[Music] w good morning and today is the 30th of 12 month in tibetan calendar called namang and today they prepare and decorate The Altar and the whole house should be cleaned by tonight and usually man wash clean on 29th and woman on 30th signifying entry into the new year fresh and [Music] clean all right then let's celebrate tietan New Year near Everest on top of the [Music] Vault the first day of early morning after waking up during the New Year's Day tietan SC used to have a bowl of boiled barley beer called quendon in tibetan which is contained such as these ingredients ble grapes tumba jinen cheese balet Beer and other dried grains or fruit if you visiting Tibet at Tibetan New Year I really recommend you to try this soup which is called Quinton and it tastes so sweet [Music] traditionally on New Year's Day Tibetans hurriedly fetch water in the morning and dolma carries a bucket to fetch water down the [Music] house she piles up few rocks consisted to be a stoer and she recites Mantra while filling pet with water and this R present water offering people believes the water will be ever REM around [Music] [Music] us [Music] at home the water reserver should be always full and she decorates the water reservoir with butter and make it plenty in order to relieve all bad almonds and good luck comes in the New Year to the family now dolma begins her sheep hat cooking for lunch and she cooks them in a very strong [Music] fire sheep hat is a very very important and traditional toban food that we only eat during tobat new year but now she's cooking it and we have to cook it for at least [Music] hours after dolma cleans herself she sees her husband kelang is bored with cleaning his body and she calls him to wash his hair before celebrating the festival in a very attractive of [Music] [Music] themselves and by this awesome chance I hope my viewers will be more familiar with the descriptions in the following what why and how Tibetans do offering during New Year's Day and during Tian New Year churum which means the holy Alters in every Tibetan home are bound F decorated with offerings and auspicious item for the good and positive things they had in the past year and to seek blessing for the new year here we shall discuss what what is commonly found on sacr ala and they are Dera y CH lungo and Cha so first we will discuss about derka derka is a pile of csy Tian fried cookies presented at the altar with snacks and other eat tables so there means plate and c means mouth so it means a big plate in which lots and lots of ebles are presented and now I'm helping them to make derka so this is derka and I think it's pretty much similar to a Christmas tree I mean for Tibetan this is the main offering that was needed at Tibetan New Year so this is Dera and luu is the young green shoes of b or wheat signifying good harvest for the coming year lungo which means sheep's hat and sheeps are consisted Fortune Keeper of the family and it is placed at the altar to receive fortune and health B is a wooden container for cha it has two pockets the right hand side will have wheat grains and the left hand side is filled up with t which means the roasted Pary [Music] flour [Music] [Music] and after few hours sheep hats are finally cooked and for the quison Sheep hats is the main main dish and in the family each person can enjoy eating sheep hats dur during their lunchtime and for her Readiness of cooking sausage for lunch she asks her father-in-law to cut this sheep hat [Music] spe [Music] so this is the meat room of this house this is the place where they preserve the meat because in early times they don't have a fridge so this room I think they use it to preserve all those meat for a longer time and this room is the coldest in this house and I can feel like it's really freezing I'm pretty sure that it's like minus three in this room and I noticed we Tibetans literally like to eat inner parts of the animals like Yak cow or sheep and commonly if you travel every corner in tiet we see natives used to eat sausage just a [Music] lot it seems each and everyone gets really excitement they are so busy working together helping each other cutting Yak meat mutton even the oldest age of the family Kel's father Cuts M himself dolma says us the sausage will be more crunchy and tasty when you pinch well indeed it is looks really really delicious and yummy and it seems her mother-in-law she also wants to take part in preparing their lunch she cuts the sausages into pieces [Music] [Music] i'me [Music] spee and all together the lunch is almost well prepared and for us the lunch on the New Year's Day is the most variable and most enjoyable meal with the family and I think it's similar to the Christmas Eve that people eats turkey finally they come at the table with big smiles on their faces and start their lunch [Music] [Music] [Music] spe [Music] after lunch they get ready to attend the New Year's ceremony at the monastery they are in their most stunning costume because all Villages are already presented there and I think everybody makes thems more beautiful and more attractive and also showing themselves [Music] [Music] off [Music] and they bring such Necessities like zampa butter beer prayer flex and soft drinks to attend the ceremony and the young coms earlier and lift up the prayer poles they use stones and make them conable later all Neighbors start burning incense and worship all [Music] together [Music] [Music] as far as a concern about they hang prayer flags and erect the prayer poles is due to a custom spreaded from generation to generation and literally this kind of ritual practice can bring luck and Happ happiness all around the new [Music] [Music] year [Music] [Music] spe [Music] and after the ceremony people prefer taking part in these activities some play The Rock hitting and they make a bat some stronger lift the heavy Rock but happily everyone plays the game if they win or not because villagers hardly get enough time to meet each other after New Year's Day for their hers or [Music] farming and now it's time to see who is the strongest man in the village foree and in the meantime they have any choices for participating those who love dancing they invite each other and get into the Circle dance and in the dance different ages sing as well as give the best performances of [Music] themselves [Music] a [Music] [Music] and after the villages Gathering activity everybody comes home and woman prepare dinner while man in the family have fun playing games like dce or sh and in the kitchen Cho Yak meat that is pure and fresh the wheat dough is also the main recipe and inside the wheat repper it has chopped meat that what we call Momo INB Ro keep them in the steam vessel almost 15 to 20 minutes and then it is [Music] served [Music] speech [Music] speech spee and in addition it happens to be the engagement ceremony at the same time and the father gives wishes them to be a kind and loving [Music] [Music] couples [Music] in a year the family reunion is Once from the distance they come home and visit each other they greet and amuse Elders with songs dances and [Music] beverages [Music] [Music] [Applause] in and that's all about today's video and please remember we can organize the most amazing spectacular cultural activities trip in Tibet and if you
