Music] I just realized something when that acoustic guitar when that guitar strumming entered and then it mixed up with the melancholic piano and that synth Melody and synth pad in the background I just realized that Radiohead is just rock Chopin because this new section right here with the entry of the acoustic guitar it's giving me so much of Radiohead Vibes especially from their album the bands with uh with the song Fake Plastic Trees but the fact that it started with piano solo piano reminiscent of Chopin and then you mix up the guitar it's just oh my God Radiohead is Rock Chopin [Music] thank you [Music] okay well before we continue I I love that it sounded like a space lullaby that whole entire section right there from the Chopin sounding piano with the scents and the guitar it really is very atmospheric sounds like a space lullaby in my head I could imagine you know playful astronauts you know would sleep in zero gravity floating inside their spaceship or something like that in their spacesuit or something sleeping soundly and this is like the music that accompanies that I don't know I just thought of that what do you think oh foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] wow it sounds so dramatic the entrance of the rock section the metal section it's actually very theatrical very Shakespearean even in a grandiose way where it's like you're introducing a new character or a new situation that has changed something Grand something big has been revealed and boom new section comes in oh wow [Music] [Applause] [Music] foreign [Music] [Applause] yeah definitely space Radiohead Vibes right here I love it [Music] but at the same time those leads oh my God those dramatic leads are very reminiscent of power ballads like the solo sections of power ballads from the 90s oh my God like from the Scorpions or bands from that era oh my god wow [Music] [Music] [Music] wow that keyboard solo is just having all the fun oh my God [Music] [Music] wow so just like the first song that I reacted to it ends in a manner that aims to remind you that you're still in an alien world it ends in a very space-like sound again space like synths that's kind of like a gamelan Gong but in a synth mix but at the same time it's still using the Chopin harmonies which is amazing so Chopin in space Radiohead In Space combine all of it and yeah this you get this masterpiece right here wow beautiful [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] thank you [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] thank you [Music] [Music]
