MrBeast Burger Launch Was Almost a Disaster!

welcome back to the bouncer podcast yesterday stan up and carl went to the grand opening of the very first mr beast burger restaurant let's talk about it but before we do sign up are you aware of the disgustingly small percentage of people that are not subscribed to us it honestly hurts my feelings it's disgusting it's wrong and and i'm not cool with it before we go any further i just want to thank sapnap for wiping his tears before recording this episode he was crying because there weren't enough people subscribed to our youtube channel look at the amount of people that listen but aren't subscribed this is ludicrous okay so for people that don't know i'm a part of a youtube channel named mr beast what's that currently at what a hundred it's a youtube channel that happens i checked 104 million you did just check so it's it's the biggest youtube channel on the planet i feel like it's safe it's actually not the biggest there are channels that have more subscribers but it's probably the most prominent youtube channel of all time right now i guess so in addition to just being a youtube channel um mr beast has expanded to chocolate bars and a bunch of different adventures one of which is a burger restaurant that has just been through um online services up until right now we have our first brick-and-mortar restaurant multi-resistance launched a brick and morty restaurant no but this is we just launched it this weekend um me and sabnet both went to the opening day and it was absolutely i was not invited it's because you don't have an item on the menu that's so messed up yeah the part of things to be advised that you had to have had an item on the menu at some point in time so i was i had this spicy burger um for moral support just pure moral support i mean so so we we don't i feel like i don't know what i was expecting for this launch but it was hyped up and people knew that we were gonna be there so i knew it would be a lot of people but for reference we did this we opened the first restaurant in the american dream mall in new jersey it's one of the biggest malls on the planet the mall has a ski slope um a theme park it has a water park separate from the theme park there's too many golf courses i'm pretty sure there's an escape room there's all of this stuff and now the first mr beast burger restaurant okay it's massive the big biggest mall i've ever been to easily and apparently it can fit about 20 to 25 000 people because that's how many people were in there waiting to meet although i saw the videos the videos were crazy they i think they were mainly there for me though that was the weirdest part is that most of the people that were there actually were really excited to see yeah a lot of people were walking straight past jimmy they didn't really know who it is oh my god i love you and your burger i loved the snack this happened that burger was really good they didn't even watch me eating dinner they just were big fans of my birthday anyone buy your your items and take photos with you with the item no here's the thing first of all sapnaps isn't on the menu anymore because it was a it was like a limited drop okay it was bad people didn't like it so they took it off people actually every everyone liked my burger so for the restaurants opening obviously it's going to have the whole selection of everything that's on the menu but for the first day they only did two types of burgers they did the b style and the chandler style i think it's the most efficient way of of trying to feed as many humans as possible when i say like for the video format pop up a pic like a video of how many people were there i can't stress enough it was a sea of people like an ocean of people dude like when i wasn't hiding in a random hallway that looked like the back rooms i was constantly being asked for stuff and it was sick it was like it was my first time meeting like a whole bunch of you so famous somehow that is awesome i i was i really was i you know one thing i want to say is that everyone everyone was really cool i didn't really get any like weird questions so one question that i would get every so often is bro what does dream look like can you show me a photo and it's like they really think you just have a photo on your phone and and if i did i would be like yeah bro here you go one kid asked me what his dream looked like and i said dude i could show you i don't care just don't tell me and you just stand around he was like really he was like really and i was like yeah and i open up my phone without him looking i just opened up my camera front facing and then i showed him his own face i was like anybody can be dreamed just like dream side he wants to be a superhero in our last uh that's right that's true that's true who knows so yeah it was i think in my opinion it could have been terrible there are so many people there the fact that nobody died is just an anomaly to me i don't understand the fact that i didn't die is an anomaly there was a point in time where i couldn't walk from point a to point b without four police officers on all corners of me and i was just walking the scrawny little dude just walking across it it made me feel really important like they'd be like all right come here come here and then you get surrounded by a bunch of guards and they're like pushing you through the wave and like this little kid this little kid ran this little kid ran up to say hi to nolan the security guard just literally pushed the little kid out of the way said bye moved him kept going there's one kid came up to me and he was like oh my god carl like thank you so much you know you changed my life and the security guard picked him up i'm not even getting picked him up and threw him across oh my god that's awesome so there's this one dude that was a security there that was like this absolute tough guy like this absolute tough guy and i kept looking at him i'm like bro tell me your number how many people have you beat come on i was like you got a number everybody's got a number he's like no i can't talk about that dude my boss is right here like i can't talk i'm like i know you live for them i was like i know you're looking for number eight today aren't you because because he told me seven people he had enough seven people it's crazy they spotted seven people just to finally meet me and lose yeah after after it was undone meaning we went down to the parking lot and i was hitting with the left left jab right uppercut and he couldn't he couldn't hang um he got knocked out i think i actually have a picture of me going like this over his unconscious trouble at the beginning right when we opened the restaurant i got in trouble you know we did one of those red banners across uh jimmy cuts the ribbon ribbon yeah ribbon with uh scissors big scissors and i took the big scissors because there's a bunch of cameras i was like what's a way to make this not cringe i feel like every time it's like oh open and then everybody's like whoa and we're all just staying there oh my god so i took the scissors and i started pointing them out all the camera man i was like get back get back and then the security like talked to me somebody took the scissors away from me trust me they were not happy about it they didn't like it i feel like the only time i've experienced a lot of people um is twitchcon would you say it was like it was a lot more than that right if twitchcon grabbed the vial of steroids held it over their mouth crushed it smelled the glass and then ate their spinach and then popeye's style just popped up some muscles and then just you know what it really felt like at points it felt like especially because of the back rooms we were taking and these like super scary like elevators and stuff started to feel like a zombie horde it was a lot of people just like a swarm of people and anytime they saw me people would just start running like running sometimes you know what i mean it actually felt like these kind of situations for you they don't even like humans aren't meant to have those kinds of situations you know no what is it i firmly stand by that i firmly stand by i think that something that is different about what we do than than a lot of people in the world obviously not we're not the first people to do it but having a following to the extent of getting 30 000 people to show up to this mr beast burger i'm just going to keep saying arbitrary numbers i really don't know how many people showed up it was like tens of thousands so to be honest um to have that many people show up to a beast burger humans were not intended to have that many people create opinions on you whether that be good or bad they were just not created for that you know what i mean and that's stressful dude there's no shot that i'm i should be standing here and then there should be a line of different people from all over the world a dude was holding a sign that said i flew in from denmark three days ago and waited in line for this you know what i mean like people were like there there and he was there for me he was there for and then in at the low at the bottom super small text because sapnap is here that's what he said um no but it's it's so cool it's a really cool experience but i i don't think humans are meant for this dude they just aren't but dude there's times where i'm just like i have to sit in this back room and just like sit and just say just talk to another human yeah you know what i mean and because the second i got back out it's go time it's immediately go time again it's like you're constantly um doing a very intense task yeah yeah but it's cool it's so cool i mean it's very rewarding it's kind of like um like for me at least i'm imagining it it's somewhat like you know the meet and greet we did at twitchcon but like yep a lot more intense because that so imagine imagine the meet and greet but it's not coming out yeah and they come from every single yeah that's really what it is it really was just a meet and greet and you know what it really really was though the friends we made along the way opened my eyes and this is what i just think that we should and let me know if you're listening and you think it's a good idea we just need to make our own convention i'm telling you i'm telling you we need to make our own convention because i think that these conventions that have a wide array of different creators i think they miss the mark sometimes because it can't be tailored towards these people's experiences as much i think having our own convention to the way that we could would be really cool because i think i i'm gonna blanket say this kind of parasocially but i really enjoy i think our fans are really cool to be honest i think they all have like a i think it's a pretty cool group you know what i mean and i think that we can find a way to like tailor some sort of convention to make it cooler for them i think it would be cooler for us i i feel like i've already briefly talked about how other conventions are kind of poorly do stuff sometimes obviously vidcon was a great experience twitchcon was a great experience but there was a lot of stuff that i would change if i were to redo those in my own way you know what i mean i don't know something to think about what do you guys think i mean i think running an event is really hard um and there's a lot of responsibility but i think if we were to put it off i think it'd be awesome um and yeah i think like with with big events like vidcon or twitchcon like you said like catering for absolutely everyone whereas if we were doing it it would just be for us i know i would be a lot smaller scale but it would work because it would still be big it would i don't think it would be that's much smaller of a scale you think we'd have a venue like twitchcon like that massive venue oh i don't think that it would have to be just tailored to us like i think that it could be a super extended universe of the dream group and the mysterious group you know what i mean conglomerate so everybody in between everybody like i'm talking like anybody that's with that's within that that uh cinematic universe i'm talking colin and samir even like going that like to that angle i'm talking like ryan trahan those types of people as well you know what i mean i feel like they all kind of fit into this one group where i think that they're all similar enough to where we can make a cool experience out of something like that i don't know it's just an idea because this was a really cool experience to me and it felt like it felt like its own convention but with no content you know what i mean it was basically just a really massive meet and greet yeah and then they get burgers on the side well the burger's free do they have to pay for them no they paid oh mr beast that's a bad luck on you wow it's a for-profit business don't have to pay that's your day speaking of having to pay though that's how mr b spell all started out it was just it was just a um a youtube video right yeah uh this might be the title this new mr beast burger is absolute clickbait and here's why this is not the first mr beast burger restaurant to exist we created one two years ago to launch mr beastburg that was two years ago it was a pop-up restaurant dude it was two years ago it was 20 20. how crazy is that honestly one of the one of the coolest parts of that whole thing was whenever like i don't know when it was pretty early on they were like yeah we're gonna we're gonna host like this real life mr beast competition with some of the people that you know were in line and got burgers and stuff and they did the competition so there's three floors to this mall so it's like one two three the mystery spur goes at the top and like everyone in line was like below pretty much no they so to be clear like there was three floors and each floor was the size of a mall itself and the second and third floor were both filled to the brim with humans waiting to get to the third floor that's how i got moles so yeah anyways the way it works is we go down to the bottom floor on the stage and there's just a circle and there's like 10 people singing in the circle and we're trying to host like this this like mr beast like uh you know circle video essentially with like just like it was crazy standing here and you just see thousands of people all just staring down at you and people on the stage being like oh my god and it was pretty surreal like i i was trying to take pictures of people and it feels bad cause like there's like literally like just hands like this being like being like take my phone take my phone and then yeah you can't grab malls you have to like randomly pick and choose one then you have to remember who to give it back to yeah they and then i was like sometimes i know sometimes i was like whoever whoever no one's i hope no one's just going to steal this phone i was like here you go whoever grabs it grabs it i'll tell you this george yes would you like to hear how we almost ruined the entire launch of this mr beast burger restaurant yes there was a scenario that came up that was almost as bad as any bad convention you've ever heard of it was almost an absolute disaster we were seconds away from something really terrible genuinely this is not clickbait yeah no collectively real we were on a stage at the bottom floor of this mall okay and on the stage was a little red circle and we had a bunch of people that were waiting in line competing in that circle the last one to leave got 50 grand was the idea okay it was like something to like entertain you know like it's a very mr beast thing is this like for an actual video were they are they actually like filming a video we were filming it we were filming it and uh that's gonna go on mr beast you know i'm not i genuinely don't know um but i'll say this there was kind of like a oh this is a mr beast thing to do you know there's all these people here hanging out already and that last leave thing uh being on the stage with sapnap nolan and then me attracted a lot of people to this stage it's a sea of people a c okay a lot of people holding their phones out asking for pictures and stuff so this is the mistake that almost lost us this perfect launch okay we started taking phones and taking pictures while we were on the stage right doesn't sound too bad like we were like why would that cause anything people started noticing we were taking people's phones and doing pictures so then everybody started encroaching on other people's spaces and there was a lot of activity and it wasn't it wasn't at a dangerous point yet but there was a world where it absolutely would have escalated and state troopers mandated that we ended that challenge on the stage right then and there they told us we needed to end the challenge that was it they arrest you they order that they or if we didn't end it they shut down the entire event oh my god the restaurant's shut down everybody's gone that's it so jimmy's not down there because he literally wouldn't have been able to no shot right he would have started a riot like that's how bad it would have been he wasn't down there but i get a call jimmy's calling me i'm like oh shoot what's up i answer him he's like hey like how fast can you end this challenge and i was like what do you mean there's still five people left in the circle like do you want me to try to like do like different ways to try to get him out in the creative sense he's like no he's like no you're not getting me we have to end this challenge right now or they're shutting down this whole thing and i was like what and he's like yeah state i'm standing next to a state trooper right now oh my god and if we don't end this right now then this whole event is done and that's it how did you end the challenge so i was like wait wait but i'm looking at it and i'm understanding i didn't really think about it because obviously you wouldn't think about that kind of stuff but you're looking around you're like oh this i could see how this could get dangerous it wasn't dangerous yet genuinely but i was like all right fair enough he was like what can we do you know what i mean and i was you know we we brainstormed and it very quickly we're like we just have to pay every single person that was in that last to leave the circle that's it we have to pay all of them that was still in the competition is what we were saying the problem was two people got out of the competition two seconds ago like five minutes ago maximum two people had just gotten out so for us to not give them money also would have been such a bad look so we ended up sir they're gone it would have sucked it would have sucked so wait when i got 50k 50 000 so instead of instead of yeah yeah it was for 50k so instead i was i was so nervous i cuz they had me tasked me to take a microphone and look to this crowd of people that were excited watching this challenge to be like yo not happening anymore i mean and i didn't know how to do it but i think it went well i was really worried that the people competing were gonna get mad because yeah so so i went on the stage grabbed the mic and i was like you know guys if everybody could be super quiet super safe we're just trying to keep it as safe as possible unfortunately we have no choice but to stop this challenge because uh there's a lot of safety con concerns we want to make sure everybody gets home safe after having a great experience today and then i was like what this means for the people on stage is each of them are going to walk away with 10 grand for competing including the people that just got out um super sorry about this and i started apologizing a lot because i was i just assumed like all these dudes were picturing oh i'm about to win 50k and then i only got 10. you know what i mean everybody everybody's in a challenge just assumes that they're going to win in my opinion because that's what i do so but they were all decent i think it's a different a decent deal because they're like yeah they were they were very pumped they were very popular i feel like if i'm in one of those situations i'm like god i i want this to end like i would i would probably take that deal like some some people are crazy they'll stay in that circle forever you know speaking speaking of challenges someone interjects really quickly just a funny little story before we continue here uh so basically like you know not like a few days ago um puns me and puns were gonna be part of this mr beast gaming video right but then they were like oh some people backed out hey sam not puns we want you to come in as host and i was like all right cool i'll come in as a host with puns you know being as stupid as he is was like was like no i don't want to be a host i'm a bad host i want to be a challenge so i'm just you know what i'm still going to do it right i mean we're like you know you're being dumb like you should still do it yada yada's all these like good reasons as to why you should do it and he wouldn't budge he's like no i'm not i'm not doing it and it's funny because without spoiling too much of the video is that i got i ended up going getting to compete instead of being a host um yeah because we changed around anyway like right there and and and i just have been telling puns about that every single day and it was fun that could have gone very wrong and it didn't why weren't you there to save it though george carl there's a few logistical issues with that you know tell me go ahead do you have an excuse like being in england i'd have to be in america to be able to go to the mr beast oh so it's an excuse because you're in england because guess what none other than tommy and it showed up and he's from england how do you explain that one big guy look we don't have to get into this whole visa situation but you know it's a struggle i don't think tommy actually even has his visa we don't need to get into the legality of him being there you could have just been there and you could have hung out with us i was there i was there in spirit okay you were not i don't give a [ __ ] about spirit i could have been in there in spirit if they had some mr beast burger george items it's actually funny i remember um we were in a call i think all three of us and mr beast and that was the moment the satnav burger was conceived i remember he was like oh do you guys want items on the actually i think samnap suggested i think someone was like oh can we get like i zoomed on the mr beast burger menu and he was just like yeah sure and like i don't know i was i just thought i didn't think it was being properly serious about it but then i guess you reached out to him afterwards and then started working on it and i i just didn't message him about it if i did maybe it'd be a georgia island it probably would have been a george item i don't know what you would have done george george's gloop george's greasy burger it's just actually hungry they already have the moist burger they had for a second because i'm always critical hmm what could i make gorgeous george's chicken burger we do have a chicken burger oh you do yeah oh that's like the default one right it's a chicken sandwich yeah it's like a default burger um what else could i do george's chicken nuggets no george's popcorn chicken but i feel like i need a bug and it needs to be a burger why i already already came up with a george's burger and it's just patty just straight just beef patties buns and buns that's it that's his george's burger hit me out i have an innovative idea i believe george brings a burger many to the item and he also comes with a side no i actually i actually i just i just thought something amazing that mysteries burgers should do and they would sell a lot of it is whenever george whenever george comes to america we release like a dream team meal so you get like a burger a side and then like a drink it's like a special drink carl's nachos they're next okay and here's the thing i pitched carl's nachos then i wait stop i pitched carl's nachos what if i made a smoothie how did you just cut me off again bro what if i make a smoothie or a milkshake wouldn't that be cool yeah they're too hard to do i've already talked to her it's a keep in mind we're a shadow kitchen so we have to only use ingredients that every kitchen that we can get in touch with okay milkshake milk ice cream don't have them i've tried why why right now it's tough it's tough it's tough it's hot out there they don't have milk or ice cream look carl's nachos okay and it's the exact same thing that nolan wanted but here's the thing nolan said oh carl's nacho he said nolan's he said nolan's nacho sounds better if you care about marketing you'd do nolan's nachos and i said okay here's what we'll do we'll put carl's nachos and nolan's nachos on the menu same exact item same exact item and then they all both go live for a month same exact still live for a month and here whichever one sells better in the month stays permanently and then i just chill it i'm just going out there and promoting it that's like saying carl and nolan both tweet out the letter bug the word burger whoever gets the most likes is better i think i'm on board i'm on board so yeah we spent we spent about a day and a half in new york uh and actually we spent a lot of in new jersey because he that's new jesus so the american dream mall is in new jersey and it's right over the river from the city like it's right next to new york city i don't know the geography is this is right next to it it's literally like 10 minutes away it's 10 minutes yeah um so so we spent about a day and a half there okay we get there that night we spend the next day all at beast burger and then the next day we fly out before we talk about how annoying carl is about walking around the streets of new york can we include that you know we're just trying we were trying to get somewhere right and the car and then like we walked by this pizza place trying to get some pizza like lily walk right by like hey let's stop here and carl's like no i got the spot i got the spot bro we walked for a half an hour a half an hour after that just to go to some random 99 cent pizza place guys i've got this sushi spot in florida and nowhere come paris it's just the best you have to come it is the best it is the best and it wasn't the same it was it was some random 99 shop and it wasn't that good even though i didn't have a single slice can i can i at least can i have a case really quick we were walking anyways we were walking we were we were walking in uh midtown manhattan it was it was me sapnap tariq no a lot of people just walk in there you know a lot of people and we were waiting on my friend zealand okay he's another twitch streamer who plays football manager and i met him yeah yeah you know zealand twitchcon yep um so we were waiting on him because he lives in manhattan and we were like oh let's just walk around like that's what my opinion was it was all of us just walking around we walked past a place i'm not going to say any names because i'm not trying to like come at anything but we walked past a pizza place and it's one that i've been to that i was never obsessed with right so we walked past it it was packed also it was a lot and i was like we walked past and nolan's like oh what about this place i was like i'm not feeling it let's keep going here's the thing there are six full-grown adults there walking together and and this is the problem that sapnap and nolan both come up with every single time is they get upset with my leadership but then they don't just take leadership bro because here's my story this is where i'm gonna rebuttal you are not the leader the thing is we were in new york and you're always like ah i grew up in new york i'm walking here i'm a yankee but then you don't know a goddamn pizza spot from the back your [ __ ] hand here's the thing guess what numbskull if you heard me say no and that's why you didn't go into a pizza place that puts me in the leadership position because guess what if you wanted that pizza so bad you're 20 years old you walk over there and get a slice guess what numb but whole school i didn't want pizza so i didn't care where we went i was just like they were they were absolutely pissed so so guess what nobody says i was just like damn carl's really having us walk around i was like maybe he knows like a spot yeah you know what you know why i had you walking around because guess what we were in new york city and that's what you do when you're in a city you walk around you know something you know something we didn't talk about you know something we didn't talk about that happened when we were walking on new york city we saved a life here's the story okay we um this is actually crazy this was a crazy experience oh my god this is crazy so we saved a life no this let's save that for a banter but quick that's a really it was a crazy story that's what i was saying right i didn't have this place in mind i was like let's just walk around we're walking around and we get four blocks away and then nolan goes man we really could have just eaten there i'm like oh just then i was like go back then if you want to eat there just go why don't we just eat there i'll be bro if you want to eat there if you want to either go back and eat there i don't mind nobody's stopping you we'll just meet back up just get a slice and come back he doesn't want to eat on his own though but i didn't want to eat there here's the thing i didn't want to eat there to the point where do it on your own why not i was leaving on my own people were just following me you know what's the craziest you know what's the craziest part about this he ended up eating at that place that is the craziest part about it so i didn't want to eat there but i ended up eating there anyways i wanted to go to a 99 cent pizza slice place where you just get a regular ass cheese slice you throw some red pepper some oregano and some parmesan and you just go to town on it okay the place that nolan was trying to go to was one of those times square ass there's no regular cheese you gotta get a meat lover's [ __ ] you know it's a whole doing doing a lot you know and i'm you know there's a there's a time and place for both places i wasn't feeling that and guess what i was fine with the fact that if everybody was feeling that i was like all right i'll just get pizza at a different place like it didn't it didn't need to be that you know what i'm saying it just became a lot in conclusion carl's a dumb ass but anyway we finished like you needed more of a an assertive team leader to pick the restaurant you know what next time i'll be assertive guys once i come to america we're going to be eating like kings and everyone's going to be happy here's my thing here's my thing it's it's absolutely savannah and nolan are the kings of we should hurry up and leave but neither of them are going to i'll tell you who you need no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no i got to go all right guys and one last thing i wanted i want to talk about was our little adventure that we took at the end of our trip where we went to a yankees baseball game and had actually really nice seats i have a very healthy established relationship with the yankees i'm a yankees through and through yankees fan i've been a yankees fan since i was born my grandpa was put in his grave with a yankees jacket that's sick that's kind of sick oh no it's a yankees jersey in a giants jacket yeah that was it rest in peace carl's grandpa but that's pretty sick so so die hard yankees always have been right that's just my team it has been surreal now that now that i kind of have like um the the following that i have gratefully for i i'm grateful for um the yankees i've been able to connect with the yankees i've been able to work a lot with them and while we were here i got them to give us tickets that were pretty sick tickets right behind home base for me sapping out puns and sylvia and we got free food most importantly i'll tell you this george we cut it close dude okay how much were those seats worth actually i really don't know i i've never had to see that good without the them like um gifting it to me and it was i'll tell you what they're playing some trash minnesota team so they smacked him we have a little spanking for the first time in my life i've gotten to witness in real life aaron judge just slam a home run this dude is about to break records the yankees need to pay him whatever yankees if you're listening to this just just give them a check with no number just let them write it in george i'll tell you this we're cutting it very close okay we did the whole beast burger shoot the day before and our flight was at six the day after that and the yankees game started started at one and then we have to record banter the day after otherwise we have no time to upload it i'm sitting here like guys we didn't record banter but we're not going to make the day and we're like these games dude i called aaron judge's home run i looked at puns and i was like he's sending that to the moon bro he's sending it to the moon and and then pun said i'm on the moon man he's like ty i'm way too high um it was a really cool experience i i love the yankees thank you guys so much for having us i want to come a million times just like i do whenever i'm at the yankee stadium and on that note on that note i feel like that's a good place to end it and that's the end guys
