hungry okay oh hmm okay keep going keep going good girl good girl so [Music] [Music] so [Music] so [Music] [Music] [Music] so [Music] so sure good girl okay [Music] [Music] so [Music] [Music] so me okay welcome back that was my summit of mount marcy in the adirondacks the high peaks of new york a place that i've been multiple times and i'll probably visit every fall or summer every year for the rest of my life i did the 22 mile loop in two days the first day summoning mount marcy with 13 miles the second day only eight back out to heart lake over algonquin and if you watch my videos you're probably thinking that's not that many for a full day of hiking and that's the thing about the adirondacks it's just so difficult it's tough to do more than 15 miles to be honest it's so dense and wooded and muddy and rocky and so thick of woods it's just a really difficult trail but i've probably been over mount marcy like six or seven times now because i grew up not too far about five hours worth in the state of new york uh it's just a really special place i did this hike the first week of october but you know first second third week of october is peak for fall and you're gonna get those burnt orange amber red yellow leaves it's really beautiful of course it's different in the different altitudes the valley is a bit different than up in the mountains but i had a great time and hopefully shia had a great time a lot of you were wondering craig did you finally get a dog you've been talking about getting a dog for so long sadly no this was just a borrow i was borrowing my parents dog shia she's i grew up with her i think she's about nine years old now she's like a yellow lab mixed with something you know she's a little cute pup she doesn't really get out hiking that often so she was a little skeptical for the long ride all the way to the adirondacks but once she was there like it was wolf mode activated she was hiking faster than me she was just having so much fun and whenever i would stop to set up the camera for a shot and then go back and get it she was so confused and she would even like whine she just like wanted to keep hiking i'm not quick enough for you i'm not quick enough for you is that what this is you want to make that sound when i stop i think it's a good loop most people can do this you just have to be prepared for the weather the adirondacks almost have their own weather system so rain can just come in out of nowhere and it can be beautiful on one side and rainy on the other and i made a custom all trails map so you can follow my exact route see where i camped at lake holden there's a lot of campsites around there it's a beautiful spot you can visit the description below to view download and use that the loop started at heartlake and there's a adirondack loj i don't even know what that stands for but there's a lodge there's like a gift shop where you i think you can rent bear cans and it has to be the large thick plastic black ones instead of the thin blue ones that i see at like rei and stuff because there are bears in the area and you have to protect your food and protect the bears from getting used to human food and messing with campsites and hikers and there's also a small grill where you can get a delicious hamburger and i will say i sat down i covered shia with a shell because she was cold a little bit and i was ready to dig in and enjoy a beautiful bacon cheeseburger and then my camera battery died right before as you saw with the last clip so ugh i feel like that place is cursed this is the second time i've had like a camera mess up during the burger final clip of a hiking film oh well next time i parked my car for two days i think it was ten dollars seven dollars if you're an adk member checked in with the log book and then started my hike the night before i stayed where i always stay the lake house in lake placid it's a great spot and they allow dogs they welcome dogs they love dogs so that was perfect i did pick up little booties like dog boots for shia but after trying them on in the hotel room the night before she did not like them at all so we just ditched that that was a bad idea i rented my bear can in lake placid at the eastern mountain sports and i think it was cheap it was like less than 20 dollars for three days all of the establishing drone shots were shot outside of the wilderness where you can legally fly a drone and i was still able to get up high enough and get good views of like the mountain ranges of the high peaks some fall colors some beautiful reflections in the rivers and lakes it's just a great area i love it i shot the entire film on a sony a6600 with a 11 to 16 f4 lens and the audio was recorded with this rode videomic ntg with a wind dead cat windscreen to block out the wind as much as i could it was pretty windy on the peaks so i had to mess with the audio in post a little bit for this edit and like always i linked all of my know just how muddy this puppy is you are ridiculous let's keep hiking she's still getting used to going back to the camera too easy on those paws she does not like going back and forth beautiful this isn't a good shot this is tough for the dog stop hate i grab my camera yeah a good girl she hates it when i come back for the camera and leave her alone day two it's raining so much it's raining waterfall very dense you waiting for me yeah you're a fast hiker stay oh it's gonna be cold up here the sun is out crazy weather gorgeous there's always another angle after the angle i set up it's raining again we did it woo
